Description

How difficult? Not very, it's only a 2 [SSS]

The Summer Scavenger Series suggests that we hide a difficulty 2 geocache to gain some points for our clan. (Go, Go, Griffin Gold!)

This geocache should suit that scavenge easily. You are looking for a small 200ml sistema container but you don't have to worry about all the plants and bushes around, it's not hidden in there. Press your way through the bushes and you will find yourself in a steel and concrete court area. Why a difficulty 2? Well you will be surrounded by steel walls in an enclosed space with more than a few places that the geocache could be hiding. The difficulty 2 means you will need to check a few before coming across the cache as the co-ordinates are not likley to be helpful in such a narrow area with limited view of the sky. The hint will be useful to some extent but this will be just a case of search and maybe search some more.

I hope you make your way out to this geocache and enjoy the series along the Western Freeway Path.

Today we cached along the Western Fwy Path and found your cache along the way. Log book was sodden, but we managed to add our name.

Many thanks caughtatwork for placing this cache.

It took an hour to find the first nine hides this afternoon.
Then I discovered that I'm not as tough as I once was.
In the push to get to the last cache I managed to scratch my hand and noticed that I was bleeding.
Thankfully I carry a first aid kit in my cache bag. Sitting on a convenient ledge I doctored myself up.

Arriving here soon after and I also could not find anything obvious... until I read the hint properly.
Then that "AHA" moment. Looking further afield I spotted the cache, upside down, in the middle.
Getting in there proved tricky but I was determined.
Upon opening the cache I found is was more than moist inside.
Tipping the excess water out I then attacked the sodden log book.
Fortunately I have a new powertank pen and it proved equal to the task.
Sadly, the clip no longer attaches to the container.
Not having a suitable replacement or spare log book on me, I dried everything the best I could and replaced it, out of sight.

PS: 711 unloved days here. Just 3 weeks shy of 2 years. BONUS!
I took a few photos of the situation as I went.
Exiting was a tad tricky but I went out a little to the west of GZ, without drawing any more blood.
Thanks for the fun diversion. A totally unexpected location here today.

Forcing my way in there after months of growth was the first bit of entertainment. Then no joy; While I can't state that it's definitely not there, an inspection mirror and the food torch were unsuccessful, especially if it's a similar hide to a few of the others.

I decided to continue exploring the western bike trails... this time the Western Freeway was my target, so I caught the train to Sunshine to ride the last section of the Kororoit Creek before continuing westward.

A fine evening, and a mostly successful hunt (apart from a couple of fruitless scrambles in the bushes), and edging closer to the 10% target I want to maintain.

#GA1844 - 09:18; Day two of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. Our major goal for the week is to complete the SSS and other series along the Western Freeway/Ring Road and to then collect enough GCA caches around Docklands to bring our total finds for the day to 100+ which would build our trophy cabinets a bit more as we complete a few more 'missions'. This was one of 82 finds in just under 6 hours along the various series, where we only had the one DNF! Another nice quick find on this one as we powered along the bike path. Apologies for the mostly generic logs. TFTC caughtatwork Very HappyClan Cerberus

Off and running along the path and it was simply a matter of riding, stopping, finding the cache, signing the log, replacing the cache and then moving on to the next one. No problems here and we were soon on our way again.

Thanks for another one C@W....

We spent the morning walking the bike/walking paths along side the Western Highway. We enjoyed the variety of hides, the accuracy of the coordinates and the size of the containers. Most caches were quick finds and the caches and their contents were in good condition. Getting access to GZ was not as easy as with the other caches but after a little trial and errors, we got there where we were able to make a quick find. Thanks caughtatwork for this cache and the many placed in the area.

Found this while out with mummy.

How difficult? Well it wasn't a difficult find but it was a difficult access. I ended up picking the path of least resistance and still managed to score a few scratches.

Thanks C@W

***FTF***

Maybe it was just me.

But I've done easier difficulty 4's.

Eventually I did get there.
