Mrs y’stassie is a Christmas tragic – addicted to Christmas decorations. She has an extensive range of Christmas items collected over 40 years. Her favourites being the Christmas angels. These include some glass angels from Germany, a gift from older daughter while studying in Europe, a tiny lace angel from Switzerland , a present from younger son and daughter purchased during a trip to Europe, small pasta angels made by a student, several hand embroidered angels made by members of the local embroiderers’ guild, a tiny angel made from a she-oak cone and 2 miniature porcelain angels purchased for her by her late mother at the first ever Deloraine craft fair. Family favourite is Drunkie, an angel made from an overlocker cotton cone with a table tennis ball for a head, who has adorned the top of the Christmas tree for the past 30 years. Drunkie was made by number 2 son as a 3year old at play group and got its name from its lopsided grin and dishevelled woollen hair.
