Description

This virtual cache is located at the end of a short walk to the end of a boardwalk which ends in a viewing platform, from which crocodiles and rather large baramundi can often be seen. To log this cache, simply include a picture of one of the information boards and your gps in your log. Feel free to also add any other pictures you have taken near gz as its a very photogenic location.

A physical cache container was not placed at this location as maintenance can be very tedious and the wet season may cause problems as this boardwalk goes underwater!

We’re just now back from our sunset Yellow Water cruise…. It was great, by the end we were almost sick of seeing crocodiles! Wetland birds and water buffalo rounded out a great 2 hours. We trekked down the boardwalk to do this after, and saw another crocodile in the water 10 metres away…. Any info signs at gz are gone now it seems…. TFTC!

Found while staying at Cooinda. We didn't take one of the tours but enjoyed our walk out along the boardwalk to this pretty lagoon. There are no information signs at GZ anymore so we just took a picture of the lovely lagoon. TFTC

Walked out to this location and saw a couple of crocs in the water and abundant bird life. Signs are long gone but pic taken at end of boardwalk.

MrT and I went on the cruise this morning so thought we would walk along the boardwalk late this arvo and do some birdwatching. Saw a crock nearby. Lots of birds around while we were walking. No signs so took a photo of our trip mascot and TB "Bowra" at one of the brackets with the view behind. TFTV

Found easily - though the signs are still missing at the end of the boardwalk. This is a very pleasant walk with plenty to look at. We even saw a crocodile (about 200 mtrs off the end of the walk. Thanks to TeamGeoPlesk for this virtual cache.

Grabbed this on in fading light after a late afternoon cruise on Yellow Waters.

A magic spot, and got out just before the mosquitoes got really active.

We maxed out our Yellow Water experience yesterday by taking the sunrise cruise (for the second time!) & as substantial discounts were on offer for a repeat journey, we did the sunset cruise too. Not to be denied the full bottle, we then threw in a morning's walk along the billabong. As others have mentioned, the signs at GZ are no more. Remnant supports depicted herwith, along with a nearby sign (also destined for the scrapheap as the walking track is closed) & the cruise boat we enjoyed. Thanks TeamGeoPlesk.

My first visit to kakadu, and the sunrise cruise was a recommendation, and it didn't disappoint. An awesome experience. The information boards are no longer at the end of this walk. I will upload the photo of the cruise boat with the resident croc floating about.

WanderingAus wandered by on day 74 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, having finally moved on from Darwin to spend a few days at Kakadoo. This was our fourth visit to this magical place, and we still find it very enjoyable.

No visit to Kakadu is complete without at least one billabong cruise, and we weren't disappointed by the Yellow Water Billabong cruise this year, capping it off with this cache.

Am claiming a find on this one but the sign on the gate says it all!! Like most of the things at Kakadu the road to this one was closed. As was the road to Jim Jim Falls and Twin Falls, the Angbangbang billabong and various other attractions. The only way they would let you down to this area was to take the tour which we were prepared to do but it meant over a two hour wait till the next one and with our limited time that was not an option. The lesson we learnt from our visit to Kakadu was that it is better to visit in June or July when the roads are more likely to be open. Thanks. If you don't accept this as a find that's okay.

We were out on the cruise and photographed everything.
I will attach photos once I return home.
Till then, all the best from Kakadu.

Completed this cache after doing a Yellow Water cruise, which is the best way to see the area. TFTC

Got to Yellow Waters and found out that the boardwalk was closed due to large crocodiles in the area. Access was only granted to the boat ramp which is at the beginning of the boardwalk, so I obtained a photograph of an information board at the boat ramp. I also have some photos of the crocodile warnings. The photo taken at the boat ramp is at S12 53.769 E132 31.095 and is only 300 metres from the posted coords. I hope this is good enough to claim a find. Thanks TGP for the cache.
