Will have to make some big decisions here - will see if it can be resurrected

02-Jun-10
Went & had a good scout around this morning with Sacha the Geo-dog & I think this one's in need of some maintenance -
S1 was going to put as a DNF but now I see I was supposed to be looking for a sign so will go back again once a checks been made
S3 managed to find 2 bears (K & D) in this one
S4 had a good 5 minute look both times I past but no luck altho having use of only one arm at the mom may have hindered me - very open here so possibly been muggled ?
S5 the recent flooding has been thru here so possibly been washed away -altho I now read the previous searchers found it damaged & moved it to behind the tree so may possibly be there but there has been a bit of water thru here so a check is in order please
- nice morning for a stroll down here tho -cheers - & I hope these missing ones come out of hibernation Smile

06-Apr-10
Found two containers and one bear! The second container survived the fire and machinery on the track with only one corner melted, also left it exposed so moved it behind the tree. Will attemp again another day.

07-Oct-09
Finally polished this one off. Done some of it on a previous visits (and didn't have to double up too much!). Today was the day for finishing off Ashburton multis and puzzles. Thanks.

22-Aug-09
This was a fun cache with which to start the day. The track was being gravelled and compressed while we were there, making for a high standard. TFTC

Ha ha ha - finally an Ashburton log where I'm not following Troodles and StreetWalkerNZ! They did what WoolfieNZ and I did and went to Ashers for caching for the long weekend. However, I guess they weren't too keen on this one or thought it would take too long.

We had a good go. Got really stumped at the second stop, searched all over, got infuriated, swore at cache owner a lot. Went on to the other stops and at the end actually READ THE DESCRIPTION. D'oh!! Sorry for swearing - we went back and got the second stop info right quick then. Smile It appears we weren't the only ones fooled though, as our searching was following geotrails.

Clues were required to find them, and the track got very overgrown and bad to ride near the end. But otherwise a lovely time was had. Nice little riverside track, most of it easily negotiable by us novices. We moved some teddies around, which I thought was a fun aspect of a multi that I'd not encountered before. Smile

Found the final relatively easily, although felt a little 'lost in the bush' seeking it. Noisy dirtbikers nearby the entire time - whiney little bumblebee things!

Thanks for a very enjoyable multi.

Thank you for the work and innovation in making this cache.

It was enjoyable, I do like MTB tracks, however it did exhaust me. I think I got totally dehydrated. Day got really hot and I had water with me but did not stop and really have a drink when I should have. (note to others)

Moving the initial starting cache as the "man made" hding place has been "man dismantled". About 13m adjustment. Smile

With a few tweaks, and the bears all rested, its away and running again. One new clue to replace the poor lost chap.

23-Nov-08
Found today -our second time searching for this one. Unfortunately some heavy earth moving /clearance had been done at WP1, removing the cache as it went, so needed some assistance to work out final WP. A nice walk along the river though. With the recent spring growth and gale force winds leveling a few trees, the landscape was quite different to the first walk back in the winter. TFTC

23-Nov-08
The bears are now all back at the den for a refurbishment. The final has been also retrieved (wet) thanks to x-marks the spot, and the cache will be replaced soon.

22-Nov-08
The area has undergone some work. Sadly at least one WP is missing.
We know of at least one cacher who is ready to find the final, so anyone that finds the final please log as found regardless of the status - we will leave the final there, and we will also try to get the rest of the bears back in action soon.
Small bear versus bulldozer = no contest.

08-Aug-08
Spent a nice afternoon looking though -have found half the teddies, need the last 2 to complete.

09-Jun-08
Updated llsiting as per rediguana note - hid WP2 and removed hint.
Thanks for the advice.

08-Jun-08
This was quite a mission tonight. Two of the access roads were closed with works, so we had to access via alternate means. Ended up visiting all four of the waypoints to get the answers and finding the final cache. As an aside, I don't think it is appropriate that notice that one of the waypoints no longer exists is only provided in the hints. The waypoint should either be replaced, or removed from the page (and by association pocket queries) and the description updated. Cheers Gav [2215]

Finally. I had visited all the WP's before - but never got all the teddies. And not remembering them all certainly made it even more interesting. With one - it wasn't till I put my hand in that I though - "I've been here before". I'd even bought my bike along for a ride, but seeing as the others didn't have bikes - we did it the slow way. Thanks for a very interesting and challenging cache (especially for us out-of-towners), and also thanks for the fix-up.

After finding all the WP a few weeks ago returned to today and found the cache. Our little boy loved the drive in on the 4WD style muddy tacks in the 2WD car.

Found the cache in about 10 sec when at GZ. Enjoyed the whole cache wandering along the river bank, just a shame some people treat the place as a tip.

Dropping in the Lost Lamb for a spell.

31-Mar-08
Quick visit to drop of travel bug with a secret and pick up templar geocoin. I am sure we can find at least one teddy bear for this coin to have it's photo with.

23-Mar-08
Found all the WP but ran out of time to collect the final. Was in town for the Zephyr rally as Stephens Dad is in the local club so no chance to grab on Sunday either. Not to worry as we now know where the final location is. Left the bears as was.

31-Dec-07
A nice day for a walk and to check our the Rp's and teddies. All Teddies in accounted for but 1 RP missing. We have decided to delete this RP because of the increased risk of it getting muggled. Carried around a Templa Geocoin to have it's picture taken with all the Teddies and then placed it in the final for the next lucky finder.

Really enjoyed doing this cache. Completed in one day but had to go away for a bit.

Found it all in one day, gave the bears a good mix up. all reasonably straight forward except WP1 spent a while on that one.

08-Sep-07
Found on a day out caching in Ashburton with lytteltonwitch. A lot of muggles on the track today who always seemed to approach us near the cache sites. Moved the teddies around. Enjoyable cache and much quicker than expected. TNLN

08-Sep-07
A pleasant walk along the track and it didn't take as long as expected. There was a PD gang working on the track and they invited us to join them for a cuppa which we declined.

12-Aug-07
Went for a wander to check out points after some comments. And to stir those bears up a bit. Took second cacher (KB) keen to solve this one to see how finding the points went. All looking O.K., but amended listing for WP3 as there has been some clearing work there, exposing a new post that was once buried. Cheers all.

12-Aug-07
A lot of hunting but found it. Went to see if all the points were still there. They were. Took bracelet, left mini basketball. SL. T4TC. Quite a few people around.

02-Aug-07
Quite a little bear-hunt!! Enjoyed the riverside walk. WP3 missing, but I managed to deduce the final location, as the missing bear was not critical. Be good to get it back in line though. Took me about an hour. No swaps, thanks and cheers from Grandalf(897)

Adjusted coords for point 5 - there was some confusion on this one. Thanks very much to the coord donor.

Wow - fancy coming across the cache owner while he was moving bears around while I was doing the cache. It was great having some company whilst doing the cache.
Had to guess one of the numbers as I couldn't get to one of the waypoint locations due to PD muggles.
Turns out my first guess was bang on!!

Thanks,
Moneydork.

This was great wee cache, I had to leave the last waypoint until the PD worker's had left.

Thanks Bitsprayer

Nice multi-cache. I used my MTB to gather the clues - well 4 of them! WP3 was missing and with it Bears D & F had gone AWOL. I used what clues I had and the hint to guess the final location. After an initial wrong guess, my 2nd proved to be correct. All in all a satisfactory outcome - I really didn't want to have to come back and start all over again at my next visit to Ashburton! The cache was full of quite an amount of water, but fortunately the bagged contents were OK. I dried the container and removed camo paint from the seal gasket. - GeoCoin TB. Thanks for this cache and the others that I have enjoyed on this visit to Ashburton. Till next time, cheers.

Yes I was the two year old who got tired, hungry and grumpy. At least we had a yummy dinner.
I enjoyed walking in the area when I wasn't hungry.
Thanks for the cache.

15-Apr-07
Lots of walking yesterday, I got hungry so we went home.
It was lots of fun moving the teddies around.

32. Well we started this yesterday afternoon and after three hours 2yrold had long ago given up being happy and 4yrold was following suit. Time for takeaways, home and sleep.
Came back the following day and parked closer to stage 4.
As we came out earlier in the afternoon the boys seemed to last better and with only another hours walking we had it completed and another find under our belt.
Certainly enjoyed moving the bears around the different stages.

Dropped in Geocoin Wall (is German)
Picked up Travel Bug Bungy Sheep

Would have liked to take teddy bear but didn't have anything of worth to trade for it/him.

Thanks so much for a great hunt I am so relieved now we have completed it. Didn't want to leave finishing it too long in case someone else came in and had just as fun as we did moving the teddies and caused us to redo some of the caches!

10-Apr-07
A novel idea, so had to give it a go. Parked at #5 and started from there. Unfortunatly, due to various locations of the bears walked much further than I needed to. However, got there in the end without meeting another person. Took Vehicular Muscle TB, dropped off Bungy Sheep TB. Thanks for the creativity with this one.

1447. We thought we would do some of the waypoints on our way south and then finish it later but once started we couldn't stop! This was a fun cache and we had a great time doing it. We enjoyed the walk on a lovely afternoon. We did move some of the bears around - that was fun too! Thanks heaps for a great cache idea.
- geocaching bracelet, badge and unactivated TB. + Philippines bracelet, cow and farmer.
Thanks
Iris & Rodney

[Sorry, this one got the best of me Razz I was working in Geraldine today and got rained off the job so ended up coming back to Ashburton, only to find clear(er) weather. Because I skipped lunch I knocked off an hour early and had to fill in the afternoon some how. A new cache was just tooooooo tempting! It did take a bit of searching as my GPS was all over the place, luckily I found all the WPs] took a couple of goes to realise the hints are not in order! I needed about half of them due to dodgy reception[This was a very enjoyable multi, the track is tidier than last time I was along it, except for the area around our now archieved "Pippa's Possum Place". Thanks so much guys for the FTF prize [^], it will be put to good use replacing a stolen FTF coin of mine.
+ Geocaching wristband & Pin
+ Travel Bug "Vehicular Muscle"
+ Travel Bug "Skin" (for dressing up your TB)]
