Description

An annoying wall of rocks [SSS]

An annoying wall of rocks [SSS] is a difficulty 2 geocache hidden for the Summer Scavenger Series.

You really shouldn't have too much trouble here. There is a very old stone wall at GZ where you will be looking for a 200ml brown sistema container. While the rock wall has no heritage value (we checked), please be gentle when moving the rocks round and replace them as you found them. You will not need to move any rocks larger than a handspan, so avoid turning over the larger boulders. There is nothing under there except maybe a snake or some spiders. The smaller fist sized rocks should contain the prize that you seek as anything too large may crack the lid. Please be gentle when replacing the rocks so you do not damage the geocache.

Today we cached along the Western Fwy Path and found your cache along the way. Cache and contents were in good condition.

Many thanks GabGab for placing this cache.

There were plenty of possible places... I started looking, then discovered the cache in the open a metre or so away from the rocks. I guess the hinted pile was a tad too suspicious... now hidden in a crevice at a high point.

I decided to continue exploring the western bike trails... this time the Western Freeway was my target, so I caught the train to Sunshine to ride the last section of the Kororoit Creek before continuing westward.

A fine evening, and a mostly successful hunt (apart from a couple of fruitless scrambles in the bushes), and edging closer to the 10% target I want to maintain.

Thanks, C@W.

The cache appears to be MIA so we'll archive it for now.

Sadly I think this is gone. I found the fist sized rocks but no cache, a smashed bottle was in its place. I expanded my search and found nothing along the wall.

#GA1861 - 10:38; Day two of a caching mission to Victoria with Sol de lune. Our major goal for the week is to complete the SSS and other series along the Western Freeway/Ring Road and to then collect enough GCA caches around Docklands to bring our total finds for the day to 100+ which would build our trophy cabinets a bit more as we complete a few more 'missions'. This was one of 82 finds in just under 6 hours along the various series, where we only had the one DNF! This was our first stop on the second stage as we now headed east towards the city and yes they were annoying but we got over it Rolling Eyes Apologies for the mostly generic logs. After grabbing the last of the caches in our first leg of the path, LuckyL10n and I arrived back at our start point and started along this next section.

Following the hint here, we still took a good 5 minutes before the right spot was checked.....for the second time I think.

No problems though the log was soon signed. Thanks for another in the series GabGab...

We had arrived in Melbourne early to catch the Spirit of Tasmania back to Tassie tonight. That gave us the opportunity to look for more caches along the Western Ring Path, ones that we didn't find in April because we ran out of time. We were pleased that the rain of yesterday had gone and, apart from a cold breeze, the walking conditions were very pleasant. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks GabGab for the cache and the series.

The wall may be annoying but with1m to go on the GPS the cache was an easy find. This looks like the remnants of an old stone wall which would, in the old days, probably have been quite a site. Alas, nowadays it sits ruined and waiting for the passing of time,.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache here GabGab.
