Description

Find a form of this fun equipment and take a photo of it

Bonus points if you can take the photo with a team member using it.

Remember photos of children using the equipment cannot be used without parental permission.

A lot of these are now appearing in playground areas with a gentle slope but, for the more adventurous, they are used to good effect to attract tourists to get their hearts pumping and adrenaline flowing, in treetops, and across ravines.

As scout leaders we would often have these set up at scout camps for activities and they were always very popular, especially the ones over water.

This Locationless was instigated by seeing a new flying fox installed at our local park in Shepparton.

You may log this more than once but only if there is another log between yours.

The whole family had a go at zip-lining at Penny Royal Adventures. If I had have actually realized what I'd sighed up for, I may have said no Doh

A big thankd for the memories.
It was the 08.04.2013 in Costa Rica when Nana nel experienced her first Zip line. There were 10 sections of 100m.
This photo of me was at the end being lowered to the ground.

Sentosa Island Singapore. On a recent trip decide to head over and try this zip line. The lines starts up the hill and you travel about 1klm down to the beach. Great fun and worth the few dollars to have a go. Photos attached.

Thanks Cybergran V...cool memories.

We were pleasantly surprised when we saw that a school in Devonport had installed a Flying Fox as part of their playground equipment. For many years schools and councils were only installing ultra safe equipment which did not encourage children to engage in risk taking (appropriate to the age of the children of course). So we were pleased to see this equipment installed, with appropriate soft fill underneath. We have been past on a number of occasions and have seen the kids having a great time. however, school days were not an appropriate time to take photos. So we returned after hours and found the Flying Fox in place but the handles used to hang on had been removed. A few days later they were back. then they went again. It appears that the school removes the handles at weekends and during school holidays - not sure if it is to protect the school from legal liability or to deter "outsiders' coming into the school grounds after hours. Two photos have been added to the Gallery: a view of the Flying Fox construction; a closer view of where the handles are attached when the equipment is in use. Thanks Cybergran V for the cache.

Flying Fox
Market Place Playground - Berrima, NSW

A design with a bit of flair. You move the pole like structure you can see in the middle back to the launch platform, stand on the pole business & away you go. Closer to home flying foxes launch themselves at my mangoes & persimmons - fun for them. Thanks for another Loc.

A lot of these very tame flying fox rides are available in local parks, or, you could spend money to have fun on them at tourist attractions.
Our grandson loved the ones at Penny Royal in Launceston, Tasmania.
There is a series of them, one starts where the other finishes, in spectacular scenery, and he participated in all of them, and loved it.
