Didnt find it, but a beautiful location, so thanks anyway

20-Jul-24
Last message since myself was 18th of Feb 23. Went and looked for it today and had a good thorough look and found nothing. There's been quite a bit of rain up here since Feb last year so perhaps it has washed away.

18-Feb-23
Thought we would hit this one after having so much rain in the area, the falls were impressive.
The 4WD tracks were also quite heavy, it would be some serious work just to get to the second car park.
GPS jumps around a lot at GZ but soon had the soggy cache in hand!

27-Jun-22
With just two days for this visit to Atherton, we were really keen to go for a walk and find this Hide.
We parked, and then made our way along a four-wheel-drive track, until we spotted some very faded pink ribbons which helped us to head up.
We had imagined we would be walking a lot further and quite steeply to the top, when we came upon the rail Trail and decided to explore it anyway.
Although all was quiet, there was a lone soul sitting high up on the rocks just enjoying the waterfall and the view.
We found the hide, wishing we had bikes with us to explore this area further, and then headed back down the hill again.
Thanks bluelens. Log signed, and all safe and well with your cache.

In good company of Pineappleslater and her hubby we went with two very vivid dogs to the place again. After a lot of intensive searching the container was finally found and our names put into the log sheet.
After that we walked to the top of the falls, had a pleasant dip and a great picnic.

19-Feb-22
Found it finally with Walter and Ingrid. We have been here many times but this has been a no find for us. Thanks to TeamMicroRiskant for their helpful hints. We have been looking at the wrong rocks . A little damp inside but all contents are safe in ziplock bags. Placed a trinklet in there for the next finder. Thank you to all who helped me put a smiley for this cache. Beautiful location and great day to spend with nice company.

Virtual TB drop off, they're not physically there. 3 TBs are Zombie Kermit, Travel surf and photinus pyralis.

17-Apr-21
Spent an hour jumping over all the rocks but could not find it. Gave up at 6pm as light fading fast.

15-Apr-21
The cache is back home and waiting for the next finder. Dropped of a TB as well.
Have fun discovering this little secret jewel and don't miss out having a refreshing dip in the top pool.

13-Apr-21
Woohoo that's a very proud found log for several reasons. First of all, it hasn't been found in 4 years, though there're two physical log entries from 2020 in the log book. Second, Mrs TMR is caching alone today and usually she's not the best when it comes to actually finding the caches. This caches is also the closest one to our new home and we already had a brief, unsuccesful search for it after moving here. Of course, the waterfall and little swimming hole on top are part of our Queensland paradise.
The container is quite wet and I will take it home (as the owner is no longer active) to dry and clean and declutter, should be back tomorrow.
It is actually easy to find and knowing what shape, size and colour to look for helps eliminate many hidy-holes.

I didn't find it, but it has been 3 years since it was found, I was short on time, so when I return I will try again.

21-Oct-17
Only a few more days on the Tablelands, so decided to do a circle from Herberton. It might rain, so lets see how we go. Not an easy hike for a couple of oldies - one with asthma, the other with bad knees, but we enjoyed it all the same. Waterfall in good form after the weeks rain.

After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing our GPS settled, we found the little track to the given clue. thanks bluelens for the hide.

15-Oct-17
We can't wait to revisit when the falls are flowing. Geokids loved the railway tracks. TFTC.

21-Sep-17
Travelling around Australia using Geocaching as our Tour Guide.

Staying in Walkamin for a few weeks, today we headed out to find a few smilies on country roads.

We discovered some awesome places thanks to Geocaching, including your cache. Loved the waterfalls here, think the rain this week has sure helped them. Will try and add a pic.

10-Jul-17
We had a short drive this morning from our current digs in Walkamin and hoped to find this cache. We checked out the satellite map carefully to give us an idea of the best approach and after a very nice walk, part of which was along the old Atherton to Herberton railway line, we soon had the cache in hand.

We were delighted to see the falls and the lovely views across the valley. There are various interesting concrete structures near GZ and even a little tin shelter along the lineSurprised. There is also a small memorial plaque to a railway ganger who lost his life near GZ in the floods of 1967Sad

Obviously a lot of 4 wheel driving happens around the area....and some of it looked pretty hairyRazz

Many thanks for showing us this hidden little secret bluelens[^][^][^]

Today we headed south from Atherton. This time we had a more detailed look and came up with the goods, nice ti turn this DNF into a smilie.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

While half of the family went horse riding I took the rest for a couple of unloved caches in this great forest.
Wet but not really raining here.

15-Aug-15
wow, this game never ceases to enthrall me - we get to see such amazing hidden places. Who would have thought that all this beautiful scenery lies off that little unassuming road! This is our second blue lens container - love them! Log book a bit damp - we dried it out a little bit and put it into a new ziplock bag. Quandary - if it is not dry it will just keep damp in the new bag, if you leave it without a ziplock it will get wetter!!

15-Aug-15
Lovely secret spot - it took us a lot of rough climbing and is very good for the fitness levels. Perhaps there is an easier way to get to the railway tracks, but the coordinates took us to the bottom of some steep climbing. Water level was low, but waterfall still beautiful. Discovered this cache with Cherribee.

07-Aug-15
I assume that what I found was the original cache? - it was a “typical bluelens container”
Left a monster dude and a frog. Took jackhammer guy. He would have been handy back when this line was constructed - I suspect those guys had mostly muscle powered tools.
Not much water coming over the falls today - but the sky was clear and the views great.
Once again geocaching has taken me somewhere new and interesting - thanks bluelens for this cache.

07-Aug-15
Geocacher corikra wondered if it was possible to walk here along the railway from “Tunnel of Bygone Dreams”. It is - at the moment.
It’s about 5km, fairly easy walking, no obstacles. It took me nearly two hours, but I wasn’t hurrying and stopped to take photos. I don't know how long the return would take - I continued through to Wongabel Road (only about 2.5km).

Should you do it? Well, there are a few “No Trespassing” signs around...

Also be aware that the Herberton Historic Railway people plan to have a tourist train running from Herberton to Carrington Falls by the end of 2016.
And before that happens there’s going to be a lot of busy people doing restoration work on the line...

well, as per the previous logs we found GZ with no typical bluelens cache to be found, left a new cache and log at GZ to keep this cache alive..

Found in the good company of Fullboar while caching around the Tablelands area. A replacement cache and log was left at GZ as the original cache couldn't be located. Thanks for sharing this location as the waterfall is nice:)

With a bit of knowledge from the locals and a couple of different attempts walking up the 4wd tracks to the railway line, geodog and I finally made it. I think we took a different route to others as I didn't see the yellow sign at all that is in the photo gallery. Where we parked was only a few hundred metres from the cache and then it was just a matter of heading uphill to the railway line and follow it along. Our first attemp we took a walking trail off to the side but after walking up it a bit it didn't seem to be going uphill which is where I suspected we needed to be. Back tracked and got there in the end. It was a great adventure for us. Absolutely beautiful and a great spot for a cache. Saw a mango tree, many butterflies, plenty of other wildlife and read the plaque on the wall at the falls which had me doing a bit of googling afterwards out of curiosity. TFTC. Big Grin

15-May-11
We parked approximately 500m from the cache site. The walk was mostly uphill all the way, until you reached the train track.
A large group of muggles (a four wheel drive group) were leaving as we arrived, which meant we were able to search the GZ unwatched.
The cache was quickly located. Although the lid was tightly secured, the cache conatined a lot of water. The logbook was in a seperate resealable bag and was dry though.
We dried the contents as best we could before returning the cache.
Took nothing and left nothing.

Smile Heavy rain for past few weeks has made the falls magnificent-- cache not too difficult. My first time here after yrs of driving past.. A great place- woof woof.

This must be a very well kept secret. The last visit was almost a year ago. I enjoyed the short hike up to the waterfall, path was a bit overgrown, but still visible.
Thanks for taking me here. I wonder if I could have just followed the train tracks from "Tunnel of Bygonne Dreams" Wink

Second find for the day had four of us donning our hiking gear after we all chickened out of putting the BT50 into 4x4 and tackling the first big washoutRazz. The walking track was in pretty good nick but still had the pulse going for a little while. The waterfall was just trickling over thanks to the dry weather, but was still a great sight. The four of us started scaling the rocks like mountain goats, but it was KC that was on the ball, locating the container quicklyWink. Bumblebee signed the log while SC checked out the stash.
T: Beanie walrus (a new friend for the beanie walrus already in the BT50).
L: Japan summer geocoin.

Great cache with a great AWD on the way. Was drizzling somewhat so we couldn't see much but after hurrying to the cache and back again we found that we had extra company in the form of several healthy looking leeches. Cache is still in great condition.

27-Aug-08
This was a great location, it was all looking good till the batteries died in the GPS 60 mts from GZ. So, okay we had the clue and we worked out what the secret was. However when we got to GZ there were so many possibilities. It didn't help that it was lightly drizzling, making the rocks very hazardous to negotiate. Well, we had walked in 500 mts from the parking area so we were going to give it a good go. After searching for about 10 minutes we came across tell tale camo signs and were rewarded with the find - phew!
Future cachers with a 4WD could get to within 300 mts of GZ, there is space for several vehicles and ample area to turn around.

Decided to start tackling the more difficult terrian caches in the area and thought this one a worthy starting point. We were not disappointed. Found some water in the cache so dried out and raised the cache a little in its hide to get the lid seal above possible water intrusion. Same location just not so deep. Then covered so nothing was showing.
Took Tape Measure
Left Appalachian Geocoin (It wanted to bush walk and this fitted the criteria to perfection.)

Waterfall was very impressive with lovely clear water cascading down from above.

had a hoot playing in the nearby disused quarry

The road is good and most will be able to get within 500m of the cache in a conventional car. There is a sort of quarry area to park, beyond here is 4WD, in particular up one bank (see photo) where I left a bit of the bottom of my ute on the rocks! There is an interesting bit on the 4WD track where you pray there are no trains coming - depends how far you want to go!

The GPS worked well in this area despite cloud, and the cache was found after a few searches. Indeed rocks are your friend. As I was alone I was not game to climb the falls!

TFTC, unique falls, and an exciting drive in.

We really enjoyed everything about this cache. I think because we did not have high expectations and from where we parked the car the area did not look that great but it did have secrets to hide. The secrets revealed to us were a delightful waterfall we could sit close to and a lovely gorge to look down on. My only grizzle is that Bruce was too mean to pay the train fare so I had to walk down to the car. TNLN. Thanks bluelens Big GrinBig Grin

Found by Team Mesazoo from Mesa, Arizona. Took bubbles, left green mini flashlight (torch). Some hike, but a beautiful waterfall. Thanks for the cache!

Originally logged at the internet cafe in Ravenshoe. Finally, this one we found before makira today Smile but they drove farther along the road? trail? before parking. Hubby wanted to drive farther than we did but I had visions of having to call the car rental company for a tow out.... Red Face so I made him park sooner and we walked farther. That beautiful waterfall was worth it though!

Danielc and Danielv found this one after a very pleasant walk up the hill on a beautiful afternoon. The falls were flowing well and the views were magnificent. GPS took us to within a couple of yards of the cache. It is a great shame that Railco no longer runs trains past this historic site.
Took koala: left Batman.
Cheers, and Good Hunting. Dan.

FTF and what a great secret we have discovered. We like hidden gems like this.

We were racing in between rain showers to find this cache and this time we were lucky. Our GPSr was having some challenges with the cloud cover but a bit of patience and slithering about the wet rocks paid dividends.

A quick drop of a Cornish geocoin and a short delay as we picked off the leeches that had climbed onto us while we were slithering around GZ and we were off to avoid the next shower.

No swaps, SL TFTC.
