Description

You are looking for a preform tube popped behind the sign.

Bendigo Woollen Mills was started by two local families in Kangaroo Flat in 1984 and moved to its current location back in 1988. They source all of their wool in Australia which is then shipped to China for couring (washing, carding and combing) and turned into tops.  These tops are then sent back to the mill to be transformed into one of the many varieties and colours available.

Historic Factory Buildings

The historic buildings occupied by the Bendigo Woollen Mills were built in 1901 by the Bendigo Electric Supply Company and were part of the Bendigo power generating and tramways complex. Coal powered generators - which used to be located in the main factory building – provided all of Bendigo’s electricity including the tramways system. In 1934 the State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) took over the buildings and continued to operate for many years.

I was looking at the wrong description when i searched for this one and my gps had me a little out so it took me a while. Eventually it came to hand. lovely!

Today is the first time i have set out to find Geocache Australia caches. I forgot all about the app and typed coords into geooh go instead which was a bit painful. I had a fun time finding seven and DNFing five.

First cache for the day and a quick find at GZ.
Being a Sunday the place was deserted which made searching for the two caches in the area easier.
A great location and two impressive old buildings to be seen from here.
Time to leave Bendigo now and head to Echuca for a day before making our way back to Geelong.
Thanks WazzaAndWenches.

Found today while restraining ourselves to fill GC calendar days tomorrow.
Spot on coords has us in the right place despite geosense wanting us to look elsewhere.

Out and about caching in the Bendigo area today, the weather's perfect but supposed to rain tomorrow so trying to get as many GCA caches as possible. This one was a quick find once we managed to find somewhere to park, a busy place this morning but noone about at the critical moment. TFTC

Out and about again caching around Bendigo. We love caching here as plenty of GCA caches. It was certainly cold today. Parked closed and made the find.TFTC

After taking photos for a nearby virtual we noticed this cache was close by outside one of Mrs Y'stassies favourite shopping venues. Bendigo Woolen Mills make beautiful blankets that are first class fabrics for embroidered blankets. Several members of our family have been recipients of these.

Accurate coordinates led us to a simple but very effective hide. The container and contents were in very good condition. After signing the log and replacing the cache Mrs Y'stassie was just about to ask the other half for a minute to dash in and check out the merchandise when she noticed that the retail outlet was not open on Sunday. She was not having a good day firstly no chocolate at an earlier cache now no fabric. Just as well the caching was going well.

Our thanks to The Morris for this cache.

A plea from our all-grown-up daughter to bring some of her stuff to Bendigo gave us an opportunity to find a few GCA caches during the rushed trip. Some planning helped us in not having to backtrack, although the showgrounds cache required a second visit due to the pony club meeting. We still managed to make it home in time for our afternoon commitment, and with 6 FTF's as well Dancing.

I have vague memories of a GC cache being in the area a long time ago but nothing is showing up on the map so I guess it's been archived. Today was a quick stop and grab on a very hot afternoon.

Our thanks to The Morris for placing this GCA cache.
