Description

The first cache with the first number to allow you to find http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga10000.

Parking is at S33° 45.128' E150° 38.603'.

Just follow the sealed track (It was used as a main road until the M4 opened) all the caches are a short and I do mean short distance off the main track.

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9996 will give you "D"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9997 will give you "C"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9998 will give you "B"

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga9999 will give you "A"

While there do take time to check out the Knapsack Viaduct this started life as part of the Lapstone Zig Zag western train line and was then used as a main road after the Glenbrook deviation.

Please replace all camo rocks carefully as this place gets busy. All the caches are mostly out of sight from the main track but take care.

Found the first one, we opened it and found the logbook. Unfortunately, it was our first cache ever and we didn't know we needed to bring a pen. Was quite difficult to find and will sign it next time we are there!
Thanks

I had two of these leftover, so went on a walk with geodad to find them. Alas, we could not find either...and dad's memory was not clear enough to be sure where he found them years ago.

Well there was no better way to finish caching in 2018 by doing GCA 10000th cache. So on this very hot day I arrived at the recommended parking coords and headed off to no.4 in the series. Should be a quick and easy walk. It's all along the road , he says, just follow the sealed track, he says...... well a Rogerw3 cache is never that simple and here I found myself slipping and sliding down a slope. The gps sent me everywhere but GZ and by the time I eventually found it the sweet was all but pouring off me. But I did remember to sign the log and note the number.

I had a lovely spontaneous drive down to visit 2 of my daughters on the coast and surprise one of them for a birthday breakfast. In all honesty, it was really an excuse to get outdoors and play because I was getting pretty low and only had 2 midweek days off work. So I knew I was geocaching after breakfast but not where. Thought Mossvale or Goulburn, but in the end the temptation was too great. I'm taking the long way home and finding those cool bridge caches!

As the caches took me a little off the main track, I ended up wandering a bit and exploring the things in the area - old metal junk, graffiti, plants, rocks, creek beds, roadsides, AND EVEN TOILETS (GA9999 appears to also be the local bush toilet location). This meant that from the carpark to GA 10K and back I took much longer than I should... was it really nearly 5 hours?! It was lunch time when I went in thinking I'll eat after, and it was sunset when I came out. hahahaha. And my kids thought I had to hurry back home. No I was just hurrying off to geocache before going home. I got home before midnight at least. hahaha.

Thanks for this geocache series here rogerw3. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I did film the adventure, but I haven't been in a film editing mood lately so hopefully I'll get it done soon. Smile

Now I feel justified to get the matching geocoin. Smile

Holy smokes batman what a cache, this 1 for what ever reason was a hard arse to find – some will say shit easy – well for me it was hard. Once found I was very relieved BUT WAS kicking myself as I looked around GZ area many times & didn’t spot it. WHY oh WHY but that is the way of caching, all numbers found & now it’s time when I get a chance I will return to nail the multi & that I will do – well a lot of praying & the caching gods I hope are on my side. As you are my “Obsessed Hunter” I must hunt you down & keep finding your caches.
There is a back story, I did an arse slide down the hill to GZ area well about 13 metres out & was looking for cache as a bike rider pulls up & he asks if every thing is fine – “YEP” no worries here. He looked with a puzzle & rode off. Yep, no worries here BUT I’M trying to find a cache that is GETTING to me. That is life. I did another close by cache to here & noticed that you were here in the last week or two. I guess doing a cache maintenance run or placing more caches for this “Obsessed Hunter” so keep up the good work – I would recommend this cache but I will see how the multi goes – any way a good cache found - TFTC / TFTH / SL

10K – 4 wow it was very busy here this morning, – well this gave me grief – with dense tree cover it made finding this cache a challenge – I felt like I was traveling around in circles, up & down in heights – used 2 GPS’s in the end still couldn’t nail this 1 – will be back not giving up.

Found It!
This one took me a lot longer to spot then it should have and I have no idea why. It's so obvious when you see it...

This one was misleading, as a stick hid the cache, not a stone. I hoped around GZ for a while being so close to the cache the whole time. TFTC

#GA2463 - 11:20; Day one of a caching mission in the Blue Mountains with Sol de lune. After an early start in Canberra, we collected a few of the newer caches along the highway before we reached the foot of the mountains and started the major part of the mission, to collect GCA caches to help us meet some dragonZone trophy requirements. We had a handful already when we reached the convenient parking area for this cache at the start of the 10K series trail. After collecting the cache near the carpark, we set off along the trail. Reached GZ for this cache and started the search. Despite good coords and the GPSr working well, we managed to make finding this one much harder than it needed to be. Got it in the end though and after signing the log and noting the clue, we set off again. TFTC rogerw3 Very HappyClan Cerberus

Up with LuckyL10n for a 2 day run around the Blue Mountains and this little series was our main objective today. Parked the car at the obvious spot and after grabbing the nearby cache there, we started the walk along the trial.

Didn't take long to work out where this was going to be and we were soon here searching for it. Not a great effort on our part here as it took almost 10 to locate it....and when we did the GPSr was telling us 2 metres. Cache blindness or what!!

Anyway, our names were soon in the log, the clue was noted...and with the cache replaced we ee off to the next one.

Thanks RogerW3......we are on our way to GA10,000..... Very HappyVery HappyClappingClappingDancingDancing

Mr T and I usually walk the path to Knapsack bridge to do birdwatching. Today we left the track near my GC cache and headed down the slope. Enjoyed walking along a trail we havnt done before. This one was a quick find. signed log and got the clue. Then returned as found. TFTC

I figured that if I'm going to get into the GCa world then what better way than to do #10,000. But not today ... I got halfway to GZ before I saw I had to do some prep work, so just -3 and -4 done today. And damn, I just realised I didn't get the info I was supposed to at this one, and it's a hard slog for an overweight, unfit old fella to have to go back there again ... oh well, c'est la vie!

BTW, the pen for -3 is here. Can the next finder take it back please?

Had a great outing today, tracking down rogerw3's 10K series of caches!

Found this one without problems.

All was well with the cache and there are still lots of swaps left for future finders.

TNLNSL.

Many thanks to rogerw3 for a great hide and a great series!

Team MavEtJu proposed having a go at this series and it sounded like a great idea during the school holidays. Great weather and an early morning start had us in good spirits and allowed us to make a quick find. 1 down, 4 to go. Thanks rogerw3.

It was a beautiful day on which ziggiay, MrSmash, DingoMan007, HanorahTLG and signed undertook the quest to capture the 10,000th cache. But before that we needed to find the clues!

Quick find, that makes it clear what we are looking for in the rest of the series. TFTC!

Came in from the bottom past the John Whitton memorial, but once at GZ realised that it was not necessary. I the climb out was a little steep and I was glad I didn't have to go back down...but later realised that I didn't get the magic number, so had to return later anyway. TFTC

This cache and the other related ones were published just after we started planning for this trip. Mrs y'stassie really wanted to add these to our itinary even though we would be pushed for time as we headed back to catch the boat home. A few tweeks here and there and they became part of the trip.

After a quick trip to Eberneezer to collect a few target caches we left the car park just before 12:00 and were soon looking for a way to gz. A little scramble and we found the container - it is always good to find a decent sized container, well hidden with the log bagged.

After signing the log we replace the cache as found.

Thanks for this hide Rogerw3.

Came here after lunch with my dad earpt too much so decided to do this walk to give myself some exercise. Parked at the car park just over the railway bridge, walked back & found the Trainspotter cache. Then headed off to get this cache. Got close to GZ realised I was on a different level so walked back till I saw a gentle way in but then had to walk back to the cache. The GPSr decided to play games & made me walk in circles lucky no one could see me. Came across the cache in the second place I looked signed the log & replaced as found. Took note of the required details but decided to go back to my car for my walking pole to provide added support for my left knee. Thanks for the cache rogerw3

After an early visit to a friend in Nepean hospital it was then off to the parking at the end of Old Bathurst Road for a walk along the path to collect the 4 needed caches for info in order to get to GZ of the 5th and final cache of this series.
On a cooler overcast sort of day each cache was found in turn until arriving at the viaduct where the gathered numbers were entered for the fifth and final cache.

Met up with Team Merlin today to make a claim for the cache GA10000.
Just located 10K-1, 10K-2 and 10K-3
But needing 10K-4 cache before before we had the information to make a claim of the final.
Once parked we headed towards GZ making a quick find signing the logbook.
Noting the needed information we replaced as found.

Being out at Kingswood for work today, we organised to meet up with JJCC this afternoon for a walk to the viaduct and hunt out the newly released GA10000. Parking at the designated spot it wasn't long before we were at GZ of 10K-4. Eventually located the cache container and signed the log as 2TF.

Thanks rogerw3 for this series and congratulations on cache 10K

Was sitting around at home watching the football and my team was getting flogged again when I noticed that there was some new caches in the area.
Enter the moral dilemma, do I stay and support my team or do I race the setting sun to find the new caches???

The call of the hunt was too great.

Arriving at the the parking way point with about 10 minutes of daylight left I set out.
After a a few minute walk I am at the GZ and quickly rewarded with the find.
YES It's a FTF Very Happy

There is still a little light left I will head for 10K-3 and hopefully the rest in this series,

Thanks RogerW3 for the hunt, It has been a while since I have walked along the old road here, will have to come here more often in the daylight.
