In the southern highlands for some fun with trigs and traditionals. TFTC

I was in Goulburn for an afternoon GC event, and decided if I was driving all the way out here, I may as well find a few caches before I head back to Canberra. After getting way too distracted with exploring/looking at stuff (half the fun of Geocaching) looking for a GC cache and not finding it, taking a selfie at an interesting CORS trig on a school building, getting fuel at the cheapest place I could find (and well worth finding it instead of just being a sheep and getting fleeced at the big stop near the highway), doing an easy GC Multi, and a GA Trad, nearby - it had got dark - so I decided that rather than my original plan to go back to the middle of town and grab a couple of virtuals and maybe an AL, it might be fun to come down this way to grab this one, then go across a bit where there are a few more GA caches (so I can have a few shots in the current Battleships game) then head down the highway and collect whatever GC and GA I have not yet "collected" at collector ... but I am not sure I will find that many around here,et alone down the Highway, seeing I spent so long finding this one, and it is now after 9pm! (and there is a howling gale outside my car - lol - and it is starting to rain)
TFTC - I looked for ages, had fun poking around in the interesting looking bushes - so I was thinking that if I couldn't find the cache, then - rather than all the distractions while caching being half the fun - in this case, they would have to be all the fun ... after about the 5th "I might just have one more look here before I go" and my GPS settling while I read some previous logs, and telling me I was 1m away, I figured I would have a bit more of a look, and maybe "have a closer look at that ____ just over there" ... and found the cache
hmmm ... 2 or 3 years of unlove there ... and yes, it is very well hidden - tucked away safely in its ground level hidey hole, in good condition. pity I didn't have a better look there a lot sooner ... I had dismissed that spot, thinking it didn't match the hint ... but I guess it actually does - just wasn't the hint usually given for where/how it was hidden, so I was looking everywhere else - lol

Caching in Goulburn today and Mr T made the descent to this one. Took a while to find but it is there.

On my way back from the coast I was able to stop here as no one was in residence. The ache was not where I had feared, but still a challenge to find.
Thanks

After Pacmania's log, I thought I'd better check this cache. Took a while to find, even though I was pretty certain where it was. I was right...but it was well-hidden.
Good to go...

Attempt 1 23/12/17 - attempted quick stop on our way to the coast but the road we came in on was closed so I decided to try again from a different direction on my way home.
Attempt 2 25/12/17 - came in from other end and then realised I was on the wrong road altogether. Darn! Another time maybe.

We did some reconnaisence yesterday as we were not at all sure about how we should access this cache. After taking a look from above and below we settled on the slidng from above.
We walked across the bank until the GPS indicated we were at right angles to the hide then made our way slowly down. When we were10m from GZ we spotted a flash of blue so made a bee line to it. The container was found under a piece of bark. All was well with container and contents.
We had been hoping for a cave of some sort but no such luck. One of Tasmania's oldest caches is Dragons Lair that requires an abseil down or a very tough climb from below.
No Predator was seen however the area around the cache site looked snakey to us so we moved up the bank as quickly as we could.
Thanks for this cache Gazza959.

Second day of caching in the Goulburn/Crookwell area. The weather is perfect, nice and clear and low twenties, all you can wish for caching. Again a lot of nice caches and a few I missed yesterday, all finished at the event at the historic waterworks. Then rushing back to the Illawarra to make the home event there!
Thanks to all the cache owners for putting out the caches, keep up the good work and nice to have met a few of you last night.

I could not stop as another car was parked under the bride. Maybe another cache as it would be an odd spot for a nap.

#GA1040 - 11:40; Out on a day run to Goulburn with Sol de lune to collect a few of the newer caches in the area, plus some of the local trigs. Didn't expect to find a blank log sheet when we made it to GZ seeing the cache was published two months ago, but hey presto a *FTF*! It was also nice to note that there was no revenue raising taking place in the vicinity either TFTC gazza959

Headed up the highway from Canberra with LuckyL10n for a day of caching...and this one was high on the list. Saw it when it was published and thought the *FTF* would be gone before we could get here, but as happens with GCA's, it sat for a while...and a while. We worked out our approach....not from the highway....and after a bit of a scramble, we had the cache in hand.
Thanks Gazza959.....good to see another GCA out in the field. Oh, and no fine collectors were spotted today.
