Description

Along with other new caches along Dooley's Trail, a great loop walk can be had by parking as per Secluded Falls cache, walking back down the road and along Chilcotts road, down the 4wd track to the river

where you'll meet up with Dooley's Trail at S41 18.894 E146 11.975

From here you can walk either north or south picking up various caches and combine into a loop walk going back up the Groove Creek track....see notes and map at....wilmotwalkingtracks.com/

Also, could Geocachers please note any fallen logs or debris across the track in their cache log as an aid to keeping the trails maintained. As you can appreciate that with the trail

extending over a large distance, maintenance is a real issue, especially with only a handfull of volunteers.

The cache is a small black sistema with log book, small swaps and pencil.

Enjoy!

Set out to do Dooleys Trail with Goose&Egg and Stainless steel rat, a beautiful area and worth a visit but not for the faint hearted if you do the entire trail at once I left a scout behind in all the caches that were big enough. tftc

It was clear as we came to ground zero that there was little chance of this hide still being in place since there was over a metre high pile of stuff that had been washed along by the flood, we spotted the hide location from the hint and replaced the cache with a new one.

Replaced at 14:38

We were not surprised to come up empty handed here (number 6 was very lucky to survive). The big log is still here.....and lots more too. Another SSR replacement cache was carefully put into place. If I have the right cache in my head then this was close to a shelter that was a little worse for wear. A good solid framework but not much more.

The one and only cache done today along the short part of the Dooley's trail we walked. We were in the Sprent Pines today playing on the four wheelers and went down one track which took us nearly to this cache so we grabbed it while we were there. We were planning to complete the track soon but the water flow today was strong and so I think it will have to wait till late spring. Thanks.

Cache was found without any problems in the obvious spot. We stopped for a rest and a snack in the little shelter.

Found on our caravan and caching holiday to the North West coast finding caches that had been published since our last visit and this was one of them.

After finding the 2 Secluded Falls caches we continued on to find 5 of the newly published Dooleys Heritage Trail caches.

We stopped for a break at the hut before finding the cache thanks to the specific hint.

Thanks sirius for an amazing and memorable days caching.

We left "Dooleys Heritage Trail - Walters Crossing" at 10:35am and headed back upstream. Again we had to be very careful on small sections of the track because of the conditions but we got back to where the Chilcott's Road 4WD track joined Dooley's Track without any major problems. We continued on for another 100m to look for this cache. Although it was a rather rough construction, we appreciated the shelter provided by the hut. We made a quick excursion out of the hut to retrieve the cache - accurate coordinates and the hint led to another quick find - and then returned to the hut to sign the log so that the cache and it's contents would remain relatively dry. This was a "hat-trick" of FTFs for the day at 11:10am which made the walk in the now very inclement conditions very worthwhile.

After replacing the cache we retraced our steps by about 100m and then started the arduous trek back up this very steep track - it rose about 190m in 900m with the first section being the steepest. Surprisingly it wasn't as slippery going us as coming down. Even more surprising, we were able to get back to the car about 40 minutes after leaving Dooley's Track - we are not as unfit as we had thought.

We got back to the car to be greeted by a squadron of black cockatoos letting us know, in very vocal terms, that we were in their area and that we should leave. We obliged as we had an early afternoon appointment back in town. Thanks Sirius Tas for these three memorable caches today - it was a great way to spend a very wet morning in an area we really enjoy. We will return in the near future to look for the other recently published caches but will probably access them from the Groove Creek Track.
