Description
Oatlands is an important historical village on the shores of Lake Dulverton in the centre of Tasmania. Oatlands is located 84 km north of Hobart and 115 km south of Launceston on the Midland Highway. At the 2016 census, Oatlands had a population of 683.
The Oatlands Railway was a short branch off the Main Line from Launceston to Hobart, which was built to give rail access to the town of Oatlands. The railway opened on 13 May 1885 and it closed on 10 June 1949. The line branched off of the Main Line in Parattah outside the Tudor style Parattah Hotel and followed parallel to the Main Line for approximately 700 metres before branching off in a north west direction towards Lake Dulverton. From there, the railway followed the lake's shoreline before turning in on Wellington Street and ending where it intersects with High Street. The original station building is now used as a child care centre. Much of the former route is now used as a bike trail.

Quick find at gz. TFTC
A very friendly spider moved from the cache container on to my arm. I think he wanted to come along for the ride but I wasn't having that!
22 caches to get on this ride to take us back to where we had to finish yesterday due to rain.
Thanks.
Many thanks icybeetas, for placing this cache, the information and research on each cache page was interesting. We appreciate the time and effort gone into creating this trail.
Good coordinates and a handy hint enabled a quick find of a nicely placed cache. We soon had our name added to the log.
Thanks for this cache Icybeetas. Workers were very busy clearing the hill opposite but were oblivious to our presence.
What an amazing trek/ride it's been with the great company of the CO...icybeetas.
Without doubt the best geocaching trail I've ever done and highly reccommended for all.
The terrain and forest is awesome to say the least.
A massive thank you to icybeetas for his tremendous work in putting this trail together, a real feat when you either have to walk or ride to complete.
I just hope many cachers take up the challenge to enjoy this trail as much as I have.
It's now well after 3pm and still 18km back down.
Wowee...boy did it get cold quick with both of us chilled to the bone by the time we reached our cars.
What an epic adventure and still 7km of trail left for another day.
I can't thank icybeetas enough for the company and his effort in creating this series....simply awesome and a day I'll never forget....cheers ST.
