Stopped by on a trip out to Raglan today. It was a tad bit muddy at the entrance and we realised we had some company as there were a bunch of little eyes watching us though they didn't seem to be too concerned with us. Enjoyed the walk to the cache will have to come back and continue it one day but today's all planned out TFTC
A quick stop on the way to Raglan. Undeterred by the rats hanging around the edge of the bush, we wandered the short distance up to the cache. This would be a nice walk to explore further at another time when it's not so muddy. Log book quite damp but still intact and able to be written on. TFTC
Yesterday we wanted Daddypig to pull in here so we could have a picnic on our way to Raglan, but he missed it! Today we've been back to Hamilton for spot of food shopping and now we are heading back to Raglan for lunch, and this time we made him stop. Headed up the track with GeohoundandI, and the gps was jumping around a bit, so we ended up further along than we needed. But we spotted something that vaguely matched the hint so she went in for a look. And then it started to rain again. Big mistake wearing a pale grey top, because apparently it was getting rather see through. But at least we weren't dying of dehydration and sun stroke!Reread the description and came back down the track. Straight away spotted GZ and we had the cache in hand.We will be back for a proper walk along the track before we go back to Auckland.
Started looking in the wrong place when it began raining so started heading towards the car when we saw where it was actually hidden. TFTC
On our way to Raglan for the weekend. Nice little walk to grab the cache. Wet log.
On the way over to Raglan so stopped to grab this cache. Log wet unfortunately. Tftc
Nice little walk on the way home from Raglan after celebrating our first wedding anniversary. Unfortunately the log is wet so we couldn’t sign TFTC
Easy find when I looked from the other direction and saw the curve. Looking forward to doing this hike soon. Everything quite damp but we had no replacement sorry.. Tftc
Last cache of the day and find #998 overall. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to explore much more of this track since time was a bit limited, but what I did see made me want to come back someday and see where it goes. Climbed up the stairs and made my way to GZ where I spotted a likely place for the cache, and there it was. A little bit wet inside but I was able to sign the log OK. Cicadas were very loud around here today, and I could only barely hear the cars going past - it was beautiful up here. Without the cache I would never have come up here, so giving a FP because I'm very glad it brought me here. TFTC!!
Nice walk into the bush. Only saw one chicken but could hear roosters hiding somewhere.
Heading to Raglan with Nette1234 and Supernannny. We stopped here to stretch our legs and Nette was on to the hide pretty quick
So pleased to get the chance to return here...a quick find made by nette...no idea how I missed it previously.
On way to Raglan for a days caching!
On way to Raglan for a days caching!
This took way longer and was more difficult than it should have been. We nearly gave up after scrambling all over the place when my daughter spotted it. TFTC
I came down to do some caching with nufrat today. We stopped here before going towards Raglan. I stopped to check my GPSr, and once it settled, I was at GZ. After a scan of the possible places, I settled on one and found the cache as the hint suggested. TFTC.
Yaaah! I'm first to log this after the lockdown, I suppose that counts for something...lol. I parked up in the off road car-parking, but started walking across the road, then my phone caught up and pointed me back across the road.. oh..,. that's where I'm supposed to be, found the track and didn't take long to get to GZ, I guessed correctly on the bending nikau, and the cache was soon in hand. Unfortunately just as I was perched up high, with log book in hand, 2 walkers popped out of nowhere and saw me there. Oh well, couldn't help that. They pretend they don't see me... yea right. Then back down to the road.
Cheers Butterfly_lady for the cache.

We have gone down to Alert 3 in our Covid-19 lockdown, and Geocaching is now allowed, so time to re-enable the caches.
DISABLING THIS CACHE TO DISCOURAGE HUNTING DURING THE COVID-19 LOCK-DOWN. NEW LOGS AFTER TODAY MAY BE DELETED. THE CACHE WILL BE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Very lucky. Hadn't checked hint before leaving GPS coverage. Fortunately remembered enough.
Trouvée après quelques recherches ! Merci l’indice ! En route pour Raglan ! Le temps est magnifique !
Day trip down to raglan and a swim at the hot pools meant we were going straight past here. Loved the baby chicks at the car park and the pleasant stroll up the hill. Gps was pretty accurate and the clear hint enabled a nice quick find. Many thanks for this cache
Found on the first day at M14’s midterm holiday. Beautiful weather for a hike in de forest. We searched for cache and found it with help of the hint. Thanks for hiding.
After short walk we reach GZ, and soon it was in our hands.

#6616. I have come up to Hamilton for a work trip. But as seems to be the pattern in the past year or so I try to add a day or so extra to each trip to do some geocaching in the new places. Its an expensive hobby with the rental cars and hotels added in to the normal gas guzzling but hey its healthier than being an alcoholic or a druggie even if its yet another form of addiction. I had to meet up with a community group in Raglan this afternoon for a meeting so headed over the hill from the city. Decided to grab any caches on the way. This was the first stop. Nice little wander up the track into the Waikato bush. Saw the object described in the description and hint. A short search and I had the cache in hand. Signed the log and replaced the cache in much the same spot (but better fitting the hint however). Thanks Butterfly_Lady for the cache.
Trip to the gardens and to Raglan. Had see the cars parked here on the way. Had a feeling a cache might be here. Phone has me in General area. Looked around spotted hint and came up with the cache. Cache had water in it and the pencil sharpener had rusted and given everything a brown colour. So removed it. Log was a little damp but no problem signing. Tftc
The track was closed due to lambing but I knew I wouldn't be going anywhere near so far. A quick dash put me near GZ but there seemed to be two possibilities. Checked one with no joy but the other yielded a very muddy cache. Signed but logbook a bit grubby. TFTC.
. On a road trip heading to Kawhia an picking up a few caches on the way. Stopped here and thought I would get up and back before the rain but not to be. Arrived at GZ thanks to the extra hints - looked around where I thought but no luck and then the heavens opened. What now - run back to the car or PAF - decided on the latter and got told I was looking correctly and just needed to get my hands dirty Tried again and felt it - thank goodness ow back to the car looking like a drowned rat. TFTC
Wow this was a quick find was a little worried this would take ages to find after reading previous logs. However the hint is fairly obvious and precise once near GZ not sure why so many people DNF this cache we did what the hint said and boom cache was in Apaches hand before i even stepped up.

Was here for an hour... looked at Obvious one first...then clambered up bank and checked all palms ..
Perhaps the increase in use of smartphones for searching (which are generally less effective than real GPS receivers in difficult coverage areas) has increased the number of DNFs, so the cache page and hint have been updated again with more help to find the box.
Thanks for bringing us here - a pleasant family walk up to the views (and back). No luck finding the cache though...
We saw 4 dumped, but handsome roosters (not brothers) at the walk's entrance that some kindly resident had stopped to feed. The walk was a nice little heart pounder but we had plenty of time to catch our breath while we tried to find this elusive little cache. We would never have found it without that hint. All in good order thanks!
The clues are perfect and not to easy but detections are not correct but a fun cool geo
called in today and checked the hide. It is sitting exactly where it is supposed to be, and the contents are dry.
We will have a go at further expanding the hint, as the gps coverage is not wonderful here.

Woke up to a beautiful sunny day, so Nahkins and I set off to conquer "Are you there yet" caches plus the 2 bonuses. Also had two at Bridal Veil falls and two on the way home to do. So that was 20 for the day. Had 3 DNF in the "Are you there yet" caches and 1 at the "4 Brothers". Couldn't find the Bonus Caches as we only found 7 Green clues and 1 Red clue. We were a bit gutted. Waterfall was in full force today. #18. Arrive at cache area. There has been earth works done. The curved nikau palm that we found has fallen over and it looks as if dirt from the culvert been put on the bank. This need checking.
Woke up to a gorgeous sunny day, so NZPatoto and I set off to conquer "are we there yet" caches plus the 2 bonuses. Added to our list were the two at Bridal Veil falls and two on the way home to do. Total 20 for the day. A little disappointed with 3 DNF in the "are we there yet" caches and 1 at the "4 Brothers". Couldn't find the Bonus Caches as we only found 7 Green clues and 1 Red clue. We were a bit gutted with the DNF’s but absolutely stoke with the beautiful day. The views in some spots were just fantastic. Waterfall was in full force today. #18. A DNF. I think there has been some major work done on this path. Nice and easy, not slippery, drainage pipes have been put in and a lot of dirt I think is covering the cache. TFTC
Super retro logging this one. We found it burried in the mud oh so long ago. sorry about the delayed log
Arrived to replace the log book and clean up the moisture, but could not find it!
Put a new 400ml box in the correct place.
If a finder locates two boxes, please put them together so we can sort it out.

Been meaning to get this cache for a few months now as every time I drove past the track was closed....open this time I came past though so up the track we went. A bit of hunting in the wrong area at first and following useless GPS signals but after reading the hint properly it was a quick find. Logbook is very wet however and was unable to sign..took a photo of cache though. Thanks for the cache

Easy find. Nice track. Thanks and greetings from Latvia!

No trouble finding this with the GPS today. Nice little walk to get to it but I found I'm not as fit as I used to be because I was puffing going up the hill. Time for some more walks. Roll on the warmer months as it is much more pleasant to explore spots like this when there is no threat of rain.
We ran up the track to find this cache. Was a lot easier than we expected as the track was reasonably straight. Hint allowed for a quick find. Thanks for the stop and stretch of the legs
Looks like a nice walk, will have to come back and do the whole thing when I'm not in cycle shoes TFTC
I didn't do the full walk but it looks Like a great track ...enjoyed the short walk to the cache and a nice easy find thanks for the cache
Was tempting to do the walk but have other caches to find. Thanks for bringing us here. Ps I had signal and data right to gz. Good old spark.
I was up finding the caches halfway between raglan and hamilton and decided to stop here as I've not attempted this cache before despite driving to Raglan heaps! No rubbish that I could see, but the track is currently 'closed', and in a bit of a state but I figured what better time to try to find it. Not sure, but I found a likely spot that fit the hint .... but nothing there. I don't think it requires a check just yet as I'm terrible at caching!
Nice stroll to GZ. NICE SPOT FOR A CACHE. Seemed to be following a certain Tauranga cacher!! On a mission today with Dee + ME. TFTC
On a road trip to Raglan with McJandals. What a beautiful spot. Shame about the rubbish !
Cheers

Decided to take my oldest on an over night caching trip to Raglan. A great couple of days and a whole bunch of new smileys. This was a bit of a numbers mission which was a shame because this walk was quite cool. My cell phone was useless here but we quickly found the cache thanks to a fool-proof hint. Cheers Butterfly Lady.
Collected this one on my way over to Ragland for the day to hang out with some friends who were over from brisy. Nice quick walk to the spot, easy find once I'd worked out if walked past the spot.
Holidays in New Zealand! We have been looking forward to them for years. We had lots of time to prepare ourselves for a great trip. As geocachers, we also picked out a number of great caches. Armed with a "to-do list" and accidental encounters we were lucky to log many caches. Thank you for placing them and keeping the game go on!
Day 4/28: Karaka - Waitomo

1165 The track is closed at present because of lambing on the open pasture but cache still available as you remain in the bush. Up and back and cleaned up some rubbish on the way.
I love those Fridays when you leave the city early to avoid the traffic and have plenty of time to get some geocaches on the way . Evilno9 and my destination for this weekend was Raglan to do some great night kayaking.
Slippery walk to GZ. After some issues with GPS reception we found the object within the hint and the goods. TFTC

Heading down to Raglan for the night and collecting a few caches along the way as we went. Quick walk up the track and after giving time for the GPS to settle it didn't take too long to find the likely hiding spot. Swooped in and made the find and then we were away again. TFTC
I was in the region with some spare time today so decided to go and find a few caches in the countryside. Last cache for me today. GPS was struggling a bit under the trees so I overshot GZ by about 20m before it settled and pointed me back in the right direction. Took a little while to spot the right feature but then the cache was quickly found. TFTC, Biggles.
17933 km from home we found this Cache while our holidays.
A break and a short walk and we learned something about palms.
Thank you very much for hiding and greetings from Dresden, Germany!

We’ve driven past this spot so many times since we started caching but, for some unknown reason, have never claimed this one. Admittedly we have stopped at the car-park a few times only to be reminded by the signs that it was lambing season and that the track was closed. Having persuaded/dragged the kids out for a great bush walk and waterfall swim at Karakariki today, I reckoned it wasn’t too much of a detour to finally find this one before we headed home. The usual array of chickens and roosters awaited us at the car-park; I’ve never understood why there are so many fowl lurking around here. I was expecting a quick dash up the track but the kids have just gotten back from a week long Junats’ summer camp and were really keen to show off their newly acquired knowledge about native flora and fauna. You wouldn't believe how long it took us to cover a mere 100 metres! Got to within 10 metres, read the hint aloud and they both dashed off to the right spot and quickly found the cache - really hope they retain all this plant knowledge!! Cache all good, nice to finally sign this one off, TFTC
Easy to find with clues. Nice bush walk, which I would love to complete one day. Cache clean and covered well. Cheers.
Log quite wet! Thanks for this cache! What a great day to get out of Auckland. Merry Christmas!
Remember coming here to orienteering in those hills over the back so it was with relief the cache was not too far in good clues TFTC
Another good chance to stretch the legs for a few minutes. Helpful hint, with the track in not too bad condition after showers.tftc
I went for a geocaching drive today and picked up a few out this way. The track was quite slippery after this morning's rain. Thanks for the cache.
The first day of School Holidays... On a mission with Gap (of Fap and Gap) to re-trace steps to Raglan. Lost a gps unit along the way, so we're hoping to find it at one of last weekends' cache finds... We're cache hunting as we go.
After failing to find Gap's gps in Raglan, we hoped it might be here at this cache... It wasn't. We walked up in darkness, aided by torchlight. The cache was quickly found. We had a good chat about the cutting and wondered why it was formed. Could be any number of reasons. I'm also curious as to the back ground of this cache name. TFTC.

3.05pm - Homeward bound from our overnight stay in Raglan, very first time here and O so beautiful, have visited some very scenic places in the last day. With this cache I do suggest you save to off line use as coverage around this area is not good. Track today was extremely slippery. SLTFTC
Walking the Karamu walkway from Lime works road, a few showers, but still got views of Hamilton.
