Description

Log a glass roofed structure

Glass RoofThose who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but you can take photos.

For this locationless, find buildings or structures that have glass roofs where you can clearly see the sky through it. Take a photograph from the inside of the building looking up so we can see the glass and the sky. Take other shots too if it helps put the roof into context.

Shopping malls, greenhouses, conservatories, and even some modern skyscrapers have views to the outside from the inside.

Note: this is not for skylights but for whole roofs.

Tamworth NSW
The Atrium Shopping Centre has a glass roof section and is a light and pleasant place to visit in cooler weather. The 30+ days in summer are a different story, consequently as shown in my pic a shade sail is hung up to take the heat and glare out of the sun radiating through the roof. Hard to know if the glass roof is a good idea... Think TF another L for Cachepoly ziggiau.

The Louvre Paris. Le Pyramid and it's glass roof...

An amazing piece of art work...for a place that is all about art work. Been there twice now, and still haven't seen everything. Maybe 3rd lucky...although who knows when that would be.

A couple of photo's attached. Le Pyramid itself, one a cold and wet day, then from down below looking up.

Thanks Ziggiau....good to cross off a couple of older ones among all the new ones.

We were in Perth on holiday and we were just walking around the CBD area of Perth caching and looking for things that may be locationless. Found this Domed Glass roof in a shopping centre just off the Hay Street Mall. You can see the clouds and the GPSr. Was not sure so when not sure it is either me or the GPS. "The Galleries" in Sydney, opposite the QVB, has a large open space in the middle with a glass roof.

Nearby is Kinokuniya (bookshop), The Arthouse Hotel, and Ichi-Ban Boshi (seen in the photo - awesome Japanese food).

After a morning doing RainbowSpirit's Fruit Trail series out at Cecil Hills, we stopped in at Revesby Works for Vietnamese and I snapped this glass roof while we waited for our meals.

This large domed roof is on top of Westfield Hornsby at the southern end. And judging from the few strategically placed buckets on the ground 3 levels below is not totally waterproof. There is another one at the northern end someone else can claim, that was actually damaged by an EF2 tornado a couple of years ago which caused some local damage and overturned a demountable building at Hornsby station that had some train crews taking a break in it. Coming home that day police had blocked access to my street for some reason, even though the damage trail started north of my house and went away from us with no trees down around home luckily.

This glass roof is over a courtyard in the Forestry Tasmania headquarters building, 79 Melville Street, Hobart. The Architect: Morris-Nunn and Associates.

Today we visited the State Library Of Victoria, in particular the Latrobe Room which is dominated by an enormous domed roof which consists of reinforced curved concrete beams with large glass panels in between. It is a really overwhelming structure. The glass in the roof is probably safe from anyone throwing stones because of its height above the floor of the Latrobe Room. The required photo has been added to the Gallery.

Sydney Metcenter, close to the escalator up and down.

I visit it once per week: To get a bag of carrots and to get a loaf of bread.

Went down to meet the wife at the extension to the old Werribee PLaza now called Pacific Werribee.

Squillions of dollars still to be spent.

The new mall has a nice glass roof.

Took a snap then on for Mexican it was.

This was the roof that inspired this locationless in the first place so I figured it deserves logging now. This is Rockdale Plaza (on the creatively named Rockdale Plaza Drive) which has a high rise apartment block tacked on the back which you can see towering over the glass roof.

Glasshouses at Pohlman's Nursery, Adare, Qld

I visited the open day at Pohlman's Nursery a couple of weeks ago and grabbed the opportunity to have a tour over the whole site. I've never seen so many plants, nor have I ever seen so many glass houses.

This roof is above one of the gates at Sydney Domestic terminal. I was on my way to Cairns.

When this hotel first opened it was called The Atrium because of the glass roof which allowed a great tropical garden to grow inside. Thanks for an interesting locationless. Very HappyVery Happy

Yay!! FTF (It's been a while since we had a First to Find.)
This conical glass roof protects the Victorian heritage listed Coop's Shot Tower, in Melbourne's CBD.
Coop's Shot Tower was completed in 1888 and is 50 metres high. The historic building was saved from demolition in 1973 and was incorporated into Melbourne Central shopping complex in 1991 underneath this 84 m-high conical glass roof.

We took this photo while collecting info for another cache nearby (Melbourne Movie Trivia).
