Description

Years ago the only way across the Bloomfield River here was the causeway.  Whenever I came up along the Daintree Track,  I had to time my arrival here to coincide with low tide.  Some people were not as careful about their crossing and many a vehicle was washed off the causeway.  It took until 2014 for a bridge to be built to enable traffic to flow regardless of the tidal conditions.  This year my ability to drive up through Cape Tribulation was again impeded but this time by the weather.  There had been so much rain that I decided to drive up through Lakeland as we now tow a large van.  Imagine my surprise when I saw this beautiful bridge.  Times change and looking at the view of the causeway I am mighty glad there is a bridge.  I wonder which one you would have preferred to drive across the day you visited nearby.

I know which I would have preferred today. Not only has half the causeway disappeared - washed away or destroyed to discourage anyone from attempting a crazy crossing - but the rain has swollen the river gigantically.
