Description

A short 1.1k (return)bushwalk.

You will need to know how to navigate to and from the cache as there are no formed tracks. Long pants, sturdy shoes, gators, and own water supply will be needed.

Suggested Parking Co-ordinates S31 57.175 E116 25.526. Which is a track off Yarra Road. Cars can be parked just off Yarra Road but not in full view from the road.

The cache is located in a rocky outcrop surrounded by Grasstrees.

From the suggested parking location it is a short 15 minute walk to the cache through some Sheoak and grasstrees.

This location puts you at a watercourse that feeds eventually into the Mundaring Weir. The area after rain has plenty of kangaroos feeding on the green shoots.

It is also a good starting point to continue on a 7 kilometre loop to pick up Yetar Picnic and Wandoo Kindergarten.

The cache is an ammo container hidden in a crevice between to large rocks.

Stopped by this one one the way back from Yetar Picnic. Lots of smoke in the air now from the prescribed burn nearby, so hopefully they keep it under control. The cache is in perfect condition and last signed by the same people that have logged Yetar Picnic but not logged online ... TFTC BelKen Clapping

This was our first cache ever, so I guess 100% find rate?

Cache is still in very good condition.

Today I came to find this cache because I needed a cache hidden in 2005, one
of the requirements for the 2016/17 Scavenger game.
I didn't realize how nice this area was. Sometime in the future
I will be back to finish the others.

Out for a walk today and checked up on a couple of caches. Wildflowers are out and still some water in the creeks. The GPS jumps has always jumped around here. I don't know how phone users go. Cache is still in good condition. 11 years now over a year since the last find. HAve left in situ.

I had a mission to do the 4 GCA caches in this area today and get home by mid-day today to go to a ballet show ... things didn't go quite to plan as logged on other caches, so I didn't end up doing Wandoo Kindergarten ... after doing the other two I stopped off here and jogged most of the way in as time was short - and I encountered a few harriers hurrying through the bush as well.

Took a few minutes to find the cache - used the hint in the end. Signed the log and dropped in a path tag. Got back to the Camry at 11.03 am with 57 minutes to get back to Spearwood by the anointed time.

I was 20 minutes late - and not popular. But we were seated in the theatre 5 minutes prior to the curtains raising.

Thanks for the hide BelKen

Third and last GCA Cache for the day, cut a bit short when my friend developed a blister while walking. I carried on to this one while they headed back to the car. Great little walk, only saw a couple of roos the whole day. Thanks for the cache

For quite some time I've been wanting to get out and find the GCA caches in this area, and today was finally the day. Left home just before 7am and arrived at the parking spot just on 8am. Returned just on 10am with 3 GCA finds and 1 GC find. Now that we're getting into some cooler weather, it's a great time of year to be out in the Wandoo.

Quick find here. Amazing that it's been over 4 years since the last find. TFTC.

Out for a walk and checked up on or caches in the area before summer sets in. All caches were in good condition and should be safe from bushfires. A pleasant couple of hours spent on a sunday.

I went for a walk in the area today to check on a couple of these caches. They haven't been logged since September 2010 and they are coming up to their 9 year anniversary in April. It was a cool start to the day and I was looking for a large Grass Tree that I used to have a photo of in the cache description. It stands about 4 metres tall. I was intending to take another photo and upload it but alas I missed it on the walk down. Not hard to do when you off track walk. I must admit I missed this area whilst up in Queensland. Rainforest is ok in short stints but there is nothing like the freedom to look through the bush and just wander where you fancy with the GPS just providing you a general direction.(and with routing on, a way home)

Found the cache in good condition. Some of the swaps in this cache have been here for the whole 9 years. Can't beat a good ammo tin. Looks like this one will last a while longer here so I left it and moved on.

This cache was the final in a series I did as part of an enjoyable mornings bushwalking and caching. The circuit I did was a mix of GC and GCA caches;
Billy’s toy box (GC)
Bryncyn (GCA)
Gwern (GCA)
Ynys Pos (GCA)
Yetar Picnic (GCA)
Wandoo Garden (GC)
Wandoo Kindergarten (GCA)
Grass Tree Castle (GCA)
I can recommend all of these caches.
This cache almost wasn't to be however as I'd downloaded the wrong details (Grasstree crossing - oops). Thankfully I had mobile recpetion at the Yetar picnic cache and could phone home for the co-ords. An easy find after that. TFTH.

Nice and easy walk in. This was the starting point for my 4 cache loop, although I came right past here on the way back some 2 hrs later on.

Quick find, and the cache is still in great condition. There were no finders cards left in here unfortunately. Thanks for the hike!

We were a bit concerned as we approached the cache as there had been a bushfire through here recently ( it may have been a controlled burn). We retrieved the cache without problem and it had suffered only one small burn on the paintwork, and inside everything was totally unscathed. These ammo boxes are amazing things. Retrieved the Geochums GC. Thanks BelKen.

Last one for the day an easy walk in from the road, it is a shame that so few people visit this set of caches. We will be back to get Billy's Toy box and the Chwiliwr caches in Ridley Road. Thanx for the caches Belken.

Found on a hike over the weekend,
Great area to hike around in, just a shame about the rain as it spoiled our plans to camp on Mt Gorrie
Thanks

Second of eight planned for the day.
Raining all of the time.
Picked up the geocoin. It has no tracking number.
Will drop it off in a GA cache.

19-Aug-06
Dropped by to check on the cache as part of a planned weekend of backpacking and geocaching in the Wandoo National Park. The cache is in good condition.

02-Jul-06
Called in to this cache after Janine had found and logged it to drop of a geocoin picked up at Ynys Pos, then on our way quickly to Wandoo Garden and beyond Smile, while Mrs Roo sat and waited quietly.

Saw that majestic grasstree on the way to this one, and I'd forgotten that it was in the cache listing (working from a Palm listing without photos.)

An easy find, of course, and a pleasant start to the loop!

We were planned to do some more of Belken’s caches for the rest of afternoon after found the cache, however a fallen had and injured my left side knee. Plans were aborted until the recovery is completed. Planned to do the loop starting from Yetar Picnic to Wandoo Garden next time – hopefully, first thing to do in the morning where we can spend and enjoy taking our times, if all goes well. No swap except a souvenir card. Thanks for the great location, hunt, and walking exercise, Belken.

Found the cache after good late lunch. Enjoyed walk along to the cache. We planned go to next Belken's cache but bad luck Varuna fell over and hurt her knee so we have to return back to the car. We will come back another time. Took: Turtle magnet & card. Left: 3 items (star key ring, bracelet & rabbit) and card. Thank you Belken for organise the cache and hunt.

The sons fitness level was starting to show by this one with my little disability starting to give me trouble. Ignored the lot until we arrived back st the car. Nice walk through the open forest from the GC listed cache. We had a bit of a hunt until the hiding spot was seen after about 5 mins. I think we did OK this morning.

2nd cache today. Nice drive in the bush, followed crawler road/dunlop rd from Blair Witch to get here, nothing to taxing on the 4wd. The walk to the cache is certainly worth coming back to. Off to Mundaring Weir now for a BBQ and Ice Cream.

This was the last cache for us today after very enjoyable walks through the bush for the Belken caches here and the one further east with 'Lord of the Grass Tree's' by Dave in between.

Coming from the direction of 'Wandoo Kindergarden' the location of the cache was quite visible from some distance away and we had no trouble finding it.

TNLN Thanks Belken for the enjoyable day caching.

After a full days caching, We parked almost at dusk and headed off for another cache in the area. After 5 minutes walking, I decided that discretion would be better and to come back for two of these caches, another day. It was full dark by the time I arrived at this cache, and I only brought a torch (needed for the return journey), so T: a cache card, L: my visit card, SL. Cachers who ignore these three caches are missing out on some of the most beautiful Wandoo forest around Perth. Thanks Belken for the cache and the exercise

Second First to Find for the day at 12:15 PM and again thanks to Belken for the First to Find prize! We picked this one up quickly after parking at the advised spot. Found the coordinates good and the cache in excellent condition. It was in fact very close to an orienteering checkpiont! We managed to not get muggled. BTW also thanks for leading to me to a possible camping spot. Will look to incorporate it in a future weekend pack-carry in the area. Took marbles and left bike repair kit. Thanks Belken.
