Description

GZ in a DZ! (Dead Zone). Sorry bad sense of humour

Traditional container somewhere located just off the Great Western Highway by taking the Old Bathurst Road.  You will see the Old Catholic Cemetery as you turn off the highway.

That's the only clue we are giving you!

What a wonderful lace to stroll about. Cache was a little damp, tipped the water out and signed log.

A big day as a tourist guide, starting in Blackheath, then Lithgow, Bathurst and backroads back to Blackheath. Lots of tourist attractions, but also a little time to pick up a few caches here and there

As we travelled from Blackheath to Lithgow we passed by this cache. The wind was icy sowe hoped for a quick find. As we followed our GPS we spotted a suspicious looking heap which, on investigation, revealed a cache container. We got our wish and were soon out of the wind.

Thanks for this cache Anywherebuthome. It was too cold to explore this old cemetery today so that will have to wait for another time. Container and contents were in good condition.

#GA2372 - 17:55; Day two of the summer sojourn in the Blue Mountains with the geohoney and today a trip to Jenolan Caves was the order of business. Made our way down to the caves from Leura after breakfast in Katoomba on the way through. I was surprised at the speed limits as we made our way along the Great Western Highway, but they were certainly appropriate given the nature of the roads. Ended up behind a tourist on the Jenolan Caves Road, which was quite interesting when they overtook two cars stopped at a traffic control stop before they saw the traffic controller Doh Anyway, we managed to pass safely before the steep descent started Dancing After an interesting tour of the Orient Cave, we headed towards Oberon, stopped by the dam to grab the three trigs there, along with another engineering marker before picking up the local CORS and another trig before setting sail for Lithgow. Stopped for this one before we hit the outskirts of town and made a quick find. Nat far from 2 years resting in peace since the last find!. TFTC Anywherebuthome Very HappyClan Cerberus

Heading west to the Geocaching NSW Invasion event at Bathurst, I thought I would pull in here to add another dot to the map and make a little trail as I didn't have any previous finds around here. Pulled up at the cemetery after taking the wrong track to start with, then it was a simple walk in and quickly spotted from the right angle. Cache is in reasonable condition despite not being found for over 6 months, though the clips aren't clipping that tight it was all dry inside. Thanks Anywherebuthome.

Last week, I was here looking for a trig...got home to realise it was a traditional. This time...there you are!

A day roadtripping alone around the general area. Stopped once before but others were nearby. Easy park and wander ... cache was secure, a little surface moisture, but logbook was fine and dry. TFTC Smile

A walk around the grounds ... so many young ones within.

24-Apr-14
By the way, the log is wet and could do with a new container as it seems to be leaking a bit

Interesting reading all the old tombstones

24-Apr-14
It was surprising to find a burial from 2013 when all the rest were over 50 years ago

Nice old cemetary, I've often noticed it as I've driven past but have never stopped before.

My GPS was a bit out today, it was pointing in the middle of the gravestones. I guessed the cache wouldn't be there & looked in what looked like more obvious spots, eventually making the find (GPS had me out about 18m at that point).

Thanks Very Happy

Last stop before fitzy and I head back down towards Katoomba. A very interesting place......especially as the first few name we saw were the same as fitzy and myself. Spooky.

Thanks for showing us the area.

There was a couple wandering through the headstones when I arrived so took the time to return a few phone calls.
The rain had just started again just as I found this one.
Knew the cemetery was here, just never had time to stop for a look.

A quick stop while travelling through Lithgow with Mr Roo & Just a Cacher to grab a few caches and this was on our list to see. An interesting old Cemetry. SL Thanks for the cache Anywherebuthome

05-Mar-11
Black Bunny, Mr_Roo and I went on a road trip to rescue some poor, imprisoned gnomes from Lithgow. To make the trip a bit more consistently busy, we found a few other caches on the way (and on the way home, too!).
Quick find - we found a gnome in the same area. I liked the cemetery.

Found with blackbunny and just a cacher on a invasion of Lithgow, interesting foundations nearby TFTC

My very first geocache of 2011 and a visit to one of my favorite places -- an old cemetery!

I didn't realise this particular cemetery existed -- not having spent much time in the Lithgow area in recent years -- but was glad to be brought along to a quiet place on a warm and sunny day by the CO's GCA cache.

No-one was around on the January 1st holiday and I found the geocache a respectful distance from the graves, but still on the edge of the cemetery grounds.

Container was in good shape and the contents were dry. TNLNSL.

'Three Thumbs Up' for the nice old cemetery.

Many thanks to Anywherebuthome for this one!

Thought this was at a different place and was surrprised at this hidden cemerty. Thanks for the stop and the chance for a trip down the old road again.

WOW!!! A GCA 10th Pin!! I was so disapointed I missed this promotion as I was on the road at the time and couldnt hide anything. Now I have one, thanks Rodger!! Left a cool GCA Cache sticker and a big marble as payment. Zal is a happy cacher today.

Cheers from Sydney. Part of a new PB day for me - 36 Finds from Blackheath to Orange... took 8 hours to drive 120km Razz Cache #13

At last I decided to go and check this one out, I have always been dubious about walking the last section of the Great Western Highway (I hate doing that!), but it turns out the old Mudgee Street is still there running along the Highway so no worries. Glad I did, this little known cemetery is full of reminders of how hard it was even less than a 100 years ago. Took nothing, left Yowie, Olympic Pin and most important a GCA 10th Anniversary Pathtag.
Thanks for a great spot Anywherebuthome. Now onto lake Lyell.

Morbid perhaps but I like looking through historic cemeterys so a cache is very pleasing. The lack of medical facilities in bygone days is always starkly on show in places such as this. Thanks.

19-May-10
A nice quick easy cache with a bit of history to boot.
Thanks for the cache.
Took nothing left nothing.

18-May-10
I thought I had better get in reasonably early with a Lithgow cache if I wanted a FTF!

I got this one at 8:45 am.

Nice little hide with some history thrown in.
