Description

Watson Woodlands Wander - Part of the ACT Puzzle Series No. 1

Go for a short but nice Wander around the Watson Woodlands near the base of Mount Majura. A lovely spot for some bird watching as well.

There is another reason for this cache !

This year I decided to take part in the State of the Nation Game as part of the ACT team and had so many geocachers coming together and having fun looking for and hiding caches. To top if off ACT came first in the game, what a great feeling to be part of a great fun team.

This cache is part of the ACT Puzzle Series No.1.  The clue in the cache (in a couple of places) will help lead you to the final cache location in the series.   The other caches in the series you will need to find are GA11961, GA11970, GA11976, GA11977 and GA11978.    Once you have found all 6 of these caches, you will be able to find the final cache in the series, GA11959…….which is located at S35 16.ABC E149 04.DEF.

Don't forget to find "A" in this cache.

Logs

17-Jul-21
Doing mainly GCAs on this rainy morning with some GCs thrown in the mix.

I noticed that this was not logged on the map while I know I have done it. Must have been end of 19, probably October when I did others in the area. Well get to log it now.

Thank you for the cache Fitzy.

A freezing cold walk this afternoon with GLISS! As we hunt for 5 trigs and a daily cache. Despite the bitter weather there were muggles everywhere and we had a lovely walk managing to grab a couple of extra caches on the way! Such a pretty area. I will need to add it to my list of places I can come to to stretch my legs. Thanks for the great cache!

Out in the area with Nibletricecakes for our daily smiley, to collect a few research tasks and pokemoning as we went along. This was a quick find thanks to NRC's quick spotting. TFTC

I'd had a look for this one on a previous visit to Capital City without success. Sad Having seen Goldenwattle's log with the revised coordinates though, I decided to give it another shot tonight. Thankfully those coordinates were right on the money and I was finally signing the log at 19:20.

TNLNSL noted clue. Thanks fitzy_1965.

I wandered about for some time, until I suddenly found the cache about 13 metres off GZ. It was in the open in view on the ground among some broken sticks. It wasn't as the hint says, "End of Log." I moved it closer to GZ, but I couldn't find a hide to match the hint there, so I placed the cache about 8 metres off its present GZ to match the hint. That's closer than where I found it. It's now at: S35° 14.205' E149° 9.901'. The hide matches the hint, but it's not the most obvious one. Cache and log are good. TFTC fitzy_1965.

Wow it was hot at lunchtime today. I thought this location would be shady at least but no.... very dry and dusty. Was a bit worried on approach as the land care folks have been planting trees here but cache was safe and sound. noted clue for final and back to car for a long drink. TFTC

I was experiencing some withdrawal symptoms this afternoon and what better way to avoid housework and Christmas shopping than getting out for a walk and grabbing some caches. This was one of a few found. I wandered across from the nearby trigs for a quick find at GZ. Thanks for the cache , ooops , Fitzy. CoolClappingVery Happy

I headed in to pick this cache up after taking photos of the new test line of trigs in the nearby dog exercise area. Nice hide in a beautiful piece of remnant yellow-box woodland. Cache in good condition. No pen, so I have sent a photo of the container to the CO with request to log the find. Thanks for the hide Fitzy

I spent a few hours on Sunday collecting caches around Watson and Mitchel. Only a short walk, but plenty of timber to choose from.

Another area I haven't been to for a long time....

Parked on the road and headed in to find the cache. My heart sank a little at GZ...wow so many places to hide a cache. Luckily it didn't take too long to find the right spot. It certainly blends with the nature camo. Neat little hide.

Thanks fitzy....another one down.

Found after a brief search. have not been to this woodland before. Thanks

#2604 - 17:30; I needed a find today to fill yet another hole in the dZ calendar as I close in on the trophy for "Autumnal Equinox Horologist". In short, the trophy comes with a bonus 1,000 dZ points for finding a cache on each day through autumn. After today's find I will need a further five finds between now and April Fools Day to claim the trophy and the points. Things are looking good! I initially went to park a bit further away than I needed to, but quickly rectified that situation and parked near the closest gates to GZ. Wandered along the trail, spotted a likely hide and soon had the cache in hand and the log signed. TFTC fitzy_1965 Very HappyClan Cerberus
