Lovely day for a wander around the river with a friend. We found point 1 and 2 .' Despite looking everywhere at gz we couldn't locate the cache..we did learn something about the history of the area though! Thanks
seems there may have been a few changes at GZ - at wp2 we where prevented by 5-6 m from getting to GZ, the only item we could find that matched the final looked like it had changes at GZ also ... looking at the amount of DNF's might be time for a check CO
9.00am. I feel that this one has run its course. Periodic gardening clean ups run the risk of removing the cache as in this case. Best to archive it and let someone else use the area.

Awesome place. I had been here before.
A quiet summer evening here with Westygirl and co. Plus a few muggle dog walkers near GZ.
I think I found the item noted in the clue but couldn't find the cache. Oh well... it's fairly local so another day for this one.

Have been to this area twice this past week hoping to find the final ... Was with Ric ages ago when we did the calculations ...So disappointed to not find it .
Could anyone who lives near there please check if it's still there ? Or the cache owners ? I'd really love to know !

Out to find a few caches today in the West.
Solved the waypoint coordinates and found GZ (confirmed by the hint) but couldn't find the cache!
Not sure if it is missing or not - hint is pretty specific, or we may be blind!

Had done the calculation some time ago, and finally managed to do the find today.TFTC.
Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz
See rebel98 log, a great adventure, part involved my first experience of searching in bamboo! not nice. Eventually after some discussion, the GZ was narrowed down and the cache was found. Thanks again for the hide.

Attempting this with friend who is new to geocaching, and thought to myself that I should have picked an easier find for her first cache. We got the information easily, then whilst doing the calculations it started to rain, so we moved from being under a tree, to being under the bridge. When it stopped we walked back to WP2 and used the GPS and compass to take us to GZ. Now we know we were searching in the wrong place, and when we could not find it, we went to do the nearby Mighty mega sticks. After we returned to WP2 with the added knowledge that I had missed the difference between true and magnetic. With new calculations, and looking beyond, we headed towards this new GZ. With the help of the clue the cache was found. Thanks for the history and the hide.
Out with the Future Finder looking for opportunities for him to use his new compass. No problem calculating the WP. However I used a different sign for the projection and royally stuffed things up. Despite obvious error I persisted much to the annoyance of the good sense of the FF. Eventually checked the checksum an admitted my fallibility. Back to square one were we quickly sorted things. Off to the correct GZ this time for a quick find. At least we got plenty of exercise! Cache is on the damp side. Rescued the GeoCoin. Cheers for the multicache!
I did the required arithmetic and checked my numbers were good. Back at the entrance, I was near something that fitted the hint but there were far too many tall prickly weeds for me to be able to locate the cache so after about 20 minutes I gave up. Quite possibly, I projected incorrectly since I was estimating the bearing by sighting North and going slightly off that line. Thanks anyway.
Stopped off on my way to Riverhead Forest for a spot of mountain biking. Took a wee while to spot. TFTC.
Found with renelm and Difool, logged as RAD to save log space, time and trees.
I am not much of a logwriter, so see renelms, and possibly Difools, log for details.

Loved this multi! Parked up in nearby side road and headed across to WP 1. I carefully read the info panel calculating the next WP. Going to the next WP was a bit mushy underfoot with all the recent rain. What an interesting place to explore, pity they've fenced it off now. Recalculated the next WP and off I went. Got to GZ and searched about for a bit before I walked back to the car for a drink. Moved the car closer to the final WP and as soon as I did that 3 cars roll on in and park up!!! How frustrating! One left quickly - must have decided it was too crowded, the other driver settled in with his book while the other vehicle let their dog out for a toilet stop!
While everyone was distracted and minding their own business, I dashed off to GZ and hide out of sight. Luckily I did because I found the cache!!! Retrieved 3 TBs that have been in this one for the past 6 months and will send them on their travels again. A fav point from me! TFTC!!!

Headed out this morning to locate some of the 101 Dalmatian caches that we failed to find when we did the power trail last year. Having more time this trip, we decided to locate some of the other nearby caches also.
Completed this nice and easy multi between rain showers - an interesting location.

Found with Mike-miss this morning on the way north to tackle the puppy power trail. Interesting history lesson. We misread the cache description, and raced off to WP2 without doing all the calculations. Once we realised this, we came back as far as the WHITE sign closer to the ruins, but the info on that sign is different to the first sign, so the checksum didn't match. Once we had the coords sorted, I gave Mike a quick lesson on projecting waypoints and we were off to the final. Quick find of the final, but the stages took a bit longer due to our own retardedness.
Out with stretch.kerr today to do the Puppy Powertrail. We decided to stop here and get a couple of caches on our way to the start of the trail. I must admit, that i had only read the first lot of calculations from the description and made our way to WP2. After not being able to find a cache, i realised that i had made an error so we backtracked to the white sign to complete the calculations. The checksum never added up so we rechecked our calculations and still, they didnt add up. So we headed back to the start and realised that the information between signs is different. With all the info sorted, i got a quick lesson on projecting waypoints and we were on our way to the final. Cache found quickly on our arrival to GZ. TFTC and history lesson!

Our fifth day of our honeymoon to New Zealand and Australia.
Yesterday it was a bit late before we had logged all caches, but we woke up very early this morning. For *Ba it was a nice day with a nice wake up and a nice amount of caches in view. After having our New Zealand breakfast we walked to Hertz to rent a car for one day. It became a Toyota Carolla, which is here a small car, but in the Netherlands already a medium size car. As always driving on the right side of the road it was our first experience of driving left. But it went not too bad. We took only by accident the exit as we did not notice that the left lane was the exit one and not the slowest way on the highway.
Normally we are not the geocacher who love to do trails like this, but as our target is to reach our 5.000 founds during our honeymoon trip in Australia we needed a certain amount of caches. For us this is the second time in our geocaching career that we found more than 100 caches on one day.
After doing the trail Jo wanted to go back to the hotel as she had some pain in her eyes. We decided to take a little detour to also visit a multi cache , letterbox and earth cache. The total founds of today came on 110 caches. After driving back to Auckland we first changes glasses in the hotel, brought the rented car back and walked again to the supermarket for a diner. Along the way we visited some shops and Ba found a belt for only 5 NZD. In our opinion the food is very very expensive in New Zealand we had a simple diner of Mexican wraps out of the oven and a salad of onion and cucumber. The desert was the same as yesterday, because we bought already a six pack.
This was our last day in Auckland. Tomorrow we drive further to Whitianga. We hope the weather is at least as good as today. We started with a very cloudy sky, but during the trail we saw also some sun. And if it could be a bit warmer, that would even be more nicer.
We found this cache today between 2.00 PM local time.
We were looking for a multi (to collect as many icons as possible in New Zealand) and we saw this cache. After having some shopping in the nearby Four Square supermarket we went to this cache. The information sign was very nice to read and the answers on the questions were found quickly. At first we made a reading error, but correcting it the road to the cache was clear and we easily found the item mentioned in the hint. After a bit of searching also the canister with logbook was found and we were proud to put our name inside. In the Netherlands we still have a lot of mills. Some of them are still in use, some are just for showing history.

Thanks for challenging our GPS driving. Haven't had to project a waypoint for ages and had forgotten how.
Had a good look both sides of the fence. Maybe our eyes were failing us, but none of the team could find.
A lovely spot - the tide was in, and lots of muggles around this sunny afternoon, so retrieving the cache had to be sneaky.
Our young cache seeker thought it was awsome because it was blended in, a good mix of skills needed (GPS, Compass etc)for newbies like us.... Great fun
Teamed up with mel_ramsay to do a few afternoon caches before settling in to watch the cricket (should have kept caching). After some initial problems with the maths (our own doing), we hit the right areas and made the right calculations before needing a bit of time to make the final. Wasn't quite expecting it to be where it was but it's definitely in a safe spot. TFTC!
Nice afternoon for a drive, so headed out this one to pick up a couple of multi's. Hit up this one first, and once we got our maths sorted and the numbers round the rite way, we were on the rite track. Took a while to locate the find, but after thinking outside the square (or inside as the case may be) it was quickly found. nice spot to explore, TFTC!
Out and about with troutfly today picking up a few caches and a power trail. This was one of about 50 caches I managed to knock off today. Thanks for this nice little multi, had to do the maths twice but we got there in the end trout fly spotted the cache and the rest is history.
Out and about with ishoot grabbing a few caches. We had a bit of trouble with addition and subtraction, but once we had sorted out that 1 + 1 = 2, we were fine. Thanks.
fitzy_1965, Sol de lune and I visited NZ over the Easter Long Weekend on a caching run. We were here in early January this year for a holiday and a caching run. Then I won Business Class return flights to Auckland on Emirates (the flight was awesome by the way) so we're back!
This was a great day, we just finished the 101 Dalmations power trail and were doing some more caches around the local area.
We did the calcs for this one and went to what we thought was GZ. I was on fire today and called the boys over thinking that I had an inkling about GZ and I was right!

3685 + 122 = 3807. ACBC 66, Sol de lune and I visited NZ over the Easter Long Weekend on a Caching run. Specifically to do the 101 Dalmations Power Trail and some nearby caches.
ACBC 66 and I visited NZ from Boxing Day last year to early January this year for a holiday and a caching run. Just after we got back home to Oz two things happened - the 101 Dalmations Power Trail was published, and ACBC 66 won Business Class Flights Return to Auckland on Emirates !!!! WooHoo - we knew that was a sign and so we planned this trip specifically to knock off (hopefully) all 102 caches in the series as well as many more. Sol de lune completed the caching trio from Oz which tackled the road and the Puppies on Easter Friday.
After finishing the Power Trail we drove into Riverhead to do a couple more local caches. We found the info, did the calcs and headed in the general direction of GZ. After about 10 minutes ACBC 66 made the GZ find and the cache was soon in hand ! Thanks for an interesting cache Just Floundering !!

Nice little multi with some interesting history. Was a little hesitant at the end crossing the fence, but spotted the cache first and that made it easy. The boardwalk under the bridge was under water, the tide was so high, and still coming in. Lovely spot. TFTC!!!

3.30pm. Visited GZ today and confirmed there had been clearing in the area. But there was the cache! - about 2m. away and when I opened the log it was obvious that the gardeners had investigated what it was all about and made a log themselves. I have repositioned the cache about 2m SE of the spot where the projection will take you. Good luck.

6.00pm. Boy4Life has sent me some photos which suggests to me that the ground around GZ has been cleared and I fear the cache may have gone. I shall visit the site in the next 2 - 3 weeks and ascertain the position. Until them better to have the cache temporarily disabled to avoid frustrating other geocachers.

Mixed it all in first place and ventured deep into the ruins. The true heading with the distance brought us close, but a double-check back home showed that we were just slightly off and searched in vain. Anyway, was a nice spot to come to and interesting to learn about the old mills.

Always like a nice little multi that is worth the effort but not too long. This was perfect and we soon had the co-ords in and back past the car to GZ. TFTC
Did quite well with this one as we forgot the compass, did a calculated projection on direction and used the clue to help. Cache in hand, collected tank to drop off in the war zone.
Interesting cache hunt learning local history on our way Quick find with luckly no one around Took kiwi left bracelet. Took Green Eyed TB. T4TC.
Enjoyed the history of this spot. Did the first two waypoints fairly quickly at 7.30pm, and identified the likely GZ. However four muggles enjoying takeaways at the picnic tables by the river prevented us from retrieving the cache. We opted to do another couple of nearby caches and returned at 8.45pm. All clear by this time, but now nearly dark. Fortunately our calculations had proved correct and the cache was quickly in hand - though we had to retreat to the street light in the carpark to inspect its contents - our first night cache!

Nice little back and forth with me mate nzJamo. It wasn't hard to find although with the fence in the way it was a dodgy swing around the end of it over the 3m drop to the river. The log book is still legible but is damp all the way through, needs a good dry out and some absorbant pellet packets. Nothing out & Inflatable picture frame in.
Cache is still rather wet and the log is getting soggy too. We have tried to dry it out a bit, but it may need looking at.
Great fun, many thanks.

We just enjoyed all the caches in this area! This one proved to be a bit more tricky as we're still relative newbies at projecting. However, on WP3, we managed to get within 10m radius of GZ (to our surprise) and after some rummaging, were well rewarded with cache in hand.

At last we were able to use our newly learnt projections!! and once we realised that we had to change our distance from kilometers (wondered why the marker was nowhere to be seen on the screen!!!) to meters..... doh - then of course it all made sense and found the cache quite easily. I let the student take over the GPS and she did it all. You should have seen the delight on her face when she located the final. It probably what I, and the rest of us more experienced ones, was like on our first find.
TNLNSL.
Cheers for the cache.

A classic kayaking trip up here, especially with diner at the hotel just downstream.

#477. You know, every now and again you have a cache that you stuff up big time....and this one was it for me.
Previous attempt I'd got the bearing and distance about face - durgh! But did discover functions on my e-trex I didn't know existed.!
Then after a couple of e-mails to Just Floundering ended up confusing myself with True and Grid so ended up searching 19 degrees off.
Common sense nearly prevailed, and I have to admit to searching the GZ structure and all others near it, but because I didn't think it was the right place I didn't look hard enough!
So resorted to 50:50; ask the audience and dial a friend in order to achieve closure to this rather embarrassing event. ahem - thank you JF.

A great lesson in local history. We used a trusty old Silva compass and managed to find the cache straight away. I can't keep up with this new technology! Enjoyable cache, not far from home.
We'd read about the deserving family on the corner who had been given a house and garden makeover by the kind residents of Riverhead. It was nice to see the end result.

Finally found it!! Very, very well disguised...
This was our second attempt, but we were determined to come back and try again. We also got confused by the dates on the second sign which are different from the first sign!
It was also a "learning" cache for us after going home to read the manual and finding out how to project waypoints instead of relying solely on the hint which took us to some other interesting spots (one in particular we will remember with some uh hm... human excrement)
TFTC!

Mixed result today.
For those that follow ignore the sign near WP2 which has different values for the Flour and Paper Mill start and closure dates - got quite confusing for a while as the totals didn't match the check sum.
Wondered about add or subtract to get from True to Magnetic.
Set off with E-trex firmly of the view it didn't do projections so was working on the basis of following the circumference of a circle relative to WP2 as the centre.
Explored a vacant lot that was riddled with gorse and brambles - not a happy time in shorts and sandals.
Then on walking back to the car discovered by chance all these other functions on the e-trex including bearings which I never knew about. Only had it 3 years but no manual.[:o)]
Tried to locate the GZ once again but nothing obvious so guess I'm doing something stupid.
Other than Kiwi Gary am I the only person who owns up to DNFs

No you are not alone St Ouens - I also missed it today. There was plenty of flattened grass around GZ so it appears that others have searched there but I am not sure that I actually found the item indicated in the hint.
I've driven past here heaps and was even considering hiding a cache here. I'm glad I did not as I really enjoyed the Mill's history lesson.
I had no idea there use to be a mill here and really enjoyed walking about the ruins.
Got the math correct first time as well
My sons quickly found the cache and swapped goodies in and out of the cache.
Its great to see another cache out North-West Auckland

Good history lesson. Made the stop on out way to a mountain bike ride in Riverhead Forest. Easy find. TFTC
We like this area. Doing a fair bit of mountainbiking and the cafe at the Kauri museum makes nice coffees. So, had to drag GSAH and Di to attempt this new cache. Perhaps a chance of FTF? Instructions were relatively easy. Good historic background. I like the use of bearing and distance, except that my primitive GPSr only allows accuracy to nearest 100 meters. So, GSAH beat me to it with his accurate machine. Never mind, he was not first anyway. Lovely cache, well done!
16h00 - Stopped at this one on our way North to a family camping weekend. Had a look around the interesting ruins, and then headed to the cache - easy find.

Second time here, came this morning stuffed up my calculation and ended up in a strange location. That I didn't think a cache would be located.
So went home sad as I had to be somewhere mid morning. At home I checked my figures and headed back this afternoon. Surprised to be still FTF but I'm not complaining .
Interesting bit of local history and a nice spot for the cache. When we returned to the car we noticed a parking ticket on the windscreen, but don't worry it wasn't from parking in Riverhead, it was from my adventure in town this morning. Hmmm I guess they are just doing they job
Thanks for the cache, TNLN.
