Description
[Machines of War] Veterans Reserve is the 64th cache hidden by caughtatwork.
Veterans Reserve is a small reserve on the corner of Mary St and Melbourne Rd, Spotswood with the Spostwood and Kingsville RSL just beyond.
One of the few features of this reserve is one of the various Machines of War that have served their country well and have now been retired.
I drive past this particular machine every day after dropping one of the caughtatwork kids off to school and thought it would be an interesting locale to bring the finder.
I am unsure of what this particular machine is named, however its use is obvious and in its heyday its destructive capability would have been astounding.
You are seeking a small 200ml sistem container hidden upon the Machine of War.

Thanks to the CO for the cache
James0116
Found the cache quickly enough but the cache contained no log book. I rectified that and replaced in as found.
Thanks for another excuse to visit this area caughtatwork AND during school bloody holidays too
(Slim picking out in the SE now)
Parking nearby I had the area to myself. Searching low and lower, high and in between to no avail.
Even a PAF didn't help here today.
Thank you for returning my message at this time of year c@w. Much appreciated.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours.
I might just watch this one for a while now...
Our travels have bought us to Melbourne and we found this cache whilst in the area. Made a quick find thankfully.
Many thanks Caughtatwork for publishing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience.

GCA Find #47
Just happened to check the app and lucky me a this cache was only metres away. A brief search and the sneaky hide was found. Nice war memorial and thanks for highlighting this great place.
Thanks CAUGHTATWORK TFTC.
We feigned interest in the host object for quite a while and then when we finally got a chance to search it wasn't in the obvious places.
The sneaky placement was discovered eventually though.
Thanks.
As for the cache...well, blow me down, the rain had stopped! So I could take my time and search...and luckily it wasn't long and the cache was in hand. Signed quickly and then back to the car to head off to one last cache for the day. Although the rain had stopped, I was looking forward to my motel room.......and the heater!!!
Thanks caughtatwork....cache looks like it has only just been put there!
It was so nice to see a 'small' rather than a micro or (shudder) a nano on one of these things .
TNLNSL. Thanks caughtatwork.
tfc, tnln.
cache is in good condition.
Thanks caughtatwork for a non-nano, must check out the rest of these.
TFTC and the blast.
Pulled up at GZ and spied a potential fellow cacher scouring the item at GZ all over, so I introduced myself, and proceeded to help with the search, once we figured out that they were looking for a GCA cache, when in actual fact I was obtaining info for a GC cache. LOL.
Oh well, a cache is a cache after all.
Love the history of these items and glad they are so lovingly restored and looked after.
Thanks c@w for letting me grab my 300 (even though I was caught at work myself today)
Easy approach and log this afternoon.

As I was retrieving the cache my nose came quite close to a pair of black lace undies! I assume they were left whilst some lewd activity occurred in the dark of night.
I would also assume that they are not the normal garb of the average cacher.
Cheers Gordo
GCA Cache # 7
@ 8.10pm.
Being so close to home i really need to lift my game and get out and do this one.
Actually found a GC cache that was archived right at this point.

Grabbed this one while on the hunt for the movable cache!
Great location, thanks for bringing me here.
An interesting note: The gun appears to have been rotated 90 degrees since the Google Satellite view photo was taken... was that prior to the cache being placed here?

Third GCA find for the day... and... ever!
I found this one a while back when 3up put his geocaching.com cache right next to it without realising! I didn't log it though, today I wrote in the log book and am now... logging it!? LOL

Gosh this GCA business is fragmenting the game isn't it? Why can't we all live under the one snug banner and be happy little cachers?
Thanks C&W - increased our GCA finds by 15% )
The kids enjoyed climbing all over the machine while I searched. You'd think they would do that while I took it easy wouldn't you - sigh!
Thanks caughtatwork. Nice to get another GCA.
We had spent the whole afternoon at Scienceworks discovering looking at the the Star Wars exhibit. Couldn't leave the area without doing a few local caches - it was a pleasure that out last for the day was a GCA our third of the series. The cache itself was very quickly in hand - didn't even take the GPS out of the car.
Thanks again CaughtatWork not just for the cache but also for all you GCA / Caching Victoria work.

When I arrived at GZ and saw the machine, I was surprised to read that the cache was a small not a micro. I nromally find mirco caches on machines like this.

TNLNSL. Thanks once again caughtatwork for the cache!
Found it this time no problem
TNLNSL TFTC.
Sometimes you just get the feeling as you approach a cache that you might spend a lot of time looking in, under and around an item but this cache was not one of them as we walked straight up and found the cache.
TNLNSL
Many thanks C@W for an easy find.

Third find of the night as darkness fell.... time to head onto Wyndham Lights!
Having searched many of these machines over the years we fell into a routine as the four of us circled and probed. After a short search Facitman was heard to cry 'Huckle Buckle Beanstalk'. This resulted in blank stares from the rest of the family and a quiet chuckle from Rhinogeo. Soon after s-facit also had located the cache with e-facit requiring some prompting.

Thanks caught@work, nice to find something larger than an eclipse tin on one of these.
I'm not sure how I've missed doing this one before - not too many GCA caches get placed in the east, so I'm not totally fastidious about checking for them, but I was annoyed once before when I realized I'd passed right by another in this series in Altona while doing a nearby GC cache and I've certainly checked many times since this was placed, so I got a real surprise when I did a quick scan of the area prior to squeezing in a quick caching trip after visiting family in Brighton today and spotted it right near the freeway exit. Anyway, despite it taking a bit longer to locate than I was happy with (it's hard to look when you're wearing a helmet ), I got it without too much trouble - and it was certainly a lot speedier than my 1st cache in a similar location (a Kiwideb micro on the cannon near the clock tower in Ringwood).

Thanks caughtatwork - it's actually had a good number of finds - more than usual for a Vic GCA cache I'd think.
Took: Dino
Left: "Saluting their Service" Pin and Batman Stickers
Thanks caught at work for a great little series that I think I have finally finished.

Cheers c@w
BTW The gun is a 25lb Short Gun Howitzer. Built by Vickers Ruwolt during WW 2,
Thanks C@W
An easy find and a good start to the night.
Thanks, Robmc.

Thank You
Didn't realise it was a GCA cache at the time, so will most likely need to shift the geocoin I left there myself in the next trip west.

In: Blue snake Out tiger
Found by Roma and Max.
We were pleased this location was relatively inconspicuous as we had GZ to ourselves.
The size of the container limited the number of hidey holes and we made an easy find.
In: Tiger.
Out: Dinosaur.
Thanks again caughtatwork, this is proving to be a very interestig series.
Romax.
especially when it's just down the road. Picked up on the way home from work.
Took Bouncy ball, left flower.
Thanks Caughtatwork
