Description

SRR - Bonney Well

Stop, Rest and Revive is a series of caches along the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory. These caches aim at breaking up the long and often very uneventful journeys throughout the Territory. I hope that you enjoy the caches and that you take the oppotunity to Stop, Rest and Revive during your travels

SRR - Bonney

Bonney Well 74 miles north of Barrow creek.  6' x 3'. 35' deep.  Named by John McDouall Stuart after Charles Bonney a former comissioner of crown lands for South Australia.

To log this virtual, simply take a photo of your GPS or yourself at the well or the windmill. Plenty of people were camping the afternoon I visited so it is a good place to stop the car and strech the legs. Take a moment to think of those who completed the same journey you are on now, before the times of reliable cars and the life saving air conditioning.

A physical cache container was not placed at this location as there are very few cachers in this region and maintenance can be very tedious, if at all possible.

Now the first to find has been claimed, I can add my picture and make a claim as well.

An interesting area and one of the big windmills we see in Australia...as well as the actual well.

(And now for something I've never written before) Thanks for the cache albida33.....

Great spot! We were the only ones in the camping area so grabbed the thick shady park for a break. Another traveller arrived who'd just come off the Binns Road - seems that's a one only experience for them! TFTC albida33.
