Returning home from a trip to Queenstown and getting some caches. This was one of my target caches. Not the best of weather but it stopped raining as soon as I put on my coat. I must return in better weather. Thanks
Cache 1720 I headed to Bendigo for another Mountain dog challenge, What a cool place if I had more time I would have loved to explore more but my time was mainly spent on the Kanuka track 13.5km return from the car park here but amazing country, very beautiful T4TC
Out with Nelzarama who is visiting from Ballarat and looking round the historic ruins. Perfect spot with great views
A great spot to have a cache, particularly as there is also a nearby virtual. The views from here are fantastic and Kubabelle and I enjoyed walking through the old structures. We also had the 3 year old in tow who was making sure to alert us of all the rabbit and holes as we walked up to the cache Thanks for placing this trad. A great area to explore.
Oh and its not a BLACK plastic container as it says on the description, its transparent
#7354Day 7 of our NZ trip, we have a spare day starting up the Remarkables, then chasing cool caches around Cromwell Its been a great day!Took a while, we climbed far too much much in gale force windsTFTC!!
#7355Today is our last full day in NZ for this trip, so we decided to head up into the clouds up to the Remarkables, then head out to the Cromwell area. Had an awesome day doing some roadsides, along with a few walks as well! This took way too long to find! Found once we followed the coords and looked at some photos. TNLN SLTFTC
Missed it in one direction but spotted a SPOR on the way back and cache quickly in hand.
4 January 2024 12:13 TFTC Taylorm for placing this cache, number 13236 for me. An amazing spot on a beautiful day... wouldn't want to be here in winter though!
Day 9: Across the Lindis PassThe route for today brought us back to close the big loop of our Southern journey by passing through Omarama and the Lindis Pass and back into Cromwell where we stayed the night. This would be my first trip across the Pass and we found many caches along the way, including the highlight of the day at the Bendigo Historic Reserve. Thanks for all of the caches along the route!(End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for the cache:A nice little hike up to the cache, and after poking around a few wrong spots, the actual hide was located. These schist rocks really make for good natural hiding areas, and this was no different. The view here over the Clutha Valley is exquisite, and the solitude is calming. TFTC!
What an interesting piece of history and cool ruins. A definite favorite from us. TFTH
Down in the South Island on a roadie from Northland, with Dodge 1923.... interesting history and wonderful views everywhere. Great spot....Thanks for the hide
Day 14 of our most amazing, excellent adventure and each day is getting better and better. Today was exploring around Queenstown and after a little jump off a bridge we headed out to grab a few caches. Last one for our drive around the area and again great views. After stumbling around for a bit we eventually made the find. TFTC and bringing us here today
Such great views here, we enjoyed wandering around before kestal eventually spotted the cache. Thanks for hiding the cache and bringing us here, Taylorm!
Not very busy up here today, just one other car in the carpark. We walked up to GZ & spent a while peering under rocks. Eventually we got to the right spot, a lovely place to take in the view. Thanks for placing this cache.
Found that one on a sunny day on this beautiful island!

CAVE team didn’t find it, cool spot ! Looked up and down the large rock and under lots of rocks... that’s ok we have a picnic!
A bit of an adventure to find this one! Got covered in biddy-bids but worth it for the find once we got to the top. Kids were thankful for the toilet below the carpark, spotted just in time!
Found it! At Bendigo for Christmas Lovely views from the top.

Wow amazing to see where there was a cetilment and it great to see so many preserved for the younger generations to see how it used to be .
It's amazing what the early setlers built with what was at hand with nothing more than a pick znd shovel and the fact that dome are still standing over a 100 years on
As we explore central Otago we will see the remaing buildings from a similar time and how they survived the harshness of the environment.
Getting out and about in to the out doors is my happy place so any excuse to go caching.
Life is short. Live one foot step at a time.Never say" I'm gonna "- Just do it!!
Thanks for the hide

In Cromwell for Christmas and since I have been wanting to come here for a long time Gadget169 said right let's go for a wee drive and a geo adventure. Nice quick find here TFTC
Sorry about the delay in logging this one. It was raining heavily here so I made the decision not to open the container and risk getting the log wet so instead I quickly took a photo on my cell phone of the the container beside my GPS which was showing the cache distance on the screen however when I got to Gemstone Beach in Southland I had an incident with my phone which was damaged by sea water. The photos from the first 2 weeks of my trip which I thought were being saved to memory card were going onto the phone and we are currently trying to find a way to recover them. Sorry I currently have no proof of find but if we can recover them I will upload the photo. Thanks for placing the cache in such a cool place

Found with Hevic on a long weekend trip through Central and Northern Otago. After getting the nearby virtual, it seemed almost rude to not collect this one. Unfortunately my hip prevented me from making it all the way, so Hevic was the one to complete the scramble and sign the cache for us both. I did have a bit of fun admiring the view though - definitely worth coming up here. Cheers!
Loved exploring up here. QEF up here and magic views. Cheers.
Saturday 24 October. Alexandra, Cromwell, Bendigo and down to Dacra for the night.
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

A second day in this area for us (we enjoyed it that much) and this time we hiked past this cache, so were able to go for it. Glad we found it. Great area. We got dusty and dirty as did the dogs, but we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. TFTC.
Found just after Karoslav from CZ too, nice! Found after finishing morning shift in my job nearby.
#287 first time here on the top.cool place, would be great for bikes or picking.we stretched out legs and we are continuing on the way home.tftc
Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
Having fun in Cromwell today. Our last day of our adventure sadly. While mucking around here by the old homes Aiden went off to explore for this cache! She didn't come back empty handed, she found it, thank you for doing that on our behalf.

Gorby contacted me on Monday asking if I wanted to join him and Rebel98 on a trip to Queenstown for a long weekend. As I already had a week off in between jobs I was free to join them. We travelled from Queenstown to Te Anau, up the Milford Rd as far as we could, over to Cromwell before returning to Queenstown. Many adventures were had and many wonderful gems discovered. We signed with a variation of our own names or R. A. G.
We were heading to Cromwell and finally Queenstown to fly back to Auckland from our accommodation in Mossburn. Gorby saw the virtual at the old goldmine up here and suggested we head up here. Weren't sure our SUV was going to be able to make it up here but Rebel98 engaged his 4x4 driving and got us up here.
We had stopped at the virtual and continued walking around from there. I took the hard way to GZ, scrambling over the rocks in the heat to get to GZ. The GPS kept pointing further and further away but finally I made it. There were many places this could be, but thankfully I located the cache in the first place I looked.

Located this one during a cache raid of the Mainland. No problem with the find, thoroughly enjoyed our return visit after many years ago when we lived in Alex TFTC.
A good wander around Logantown - great history lesson for the Hubby and I.

Found while exploring the area. But of a slog up the hill carrying Miss pwh29! Thanks for placing!
Found with StreetWalker on day #4 of our extended Easter break. Today we are travelling from Clyde to Cromwell then onto the old gold fields of Logantown, then back to Clyde.
I was a bit worried about walking off track with all the warnings about the dangers of mine shafts, but SW didn't seem at all concerned and strode off. Great views up here and good to find another older cache. TFTC.

One of 15 located today between Cromwell and Roxburgh, including the Bendigo area, on day 2 of a week-long break in the Central Otago / Southland region.
We weren’t planning on heading up into them thar hills, but that’s just the way things panned out (no pun intended!). Fascinating history in regard to an area we’d never previously heard about. If it wasn’t for geocaching we probably wouldn’t have got to this neck of the woods. Very glad that we did. Fascinating seeing the remnants of a bygone era away up here!
Pleasant walk up to this one. Took a moment or two to find the right spot. #2392. TFTC.

#16969. Bit of a climb to get up here, and some good views as a reward. Checked out a few areas before I got to the right rock. TFTC.
Today we found Ruined in Cental (Otago) on our travels. A walk up the hill from the ruins while avoiding the rabbit holes we eventually located GZ and signed the log. A brief stop on the way back was made to admire those views.
Thanks Taylorm for being part of our geocaching fun.

It was a very hot day when we arrived at Bendigo. We could imagine how hard it might have been for the workers there. Thank you for leading us to this point!
On a days geocaching with Kiwi Heather and Aussie Pete.
Last cache for the day. What a great place. Would love to talk to people who lived up there many years ago to see what the hardships were like etc. TFTC

We are on our summer holiday driving around the South Island with no real idea of where we will end up each day. We are often drawn to an area that has the potential to give us a few geocaching smilies and somewhere we have not spent time exploring before. In some cases we are revisiting placed that we have been before but liked so much we are going there again.
We decided we would head to Cromwell to see an old friend, so now that we have done that and the weather has improved we decided to come to have a look around this area. Shame that there area not more notice boards explaining the history of the area.
The cache was a quick find, signed the log and returned it as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley a favourite from us

I made my way here on a whim seeing a few high favourited caches. I probably did need a 4wd up here due to some slippage after the heavy rains. Found the virtual and this trad, that's enough I think. The snows is down to 800m today and it's currently 5 degrees up here. Imagine living in one of these stone homes without heating! Brr.

Found with our 2 and 5 y.o. T4TC. Cache is no longer black and there's still some space in the log "book". So peaceful today.
Today we made a trip in and around Cromwell, thus visiting many sightseeing highlights. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was beautiful, sunny, very warm, no little bit cloudy, and only sometimes there was some wind.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had to drive their cars on the not too easy roads around here.
Thanks to Taylorm for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Ruined in Cental (Otago). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
The Cache itself is in a good condition.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Wandered over here from the Goldfield virtual. Thought I was going to have to play round and round the rugged rocks so I was pleased when I noticed a likely spot on my first circuit. Spoilt with the magnificent 360 views today. TFTC # 12,540
Had Ms Trout tracker clambering over rocks while our friend Wendy did the Krazy Kanuka Killer run. Good cache
Came down to Alexandra for a wee Easter family holiday. After a fantastic busy few days we're now heading for Fairlie to spend the night (via Bendigo) before home to Christchurch.
What cool history. Thanks. Loved it. Log is full but managed to initial in a gap. Great views around the area. Quite a few people up here enjoying the area. Cheers.

Amazing views. Steep ride up but worth the views. No more space on paper so it needs a new log book.
It was a beautiful day when we walked in this area. the reminders where interesting. Looking for a cache in a hilly area is different then on the flat. We came from the "wrong" side. It was a struggle but after al we found the little small box. Taylor thank you for your story and the cache. on the picture the 2 helpers and the small box.
Stopped here while on the way to Haast from Queenstown. Enjoyed looking over all the diggings. To bad all the mines were vertical shafts, and not horizontal tunnels, it would have been fun to explore the old works. There is still a lot left, even after all this time. TFTC
Found with VikingNav today while exploring the area. It was fun up here. Thanks for the fun cache! >^..^
Final find before lunch. A cooling breeze which is very welcome! Fantastic viewpoint. TFTC
Beautiful view -took us quite some looking. Container is not black unless we found the wrong one tftc
