Visiting the Adelaide region for a week from Port Macquarie. Today was a different kind of a day. The youngest Husky went off for a very long walk, meandering in and around the CBD area, targeting many caches and a lot of adventure lab checkpoints. Over 40,000 steps were walked in total, which worked out to be a smidge over 30kms. Meanwhile, the two elder Huskies opted for a more relaxing day to rest and recover, hanging close to base with a handful of finds in between some shopping and a cafe lunch. An incredibly productive and most importantly, fun caching day, which if including AL's in the total, made for our biggest day of finds ever. We are all thoroughly loving Adelaide.Fun puzzle to solve, took a little while to work through it, but some good looking coords came out of it in the end. Quick stop at the final. Thanks for the cache

Southern Autumn adventure Day 45. Mid North section of SA trip Day 16. Gawler Day 4. I have caught the Belair train into Adelaide since I grew up in Blackwood, today for the first time ever I caught the Gawler train into Adelaide. It was a longer journey, but worked just as well. The day was a lot wetter than I had expected, so I hid inside for a morning meal before starting my walk around the botanic gardens and some of the parklands east of the city. Several DNFs in amongst a great days caching.

As I headed back to the city to get on the train back home, I found myself passing one more. I was a little worried after so many fails today, but this one was found exactly where I had my solution tell me it would be,

Thanks for the cache nomad_penguin

Goldy is in town for an event on both days of the weekend this week.

A lot of caches still need to be cleared up around the area as well as some adventure labs so I'm taking the opportunity to find as much as I can.

Had solved this one a couple of weeks ago, but didn't know when I'd get around to finding it.

I'm not on this side of the city often, but thankfully today was in the area.

After making a few laps around the tree I found the caches hiding spot.

Cache retrieved and signed with stamp.

Tweezers, torches and other useful tools of the trade are always on hand for necessary cache retrieval.

As well as a first aid kit and gloves for when things get messy.

Thanks nomad_penguin for this cache.

This cache brings Goldy's total find count to 1136

Find 6 of 13 from two 9km walks, first around the NE of Adelaide with a target of cleaning up all the Ad Lab locations we had missed, then in the afternoon on a lovely hike at Bel Air.

Didn't uncover any possums, thankfully. Cache was found pretty quickly.

Had logged a DNF here nearly a year ago but subsequent finds showed that I just hadn't looked hard enough. Was in town this evening and thought it'd be a good time for a better look. Fences were up for gluttony, which may have explained the naked man I saw crossing Rundle road, but the path from the corner was open with a sign saying Park Open. Knew where to go and what to examine and this time cache was soon in hand and my stamp added to the log.

Thanks to nomad_penguin for placing this cache for me to find, this time

In planning for our SA trip to the Millicent Mega we solved lots of puzzles to add to our fun and this was one of them. Near GZ today there was really only one spot we thought the cache could be. After a bit of a feel around we had it in hand.

Thank you for the puzzle and cache.

Placed on my 46th birthday!

The puzzle didn’t give me any trouble, but I might not have found the cache if not for Ozmilo’s log. Yes, deep! I’d solved the puzzle a while back, but an event in the city made me delay the find.

Thanks Nomad Penguin.

A nice puzzle that was eventually solved.
At GZ I searched where I thought it would ..no joy. My phone was jumping around so I searched other nearby options ... still no joy. I went back to my initial place of interest. I dug the place out with a nearby stick ...still no joy. Just about ready to give up when I just stuck my hand right in and dug around some more. Found it. Man it was deep inside.

Logbook signed and cache replaced. I have made it slightly easier for the next finder.

Thanks for the cache The Penguins.

Was in town today to take advantage of easier parking and not so many muggles on the public holiday to find some more lab waypoints and managed to find some physical caches as well. This wasn't one of them. Gave the structure I had at GZ a good look over but no cache was found. Was running out of time so didn't examine any other structures, they were a good 15 meters away. Hasn't had a find for over a year so it might be missing. I'll be watching.
Thanks for the hunt nomad_penguin

Thank you Penguins for this cache. I had a good go at the puzzle but then resorted to a hint from a friend. Thanks for teaching me a new language. After applying the right technique I came up with some plausible coordinates. I then promptly forgot I had done it for a few months, until yesterday when I was desperately looking for a nearby cache to find and fill my daily square. Luckily I spotted this one and remembered I had it solved and waiting.

Thanks to the notes from a previous finder, the location was quickly found with a suitable device found nearby. I paid for 30 mins parking and needed 4. Cache in good nic, book has about 5 pages remaining, resident casino chips are a nice touch.

Found in the afternoon of a 42 degree day, and now have tree sap on one hand. All good, all in the name of caching, and my daily square is filled. Cheers, OZGrumpy

26-Nov-19
Another evening attempt with the Rat at a few of the caches that have eluded us, mainly due to far too many muggles or the lack of suitable places to park the geomobile in and around the city.

After a previous search, also under the cover of darkness proving fruitless we returned tonight after re checking our workings to find that we were correct the first time, It was just buried deeper into the cammo we read.

Of course it mas just that little bit (or a lot) easier to find this time around as it had been uncovered by a previous finder recently.

Solved this puzzle a while ago and not sure why I haven't found it yet.
I needed to escape the office today and this was a nice place to head to.
At GZ I sat down and pretended I was having my lunch. There was an obvious spot to look, however i wasnt keen on sticking my hand into a dark hole.
I found a handy tool lying around and used it as a poker.
At first I thought the cache might be missing but eventually a pen popped out! Haha, thats a clue!
Once I was sure there were no nasties, i bravely put my hand in and found a cache.
All in good condition, signed and returned to its safe spot.
Thanks for the excuse to get some fresh air today and the fun puzzle.

I solved this puzzle a long tome ago, it was the first cache for the day. The last finder had really hidden it so a lot of digging was involved to dislodge the cache. Soon had it in hand and stamped it. Replaced well but not to the same extent as found.

Today was a bit of journey, left home mid morning for a nice walk into the city collecting some caches that were in the parklands as well as some trads and multis that I was yet to find in the city streets and alley ways. An event followed to celebrate star wars day, a great turn out in force. Followed by another event up north to say good aye to barnic. Freddo and I soon depearted collecting some unfound caches along the way to the famous from the wine region for a CITO.
All the caches found today were in good condition, May the force be with you!
Thanks for the cache.

I always seem to have trouble doing these puzzles and reading these sorts of languages. However I persisted and managed to get some numbers that seemed reasonable.

Today, I went for a lunch run despite the heat that was around. This was one of my targets for a cache to continue my streak, and wasn't yet busy before the mad march festivities. Managed to find the cache whilst markings were happening around me, but didn't seem to alert any attention. Nice camouflaged spot indeed, and well hidden, thanks.

After a bit of squinting the puzzle was soon solved. An early morning walk enabled a quick retrieval at a deserted GZ. TFTC

11-Oct-18
After some hints on how to solve this last night at an event, I solved at home and found a new tool to use in future. Found myself in the area (again for the 3rd time this week) and needed to wait out some muggles hanging out 20 meters from the other cache. Determined to find it today thought I would pop over and check out this guy and eventually got the right spot. Lots of possibilities nearby but kept returning to where I started. Another lesson learnt for this “Mum”, now to work out how to get muggles to move on ...... thanks for the puzzle and the lesson

Was in the area today after work collecting another cache so thought I would try my luck with this one as well. Had solved the puzzle a while back but on my Monday wandering hadn’t made it to this side of town so tonight was the night. Found in the most suitable spot at GZ. TFTC and puzzle.

Having brought a patient to Adelaide air ambulance last night we had the day off today.
Of course, I got up early despite my body telling me to catch some more sleep...
I enjoyed a great early morning walk through Adelaide and found a few caches along the way.
I solved the puzzle on the flight but couldn't find the cache...
Not sure if the tree has been chopped down as the gardeners seem to have done some work. Took photos of several holes of some trees as I didn't wat to stick my hands inside straight away...
Thanks anyway says ***kinderarzt*** from Germany!

06-Nov-17
In preparation for a visit to Adelaide, I had looked around for a few caches that I might be able to pick up during our short stay, and this puzzle cache had been easy enough to solve. I guess it helped that I was somewhat familiar with the code, though there were some bits that I had to look at very carefully before they made sense.

I was really pleased that I could still get into Adelaide CBD before leaving town again after a conference over the weekend. We had been out in Glenelg and also visiting family in the area, and I was concerned that this one would have to stay in the solved-but-not-yet-found pile of caches.

Fortunately, my coffee appointment with my sister was in town and we made our way here before meeting up with her. At first it looked like there might be some restrictions on access to the area, but it turned out we could get to GZ without any problems. The compass pointed me directly towards the hiding spot, and on quick inspection I spotted a pen first, and then the container.

The log was soon signed and everything returned as found. I added a bit more natural camo to cover up everything so that nothing was obviously visible. Then on to coffee and snacks nearby.

This one has been sitting in my 'solved but not yet found' pile for a few years now, but I never seem to get the chance to visit the area. This was day 1 of our adventure and we made our way out of the City and headed towards the underwater themed geo art [^].

I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here Big Grin. I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area Smile. We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome Big Grin

A massive thanks here to nomad_penguin for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!

jinta29 found your cache Gobbledegeek today. This is my find #6529 and find #7 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again nomad_penguin for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

I solved this almost 2 years ago in preparation for a road trip visit here in 2015 but didn't manage to get here then, so there it say in the solved folder.... Having now relocated to Adelaide it's been on my to do list, but last time I ventured down here the area was a fringe venue... This time it's a construction site, but at least I could get to GZ. And it turned out to be a quick find for the quick solve.... Was just a long time coming! Thanks for both the puzzle and the find. Smiles all round.

Found it with TICE [Hiltsu, J&T, kapeka & laalaa]

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!

Greetings from Finland!

Team ICE on a two week geocaching trip in Australia. Our main target was the Red Centre Experience at Alice Springs but of course we did some caching in other places too. We drove from Adelaide to Alice Springs and then back. We saw lots of interesting and beutiful places like opal mines at Coober Pedy, Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta. Our rental travelled almost 6500km on gravel and tarmac roads. The weather was great, only on last day we got some rain.

All the caches logged as Team Ice, T-ice or Tice with kapeka, laalaa and Hiltsu. We had a great trip!

Today we headed from Adelaide to Murray Bridge. In the morning we found some caches from Adelaide area and then few monthly trails and some other caches on the way.

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland!

Veni. Vidi. Vici. Scripsi.
With the car in for some repairs because someone else liked my rear bumper more than me and cache for the day required this was the chosen cache for the day.
Opened this up a few times in the past and just closed it down in dismay as I just could not crack it. However, last week with these repairs pending I opened it up again and suddenly I could actually read the message. Miracles do happen and gobbledegeek was intelligible. Got the coordinates and whoohoo it was actually within 100m from the office. Wow.
This morning I hopped off the bus and made a slight detour to GZ and immediately put my hands on the cache, extracted log and signed it. replaced it in its clever little hide.

Being in the park for another cache this morning we skirted the new earthworks to arrive at GZ. The GPSr in the phone did not want to play so we fired up the real one and it showed us the right spot. This is one interesting puzzle. The hint was easy to read, but the puzzle itself was not. It took us quite some time to finally work out what the puzzle says. Funny thing is, once it's worked out, it becomes so apparent that I couldn't understand how it took me so long...

I've been to GZ several times, but GPS has not been steady. Also, it seems to point to a particular tree more often, and I have checked that tree a lot of times. I asked husband to help, since he found a nearby cache that I've been having no luck with. We came together today, and I started to check another tree. I checked that one before, but didn't do it thoroughly. This time, perseverance won! Also there's a suitable tool nearby. The hidden spot is amazing! Husband was wondering whether some lovely bunnies were living in there, maybe he read too many fairy tales.

Thanks for the cache, nomad penguin.

29/9/15 I solved this cache in Brisbane before coming down for a conference. It was a reasonably easy solve for me so I guess I really am a geek. Lol. Arrived this morning a little early to check in to my hotel so time for some caching and this one was first one my list. I arrived at GZ easily enough and the area was fairly clear of muggles. I began the search with no luck. I widen the area but ultimately came back to the first location. I rechecked my notes and googled the tree. Yep I am sure I am in the right spot. I took another stroll around the identified location and suddenly I glimpsed something that made me smile. It was where I first looked tucked away out of sight. Woohoo and TFTC and my first find in SA.

08-Aug-15
I worked out the code back home in Brisbane. After a few days in Adelaide my daughter was going a bit stir crazy with all the gallery exploring etc. so we decided to bring them to the park. I really wish I had googled what a certain tree looks like before we came, this would have been much easier. We found some casino chips in another tree that seemed more obvious (before I knew what the cache tree looks like) we left these in the cache for the next punter to find. Lots of fun TFTC.

As a 1337 h4x0r from way back I had no trouble decoding this one. Took me slightly longer at GZ and eventually used my camera rather than fingers to explore, due to spiderwebs etc. Ah-ha! There it is. Left a pathtag to complete the geekiness of this experience. TFTC!

It's just as well Owl can speak Gobbledegeek fluently, so the puzzle was no barrier to a bored bird on sick leave. Unfortunately that meant 157 caches to be found when she was up and about and that takes time! Today while her car was being serviced she looked for the cache. And looked. And looked and looked. Then back to the first location to feel. And feel. And there is was! Fortunately the muggles were few and far between!

Over here visiting a friend who unfortunately is laid up in the Royal Adelaide hospital and with not a lot of time for caching we decided to concentrate on earth caches as we always enjoy these and you don't have to worry about urban muggles.
This one was very close to our car park. As we had spent a lot of time trying to work this out it was also on our to do list.
We wee really happy when we found the cache nice and quickly, nothing like the time it took to get to this stage.
Thanks The Penguins for the cache.

We played around with the puzzle for a little while before the fog started to lift and sense was being made of the code. Armed with a set of coordinates, we heded off tonight to look for the cache. Being about 10:30pm, parking nearby was not a problems. A short walk to GZ and a quick hunt resulted in the cache being in hand. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for a challenging puzzle The Penguins and thanks for the cache.

When I knew I was coming over to Adelaide for a brief time for work I wanted to have a go at solving some of the many puzzle caches in the city. With a bit of re-training the eyes I worked out how to solve this one and so made my way to GZ in the small hours of the night. With my GPS bouncing around a lot and not much light this one took a bit of time to locate but eventually I managed to spot and retrieve the cache. Thanks nomad penguin for the puzzle and the cache. Dropped off Cassady the wolf trackable that came with me from Melbourne.

After attending Knightyme's One Year later event, The Kelly Gang, Laighside Legends, 3LG, RideTheGeoWalrus and myself went caching. We only did a couple before LL went his own way while 3LG and I continued to show The Kelly Gang some cool caches in the local area Cool
All up I got 5 smileys today and some of them were caches I have wanted to find for some time, so it was a great day! [^]

Many people say I speak Gobbledegeek all the time, so this had to be an appropriate cache on a day where I was tired and sore and speaking Gobbledegeek more frequently than usual! Wink
Solving this was easy enough as muggle partner speaks his own version of Gobbledegeek too.
Luckily it was also a quick easy find, despite the natural camo doing it's best to provide extra cover....which probably also saves this cache from being muggled more frequently in this busy location! [^]
GZ was like a patchwork quilt, with areas dug up very neatly and the turf removed......some places the turf had been replaced, too. All rather Gobbledegeek to me.

Went into the city for the Food festival and then a walk around town and find a few caches to top the day off. Solved a few puzzles earlier and this was a good one.
Thanks to nomad_penguin for this cache

Cute puzzle. Not difficult to solve. The first puzzle we found in Adelaide. GZ is also a very good place to relax! Thanks for bringing us here.

I thoroughly recommend trying these before 7am as we did today, as the parking spots are still almost completely free and it's easy to get access. There was one car of suspicious looking muggles parked very close, and we wondered if they might also be geocachers or geeks (like me - hence being able to solve the thing!), but they disappeared before we reached GZ. Once there, it wasn't too long before we had the hide in hand and names in logbooks.

Gotcha!

It's amazing what the human mind is able to interpret, given the right circumstances.

Thanks nomad_penguin

Solved some time ago, but we never found ourselves in this area with a bit of spare time to do some caching. Finally the holiday period has allowed us to catch up on some puzzle caches and this one was in the "solved notebook' although we can't remember how we solved it. There were a couple "getting to know each other better" in the vicinity of the hide, but as they were otherwise occupied, the find was made with little difficulty and returned, adding a bit of natural camo. Thanks nomad penguin!
