Description
2020 Anzac Day Virtual Event not at posted cordinates
Our suggestion is to stand at the end of your driveway at 5.55am (dawn) in quiet contemplation. Maybe light a candle,
or a battery operated one ,and if you are lucky someone your area might play the last post.
This is what has been organised for our Resort by the RSL.
To log your attendance post a photo of you standing in your driveway at dawn

Up early to attend my dawn service and as it turned out it was mine....as no else in the street or my complex turned. Bit disappointing.
Thanks for the event GT54...

A very different Anzac this year, but sill we honour them.
And the last post was played by a neighbour to a very quiet street.
Reminds me of a similar very special Anzac service in the Vic High Country many years ago,
where we gathered at 6am in -10 deg C around a camp fire listening to the last post.
Thanks for the Event GT54,

We gathered in our driveway at dawn and listened to the service on the car radio while Muggle Hubby raised the flag to half mast.
It was great to see how many of our neighbours also stood at their gateways, and lots of candles were lit along the street.
It was a very solemn and moving occasion.

Up early and outside on my own to stand in memory for our fallen and still serving.
Beautiful morning here in Queensland, warm and bright.

Mrs Shifter stood at the end of her driveway, as did all the houses surrounding her. She had a radio but when neigbours came out one had their radio turned up so the locals could hear. It was very moving to hear the Last Post drifting across the valley from other residents also.
Photos are of the candles Mrs Shifter had at the end of the driveway, Mrs Shifter at the end of the service and one from a number of years ago of Mrs Shifter marching in Gosford with her Girl Guide unit.

Dawn Service at the end of our driveway with the service from Canberra playing on the radio and our own big "candle". We sat on camp chairs around the bonfire and sang the national anthem.
I made the long walk to the end of my driveway this morning. I could only see 2 others out in their driveways from where I was. My neighbour ducked out somewhere for her morning service. I could just hear someone playing the trumpet as it was being drowned out by a bunch of dogs all about the neighbourhood, obviously quite curious as to why humans were out in their driveways with candles at that tie of day. I remembered the rosemary too (see photo)
Thanks.

ANZAC DAY Dawn.
At the end of the driveway with my great-uncles battered bugle, and my neighbours in their driveways with candles too. The sun rose to the sound of Kookaburras laughing and a Bugler in the street behind. Lest we forget.

A very different ANZAC day service. I was standing out the front of my house with the radio on live streaming the Canberra service. We will remember them, lest we forget! Photo attached. TFTLC
For the Fallen - BY LAURENCE BINYON
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

MusoSon and I headed down to the end of our driveway and tuned into Triple M Sydney to listen to the broadcast. Was good to see so many others in our street doing the same. A great way to commemorate ANZAC Day while keeping each and everyone of us safe from the current pandemic.

A beautiful dawn for what is going to be a perfect ANZAC day. Our driveway connects to the New England Highway with no close neighbours so the only people around at 5.55am were a few cars on the road. Didn't have a poppy but found a little red flower that was up for the important role. Lest we forget.

A different way of honouring the fallen ,but whent over quite well in our village
Up early but no light from over the horizon - that will be another hour away here in Tassie. There were quite a few neighbours in the street standing at the end of their drive ways. The most notable aspect was our immediate neighbour played the Last Post from his font lawn, a role he often has at the Ulverstone Dawn Service. Two photos have been added: Mrs y'stassie at the end of our driveway with a candle; and our neighbour, in his Ulverstone Band uniform, playing the Last Post (a grainy photo as flash did not work over that distance, given the lockdown we are currently experiencing). Thanks Gullivers Travels54
Here in my street, not a soul in sight on their driveways when I came out at 5.55am Not to worry! Just a minute before 6am the lady across the road came out and stood in her driveway. It was so quiet and eerie even though Beaudesert Road is nearby and constant traffic is always passing by. Lest We Forget.

Attended this virtual event. Up at Dawn to stand solemnly at the end of the driveway. A few neighbours were also out as well. TFTVE Gullivers Travels54
