Description
A pleasant and historic area with The Chocolate Mill almost in sight
Celebrate your cache find or console yourself for your DNF with the beautiful hand made chocolates at the nearby Chocolate Mill. Take $$$. The Chocolate Mill is a straw bale building - cool in summer and warm in winter. A display inside explains the construction.
This is our 3rd GA 10th anniversary cache and our 2nd Goldfields Track cache. It is up a pleasant little gully.
This area is part of the historic Dry Diggings after which the nearby Great Dividing Track is named. From the south and east the cache is accessible via the Dry Diggings Track (walk or mtn bike). From the north, park on the slip road at the Chocolate Mill turn in or in their carpark if you are buying. It is then just a 500m walk or ride on the Dry Diggings Track starting on the east side of The Chocolate Mill entrance (follow GDT signs - see photo). An interesting longer walk can be had by continuing along the Track to the south where it soon crosses and then runs alongside a deep gully with small caves that can be fun to explore (photo).
Options on leaving the cache. If travelling north on the Track or returning to the Chocolate Mill, either head down the gully to the track or to experience Dry Diggings activity head to the track via the spur to the east. But be very careful as some of these unprotected pits are so deep you cannot see the bottom. If travelling south on the Dry Diggings Track then you can shortcut by going to the head of the cache gully then head west along the main ridge for 300m until you hit the Track.
For caches along the Dry Diggings Track, see the GA route Dry Diggings Track

Logs
A 10th anniversary geopcache in the 20th year of geocaching. A simple geocache to get to and find (for some reason the Cholocate Mill is closed in February) and we were able to locate it without any issues, right where the GPS indicated it should be.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache out here in the wild, it has certainly had it's time waiting between finds.

GAFF 1
The area we were walking through was very dry and the vegetation crunched under our feet when we had to leave the track to reach the hide. Accurate coordinates soon had us at the hiding spot and we were pleased to find that this old cache was in very good condition. It was last found over 18 months ago. After signing the log we returned it to its very safe refuge to await its next visitor. We hope it doesn't have to wait too long.
Thanks for this cache Kennythe1st. We probably wouldn't have come this way but for this cache. We will definitely have to visit again - not in February, to try out the chocolatier so we can compair it to our Anvers.
TNLNSL. Thanks kennythe1st.
The Chocolate Factory is closed for February and I went to drive off, but decided to checked other parking spots. Managed to find a spot just 375 metres from GZ and set off. Arrived at GZ after about 10 minutes and found the cache without issue. Cache is good condition.
Photo of the log book attached...
Thanks kennythe1st...interesting spot.
It was a glorious winter’s day so we had to get out of the house. I said to the better half, north, south, east or west and she chose Daylesford.
In transit from Sunbury this one popped up so what better excuse to revisit the nearby establishment and sample their wares (Just to check if the quality was of the same level as last time)
So with that delightful taste in my mouth, the dog and I headed off for a stroll in the bush although with a degree of apprehension due to the elapsed time from the last log.
I need not have feared as it was in the first place I looked due to great coordinates

Our thanks to kennythe1st for the cache and bringing us back to this location.

Cache condition – fine
Back today for the afternoon talk (well worth it!) as well as some purchases and drinks in the cafe (which wasn't here the last time we were)... Then while the kids played, I ventured out to find the cache. A nice walk, a straightforward find. Nicely done.
Then back to load up the car with goodies!!
A great walk to GZ and for us today a quick easy find. Walked back to the car and just had to pop in to sample some of the local sweet things ..... yummmmmmmm

Thanks kennythe1st
Took the family (previously non-cacher hubby - now a cacher and 3yo) and spent an enjoyable afternoon starting here and heading through Heburn Springs and home through Daylesford, Musk, Ballarto and back to Melbourne to Highpoint.
Thanks for the cache, and the pathtag (and my/our first FTF, too)
