Description
Stop, Rest and Revive is a series of caches placed along the Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory by TeamGeoPlesk. With the permission of TeamGeoPlesk I am expanding the coverage. These caches aim at breaking up the long and often very uneventful journeys throughout the Territory. I hope that you enjoy the caches and that you take the opportunity to Stop, Rest and Revive during your travels.
SRR - Last Link
Last Link Camping Area is beside the Stuart Highway at the place where the last link in the sealed highway from Adelaide to Darwin was completed on 15 February 1987.
The Camping Area has room for a couple of dozen or so caravans, camper trailers, camper vans and tents, and judging by the number of fireplace scars is popular with the grey nomads and other travellers on the Stuart Highway despite it's minimal facilities.
Facilities in the camp area as at August 2009 include a shelter, 3 picnic tables, a water tank, fireplaces, and a few rubbish bins.
To log this virtual, simply take a photo of one of your team or yourself, and your GPS, in front of what's left of the "Last Link" monument (that rock above). You don't need to wait for confirmation from me to log the find. If the plaque re-appears, please include that fact in your log, but please make sure the names of the officials aren't readable in your photo.
A physical cache container was not placed at this location as there are very few cachers in this region and maintenance can be very tedious, if at all possible.
Congratulations to redcenterdazza on the First To Find. |

Stopping to grab caches where we can with the caravan on tow.

A nice place to stop for a break on this otherwise cache-less 200km stretch of road. Some silly person has stolen the plaque so he's some pics of the rock...

Another perfect Winter day for a few more caches.

Sad that some folk need to collect the plaques rather than leave them for all of us to enjoy the stories they tell.

Thanks

So either I break out the computer, or guess at what type of cache I am finding
I assumed this might be a 'Virtual', so took a photo of meself and the GPS standing in front of the rock with no plaque
At least after reading the cache notes at camp tonight, I know what that plaque used to commemorate
TFTC !!
A welcome stop on our trip, took the picture (Still no plaque)
