Logs
This cache is not accessible due to the park being closed after the discovery of kauri dieback disease.
My GPSr started to zero out at the big Kauri tree, but that had to be wrong, so I read some of the logs and got an idea of where I needed to go. I plotted out the most likely places where someone could slide down to the creek and then spotted the cache. TFTC.
600th cache!! Was at Kauri Park with my daughter at a public meeting at the track entrance discussing whether this park should be closed to prevent kauri dieback disease. Afterwards, wandered down to find the cache. My daughter spotted it first as it was out in the open. Rehid it under some natural camo, but not sure that is where it was supposed to go. Don't forget to scrub your shoes when entering and exiting the park!
Found with kiwitrecker1 after a long while scouring the slopes. We didn’t want to leave the area without the find and perserverance eventually paid off. I’ll be looking for a stream to clean my muddy shoes after they landed in the creek at one point. All in all a good adventure, thanks for bringing us here!
Well that took way longer than it should have!! gps jumping around a lot but stopped and looked with new approach.., great hide tftc
Lost trail by the bush here from my previous find so had to take longer way. When arrived here had cache in had quite fast. Nice one. Thank you for bringing me here. Will never visit this place if there is no geocaching. All is well at GZ. TFTC
Once again teamed up with McCuthen Cache Clan for an excursion into the "Land of the Northern Jafa" to see what we could drum up in the way of cache finds. Our more recent attempts to locate caches have been excellent but usually before the first hour was out we were wet to the skin (and remained that way for the remainder of the day. Today we were hoping for better weather, and apart from one heavy shower managed to acheive our goal.
Setting off from Mr McC's at 4am we were working to be home at a reasonable hour (according to our respective wives), and we even managed this, along with locating 62 caches for the day, so all in a success for two southerners. Signed as "MCD" or variation there of.
I will apologise now for the "copy and paste" logs but yes we did have a great day out and enjoyed ourselves and a big thank you to all the cache owners that put in the effort to keep the game (obsession) going for the rest of us.
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Another one ticked off with Cat&Dragons, rain managed to stop right as we got back to the car
It was very muddy down there but we finally found it...
It's actually not a 3.5...
I would rate it as a 1.5

Parked up on the main road and wandered down the track to GZ. Started to make things a bit difficult before having a think about the more easy approach. Cache quickly found after that, cheers.
Went out with Onawe and Benconaze today to collect a few caches on the north shore. We signed the logs BRO to save room.
Final cache of the morning (although technically its 2pm), and then we can all go eat some lunch.
We headed down the hill, me in the lead enjoyiong being able to see the tracks on my phone. As we reached GZ we made this far too difficult for ourselves. Once we repositioned our search based on a clue in a previous log, Mr Beconaze bent over and went "oh, here it is". Isn;t it annoying how easy some become when you know where to look?

GPS here was very poor here so we struggled initially. We had to resort to reading other logs but that was difficult as well as there was poor cellphone coverage. We got a few extra clues and then finally came up with the goods. TFTC
Found with mikefnz. This one had us changing paths a few times but then we eventually found the right path and soon had cache in hand. Tftc
We spent some time looking in totally the wrong place then thankfully Mrs Jag50 decided to follow me as I nearly slid on my bum right past the cache but didn't see it! I think I should start eating more carrots
Well the cache name is Mind your Head, but for me it was more Mind your Feet, as I ended up slipping on the last few 'steps' down to the cache. We spent a lot of time searching in the wrong area, but eventually we broadened our search radius and Mrs Jag50 made the find.
Decided that we still had a few unsolved caches in the area to be got. So teamed up today with Merlot58 and Aiden29 to find caches in the area. Never mind your head. We almost lost our mind as this was something that was testing on two fronts. After Merlot58 almost ended up slipping in to the creek , Mrs Jag50 spotted the cache . Signed in as team JAM
Followed the wrong clue for a while, had a rethink what was meant and soon was rewarded with a simple find. Tftc
First attempt at finding a GeoCache so not very experienced and phone gps wasnt working to well, track a bit wet and slippery, hopefully will find it next time!
Thanks Zork V ! Didn't bump head ! Took a wee bit of searching round wrong places first , then went to the obvious one ..Added a plastic creepy crawly to the stash !
Thanks for a reason to come and explore part of Kauri Park ! Will be back !

Having picked up the caches on the side of the road recently it was time to hunt these two down. Careful not to tread on the somewhat possessive land owners property adjacent to the entrance pathway ( signposts frequently placed regards prosecuting trespassers ) we had a lovely walk to GZ and cache quickly located. TFTC.
I went out with yorkshirekiwi83 this fine Sunday afternoon to do a few hours of caching across on the North Shore. After heading down to GZ we had a good look around the most obvious object, before extending our search and finding the cache nearby. TFTC!
Vistra and I had a couple of hours to get out in the nice weather, so made the most of it and headed to the shore to pick up some that are just across the water.
We had tried this one before ages ago but without much luck, GPS was putting us about 12m out, searched the likely places for it and expanded search, eventually finding it, nice big container. Glad to have clearered it, now to get back up the stairs!!

I had the day off today, supposedly to be catching up on some rest after the hectic weekend, but there was a break in the rain and I fancied a walk so off I went. The walk was lovely, if not a little slippery, such a beautiful reserve. When I got to the area I knew before I looked at my GPS. The cache was quickly in hand and the log signed. Contents a little damp. TFTC #255
Mind your head indeed! Took a little longer than it should have to find this one, the contents were a little on the damp side. Thanks for the cache Zork V
Found this one and some other on our way along the Soldiers Bay and through the Kauri Park and the Ferglen Gardens. We did almost every walking track we could found TFTC!
GPS was bouncing around but cache was fast found checking out the spots close by. TFTC
did not get this one, think we came in from the wrong entrance. As it is across the road from where we are staying on holiday we wil try again
This one is fairly close to home and had caching withdrawl symptoms today so headed out to find it. GZ was pretty wet and GPSr wasn't too consistent. After climbing up and down a bit at GZ I rechecked the Difficulty rating (1.5) and decided I was trying too hard. So I searched a bit wider afield and soon spotted it. Signed log and dropped off a Jeep TB. TFTC
Nice find.... no spiders! Didn't feel like we'd walked in too far, but it was really dark. Really pretty places, TFTC!
Out for a wander with Teotocchi and after a bit of a rummage at the last cache managed a nice quick find here. Heard a few voices along the other trails but didn't run into anyone the whole afternoon. TFTC
Beautiful day for a stroll so why not a lovely Kauri forest. Careful to clean our shoes first we headed off to the bridge. GPS was all over the place so were at first confused about the clue and were over complicating it. Eventually came to the other side and there it was, almost staring at us. tftc
Pleased my cell phone GPS worked even in the deepest darkest part of the forest. Must be more satelites watching the Aucklanders. One TB in one out. Discovered how the cache got its name while replacing [xx(]
Took a little while to find the cache at GZ but eventually got it. Very nice bush very close to town but at the same time you could be 100km from any habitation when you are in there. That's why the North Shore is so great . Dropped TB which is in a race around the world I hope someone pick it up quickly, TFTC
Decided to get some caches and some exercise today, so this looked like a good option. Managed to resist the urge to bush bash and sensiably found the trail head and logically followed it around as it circled in on GZ. Checked the obvious spot but didn't find the cache. Luckily I went for the easy option and found the cache before I overcomplicated things! Right, now to jog back to the car. Cheers for the cache placement and exercise!
Another park that iv'e driven past and never visited, that is till now. It's really lovely in here, I just hope that Kauri disease doesn't get established in here. Easy find at the end of the day.
After reading iShoot's log re getting lost in here, I expected to do some serious bush-bashing and made sure that I reset the trip computer on my 62s...so that I could use Tracback ...if necessary. Fortunately, didn't get lost or need to rely on the GPS to get out. A wilderness rescue operation a year back by LandSAR certainly made me aware of how easy it can be to get lost in the NZ bush (although this is only Kauri Park). Nice walk, cool camo and good hint. TFTC.
Late afternoon walk - gotta get those kids off the computer - and attempted to find this having done a loop and returning to the car. Under a little time pressure and without a good GPS lock I failed to find it. Lovely area will have to make a return trip.
I was on a mission today...that mission was to find my way to this cache and back to where I had parked the car...I am sure there is a path that leads from my car to this cache, but who uses paths when there is a good bit of bush to get lost in? I managed to find the cache without much problem, signing the log was a bit trickier as after trying three pens and two pencils all I could do was dent the waterproof (and possibly ink proof) paper. But it was raining and very wet. Now to find the car...after a lot of struggling through the undergrowth I managed to find a road, a letter box, a clothesline and someones house all in the middle of this bush, but it was not the road I wanted so back into the bush...eventually I swallowed my pride and chose a road that would save me from the wet forest maze. I slowly walked by road back to my car (30 minutes away) and home for a hot shower and a cold beer. Thanks for the adventure Zork!. TC out
Popped in to replace the log book with new waterproof sheet version.

nearly 2 years since we said we'd be back to find it we actually did! Found easily this time. Book is very sodden and cover is growing something!! The girls said to especially thank Mr Zork for his lovely large cache, so there we did
Wow - we thought we were heading into the bowels of the earth. Amazing spot - and a great one to celebrate our 100th cache find. Easily spotted thanks. Uplifted TB
Went back today. Not really for the cache. But I lost my golden bracelet and wanted to give it a go and see if I could find it back. So today I did the whole route from sunday over again (by myself alone
The good news that I did find the cache, only because I rechecked and rechecked for my bracelet, that I found the cache. Good hide. Simple and that makes it so good.

If you find a golden bracelet, please contact it me. It's very precious for me.

Looked everywhere. Certainly for half an hour. We didn't bump our head, but still it was hurting (of not finding the cache )

Put us down for a DNF on this one. Couldn't quite understand the meaning of the hint and our GPSr was erratic under heavy cover today.

Wandered up the track after finding "In Cache Your Head Hurts";
Almost gave up; re-read notes & who set the cache and then found it easily.
LOL, made it way harder than needed!
Nice walk and great to see bush reserves like this.

Nice walk to cache area. Short search and cache located. SL (LOG QUITE DAMP) TFTC
Found the right track walked down the steps, the GPS was all over the place. I had to use the hind and soon the cache was in my hand. I really enjoyd the walk. Looked at my map - there is another cache close by. Quickly sign to log and carried on to the next one. (The log is pretty damp)
No TB in cache

Bold hide but can understand how the log gets wet. Lovely bush which 20 years ago was our backyard - thanks for bringing us back here. PINO TFTC
nice spot of bush for a cache. I suspect there was a easier not so direct route to the cache. log book was very damp and the staple had rusted out. As i was trying to dry it out it started to rain. so with a quick pack up was out of there. TFTC.
Descended the track down past the kauris and continued the loop walk around to the cache. Nice easy find. Ascending the steps back to the car park one of us ducked under a branch across the path and automatically said to the other "Mind Your Head". Aha! So that is the reason for the cache name. Thanks.

Took me a few minutes experimentation to get onto a track that looked like it would lead me to the cache. Mozzies were found to be very friendly, NOT! Logbook was found to be a little damp. TNLN T4TC.
A bit of a frustrating afternoon as the GPS kept losing signal - but we kept on at it and... behold the cache was foudn. (We felt it was maybe too out in the open so tucked it away a bit more securely. t4tc
No worries with the find. But my knees didnt like the walk down all those steps. Nice and easy, straight forward find. Thanks.
Took a little bit of walking around the tracks but finally found it. The log book is still usable, however was a little damp.

As the first one was so nice, we just went to the second one. And found it!!! Or better, John found it!!! He got the cache fever immediately! And we went on...

The fourth cache in NZ together with our couchsurfers. Beautiful place but a lot of work-out afterwards, when we had to walk up the hill to Birkdale road again
When we finish to build our home in our new van, a lot of geocaches can follow.... I dont want to be on the last place of my friends list anymore
TftC
Unfortunately could not find a coin or travel bug in the box.

No problemos once we got to GZ. Had a lot of fun getting there though!! Took every single wrong turn possible and they all seemed to lead up ridiculously steep hills
It was a nice walk though, thanks for bringing me to another new spot!!

Nice Walk to GZ. Can't say I remembered there be so many stairs though. Was really out of breath by the time I got back to the car park. TFTC
My second visit. How I missed it the first time I dont know although my GPS was a lot more co-operative this time. It was + or - 10m the first time. TFTC
very muddy today!! It took us about 2 seconds to find it.Home in time for tea!!! Took TB.

12.20pm. Had to look hard for this one - then there it was in an obvious place. Always enjoy looking at the magnificent Kauri that adorn this park. Thanks for bringing us here yet again Zork. The plastic bag holding the log book was ripped and the logbook a little damp. We replaced the plastic bag.

Well we really stuffed this one up as we were following the name, instructions & hint for the next one on our list but assumed [?] there must have been something around the place that the co-ords led us to. A little fossicking around and we found our treasure . As for those steps, it was a long way to carry our old dog [xx(]. Another amazing walk in suburbia T4TC.
This was PURE LUCK! We had no GPS coverage and {I just wanted to keep going down and down. The title gave it away! TNLN. TFTC.
