Description

On a beautiful walk to savage river you will have to pass King Myrtle

Down by the River Pieman you will go; look for a savage walk.  If this is not plain; here are your starting coordinates S41° 39.064' E145° 04.605'.  Wander along a harmless board walk and then take to a well marked track into the hills.  You will climb a bit and then a bit more...you will know the king when you meet him...he can not be missed.  The Cache is held within in his structure; be prepared to bow down and caste your eyes to the ground.  Be kind and gentle as this king, he has been here countless years, and is watching you...find this cache and replace with the minimum of fuss...enjoy this magnificent environment as you must.

"Hello G_E_O_C_A_C_H_E thank you for the cache.

This is a lot longer to get to than we expected but well worth the walk.
As we were slogging it up the hill a muggle came striding down having gone all the way to the jetty.
I absolutely love the giant myrtle tree that the cache was found in.

Found during a weekend away with EeePees.

Hi and thanks for the cache.
Taking advantage of the Hobart show public holiday, and making a 4 day geocaching trip West, and then North West, with AlbyDangles.
This is one we found along the way, although I did find the walk quite taxing on my dodgy knee. Excellent tree but!
Cheers, EPs.

Caching our way back to Zeehan after the Oz Day event with SSRat and Goose&Egg the long way around.
Headed out to find this one, all seemed lovely along the boardwalk despite the tiger snake along the side and then it started to go UP! But we were there and so was the cache so we kept going until we found it, then we got to go down again. TFTC

we pulled up at Corinna looking for an ice cream at the general store but had t settle for a beer instead. Life is hard! The walk here was tough in today's heat and after a snake sighting we were very cautious. We were happy to find the cache easily with TazScout and stainless-steel-rat

Having got to the river from the North we did this walk since it was one of the top 60 in the state jobs, only spotted one snake along the way so it was a great day out in tassie.

Cache in great shape even with it being so long between finds.

Loved the walk to this one.

We almost had a DNA here (DNAttempt). As it appeared to be "fairly close" & the track started off nice & flat we were confident of success. One of those "bit more's" defeated Mrs T though who turned tail & headed for home. Mr T however was made of sterner stuff, or maybe he's just a little crazier as a mere hill or three would not keep him from making his mark on a bit of paper in the wilderness. Once at GZ he was huffing & puffing like a steam loco but the find proved to be a simple one. What met his eyes within? Oh joy! Last found 29/12/14, over two years ago. Well, 776 days to be precise. We just love to find these "unloved" caches and caress them with a little TLC. What's more everything was in surprisingly good nick considering the area. The king wears a massive raincoat! TFTC.

A very lovely trail through the forest. I was expecting a really short walk and this took longer than expected, and hillier than expected, and I was worried the whole way about getting soaked again (had just changed into dry clothes after an experience on Mt. Donaldson). But thankfully only a light shower or two (including trees dripping on my head!) And the sun breaking through made everything look sparkly and bright. As a bonus, we met a cute pademelon along the way.

The King Myrtle was grand and beautiful. Didn't even need the hint for the cache; it was in the obvious spot. Glad to have made the walk and managed to stay dry. A wonderful cache, thank you!

I love those big myrtles, I saw a few of them around over the course of the weekend. They are breathtaking. It was a most beautiful walk and thanks for placing the cache to encourage us out there. I'd love to do it again - Corinna is an amazing place and it makes you want to go back. Hopefully I will sometime. Thanks Andrew!

We had a very enjoyable walk to this cache after arriving in Corinna late in the afternoon. The track was a little muddy in places but in general pretty easy going. One little leech tried to latch on to my leg at GZ, but he was quickly dispatched.

A lovely late evening walk. No wind, no rain, just the stillness of the river and the night creeping in. A very cool place to be with very cool caching buddies. Cool
This was a nice way to finish our big day.
Corinna is just the most peaceful place and all you want to do is just not leave.
Thanks for the cache Very Happy

Hi Andrew
After finding caches along the way from Hobart to Queenstown, we finally arrived at the river to catch the barge and cross the Pieman to Corinna. What a quaint place.
Booked in, checked out the accommodation and then set forth to find this cache.
It was logged at 1655hrs.
What a pleasant, serene walk. Perfect at this time of day, just on night fall. Cache still in good condition.
Back at Corinna, into the Tarkine Hotel for what could only be described as the perfect caching dinner prior to retirement.
TFTC and cheers
OldSaint.

Wow, my first cache in a very long time and I had to choose this one! I wasn't stopping till I found it though. Great walk, even though it was all uphill on the way there! I am glad it was a shady walk as the weather this weekend has been rather warm! Thanks for this cache Cool

Found with Tassie Trekkers while holidaying on the west coast. The walk was flat to start with but then went up and up and up. Mr W and Tassie Trekkers made it all the way, but I had to give up along the way and wait for them to return.

Found on our West Coast Wilderness holiday with whitewebbs. A very pleasant stroll to GZ in an area we would not have visited but for the cache. Thanks for bring us here and for the cache

Quick morning walk after a lot of rain on the camper overnight. Very muddy today but not raining like yesterday. Heaps of burrowing Crayfish along the way today.

Great walk to this cache, although the weather was a little muggy thus making the walk that little harder (our fault as we left water in the geo mobile). The King is very impressive and hard to miss. Cache found quickly signed log, replaced and then took a few pics before heading back to the geo mobile. Many thanks

Grand old tree after a walk in the forest
Thanks

A late night stroll. It was a nice walk but didn't realise it was such a walk in. On a semi-torn ligament it wasn't all the comfortable but hey, if i didn't want to keep going i could have turned back. Truth is that this is a great little track and well worth the trip. Thanks.

Swampy had to do what I thought not possibke and that was send a text message from way out here. He was just trying to show off. Have nevaer been out here before but I love it. Thanks for the cache

The last time I was here, there were 2 buildings and that was it.
Although it has grown and there were lots of people here today, we pretty much had the track to ourselves until we were making our way back out, which made it fairly peaceful.
Did manage to send a text message from near King Myrtle so there is a little coverage but I wouldn't rely on it.
TNLN. Thanks for showing us the area and for the exercise.

Dave dad managed to grab this one while I waited on the boardwalk. He was glad to get back to the bottom for a well earned rest. Beautiful day and great spot for a cache. I only got to see photos of the king but will be returning when able to get first hand look Dropped off tb and forgot it was a GA cache. hope someone grabs it and moves it on soon

There was an easterly airflow over Tasmania today resulting in the West Coast having fine and warm weather. The walk to this cache along the Pieman River and through the rainforest was the highlight of the day - magnificent experience. There were some rather steep sections as we walked to the cache but once at GZ, a quick find was possible. Thanks for bringing us to this area.

Have spent heaps of time working all around here so was nice to walk along a ready made track. Things have changed heaps since my last visit here...almost a village now. The track was a tad slippery towards the top...so good boots and gaiters needed. Enjoyed the 'King' and certainly one of the bigger myrtles that I've seen. There are many Huon Pines growing along the river edge...don't forget to check them out. An enjoyable walk and a FTF as well...and the 200th FTF to boot...so pretty chuffed. Many thanks for a top cache Andrew...Cheers.

I'm just wondering why this is described as Granville Harbour as it is no where near Granville, should it not be Pieman River or Corrina..?
