Game Period: 01-Jun-2023 00:00:00 to 31-Jul-2023 23:59:59 AEST
Welcome to the Mid-Year Mystery Madness Months, a period in time where for months, mid-year the mystery madness comes to life.
The goal of Mid-Year Mystery Madness Months is to hide, solve and find mystery geocaches that have been submitted by other geocachers for this game and maximise your points as you do so.
Double points are awarded for hiding a mystery geocache that meets the madness months criteria and single points are awarded for solving the mystery for other entries and, if you can, finding them as well. Note that you cannot solve your own mystery caches. Points are calculated as the sum of terrain TIMES difficulty PLUS container TIMES type (always a mystery cache with a value of 5).
To enter a mystery geocache for the madness months, simply list and publish a mystery geocache that has the following criteria and enter it into the game.
When your geocache is ready, can enter it into the game by heading to the Entry page, selecting your geocache and entering it
To make a claim on a solve or find:
Claims can only be made against geocaches which have been entered into the the game. When the game starts, you can find the list of qualifying geocaches here. If someone hides a mystery and does not enter it into the game, then you cannot claim it in the game.
Your goal in Mid-Year Mystery Madness Months is to gain the highest number of points you can along with hiding, finding or solving the highest number of geocaches. A ladder is provided so you can gauge where you are on the ladder at any time. The higher your points the higher your position. The higher your hides, finds and solves the higher your position. Ladder positions will be calculated first on points and then hides, finds and solves and prizes will be awarded accordingly.
There are prizes for finishing in certain places on the ladder, so even if you can't find every geocache, your strategy of hiding and solving may mean you can still claim a prize by being weaselly like a weasel. Prize positions will be 1st through to 10th (inclusive) and then every subsequent 5th position until the number of prizes has been exhausted. This could mean that some days position 90 is the highest winning position and other days where position 50 is the highest winning position. Prizes are dependent on the ladder positions being filled and your position on the ladder is based on your strategy.
So, go forth into the Mid-Year Mystery Madness.
