Description
This cache replaces the previous cache at this GZ, GA18684.
Yarrie Lake is a jewel in the usually hot, dry inland of NSW, bordering on the Pilliga Scrub. It is a 3km saucer-shaped expanse of water thought to have been formed by a falling meteor many thousands of years ago.
It is appreciated by the locals of both Narrabri and Wee Waa - two towns each less than half an hour’s drive away.
Water skiing, swimming and picnicking are favourite past times here. Camping, both powered and unpowered, sites are available. You can walk right around the lake but not drive as there is only a footbridge across the wetlands. You could however cycle. Now you can cache as well as there are a few caches scattered throughout the bush. One day the trail might extend the whole way. BYO pen.
Enjoy your caching but don’t forget to carry water even though the path is mostly shaded. Please use stealth in busy times and ensure that the cache is hidden from view when replacing it.
