No luck for me here either. I hadn't planned to look for this one today so hadn't seen the photos (not sure if it would have helped me anyway) and I didn't spot the old sign that Mrs SeaBreeze found. I wonder if it's still there somewhere?
Reading the cache and the logs I have a reasonable idea of what I am looking for but alas could not make the find. I did find the stump of the old sign though - that was easy, exactly where I expected it to be. But the cache? Nothing. Of course, given that is no longer hidden according to the cache description could be a problem. I'll put a watch on this...
No joy here. Spent a long time foraging around too. Time to move on I’m afraid. I did find a little bit of a sign though! Could this one get checked please?
We have looked for this cache several times but always have been defeated. Today with a couple of friends, the four of us spent nearly 20 minutes without success. We feel its still there but we are just not thinking correctly. TFTC
This one caused me the most grief of the 12 today.. I knew I was close and sat down to read past logs for inspiration - I could have touched it right then! I tried to find the old sign broken at ground level but no luck so did some more slow loops around on the lookout for some gross container or piece of rubbish to investigate. Not sure what the original camouflage was but I think it's long gone, was just in a bag tucked away well. Container and log were damp, tried to dry out a bit while I considered my next foray along the track. The wet will keep getting in I think, it's not very well protected. Happy to have a tick here though, thanks for keeping me going further along on the way to the Welly Climbs set on a lovely day!
My boy found it and didn't want to touch it, after fruitless searching I read some comments and we went back to it and sure enough, found! little wet inside.
found it on a long two days hike over the ridges. needed about 20 minutes to find... TFTC!

I had much more time available than when I was last here and, as always seems to be the case in that situation, I found the cache quite quickly. I think I got an inkling of what I was looking for some somewhere (the logs maybe) because when I saw the cache I knew that was it. The coords take most of the credit though as they seemed pretty much bang on for me today. TFTC.
#5412. I headed up the Te Whiti Riser and then walked along the Pylon track to get here. Been up the firebreak previously but never up the benched track. What an awesome track. Glad to see our rates being used to give us another superb path for hiding geocaches on. Bit of a steep final grunt on the Pylon Track to get up to this area. My one previous attempt for this cache was a short scramble for 10 minutes before I had to flag it away as I was heading well to the north. Today I had more time to look. I also thought more carefully about where the sign might have been placed and checked through previous logs to glean hints. It was raining lightly which didn't help the search. The cache was closer to the main track than where I searched on my last visit. The coordinates are good (within 5m). The cache is not visible from a distance. In fact I walked past it three times before checking something. Soon as I saw it however I knew what it would be as I sort of guessed the general nature of the hide from log comments. The logbook was unfortunately quite damp. I photographed it and then replaced it with a new waterproof log and sealed it in a fresh plastic bag. Very pleased to have this one ticked off. Thanks for the cache J'N'K . Note that Luco235 log record is a fake.
I didn't really have the time to do a long search on a clever hide so I spent about 5 minutes exploring and pondering before deciding to move on.
The old broken sign may be missing, but the coords and hint text still made this a nice quick find. All good with the cache.
The kind of cache that when your gf texts to be picked up, you're 'stuck in traffic'. Took a while and pleased I found it Couldn't see remains of sign, just followed coords and instinct. Thanks J 'N' K!
This was one of my high priority caches not so long ago, because it had a D/T rating I hadn't found yet. Unfortunately that is no longer the case, but it was still a good one to tick off anyway. GPSr was ticking good readings today, and it was a quick find. TFTC!
#2638 Another stunning day so I decided to return to the hills to collect the caches we didn't get to yesterday. Piled on the sunblock and headed off from the lookout carpark- this cache was my final frontier, the final unfound until way down the ridge, the last cache for the day, the turning point for my journey. Didn't find the broken sign and the GPS wasn't helping at all. Did find a couple of pairs of discarded underwear on the other side of the track when I was looking for a sign though. Reread the description and shortly after had the cache in hand. Not the devious camo I had in my mind but a find nevertheless. Glad to have found this one given its D/T rating. TFTC!
Looks like Luco235 has a very big imagination as their name was no where to be seen on the logsheet. A couch cacher it seems.
At World’s End – New Zealand – One of our dream become true.
Our plan was to stay 4 weeks in New Zealand. But this wasn’t this easy to manage at work. So we moved spontanic the plan from march to november. We informed us before about point of interessts. The list was this long so we decided to go by campervan from the north to the south to have the most mobility. We arrived after way to much hours in Auckland and started there our round trip. At first we enjoyed the area in auckland and the north. In Waitomo we were able to see and enjoy glohworms in one of the famous caves. But this area had a lot of nice hiking trails were we could discovered the Piripiri Caves, Natural Bridge and the Marokopa Falls. This was already impressive to see and still the beginning of our adventure for life. The trip went on over Okere Falls Scenic Reserve direction Rotorua. In this area we enjoyed each hour, because each corner was different. We visited the Haumurana Springs – what amazing water -, Blue Lake and Green Lake and relaxed in Kerosene Creek. We liked all the water and in our travel guide we found a hike cloth to the Huka Falls, which ofcourse we did as well. All this flowers were bloom. One oft the Highlights was Wai-O-Tapu. The weather was perfect and all this colors awesome and the geysir a nice shower. By Campercan the to tour went on direction Tongariro Alpine with a short stop at Orakei Korako and the Tongariro River Loop Track. Lu like nice hiking tours and what could be the best for her birthday? Of course the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. We started early in the morning and walked approximately 9 hours over gras, stones, snow and colorful water. Now we had to leave the Heart of North New Zealand and went over Taranaki Falls to the East Coast with the goal Napier. The weather was cloudy and often raining but a small sightseeing was a must have. The last stop on the North Irland was Wellington. But it was only raining and some streets were already flooded. That’s why we change spontanic our plan and only did the First Cache of New Zealand and went by ship over the Marlboro Sound to Picton. We went over Farewell Spit to the lonely Wharariki Beach with sea lions. On the way back to the big streets we stopped at Waikoropupu Spring and Janie Sesson Shipwreck and drove untypical to Karamea. In Germany we do not have this much and public caves and that’s way we enjoyed this area! Cloth to the West Coast we took a look at the Pancake Rocks. The weather was just raining and so we could not see the Franz Josef and Fox Glacier, but we still visited them. We leaved the bad weather in the hills and enjoyed the Sun at Ship Creek, Thunder Creek, Fantail Falls and the Blue Pools. Wow they were relly blue and this clean and deep. I never saw something similar before. About Wanaka we read a lot in our travel guide and looked forward to it. There arrived we visited the Puzzling World and walked around the sea. Queenstown the next town we drove just through because at this time there was a marathon and it was really campervan unfriendly. So we used the time and drove to Milford Sound and enjoyed the hills surround us on the water. I never felt this small. After we are landed again on land the trip goes on to the Chasm and Clifden Caves and the Clifden Suspension Bridge. Wow what an adventure. At the end we visited a few cities like Bluff, Duneding, Moeraki Boulders and Christchurch were our Trip sadly ends.
At all this places we looked for nice and unique caches which shows us places which we never would had seen without. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife each day and it was really an adventure for life. At the end we drove approximately 5000 kilometeres and felt this relaxed.
Thanks to all owners for placing this caches and this much informations which we got about the particular areas. This was an adventure for life for us. Thanks for this beauty time.

Cripes - two of us spent about 20 minutes but turned out we didn't go deep enough and finally found it while on the verge of giving up. Given what the "camo" was we almost didn't want to touch it at first but were getting desperate so girded our loins and there it was !
Gets a favourite for the "camo" used.

Not really a DNF, just didn't spend enough time looking. Have a long way to go today heading north along the ridge. But a 4/3.5 cache is always worth checking out. I was hoping to find the disused sign but didn't spot it. Far to many places to search in just 10 mins today so will be back when I have a lot more time available.
Hi, TFTC! Got into caching whilst visiting friends in NZ, coming from Norway, and has been great so far
We searched twice for this one - once each way.
It was becoming quite obvious something wasn´t quite right, and then some 2metres into the tree cover I found the remains of battered paper log (and nothing else). It looks like its been exposed for some time but lucikly a lot of the entries are still readable.
I decided the best action was to bring it home with me to avoid it getting completely destroyed (I didnt have any replacement boxes or bags with me). I can confirm this is the log for this cache as all the dates of previous finders match up with what is recorded on the site.
I suggest a completely new replacement cache is needed here, as it´s almost certainly been muggled.
J ´N´K - drop me a message if you want to get the old log returned - it goes back for quite some years so would be a shame to lose!
I´m going to go ahead and log this as found if that´s OK.

Please see my comments in the maintenance log - I found the (almost) destroyed log exposed with no sign of the actual cache. Marking it as found as we were obviously in the right place. I have the old log with me and happy to return to CO if requested.
Cache will be there - just my carelessness in that when I replaced the log I put the old pulp one on the ground and forgot to pick it up when I left.
A lovely walk along the Wainui hills today with tmann421.
Found after quite a bit of searching around in the bush. I was in completely the wrong area when tmann yelled 'found it'. Don't think I would have found this one without him. Log pulp and tmann replaced.

Good find while in the area with Just-Lookin today.
Took quite a bit of searching to get the container found.
No sign - of the sign!
Log soaked and just pulp so I cleaned out the container and added a new log and plastic bag.

I had quite a bit of trouble finding this one. I didn't even spot the broken sign for a while. The cache was well hidden but I spotted something that looked slightly out of place and found the wee thing. As others have mentioned - the log is far too sodden to be able to be signed so I've attached a photo as proof of my find. TFTC
My eagled eyed wife scouted it. NE of sign and 9m out. Cache very wet and in need of new container.
Log is soaked, very difficult to get any record of my visit but I did my best, TFTC
Heading up toward the towers and picked this one off on passing. Straight forward for me today despite the cammo. The log was too wet to write on as its tucked into a film canister. I tore a strip off my shopping list and wrote on that. TFTC!
Not quite where the hint said. Same side as the broken sign. Traipsed around in the bush for a while and was not going to give up on this one due to the location at the top of the hill. TFTC
Lots of head scratching for this one. More careful reading helped us eventually. I wouldn't class this as being in plain view though. The log is very wet and nearly impossible to write on.
This one took a while of searching especially since we weren't sure if the sign was always where it was or not. But spotted eventually! Log was too damp, my pen wouldn't work on it so wrote our log on a voucher and left it in the cache.
#1318 Found after a lot of head scratching re the hint. NE put me in entirely the wrong and rather prickly place. Stay on the logical side of the track! TFTC
Nice - nearly missed it. A little damp inside but log itself dry inside wrapped plastic but well worn. Dried plastic and inside of container and replaced as found.

With DjaliDjinn. Fossicked around for ages and on the verge of conceding a DNF, DjaliDjinn spotted a likely spot which was in fact spot on.. A clever hide...
I had to log a DNF in September and thought today would be the same but, after a square of chocolate and just as I was about to give up, I stumbled upon the cache! Very nicely done indeed. Not quite what I'd been expecting, but close enough tftc!
good hide thanks very much my spidey senses on high alert today. has been quite damaged looks broken now may need some tlc but is quite safe. is wet its sitting in the sun while I log this so you're getting a story nice in the shade except for these dam flies.

We took a while to find it. The log is sodden so we did our best to sign. TFTC
Nearly beat us but well spotted by sarahjane20. Log is wet and maybe the next visitor could replace? We didn't have anything with us. Another great cache. Tftc
Took awhile but got there in the end, have done one like this before so after resorting to reading some previous logs we guessed what we were looking for, we just need to find the right spot, TFTC

Very nice. The hint led me straight to the right area and I had a good look around. On any other day I may have had trouble with this one, but for some reason Caching Karma must have been smiling on me, as I found it no problem. TFTC!
The reason for today's foray was to try and reclaim this lonely cache. Found the remains of the hint object quickly, then looked around for where it could be, and explored. After a very quick look, I spotted something, and was shortly rewarded with the Logbook. Now for a quick dash back to the car as I needed to Collect Melon after school (made it in time, phew!) A perfect day to be up here, and thanks for a now no longer lonely cache. It's worth the trek folks!
#723 Walking the hills with Scouts. Took a while of looking, till checked the logs again and realised it was from JnK, then quickly spotted. TFTC
Took a few minutes searching, found by metal-art the exact time I yelled out my suspicions on the camouflage. Nicely done.
Initially a bit stumped with this one, but paced out the required distance in the correct direction from the sign. Probably spent 15 minutes here - I wasn't going to leave after climbing this hill without finding it so made sure nothing was left unturned! Love the cammo on this one.
I can understand why some people may miss it, but keep searching and you will be able to log it

It has been established that the logbook that Grahame Cookie found was NOT the logbook for this cache.
The semi-unique D/T combination was the main reason for heading up the hill. While I had been aiming to get Worth the Effort I didn't find that track until on the way down. Had a look for over an hour, and did find a log book (of sorts) which was wet beyond being able to open and check it out, but that was all. I left a large post where I found that, and left the logbook in a ziploc bag at Worth the Effort, not sure where else to leave it. Please check, and maintain if necessary
Back up on the hill today carrying out some cache maintenance and continued along to Summit Different. Success this time after a DNF some time ago. Please note that the sign and post referred to in the hint has broken off near ground level. TFTC
A bit tricky, had us stumped for a while but was able to figure it out. TFTC

This really was a hit and miss find. Got to the site, then went the required distance. Only found the cache because it was upside down and obvious, otherwise don't think we would have found it. Maybe a standard container would be better out here. TFTC
Hopefully the summit that is different about this cache is really special, otherwise my standard winge about inappropriate cache sizes applies - out here in the bush it should at least be a two litre container. However the summit was different enough that I could not find it, despite searching for over half an hour. I guess this is another cache I have to come back to.
Very nicely done. It was gale force winds up here today, and there was lots of loose stuff lieing around. Thought I would never find it in all that mess, but 5 minutes in to scrambling through it all I saw it. TFTC
Quick find, after coming down the steep firebreak from "Worth the Effort" (where i hadn't been able to search for the cache due to numerous muggles). Spotted the likely hide very quickly ... nicely done.

We carried on down the fire break after finding Worth the Effort. It was pretty steep, so we took it slowly and carefully and made it to GZ without mishap.
A quick find as StreetWalker had already found the cache last month. Great hide.
There is only one thing worse than walking down a steep fire break, and that's walking back up it again, so we carried on down until we reached the intersection with the pylon track then walked back to the car via this route. Still some uphill to negotiate, but a much more gentle gradient than the evil firebreak and good shade as well on a warm afternoon.

#4443. Felt like I needed a decent walk today. Parked near Te Whiti Park, and then walked some streets to get to Summit Rd (an appropriate access point for this cache). Headed up that track, then along the ridge to the cache, and then down from the cache. Nicely hidden; took a couple of inspections to spot the cache. Ramble #4 for Rambler's Reward Challenge.

This one took me 3 attempts. Today it just took 1 min. Great hide. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Highest point on my walk today. Unfortunately couldnt find it. Searched a bit around but was to cold and rainy to stay to long. Maybe next time. Sherlock Hood.
Cache #414 - Very nice hide. #5 on the night with Downunder Wanderer. Was a bit trepid on this one after the previous DNF on what should have been an easy cache, so very relieved to find this one. Took a bit of searching but easy to track down once we saw the previous log. NNE is much nicer. TNLNSL. TFTC!
#1,045: Really Summit Different!
I walked to this one after being thwarted by "Worth the Effort" (and before being thwarted by "On the Way"). Just a beautiful Sunday to be out about about doing some caches! Quite the walk along this ridge, and lots of walkers and bikers around. This was one of the three caches I was hunting for to help fill in empty cells in my D/T grid, so I was very happy to be able to log it! Very nice camo, and easily missed within its surroundings. Great idea to put a series up here like this too, as it makes the hike even more worthwhile.

We looked out towards the GZ after just finishing "Worth the effort" and it was only 270m or so away (quite close eh) but the path dropped so steeply down...and we were tired and hot, and we'd have to walk back up... So we pondered and pondered, and finally realised that it might be awhile before we were back here so dig deep...off we go... Once we got there this one had us searching hard- twice!- We then followed the hint which had us a little off (for us NNE would have been closer), but finally we got it! V Good hide. The walk back wasn't so bad after all. Thanks for the fun cache.
#2790
Walked up the track from Whites Line East after a night of rain which made the path muddy and slippery. Well worth the views from the top. The cache was right where the GPS pointed but well camoflagued. This gives me a new D/T combination that I was hunting for. TFTC ds8300

Stopped off while MTBiking around the hills. Initial man look didn't turn up anything but upon deeper consideration of the description and having seen J 'N' K devious work before - then really looking, I was smiling with the cache in hand.

I came up for the "Harbour View" but decided that as it was such a nice morning that I would "Pile On" some exercise and do a few more of the caches in the area. That it was "Worth the Effort" soon became apparent, then after a quick stop off to try "Summit Different" ...

Took a bit of hunting, huhugrub who had found it before (when the cache was a different container) spoted it before us.
K went on a maintenance run this afternoon and as she hadn't been up here for quite some time it took a while to find. However found eventually once she went up onto the firebreak and let the gps settle down, the hint is helpful too.
Found while on an mtb mission along the ridge from the Wainui Hill end. I may have made a tactical error by doing this on my way South back to the Wainui Hill from Aerial View II. There were a couple of insane climbs I had to push the bike up. Mind you, according the biker I met coming down one of these climbs as I was going up, it wasn't much better in the other direction! Still, a little challenge is all in a day's caching. Had to search a little for this one, before I switched into the urban illusion (or should that be rural illusion?) mode. A nice hide, and glad to nab it on my first attempt.

Found during a great day's caching in the wonderful Wellington weather! Yes, truly wonderful. This one had us scratching our heads for a bit. Presistence paid off though, as usual.

I had a fairly good look for this cache six months ago. I later read the looks and decided I would need to return with a more open mind. This evening, I found the prize immediately. I am very pleased to be able to record this one as found. Thanks for another enjoyable cache, J 'N' K.
It was a bit drizzly today and wet under foot so needed to take extra care around areas freshly up graded. GPS had taken us to the spot, Looked around for a while and then there was joy. Unexpected hide
Yippee!
After failing to find it last time I gave it a re-think and realised I'd made one mistake. When talking to the cache owner last weekend I was comfortable that it was there and was waiting for a chance to get back up here. Woke up early to a still cool morning and decided to wander up - this time I took the route up from Whites Line. Certainly a slog up but the beautiful bush made it ever more worthwhile.
Struggled a bit at GZ as it was still quite dark in the bush at 7.50am and my glasses were fogging up as well to make things even worse! But a well earned rest, a hard think about where to look and a search resulted in a quick find.
Nice to have this one smiling back at me, these are the sort of caches I enjoy. (Sorry to have made you come up to do a recent check as well)

Walked up to cache tonight. Cache is safe and sound. Have upgraded the Diff rating and revised cache type to unknown. There is a clue to the type of cache in the title.
Failed to find this one despite an extensive search although I could have been looking in the wrong area duing to patchy GPS reception. Carried on up and completed 'On the Way' and was going to have another look on my return but ended up taking a different track, so didn't get a second chance to have a look at it. Otherwise I would've used the PAF option. Never mind, it was still a good trip with two finds and a walk in an area I'd never been to before. Will keep on my watchlist and perhaps come up from the Whites Line track next time - looks like that would have been a nice walk.
Looked around for a while at this spot but didn't find it (it's certainly not visible from a distance). I see the last find is last November - has it been muggled?
Tried this cache when it was in it original form, BUT no luck so had to come back once I knew it was published, cool hide, but found quickly, TFTC TNLNSL (1120)

Good to go again, looks as if the old object fell victim to some clearing activity in the area. Have replaced with a brand new one in a slightly different location.
Slogged up the firebreak from Te Atiawa Explorer.
Great views, but couldn't find the cache.
Couldn't find the hint object either.
Thanks.

Bit disappointing that we couldn't turn this up. Looked straight forward although wondering if others have had issues? The area was well trampled. Will try again another day.
#528. Continued on up Rewarewa Track after finding Cubbies Rest, then up Te Whiti fire break. Boy, that was steep. Right to the Konini fire break, and then down Konini Saddle Track. Came across quite a few runners. Great exercise, and excellent views. TNLNSL. TFTC.
