Description

This is one of a series of 5 Traditional caches designed to lead you on a walk around the Townsville V8 track.

In July each year Townsville hosts a round of the V8 Supercar Championship on our own purpose built track. Located just south of the CBD, the circuit winds its way through Reid Park where specially constructed roads form approximately 70 percent of the 2.86km circuit. Set in parklands around the Station, Civic Theatre and Townsville State High School, the track proved to be a challenge for the drivers and popular with the fans. For the rest of the year the facilities provide and entertainment precinct, driver training and outdoor exercise areas.  Keep in mind that there are two major roads included in the circuit so you will need to be careful from both safety and muggle perspectives.

This is a small screw top plastic container with a couple of racing themed swaps. You will need a pencil. This is right on the main straight and is an extremely high traffic area so be careful.

Congratulations Champs2Monkeys FTF

Caching in the area, we looked and failed to find this cache.

We have replaced the cache in the guard rail to keep it in play as the CO is no longer active.

Found this easily but now wondering why after so long since the last find and the previous finder having no luck. We found a small round black container with a log at the co-ordinates - guess it was this cache and not a new GC cache waiting for publication. Shocked TFTC The Dippys.

So wanted to get all the caches in this series but this one will have to wait till we return. Workmen were pulling down the scaffolding right at GZ. Thanks.

Agree with the feeling of being exposed. Luckily we were searching on a Sunday arvo, not in peak traffic! need to learn to listen to youngest, who said she saw something, but she didn't get it herself. EmbarassedEmbarassedEmbarassed

We felt so exposed searching for this one but it is a bit of an attraction so I suppose we probably didn't look that out of place. It took a while before Pagan suggested a likely type of hide and sure enough, that's what it was! Tricky one. Thanks Smile

OK this was found accidentally whilst doing a recon for a planned GC.com cache series. I may have discovered a whole new world.

About an hour out of town on our way back from a weekend in Cairns, the phone started to chirp, and it was not our usual cache publication notification. Never seen a new GCA cache here before.

Dropped of Grandma and went straight to the track. Easy find for us and we enjoyed the visit.

Oh, and FTF.... TNLN, TFTC
