Looks like this one is no longer available to find. Thanks to all those that visited. I hope you enjoyed exploring the area as much as we did.
After a awesome drive into Goldrush with Tforce5, the short drive to Goldrush II was very welcomed....
However, we were in for a shock, because my Gps was showing 17meters to GZ, but both the mine entrance's looked like they had been recently sealed up with metal grates!!
Not sure if we were at the right entrance...but looked like the picts in the log....
Unless someone else can confirm that we were at the wrong entrance's, this cache maybe dead..
However, thanks for the experiance that this wonderful location showed us...

Taken me a long time to getting around to doing these two Gold Rush caches. Did Gold Rush first and drove right up to so continued down the track and got to within about 160 metres so decided to hoof it there. Found the mine easily and had remembered my torch. mine not too wet, got to the ore dump and backtracked a bit and found the cache easily. Not supprisingly the log book is damp but OK. TNLN. Thanks for bringing me here Big Matt & Shell
I found the mine didn't go in to the mine to get GZ. It took a while to get there ( about 2 hours on the bikes of broulee )
I had Gold Rush caching fever this morning
After a short cross country dash to the nearby Gold Rush cache, I continued my cross country meanderings.
I read the cache notes along the way.
"A torch ?!!" Oooops !! I had two in the geomobile, maybe the light of the phone display will be enough [:o)]
Nup!! Even after 10 minutes of waiting for the eyes to adjust there just wasn't enough light.
So I bushbashed the 700 metres or so back to the geomobile.
Right'o !! I know where the road to this mine is now, let's go
I decided to stop 500 metres from the mine after some fun and games along the 4WD tracks and resort to legwork again.
At least there was a trail to follow this time
Back at the mine with my proper torch to guide me I enjoyed the spookiness that comes with a long dark, dripping wet tunnel hacked out of rock decades ago and wondering if today was the day the rotten wooden supports would finally give up and drop rocks on my head [:o]
But there was a cache to find and that is always worth the risk.
Got more chance of winning lotto than getting caught in a cave in I reckons
In the eerie glow of the torch, hmmm, batteries must need replacing soon
I splashed along between the tracks.
This tunnels bigger than it looks.
No need to stoop and some of the side galleries were quite large too
I got to the ore dump and poked around.
The original wooden wedges are still in place on top of the roof supports if you look up
If you look down the base of the original roof supports are rotting away.
Don't look down [:o]
I back tracked a few metres and soon found the caches hiding place.
It's been a while since I've signed a logbook in a subterranean setting.
All subterranean caches are great fun [^]

This would have to be one of the most interesting/ enjoyable caches we've ever done. We had been here before but never ventured in. Didn't realise how big it was inside. Quite amazing. Saw a little bat hanging in a small hole too. Eba waited outside in case of any dramas but after a bit of too and froing the cache was in hand. The ore dump is quite big as well. Thanks for a great experience.
5 x Geo kids, 2 x Geoparents. Great spot. Bush-bashed down hill for 250 meters until we found easy alternative but had to walk back up hill to get vehicles.

Ahoy Big Matt & Shell!!
What a great cool spot. On one of the hottest days of the year it was refreshing to hide in the tunnel. Loved the history and what our pioneers were able to do.
Thanks.

We were looking on the wrong side of the mine for a good 10mins before i spotted a a nice hiding spot for the cache.
Bingo found it. It would have been nice to spend a bit of time exploring the mine but we were out of time, we will check it out better next time we fell like mining.

Hiked in. Bush bashed it from Gold Rush. 3/4 of us scored bonus leech points! Really interesting place. A great afternoon adventure. TFTC. Took butterfly, left an elephant.
Awesome cache Big Matt and Shell, just Awesome! A hidden gem you just wouldn't find otherwise, just oozing history. I really enjoyed just wandering around checking out all the rusting machinery and marvelling at the tenacity, ingenuity and drive of our early Australians. And then there was GZ!
The only drama was that I discovered that my waterproof hiking boots are no longer waterproof. I disturbed a few microbats on the way in, but nothing else was about. The cache was found about where I expected it, and is in good condition. I wished I had more time to explore, and that I wasn't solo - no one to rescue me! It would make a great campsite to get away from it all - a thought for the future. Thanks for taking the time to locate a cache here.

FANTASTIC!!!!
Geofamily enjoyed exploring the mine and all the bits and pieces. Although we did not venture much past 40m into the cave as we did not have a safety plan ie. someone on the outside just incase. We will be back for future exploration.
Where does that lower track come in from? We bush bashed straight from Gold Rush.
Thanks for the fun and interesting trip.

Went straight from Gold Rush to Gold Rush 2, And I mean straight as the bird flies, over the rocky terrain. Great hide, never knew
it was there. TFTF. SL. Took Australian fridge magnet, left butterfly.

Drove as close as I could but a tree blocked our path and the axe was in the camper back at Batemans Bay. Turns out, could have driven all the way on a lower track. All good, nice easy walk.
What a lot of hidden history left to rust here. Took plenty of photos before heading to the mine.
Hmmm, better go check this out first (Gotta give myself at least a fighting chance of finding a cache these holidays ya know)
In I went, wow, this place is in damn good condition, not like some of our Blue Mountains coal mines. Eventually found the cache, took heaps of photos and continued in further. More to explore, kept on going till I got to the small cave-in. It was here that I encountered the bats and I don't recommend going past the cave-in.
Plus, the air in that part was not the greatest.
An awesome spot to come to and is not to be missed on a South Coast trip.
Used Ozi and moving map to find a quicker way out, bent the antenna on a tree, well, so I am told, I just figured it was tired and need a break.
Loved the location, but then, these sort of places do tend to attract me I guess. Daylight anyone??
Cheers

I'm sure there was an easyier way to get to this one, trekked through the bush for abit, Found the entrance and was great to have alook inside, just got to make sure torch is not left on in your pocket for ages lol, luckily was enough to just light in front of me, found it without really looking, but had to hurry as muggles were in there as well looking for other treasure, put it away and run out quickly before they asked too many questions, recommend water proof boots, you will probably get ya feet wet otherwise
An interesting little track down to here, the gate was open so that was easy. And while there are painted notices at the bottom saying under surveillance (misspelt on the tree) the monitoring equipment mentioned in previous logs seems to have gone as no sign of it. No bats spotted either but I didn't venture further than I needed to.
Once inside (glad I had the torch, wouldn't have fancied it with a cigarette lighter) found fairly quickly. TNLNSL, thanks Big Matt & Shell.
Sometime on the way here did some damage to inner front left guard of the Suzuki (stupid plastic clips they use to hold it together) and it rubbed at full lock, so had to retreat slowly to Moruya to find a hardware store with some fencing wire to tie it all back in place for the rest of the day's adventures.

At first we were a bit hesitant to attempt this one due to the makeshift gate at the entrance and all the monitoring gear around. But we figured it was public land and while they had every right to put the equipment there, we also had every right to enter the tunnel (without distrupting their equipment of course). Being night as well we thought that all the little bats would be out and about and we wouldn't be annoying them too much. Cache was found really easily and quicker than we expected. A great area.
Found April 2008, but for some reason forgot to log. Also found Gold Rush on same day.
Deep, dark and wet, one of our favorite caches, geokids still use as example of where caching takes you. TFTC.

A quick find today with vainui.
Agree on the previous log that best is may to disable the cache until the study is done, although no bats were detected.

We were not too sure how to log this one as it isn't really a did not find but more like a did not attempt. Like a previous visitor we found our way to the given co-ords without any drama's but then we came across the monitoring equipment at the mine entrance. After we read the notices about the bat study going on and all the associated monitoring equipment we decided we better not proceed any further. This was a little disappointing, but what a great area to explore anyhow.
Thanks for showing this spot to us.
Perhaps this cache needs to be disabled until the study is finished, just a thought.

Found: 10:36am.
Bush bashed 420 metres from the wrong hill off Misons Rd to this one. The mine road is neither on google maps, google earth or DiscoverAus/Mapsend GPS maps. I had tracking on to help find our way back to the 4WD, but we decided to follow the road out to see how we should have come in. It all makes sense now I can see our route on the map. It would have taken around 5 minutes to drive to it from Gold Rush I, but to be honest, we had more fun our way, despite the 2.5 Km total trip taking 1 hour 20 mins to walk. Found some nice spots along the creek in our travels that we would have missed otherwise.
Someone is doing studies of bats here. Seems to be sensors set up to record the numbers entering and exiting. I hope they take into account 2 bodies and an excited Jack Russell.
All up, spent around 3 hours in Mogo State Forest to pick up both the Gold Rush caches. Bimbimbie Rd to Misons Rd was a nifty 4WDing experience. A few trees down, and too big to drive over, but we managed to make our own tracks around with the bull bar and 175 Kw of grunt
This would be a great camp site. The icy cold air being sucked out of the mine would mean you could have your very own bush aircon in the summer. Sweet!
Took: Bat (the plastic type)

Love this one as we have mining in our blood took the hard way in but the easy way out thats the fun in caching a great location could have stayed he all day took some dirt to run through the gold pan later TNSL TFTC matt & shell a big [^]
Another cache where I knew little about, I had the coords and had looked at the pic while I was back in Moruya but that was it. With no torch and only the light of the GPS I slowly made my way inside. Eventually as fear took over I was just about to give up when presto. This cache certainly reminds me of one up the Blue Mts. Thanks guys for showing me this top spot.
This was a bit of a bummer after not finding Gold Rush but no luck here either. Drove to a GZ with the co-ords but after a brief look around couldn't find the start and after some time spent at Gold Rush decided to move on. Great spot nonetheless.
Dropped in here to show the area to the in-laws and checked the cache while we were here. All is OK!
Dropped in here today during a short (60km) bike ride through the area. Due to recent logging activity the roads near the cache are fairly chewed up. A 2WD would not be the ideal way to reach this cache at present and as such I have increased the Terrain Rating. The cache is fine!
After a cross bush arrival above the mine, I saw where I should have come in from. The experience here was fantastic. After opening my eyes and finding the cache I ventured in till a fork in the tunnel, far enough for me today.

Had a very pleasant afternoon with the wife & kids & dog, found this cache as well as All Creatures Great & Small, Mozzie Point and Moruya Quarry.
Take some good walking shoes that can get wet and a torch or three. I would not try it in a 2WD. Go by 4WD, trail bike, horseback or on foot if you are really keen. An interesting spot that I would like to know more about.
Took Mighty Monkey TB, left a poker chip, signed the log.

Found this one with Team Maxi, glad I'm not scared of the dark (or bats), great to see places like this are still out there to explore and not closed off like so many other areas where the politicians think they know what's best for me! No swaps made, thanks
This was a lovely spot enjoyed comming geo kiddies enjoyed it as well realised how hard they must of done it in the olden days thanks
What a cool place... literally! Parked the Cruiser within about 5 metres of the above coords and when I first set out I was thinking I might be in for a swim to GZ but thankfully the worst was soon over and the rest was fairly easy going, my only question is "Where's the damn light switch?"
Left the Mighty Monkey TB (don't know if he will like it down here so hopefully someone will retrieve him again soon?) and only took the instructions for the FTF Geocoin which the Handles6 seem to have left behind??
Thanks Matt & Shell for bringing me here... who said sequels are never as good as the originals!

SAw the new cache and with the FTF coin in it, missed out last time to the goat. Decided to head out and grab it. Amazing spot, much bigger than GR1. Thank Big Matt for showing me this place. I will be back with the eldest geo-son to have a better look around.
