Trio of huts - geoP found

Easter Sunday, and the dragons and bears clan are out for a drive and picnic. The weather is less than brilliant, visibility at times is about 100m, and on these roads that can be interesting. Had a look at the huts, then noticed this cache, so stopped for a search. GPSr didn't like the trees too much, but found the GZ without too much trouble, and grabbed the cache. The general concitions of the forest meant that a certain degree of wetness and mud did ensue. SL. Exchanged some small items of treasure and replaced the cache in its hideout.

In this part of the high country hunting a few seriously unloved caches and this was next. The roads into here are really good, anything could drive up them to get here in any weather (don't leave the main roads though, everything else seems to be tough 4wd tracks!!!!) Anyway, the huts that inspired this cache were spotted just sitting there unused. Parked just past them and wandered about the bush a little before finally putting my hand on the cache - perfect condition. Thanks to NELLYJR for this one

Tried to do this one on our way to Munji falls, but the Bush flies were as big as eagles and were trying to milk us of blood, and the mozzies were queued up beside them as soon as we stopped despite superstrong and lots of repellent. Did you know that bush flies will even try and bite you through your boots? We got a bit discouraged and left, but had another go on the way home. It was cooler and the flies were sluggish, making the find a bit easier and more comfortable. Nice to have sharp eyed members of the search party
Would have been a bit sad to go home without a find, so glad to get this one.

#248 Found at 10.55am. Beautiful bush area around this location - GeoPrincess took quite a bit of prompting to make the find "No - look in there again, try looking both ways" but she eventually got there. Logged our find in the sun and soaked in the tranquility of this spot.

Rhino and I continued our trek through the forest and found the old cabins in a state of disrepair. One looked like it gets regular use but the broken windows on the others would make it pretty cold at night in winter! The GPS was left charging while we jumped out for a quick find.

Again, great history and an enjoyable cache.

Thanks,

Found 15/11/08 16:23 Smile. Find #6 of 31 on my Over the Hills - an Earthcache Adventure trip with Team Rubik Cool

We were able to leave the GPSrs in the RhinoMobile and flex over to the rather obvious GZ for an easy find Smile. I don't know how comfortable the nearby accommodation would be but it looks like there might be some regular visitors
