Couldn't find the cache despite a good look around gz. Really enjoyed viewing the extensive infrastructure and mine diggings from days gone by
DNF, found a likely spot, but couldn't get in there properly. Planning to try again in the near future.
I think this area is too well maintained by the council. It looks like it could have been thrown out.
Out for a drive with my mother and Peter. Enjoyed my time getting to see Mount Morgan.
There was a "gentleman" sitting at GZ as we drove up. And it looked like he was there for the duration. Explained geocaching to him and he wound up helping me search. I had not figured out that we were supposed to be searching 40-50 feet away as I thought that the hint referred to the distance from GZ to the hive sign. Oh well...

Spent a while searching for this one. Hope no one has accidentally stumbled upon it! Might try my luck in the day time

448.9 Km from Home.
Our Rumble in Rocky Run (A Gangster themed party, which turned into a surprise wedding)
A great stop and leg stretch, when I joined the Army in 1975, my room mate (Matt Bouma) came from Mt Morgan, he used to rave about the place, when I first drove through here in the early 1980’s, I couldn’t see what he was on about. Now maybe I appreciate what he was on about a bit more. I could imagine the mine in full swing and all the noises coming from it.
The hide, the container and the log are all in good condition and ready for the next finder.
Thanks for the cache JJ + KT

A nice easy find after reading the cache notes carefully
Not that I needed too, I would have searched there eventually
And what a classic view of a mine [^]
I broke out the binoculars for a better look

and visit to a place,
that I would not have found,
without a geocache

Was expecting the cache to be at the listed coords not some distance away. Technically a multi but not difficult. A bit of brain power and it's in the hand. Not such a big slag pile for 100 years of gold production but a good view all the same. Cache is not attached to anything, just balancing ok for the moment. TFTC
We stood here in a tour group earlier in the day (not a good time to pick up a cache). We found Captain Terror's co-ordinates to be spot on; SL; TFTC
a great view ! busy with muggles today but when they got I wasn't leaving they did
thank you JJ + KT for the cache

What an amazing view from up here, this certainly was a busy place place in it's time. The Goemrs found the container after a brief search, SL, TNLN, TFTC
We planned on a geocaching drive from yeppoon to escape the rain today, we were heading to calliope but looked like rain that way so we headed off to mount morgan however after the deluge the area has a lot of caches that are inaccessible due to road closures so we did our best this one was a fantastic look at the mine and it sure would have been a sight to see in its day!!!
Wow! A busy hive indeed. As the sign suggests, I can only imagine what this place was like in it heyday. The town sure thrived off what was in that mountain, still many old houses and many rusty roofs. I also dare not think what the mine has done to the creek, no creek should be bright green and leave yellow residue on everything it touches. All the same one must view in awe the sheer volume of earth that has been moved out there. Mt. Morgan is certainly no mountain anymore.
onto the cache and the co-ords had me in an unlikely area. I read the hint and noted this was expected. I saw something likely nearby and after a quick hunt found the beast in an obvious hide. I added my name to the log and recorded the hint. I've also posted the co-ords that worked for me today at GZ. A great spot for a cache and another step closer to finishing this series, TFTC JJ + KT

found this cache lying on the ground. the sticky on it has come unstuck. also, as it is listed as a traditional I have included the co-ordinates at the location where I found and re-hid (as best I could) the cache.

Bit of an odd set up where the cache is defined as 15 paces away from the given co-ords. For the record walk 310 degrees.
Excellent view of the mine. Worth the visit. Interesting to read the history and think of times gone by. Pencil needs sharpening or take your own pen.
The cache was found after 15 paces were paced. Indeed the place was a hive of activity when I was below. Loved the old buildings and the way they had been restored in this historic town.
Thanks to JJ + KT and clear skies from TeamAstro.

I would rather the cache to be at the cords and not 15 paces away as I use a walking stick and my paces arn't very big, Never mind cache was found and signed, great view.
Staying at Mulambin near Yeppoon for the last week or so and today we were on our way to Mt Morgan to check out the old town.
This cache bought us to this great lookout which is not signposted and neither is the other one so may be a location for another cache.
My thoughts on this guy is that a Traditional should have the co-ords where the cache is not 15m away and you have to read the hint to find it.
If you wish to do this you either make it a multi or a mystery!
If the UMP had of known this he would not have publish this guy I am sure.
That by the way I enjoyed the great vista and marveled that so much earth has been removed and so much wealth has been created for the lucky shareholders.
Thanks for bringing us to this cache site.

This was our first hunt together as a fam. It was great!!! Loved finding this in our very own town!!!
Coords were a bit out, but using our super cachey senses I managed to find it. Cheers Gav [8484]
Not at the co-ordinates. But it is near, seek the information and you will find.

Found at 1515. Spent a bit of time searching at the posted coordinates until we realised that the cache was not at the posted coordinates. We found the cache 13 Metres from the posted coordinates. Thanks JJ + KT.
Grabbed on our way through town, a very interesting place we will return to explore and find other caches. SL TNLN TFTC
Found it together with 'Blitar'. Was a bit of a competition who would find it first. hehe... that would be me....

Picked this one up one our way to Cania Gorge. Wrote down the clue but will have to complete the series at another time. Fantastic place to put a cache, otherwise who would have known to come here ... what a great snap shot of Mt Morgan. Thanks for the cache.
Pt. Douglas Trip 09.3. This is a busy lookout. I have been here three times over the last few years. I had a short gap between two different hordes of sightseers. Thanks.

A sneaky and very effective hide. Easy to find but safe as houses! What a great spot and one I didn’t know about. Ever since my first trip through Mt Morgan in 2003 I have promised myself that I would one day come and take a really good look around this place. Well not on this trip I am afraid but hey I did get a great view of the mine rehabilitation or lack of it.
Found it easy good hide and great view over Mine hills.Thank you for team JJ + KT organising the cache and hunt.

A long way from where the gps thought it was, must be something magical about that shelter. Anyway, found after a relatively short search interrupted by 2 carloads of fellow sightseers.
I would love to check out the old mine but too late for a tour and leaving too early.

Most unusual way of setting the coordinates.
Found after examining every nail in the shelter.
Good view but needs a rubbish detail!

Found at 15:48 hrs. Good, no one at the lookout. GPS was pointing to the shelter. Looked everywhere but no luck. No, not another one gone. Looked further around area and finally came up with the cache.

Hmmm...it does look vaguely like Burra SA. But alas all mines in the C19th tended to look the same! TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache, Cheers R4R
Muggles around at first. Once the way was clear still could not locate. Disapointing.
Thought we had this one for the "sand team" but alas cooroy won the race on this one. Great work Andy, a great hide too.

And a busy spot it was. First the tourist bus, then the workmen. Found an opportunity to grab the little sucker - and did what we needed. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting area. It is a lot like Burra is Sth Aust.
driving through today ...
not much time, but thought I may as well grab the 1st Morgan cache - so I can start putting all the clues together for the final mystery cache. cheers Dan

Second cache for the day and an easy find as we had spotted fellow cachers there on our first visit

found 3pm along with ausbettsee47. She looked straight up at the location of where the cache was hidden but didn't find it.. Took us a little bit working together to find it.. Eventually I looked back where she originally searched and found it... She couldn't believe it cause she had looked there first and never saw it. This was our 5th to find for the day.
Found this one with Jimw83, Abseilqld, and friend around 10:45am. This was the 3rd for the day and as a team we were FTF.

Simple one to find... but on the simple one's is where accidents happen. Kat had a slip and hurt her knee. Luckily nothing bad, and she was good enough to tough it out for the rest of the day!
Not wanting to join in the parade of cachers doing the rounds, I took a different route, and came back to this one later. Found at 11.40am. Its good to see the local council has really started to exploit the history of their town, with informative signs at most places of interest. Even though I had worked at Mt Morgan about 20 years ago, and had driven around the area very extensively, I didnt know this spot existed.
This was my 3rd for the day, and 2nd for the event.
Thanks for the cache,
Cheers

A nice location to start off the day whilst attending the great Event at Mount Morgan. If i hadn't ruled out all those alternative locations, then i believe there would be quite a few cachers who wouldn't have found it.
