Description

Smithers Revenege - complete with original incorrect spelling.

This was a Groundspeak cache GC1BGNZ, and I found it still in situ, and as it is right next to a newer Groundspeak cache GC3QMD7 it cannot be reactivated.

Groundspeak won't let me log it, as they have locked the listing, but they can't / won't explain why or even entertain any conversation about their policies on archived/locked caches.

This is their response when I asked : "Unfortunately, I'm not able to discuss this situation with you or any other account with you. I'm sorry, but this cache will remain locked. "

I never asked to discuss other accounts, so that's a weird response.  All I want is their policy information on locked/archived caches, I even offered to remove this cache to help the confusion with two caches being so close, but they ignored that so it has now being rejuvenated as a GA cache!

This cache has the original GC logbook, you may log this GA cache if you have already visited this cache, but you cannot claim FTF unless you re-visit and re-sign the log book.

This cache is a plastic camouflaged container, it is NOT an ammo can. (that is the nearby GC cache)

This is the original listing :

A nice view is what awaits you when you seek this cache.
Just off a main road and a short walk for this one, it is commoed in my ususal ways so if you've done mine before you'll be right with this one.
Plenty of room for swaps and T/B's so bring some along.
You should have plenty of cover from the nearby houses but the main road above you head is always buzzing with traffic.
Enjoy!

Finally found it as I've drove past few times.
The log book was soaked and rot.

I was up this way today and decided to stop by at this 'two-for-one' site given that I'd found this in its GC incarnation almost 13 years ago. Shocked Alas upon finding it again today (at 12:30), it was disappointing to see that the container was totally full of water Sad and the logbook was a soggy mess. Crying or Very sad I was looking forward to seeing my log from that long ago find but the logbook was too wet to try and work my way through so I somehow managed to sign my name in it again, replaced the stash and headed off to seek its GC neighbour. Oh well.

TNLNSL. Thanks atsmug.

Arrived at GZ and started the search...and it wasn't too long before the well camo'd cache was spotted. Like the way it was tucked away looking very nature.

Interesting story re the listing....great to see it here in Geocaching Australia.

Thanks Atsmug....Recommended.

Found when out with ChrisWhite62 on a geocaching run on Christmas Day. I don’t normally do GA caches but this one was very close to two other GC caches. TFTC

Out and about with my son on Christmas Day geocaching in Victoria. Needed another trophy and some points for Tasmania in the States of the Nation game. Luckily there was a geocaching Australia cache nearby where we were staying. The cache was near another one I had already found before I was getting Geocaching Australia caches

We had idenfified this cache as a GCA hide well worth finding. It has had an interesting history and looked like it might be a challenge to locate.

We followed our GPS through the park and soon had found an access point to the top part of the park. As we headed towards the top we made plenty of noise incase some local slitthery bests happened to be in the vacinity. Accurate coordinates lead to a quick find of a beautifully camoflagued container hidden so that it blended into the surroundings. Both the cache container and contents were in good condition. We were thrilled to find an old cache with its original log book

Thanks Atsmug for rescuing and maintaining this old cache. We certainly enjoyed visiting it today and hope it stays in place for many years to come.

This find gave us a Dragon Zone cache find in Whittlesea and this leaves us only Nillumbik

After finding this cache we took a look around for several GC caches.

This was a simple find (after the challenge of trying to find the way up to this one). Simple find? I found this when it was owned by HomerJay. Now there's a geocacher from the past. Very enthusiatic fellow indeed but I suspect this may be part of the reason the original listing was locked.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for taking this one over and letting me come back and get a 2nd smiley Smile

I took the scenic route from Whittlesea, where we farewelled a friend that survived the Black Saturday fires, but recently succumbed to leukaemia.

The original hide was familiar, so I didn't have to think too hard about where to park or how to approach this one. Thanks, atsmug, for the link to the past... the nostalgia was strong, here.

This was our first attempt to find a cache as it is close to where we live.
My 11yo son was so excited when we found it! I have looked at this view so many times as a passenger when driving up & down this road, I've always said I'd stop one day to look at properly; today was that day! Good fun, thank you!

We were in the area so decided to grab a few caches. This only took a minute to find once I realised the general location.
Thanks atsmug for the cache. Seems like a good one to keep alive.

#GA1025 - 17:30; I decided to make use of a spare day in Victoria with the geoteen to head north from Melbourne along the path taken by Burke and Wills (and others) to collect some more of the caches in this series. The plan was to reach Bendigo, then head on to Elmore before heading back to the big smoke. I'd collected my first for the day at Queens Park in Moonee Ponds, which had proved a bit of a nemesis cache for me until today. I'd collected a few more in the series at Bolinda Creek, Lancefield, Baynton, Mia Mia, Heathcote, Knowlesly and Bendigo before continuing on to Elmore for the last in that series for today and heading back towards Melbourne. I had a bit of time up my sleeve on the return leg, so took the detour to collect this cache along the way. Collected the nearby Letterbox Hybrid, then took the short stroll for this one too. A nice quick find and sign to wrap up the caching mission for the day. TFTC atsmug Very HappyClan Cerberus

I am the first person to find this cache and have my name in the logbook now that it is a GCA cache. Dancing

Last night I was searching for caches to take my 10 year old niece to today and this one popped up. I had previously found this as an archived GC cache (and was unable to log my find) so I brought my niece here and allowed her to search. She doesn't have a systematic approach to searching yet but she had fun. After I pointed her in the general direction she found the foreign object. She signed my name in the log and then we headed off to find a ammo can.

Thanks atsmug for providing this cache for a young cacher to find. Smile
