Out for a few caches after the rocky point run/walk today. Found with aslis_01 and my younger brother on our second day out cache adventuring in Westport.Simple wee find cache extremely wet, managed to dry the log and get our names on it tftc.
I couldn't squeeze many Geoching into this short trip to Westport, as on the way with non-cachers. But this one was close to the AirBnB and I was "allowed" to get some GC, haha. This was one of them.
A nice stretch of the legs along here. Found after looking in a couple of places first. Tftc
Phew that was a stretch for a person rehabbing a broken ankle. The Aggies nearly defeated me but we pressed on! Full tide and rain so no birds for Piwaka54! A fav point from us
Finally made the time to grab this one today , using the work truck as camo and decked out in hi viz I blended right in for a quick find..added some dry paper tftc
Old Ghost Road done...boots off...change of clothes...time to head home
A lovely wee spot on the road to nowhere in particular.
Given the vintage of this cache I wanted to detour to take a look.
Stepped on the container as I stepped down the 'hole' but all is well.
Thanks #3415

Nice quick find while staying in Westport suprising our friend for his 50th birthday. Log very wet. Met a beautiful toenail painted pig while doing this cache. And some wee horsies.
I had planned for today to locate and sign off a few caches around the Westport metropolis.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
(# 5439). Today is day 9 of my West Coast trip. Today I am traveling from Westport to St Arnaud. Main goal was the Brunner Peninsula Walk. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

After a full days work of dealing with eels, brown trout, giant kokopu, bullies and whitebait at Bradshaws and Deadmans streams for a UC research project we came to check out the estuary and see if there are any whitebaiters on Orowhaiti River. There were none. Took Saturday off? Too late for them already?
Anyway, cache was located quickly. Poured some water out while admiring the 'wee bach' for sale across the road.
Ebb is gone. Flo is coming back.

Stopped off here to snag this one. Log wet so arranged a replacement RITR log to keep this one rolling along. Cheers.
Its off on another geotour this weekend with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby. We spent last Sunday in Nelson collecting the gemstones from the Museum Heist, so this weekend we are on a Geotour to the Westcoast with The Seagnoid, Zara and Toby, to return the gems. Early Saturday morning we went on another magical tour of Denniston. Great views today just after dawn. Enjoyed a walk along the Kawatiri River Trail.

Nice little find here. The water is ebbing. The river is flowing. Yep, it's confusing!
Taybeedragon and I headed out to the West Coast to figure out how to return the jewels taken from that big heist at the Teague-Ulmer Museum back into their vault. And I picked the West Coast to do that as there is a cache nearby that gives me the last hidden month for a NZ Jasmer. And on top of all that, it is the 50 year anniversary of the first men on the moon - Happy Moon Landing Day! While the rest of the country was bathed in glorious rain, we were stuck with sunshine and clouds. Oh, well, can't have it all.

A well buried in the aggies...eventually found ..what neat quiet area ..thanks moneydork
I wasnt sure if this would still be here as it hasn't been found for a while. Parked the motor home adjacent and had a quick look before muggle walking dog came along and wanted to chat. As soon as he had moved on, I had another look and located the cache deep down. Thanks for the placement
A quick jaunt down to Westport to see some friends and to see how life is these days on the wild West Coast Find #4 for the trip, the first in Westport and just about outside the gate of the holiday home of a family friend alas, not our accommodation for the night though. The kids loved racing around in the mud. Good times. TFTC.
Found the cache and thought "what a great little neighbourhood". Drove down the street to turn around and imagined ourselves living here. Got back to where we were staying and I just happened to spy some old newspapers in the lounge. Saw some from early February and a story about Snodgrass homes getting flooded. Hope those whose homes got flooded quickly recover.
Had a look for this cache last year but a whitebaiter was right at the GZ and didnt look like he was moving anytime soon so back again and being a fine day today decided to have a little bike ride into town and check out cache again. I was not expecting to find it after the two recent cyclones and the floods that left several houses here red stickered so was pleasantly surprised to soon have cache in hand albeit the cache log a bit wet.
Once gps settled enough, we parked strategically and hunted for the cache. Upon finding it, discovered it was full of water. May have had the tide through it at some stage. Did what we could, but needs looking at. tftc
With a van to transport me around I headed out after the parade in Westport town centre for a couple of hours break in the sunshine and a few caches. Q E F here, removed the resident damp logs and signed the dry one within. T F T C Moneydork
And so it was decided that for this years Anzac Day observations that a group of my workmates and I would head West, to the Coast, to pay our respects and parade in the Air Force colours. We loaded into the van on mid-afternoon on Monday and arrived in Westport just on dusk. Checked into the motel apartments for the evening before an 0430 start on Tuesday to parade at Granity followed by Waimangaroa at 09145 and finishing at Westport at 1100 to march on the Cenotaph.
An awesome couple of days with many new people met, places seen and other experiences and tales from the Coast. Oh, and a few caches too!

I was fortunate enough to be able to squeeze an 11 day holiday out of two leave days!! I headed out west to find some caches, see some sights, and relax before the madness of the semester hits. The weather was unbelievably good, only a bit of a storm over Arthur's Pass on the first day, otherwise hot and sunny. I found a great variety of caches, drive by's, walks, hikes, even a power trail. Thank you to all the CO's for their great hides!!!
Stayed nearby last night so this was a nice way to start the day. Log is completely wet tftc
The tide was in when we visited so a lovely outlook at a peaceful spot. As I was the driver, I stayed in the car while StreetWalker, who was on the "right" side popped out for a quick find. TFTC.
From Wesport to Karamea today, though doubtful of getting there after the windstorm. Power out in Karamea when we got there made a cosy night in the hostel. Cache all good after the wind. Plenty of tidying up of windfalls going on. Thanks for the hide.
A ten minute walk from where we were staying. Quickly made the find while the nearbypied stilt was looking the other way. TFTC
Found it
hopefully it won't be removed as they have been clearing trees in the area

Nice hide in a familiar stretch for hubby. He used to play in the lagoon as a kid. TFTC Here visitng in-laws for a few days. Found between West coast showers.
A quick easy find beside the estuary. There is a very interesting fence on the road to the cache. TFTC
As part of our holiday in the West Coast, Geomum and I geared up to do as much Geocaching as we could in the ten days that we spent there. We went to some beautiful and interesting places while we were there, and managed to reach our goal total of 500 caches too! This was one of the caches we found on our journey, thank you for placing it!
Nice quick find. was a little water in the countainer. emptied it out.
also bag for the log has a hole in it so water is getting into there to. log still seemed to be ok thought.

Favourite cache of the day. Very lucky with the weather and the river looked fantastic. Found with Little S1 and have both learnt what a cabbage tree looks like. TFTC.
... found it ! ... on a morning drive about Westport. ... all was quiet along the estuary. ... so that's what a cabbage tree looks like, huh ? ... TFTH
Found it! Didn't know that was called a cabbage tree, but I'm not from NZ.

On a caching trip with Holymu destination West Coast. This cache was on the list of night caches. Amasing you can still get muggled around here at night time. No probs though. TFTC
Our first attempt at night caching round Carter's Beach was thwarted when we arrived to find a fireworks display about to happen. At least with all the locals gathered there it meant less muggles elsewhere so a quick change of order saw us carry on after making a donation to the Search and Rescue volunteers manning the road intersections. A few muggles out here but no problems with the retrieval and re hiding. TFTC.
On a mega road trip to the mega via the West Coast. Nice spot, tide was out today. Quick find. SL. TFTC.
