Blue lagoon! How can you not be immediately interested in a cache claiming knowledge of a secret azure locals waterhole. Some fun log reads..A whole slew of excited geocachers followed. With Any which watercraft. Some people even walked/bushbashed with no water vehicle at all. Then came the time it was impinging upon personal property and so it was relocated to temporary (read semi-permament) locations. Some time passed. Reluctantly the cache was relocated yet again, yet always within a stones throw. To better protect the cache longevity. After all, it once started or continued a series here, that these days slots in quite nicely amongst a gathering of various combinations hidden over a decade later.Amusing to see the original owner balked at the cache replacement, relegating a find to a write note. Or for that matter, a number of geocachers out there that decided prudently to not risk life or limb for an autograph. For me it was an easy fun climb. For sure higher than the usual tree climb. But eminently doable. And you'd only be falling into water. (Albeit probably bracken filled) The entertaining part was mooring my kayak and getting back in. Always a hoot. Thanks so much dahumbug for the hearty laughs at ground zero.
Out on the water with Davinells and we found this cache. wayn0 doesn't normally do water haha Thanks for placing and maintaining Cheers
Out today paddling the beautiful Cooloothin creek with wayn0. This was the third cache we came across and it was quickly spotted. Wayn0 carefully made the climb and soon had our names in the log.I would have like to see the Blue Lagoon but there were a few private property signs around so thought better of it. Thanks for bringing us to this creek though. Find #6102
Sorry to say the tree is not long for this world. A few weeks ago I swung by while doing a maintenance run and placing a new cache out on the creek and saw the termite trail going all the way up to the cache. I climbed up and broke the ant tracks to the container in an attempt to slow down the damage. I got totally covered in the little buggers and then had nowhere to put my hands once theyd been disturbed. I decided to forget about it and hope for the best. But a couple of weeks later I found myself back out on the creek as I met up with JD to gift him our old tree fishing pole. I came prepared with a good dustpan and brush to try removing the whole track this time. Unfortunately we found that every single limb here has got termites from the base to the tip. Theres no saving it. JD disembarked his inflatable yak to inspect my previous effort and discovered that at least they had moved on from their attack around the cache. While up there he added my name to the log so at least theres that. Sorry Bug, I had all good intentions of keeping the tree safe for climbing until you returned. Hopefully it will be!
Whilst on a paddle with ATLH this morning we stopped by here to try and impede the progress of the termites by destroying their tunnels. When I heard that Nat hadn't logged a find on this one yet I climbed on up once again, and after a bit of stretching across a large gap I had the cache in hand once again. Such a great tree to climb. Thanks dahumbug!
Out caching for the day in the Cooribah area prior to an event on the shores of Lake Macdonald. Today I found 9 traditionals and attended one event. This was the main reason I went for a paddle here today, as I needed the DT for a challenge I am working on as of present. Took a bit of back and forth until I realised I wasn't climbing a paperbark and spotted the cache up high. Certainly a challenging little climb, the slippery branches and lack of footholds made for a fun experience, not to mention the termites who had made their little mud tunnels up the tree. Good thing I was wearing gloves as I kept getting them all over my hands. Nearly fell in at least once! Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts/dahumbug
On our semi-regular Tuesday meet up, Duppers suggested a trip up to Cooloothin creek to grab a handful of caches as she had one in particular on her hit list that would get her closer to finishing another loop. With Duppers was in her kayak and me on my trusty SUP we headed up stream first, then headed down stream for the other.I found your cache, Blue Lagoon today. This is my 3061 find.Quickly spotted and Duppers did the climbing. Signed as ShaDup.dahumbug, TFTC, TFTH & TFTSF
Shazzar66 and I spent a couple of lovely hours paddling on Cooloothin Creek, enjoying the peaceful location and looking for caches. Shazzar66 was paddling on her SUP, I had my modular kayak. This cache was my main target for the day. Its the second last D/T that I need for my 5th loop, and also its the second last cache I need for a Challenge Ive been working on for a while that needs Two feet and a Heartbeat.I had read from a previous finder that it was a bit of a tricky climb, so instead of my usual boat shoes, I wore my tree-climbing shoes, which are getting old, but have seen plenty of water, so I wasnt too concerned. At GZ, we spotted the cache, and I made the climb to do the honours. Yay!I signed the cache, ShaDup (always said in a Bronx accent), and made my way carefully back down. Thanks, @CooroyScouts and @dahumbug, for the fun here. Im glad this cache is still in play.
Looked up and saw the goods, started the climb but after a little slip, not swim decided there was more fun along the creek. This can wait for a group outing.
Mr Herbz turn to retrieve this cache. Mrs Herbz was glad she got the last one as it wasn't as high as this one. Mr Herbz is having his knee replaced next week but he was still able to get up there and sign the log. TFTC
An unexpected oldie hiding in Cooloothin creek, amongst a few newer caches to catch. Motored to this one, feeling a bit more confident we weren't going to hit anything submerged to ruin our day. Thanks to cooroy scouts and the bug for keeping this oldie active.
A paddle in this creek, made the rookie mistake of not saving the caches offline before I set off.
Was hoping to get within range closer to the lake.
This one was easy to spot, just having the coordinates was enough.
Thank you bug

Seriously? Up there? From a canoe? I wished I was 60 years younger but somehow managed to get the log out and sign it. The paper was quite damp so my newly acquired water-proof pen instantly became my favourite possession. TFTC dahumbug
We woke to rain this morning but didn’t let that deter us in our plans for a kayak. A lovely quiet creek with millpond water make the reflections of the trees along the banks crystal clear. This one helped me tick off a needed spot on my D/Tgrid. Lucky for us, Mr DisSister isn’t a sissy and managed to reach the cache without drama. Thanks dahumbug
Another trip up to the Sunshine Coast, found 11 traditional today. One of these caches was the main target for today, I needed it for a challenge cache.
Then I also pick up few oldies to.
I had lots of fun today.
Sorry for the generic log.

Thought i’d pick up one or two along the river. This one had a few favourite points for the climb Thanks dahumbug
Well that tested my flexibility and upper body strength.
Not to mention my aversion to heights.
Was in this creek 11 months ago and ran out of daylight to attempt this one and a couple of others.
Yesterday got 2 of the ones I missed last time.
Again ran out of light yesterday, not to mention the mozzies.
Back today and finished off what I started

This cache was a little harder to find I couldn't find it on the land until TGG said I see it in the tree.... over the water. I was redirected & found the climb a little difficult and TGG swooped in & straddled up the tree like a green Gecko ... she signed the log & catastrophe, her glasses fell off & speared into the murky water (blop, blop, blop) they sank before I could reach out with the paddle. Now I have the power to describe the world and and TGG will have to accept it as gospel.
Muggle65 and l continued our paddle and soon found ourselves at GZ. Seeing as l am the brave one, up l went. Real shame when my glasses went flying into the water. Now l have to trust everything M65 says. Hmmmm. Luckily l had signed the log before my glasses sank to the bottom. Great cache. Thank you so much
This afternoon’s paddle along this creek was wonderful. Saw a few beautiful blue kingfishers and heard lots of other birds.
We spotted this cache and Mrs W did the honours in retrieving the cache and signing the log.
Thank you for the cache and adding more fun to our paddle this afternoon.

Maiden voyage of the BAT kayak and after a few teething problems, we are powering on to these caches. A most enjoyable morning with good friends and clear skies.

The plan today was to grab some paddle caches with georode and esmiley. I arrived at the parking coordinates to find no one here, ok so I’m a little early but it is 6.45. then as one car arrives a whole more turned up, eleven people turned up to what I thought was just a small and quick paddle. Turned out to be a fun and eventful morning, we got 16 paddle caches and a couple of extras along the way. There was no problem with any of these caches and all were in good order.
Thanks to the CO’s who put these out there, it was a great day on the water, a lot of chats and a good group of people, thank you.

Initially this paddle was planned b myself and E-Smiley and myself as a replacement for the cancelled event and more and more kayaking cachers were invited. So it turned out to be a bigger social paddle with a lot of fun and good talks.
Thanks for bringing me here and having a good time on the water.

Another fabulous day of water caching. Our group of five from yesterday's Maroochy River epic is now a good dozen. Target caches today are along two creeks: Cooloothin Creek to Lake Cootharaba, and Cooroibah Creek to Lake Cooroibah.
Log signed and cache replaced as found on January 16, 2021. TFTC, cooroy scouts

Just because an event was cancelled, doesn't mean we cancel our weekend. Now what can we do. Today was a kayaking day. Set off early to do 2 creeks.

Second day on the lovely Sunshine Coast and met up with the 16/1/21 Paddlers, dahumbug, georode, chamad, E_Smiley, Jwill607, RoddyC, hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and patrol14.
Had a most enjoyable time on the water, nice and relaxing in the first quaint little Cooloothin Creek then packed up and moved to the bigger Cooroibah Creek.
All hides were great and found reasonably quickly in a big team effort today.

Was happy to have remembered rope to tie off my kayak before attempting this climb. A bit of a jump and pulling myself up and the cache was soon in hand. TFTC!
I am not logging a DNF on this cache. We spotted the caache but were climb high enough to kadd our names to the log. Old age, lack of flexibility, lack of strenght, recovering from injury are all valid reasons for this. Imagine my disappointment when I found out this cache has now been made much more difficult to reach than in the past.
*Time to be a leader, a responsible cache owner, a thoughtful person regarding humanity.
Groundspeak or Geocaching HQ have been slow to be on the front foot regarding this matter so its left for us cachers to lead the way*
**"With discussions here about whether or not or it is okay to ignore closures etc to go caching, please let me offer some perspective.
Given the likely death toll from COVID-19 in the USA will be in 6 figures at least (that’s tens of thousands) and more likely in 7 (that’s millions) as well as in 8 figures worldwide (that’s tens of millions), not following restrictions designed to save lives is industrial grade selfish.
So our streaks may have to end.
And our physical caching may have to stop.
Hopefully not too many of our lives will end but some most definitely will. And I am certain around the world some of our caching family have already died.
COVID19 hangs around on surfaces so you don’t even have to physically be in the presence of someone who is positive. Just touching a surface (cache?) they have touched recently and then touching your face will do it.
I really really hope that a “Hail Mary” comes through and we get a vaccine in less than the expected 18 months. But until it is actually here being given to large numbers we are all at risk. And while older people are clearly more at risk young ones are dying too.
As I am sure some of you are wondering about my qualifications to offer this view, please check out my background. Not too hard if you have Google or another search engine. “Dr Bill Griggs” should do it.
Please stay as safe as you can people.
And please follow the rules designed to keep you and all of us safe.**
Cheers to Bill, aka Brad&Janet for the information.
Yours in Caching,
Corey aka dahumbug

Haha yeah I did a couple of other tree climbs on this creek today but this was the second one I figured my PA could do. What a fabulous creek... if only the mozzies would hang out somewhere else! It was actually a lovely paddle, the first part was sheltered and the mozzies incessant but as we made our way along the breeze picked up and helped keep them away and made it a little cooler and pleasant. What a top spot. Thanks for the cache, cooroy scouts and dahumbug!
After a big morning paddling around Lake MacDonald with a large group, I talked Caro and Brother Colin into another paddle on this little creek in the arvo.
A quick find and onto the next one.
Thanks for the cache.

We've had inflatable kayak for years and never used it as I have done other water caches by myself in my single kayak, but Mrs bushedtwo wanted to have a go so the dust was brushed off it and here we are. Previous logs had us looking higher than we normally would and yes there it is. My Health and Safety Officer daughter in law would suggest an old fella like me should not be doing things like this, but luckily she is not with us, so the log is signed. Thanks cooroy scouts and dahumbug. A favourite for the view from the top.
I don't think I'm a sissy, but a combination of short reach and inadequate upper body strength meant that I couldn't grab this one.
I knew the words “dahumbug” and “T4.5” meant that this would be as high up a tree as humanly possible. And I wasn’t disappointed. At least it was easy to spot unlike the challenge. I went up before I had time to talk myself out of it. I needed this today for the 8 Days a Week Challenge. Now just need to get a T5 on Friday.
Thanks for the cache dahumbug. This was find #3884. Please discover my trackable: MMGJ6B.

Thanks ro the CO for a lend of a yak we were able to do this series along the creek. A lovely morning on the Sunny Coast and still creek waters.
Knowing what the COs tree climbs can be we did wonder what was in store for us. At GZ the hide was soon spotted and sized up. No issues making the climb but not a cupcake either. Interesting bit of history on the lagoon. Log signed and on to the next adventure. A favourite from us.

With reports that the creeks of the Sunny Coast had been recently sprouting dozens of new caches, a plan was hatched to paddle Eenie and Cooloothin Creeks with Slow Puncture to see what we could find.
After changing Creeks and launching at the handy ramp, we were on our way down Cooloothin, making observations about how much murkier the water seemed here and the relative absence of fish and bird life compared to Eenie Ck. All containers were located and signed, with varying degrees of gymnastic ability required to gain access to each of the fantastic plastic tubes.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache **cooroy scouts**.

Ran into Slow Puncture, Que Sera, Just a Trifle and JACS Team on Cooloothin creek and I managed to be a tag along... this was one of 2 caches I visited I could put a smiley on as all the others were owned by me LOL.... a fun morning paddle in a beautiful area..TFTC dahumbug! Fave point awarded..
Came across this relocated cache whilst doing the new series. Um, yup that’s an interesting location! Fortunately for me we have a super climber in the crew today and she made short work of it. I would have attempted if on my own but it would most definitely not looked as carefree as it was done this morning.

Sunday. This cache was targeted today by our small group of 4 ladies out for a day of paddlin’. As this cache has been recently relocated and reading that it wasn’t for “sissies” , when we saw the cache, we thought we could manage this climb (no sissies in our group today ). A quick scramble up and cache log was signed with all of our names. Got a bit windy up there though, so the names might be a bit scratchy! Thank you Humbug for relocating the cache to this new location, it was collected on our kayaking trip whilst collecting some newly placed caches along this creek.
This was the 4th of 9 caches found on today's trip.
Thanks ***dahumbug***, for showing us this place.

Out placing some nearby caches. Decided to go for the Blue Lagoon while drifting by... saw a guy in the bush nearby... turns out he is the owner of the property. He is aware of the cache but doesn't want people trespassing. Signs up around the property say private property.
This was one of the main caches we were chasing this weekend. It hadn't had any love in a while so we were determined to change that.
Seeing as there was only one yak between the three ladies, wombles, 1MinnieMoo and myself, we had to take turns getting to our destination.
I went first. It didn't take long to arrive close to GZ. A hop, skip and a jump through the lomandra and I had eyes on the beasty. Unfortunately it has seen better days. I took the whole thing back to the other two to see if we could fix it up any. A new log was added to a sistema and then placed inside the old tin. Hopefully this will keep it going for a while longer.
After that 1MM paddled the cache back and then wombles went for a visit also.
Thanks for the cache cooroy scouts and dahumbug

After a night at Boreen point we headed for here, after a few stops along the way for coffee and caches.
Once we arrived, we decided it was better to approach by water then by land. Luckily Nyssaflutterby had her yak with her.
So we took turns going to the cache. I went last and it wasn't till I was half way there that it occurred to me that not only was this the first time I'd been on my own kayaking but also the first time I didn't have a life jacket on!
I was pleased to find Nyssa's yak easy to control, so it was just the yak I had previously that made it harder.
I'd not read all the logs properly so I was surprised to pass a house!
It's a shame the water is so gross here, but the lake wasn't much nicer yesterday either.

Heading here we had an image in our mind of the Blue Lagoon, however when we arrived it wasn't quite what we pictured. This changed our outlook on how we might approach all doing this cache. With the water looking like it might be harbouring a bog-monster, we made a very definite decision not to swim the distance required. Thankfully NyssaFlutterby had brought her yak on our holiday, so we decided to each paddle there and back. Nyssa went first, and quickly disappeared out of sight (thankfully from paddling past viewing point, not from being swallowed up by a bunyip!). While she was off, we looked around at the scenery and imagined what it would have been like had the water been clean and blue. This would have been quite a pretty spot. Unfortunately tho the water was not blue but a very dirty brown, and the smell permeating the air from the nearby bin did nothing to help recreate this idyllic setting. I did have to laugh however at the pool safety gate installed at the landing here when everywhere else was completely open access!
Soon Nyssa was back, but with the contents of the cache, and stories that the ammo can was pretty much beyond saving. A plan was made to use a spare logbook I had and a container she had to put inside the remaining bits of ammo can shell to keep the cache going at least until the CO could rectify it, and it was my turn to head back downstream to return the items to their hide. The paddle didn't take long, but I swear I thought I was going to end up in the rather caroby drink (I say carob because it was a poor substitute for chocolate ) as I landed and went to exit the yak, it was only sheer luck that somehow stopped it from tipping right over. Readjusting my landing I made a much better effort on the second attempt then had to bush bash through the evil lomandra to GZ. A quick replacement and I was back in the yak without incident and before I knew it I was back at base and it was Wombles' turn. She was up and back like lightening and we were all happy to have achieved what we had set out for here today.
Gotta say, in my younger years I remember a movie called Blue Lagoon, but as was said out there, today's area more closer resembled that of Creature from the Black Lagoon instead.
Unloved claimed and maintenance done, I think we achieved well, and in our minds (and maybe also using photoshop on the photos) we could definitely see how glorious this would be if the water was flushed through.
Thanks for the cache dahumbug.

I was out today with Dora the Explorer with a view to finding some particular caches and picking up others along the way. When discussing how this cache should be approached, several options were considered. We settled on the option of walking along the creek and using a blow up kayak to get to the other side however we did not see the entrance that we wanted and walked in via another entrance.
This was a nice casual stroll until a house came in to sight. We were on the other side of the river. Rather then going back, we decided to continue on past the house in stealth mode.
We made it to GZ without being spotted and soon enough Dora the Explorer uttered those words, "I've Found It".
The log was signed by us and returned to the cache and the cache replaced exactly as found.
Other then the outer container starting to rust a little, all is good with this cache.
Find #674.

CDAH55 needed one more cache for the 2 feet and a heart beat challenge. He could either get this one, close to home or travel over 250km in the other direction. Reading the logs made this cache sound interesting.
Many years ago I used to be in the Army. You can take the girl out of the Army, but you can't take the Army out of the girl. I left it up to CD to do a recci as he is local to this area. Several options were considered. I bought along a blow up toy and a change of clothes and under wear. I remember the motto of the boy scouts "always be prepared", I was never a boy scout but my brother was.
It ended up being a big anti climax. The cache was easily found. Here is a photo of us approaching the cache. The lagoon is no longer blue. Maybe this cache should be renamed "the brown bog".

Decided to tackle this cache in the motor boat as it was getting late. The bush was thick but after sweeping the area the cache was soon discovered!

After a big day of sailing, I was quite eager to take the motor boat to find this cache. Very surprised to find this type of container as it wasn't detailed as thorough in the listing. Nevertheless who doesn't love an ammo can in the middle of a swamp.
Catching up on some logs from the last week.
Last day of the Cachup for Newbies 2016 event, and I decided to tag along with Liz and Bruce, Brother Colin and wassap for some caches around Boreen Point.
Brother Colin was determined to get to this one, so we managed to get as close as we could to the GZ then went for a short swim, which was surprisingly refreshing. A little bit of searching and Colin came up with the goods.

Up this way for Xmas and New Year ... and to attend the week-end event.
Today, I teamed up Sphir3, Liz&Bruce and Wassup and headed out to find a few caches out towards Boreen Point.
A little earlier the three cars headed their separate ways so it was just Sphir3 and I.
Earlier in the day we tried working out an approach to this one without getting wet or cutting trought private property, no luck.
With just the two of us we headed back and soon found the track on the south side of the creek and swam across to GZ once opposite it. A bit of searching before finding the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

Out for a caching day with Fangsoki, and this was next on our hitlist. After a lovely little drive in, we launched SS.Fangsoki - the two-seater kayak. Sitting in the front I could hear the literal humming of the kayak across the slightly rippling but otherwise totally calm water. A few birds calling, shade from the trees - there really isn't any better place to be. The paddle in was uneventful, and didn't take too long at all, and we were soon searching for a place to hit land. A kindly placed tree along the water's edge jutting out became the place to gingerly disembark. After the hordes of teenagers loudly blasted past us in canoes and kayaks of their own - disturbing the peace - then quite resettled around us. We were not too far from GZ, but the bush isn't overly inviting right here, no path, so bashed in to the spot where a great container was tethered. Inside was perfectly dry and all was great condition.
Thanks for placing this cache, cooroy scouts, and everyone else. Found in good condition.

This one had been on my radar for many years. Alas, it seems it went missing not long after I started caching.
I wanted this one due to its age - so Mr Pprime and I pulled up with the 2 seater kayak to tackle the beast.
The boat option worked very well. We motored up the creek toward GZ and soon came across some not very welcoming signs. Thankfully, we didn't want to go near the signs.
We found a good area to pull up. Then a hoard of approximately 20 people on various boats turned up. Hmm muggled out here? We waited till they abated and started the hunt. Pprime soon found the beast - all be it a little rusted. We signed the log and returned it to its home.
Back to the boat.. and away we went. The 20 people were now at our starting point. Thankfully, there was just enough room at the ramp for us to disembark.
A nice area to visit. Very happy to have gotten this cache. Apart from the caches on Mt Beerwah, there are no active Sunshine Coast caches for me to get published before 2010.
Thanks to Parko's for taking the time to replace the cache.. and to dahumbug for the ongoing maintenance.... and TFTC csnmasn

Out and about with thehairbear and holster for a few caches today and after grabbing a few other caches in the area we soon approached this one.
Having missed the boat with Captain Scouts and a few others while camping nearby years ago we thought it was time to check it out.
We had a great adventure getting to GZ and after letting the GPS settle the cache was soon in hand. The lagoon isn't blue at the moment but the picture is still good. Hopefully one day it'll change back.
Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

We are camping at Boreen Point and not sure how long it would take in the kayak across Lake Cootharaba, opted for the motorised dinghy to check out this area.
Due to a slight navigation error, we travelled down Noosa River for about 20 minutes thinking where is this creek?? until another map check revealed that Cooloothin creek comes straight off the lake not the river. Big u-turn and back to the lake - ignoring the channel markers this time, took a hard left and then into Cooloothin creek. Very pretty narrow creek with glassy water. Not far along we came across a myriad of Private property/No entry signs with the final one near a house with: "Blue Lagoon closed - No entry".
Not to be disheartened, we backed up along the creek and found a landing spot that involved walked along a low overhanging mangrove branch to the creek bank. J was sure that this land was state forest, not private property and only 20m or so to gz.
The walk in was horrendous - ankle deep swamp with bladey lomandra and all sorts of other spiky things to wade through. It was hard to find any sort of path, so just had to charge through - lucky I have my reef walkers on, at least they protected my feet. J was not so lucky in bare feet and got some nasty cuts. I found the lagoon which was full of water lillies - looked pretty but the sun was getting lower and reflecting off the surface, so I could not tell if it was blue or not.
Trying to find a tree that matched the description was difficult but I eventually stumbled upon some cable that could have been part of an old fence. I was about too dismiss it as I thought the cache was going to be high off the ground, but then I pulled a bit more and there was an ammo box attached.
Tried to do the signing formalities quickly as obviously the mozzies here had not been fed in a while and were getting more and more ferocious and swarming in vast clouds.

This one had me a bit worried today. Has there always been a house here? I felt a bit uncomfortable walking along what is obviously a driveway and then passing so close to the house.
Sadly the lagoon is not what it used to be. Skanky swamp hole would be more appropriate now, but it is still a pretty area.
The hint helped narrow down GZ. Only so many places to check now.

Up on the coast for the day picking up some higher terrain caches. Barb had done this one and said I needed it for another challenge.
Pulled up at parking spot and set off. Finally closed in on GZ and while there was some bounce initially finally found ground zero. Still took some time to find what I need to reel it in.

After chatting to Team Benders at the Caching in Space event we teamed up with BarbBowman to grab some caches the following day.
This one was first on the list!!
Someone said you can't walk to this cache..... Lol
I never got my feet wet once!
We got to meet a lovely lady that lives beside the lagoons and have a chat with her and her puppy dogs.
There were areas along our path that had been affected by bush fire and our new friend told us that her neighbours back burning had skipped it's containment lines and jumped the creek!
The blue lake is now brown and not very inviting looking, but there where some lovely water flowers growing on the far side. The creek was a green colour and I almost wanted to go for a swim after our long walk! But then, I wouldn't be able to continue caching until I dried out again!!
Thanks Dahumbug for bringing this cache online much sooner than you had anticipated! We all really appreciate it!

Out with Barbbowman and Angela & Dave, we made our way into this cache.
I had made the journey into this cache last year but did not log as there was no cache to find.
The original cache had washed away in the floods along with the colour of the blue lagoon which is now a brown colour and the Coolathin creek was a green colour.
There was some lovely lillies in flower on the other side of the lagoon.
Parts of this area had been subject to a bushfire because the neighbour was burning off.
We found the cache and added our names to the log. I added a tiny toy car.
Great to add another to my T4.5 challenge.

I wanted to fix this cache up before the weekend so I talked PapaSmurf12 into coming up the creek with me today while I attached a suitable tether to the ammo tin I placed here the other day. After I had visited here the other day I noticed the Parkos were also kind enough to share some love for this cache as well...on the same day as me. There must of been some strong aura on this cache to attract people at the same time. And if I knew they placed a container, I could of found theres, and saved myself some more adventure.
After justifying my adjusted cache placement to PapaSmurf, I soon set about putting a good tether on the ammo tin. It is totally my intention to move the cache back to where it originally was, but that is not suitable for now. I also retrieved the container that the Parkos placed and applaud them for making to such a great spot and trying to resuscitate the cache as well.
Hope to see some others come here as well. The cache is alive and well.

Headed up the creek today with dahumbug on his maintenance trip. After locating the new cache and it's location I left it to dahumbug to do his maintenance job, and I had a bit of a walk around to take in what a nice little spot this is. After checking the original GZ you can see why there is a need for a new location for the moment.

This cache first got my attention when I went for a large walk to the very nearby Cooroibah NP cache. It then sprung up again when a certain challenge cache listed it as a qualifying cache. After reading the previous logs, it was definitely apparent that the cache was missing and needed some love and attention to resuscitate this particular cache.
After recently adopting some other Cooroy Scout caches, the procedure to ask if I could also adopt this one and replace the cache was second nature now...as this is what was needed. As still new to this great hobby, I can not believe that these great caches sit laying and unloved for so long, and very lucky not to be archived by the looks of it.
After getting the approval to adopt this cache a couple days before hand, I could not wait and go and visit this gem. From reading the previous logs, it looks like every visited had got there by water, but there is a walk attribute attached to this cache... So I thought to see about that.
I found a little boat ramp that is adjacent to a great little pontoon to jump and swim in the creek. This place was abuzz with activity with kids swimming and people putting motor boats in... But I could see where I had to go. I set about my walk, first idling past an open gate/fence which is adjacent to the boat ramp. A few hundred metres south I found a suitable spot to cross a small deep creek, and I made my way towards GZ, past all the smoke and embers that were burning out from a very recent controlled burn. This area is all National Park grounds just for interest sake.
I came upon a tree with timber ladder treads nailed into a tree, and it also had a rope swing attached, and looks like a great place to visit for a swim, but that is for another day. The road ahead was long and I knew I was going to get real close to GZ. About 60 metres close. I struck a creek about 15-20 metres wide...but that wasn't stopping me. I came prepared, as all good Boy Scouts should. I had my ammo tin, so I packed my phone, GPSr , logbook, and pen, and tied some rope to me and the ammo tin and swam for it. Once I got to the other , it was only 30 something metres to GZ.
I idled up to GZ and saw that the whole area was burnt out. You could also see evidence of some muggle drinking, and wonder whether their campfire went astray, or whether embers from a local controlled burn carried their way here.Either way, there was no sign of a cache, and the immediate area was too open for a cache to be placed, especially with a tether to secure the caches long term life.
I found a suitable new hide about 40 metres from original GZ, on the edge of the blackened soil, and somewhere that will be out of sight to muggles. This will be a temporary location until the area generates new vegetation and the cache can be moved back closer to where the CO intended it to be. Not happy completely with my second hand rope tether of the day, I knew I would disable the cache and promptly repair for others to find it.
I swam back over the creek with my valuables secure, and knew I would be back within the week.
It appears before this date that this cache had not had a log signed onsite for 3 years and 7 months. Hopefully this cache has been resuscitated for others to come and enjoy.

Was chatting to cooroy scouts during the week about visiting the area this weekend and they asked us to replace this cache.
We pulled up and found a great spot to put the kayak in and only a 400m paddle to go with it
Arrived at the coordinates and seen a fire has been through here recently
Found a paperbark tree around 10m away so hid a container with a new log book in there. Have added the coordinates.
A great area to explore, thanks cooroy scouts for bringing us here!

Have gone for a afternoon walk and swim to try and find this fellow. It definitely is missing and the paperbark tree where it could of been has fallen over. A controlled burn or non controlled burn has been right through the area. At GZ now it is all open and you can tell muggles have camped and had a good time here.
Need to replace cache , and will be a slight change of position.
I thought I might be able to find this one for Fangsokis 2 Feet and a Heartbeat Challenge Cache, but no so luck and I have had my eye on it since that cache was published. Oh well.

Need to replace cache , and will be a slight change of position.
I thought I might be able to find this one for Fangsokis 2 Feet and a Heartbeat Challenge Cache, but no so luck and I have had my eye on it since that cache was published. Oh well.
Cheers.

Went for a run in the tinny with a mate got over the sand bank, went in lovely lagoon but the cache is not there needs attention, could the next looker bring a new box and log? Great spot

No luck this morning I guess an easy cache to find after 2.5 years was too much to wish for.
But what a lovely location!
We canoed in, and couldn't see the creek mouth until about 300m away. Very well hidden!
Thanks for the fun anyhow!

Logging this as a find even though we didn't. Hired a double kayak from Boreen Pt and had a stunning paddle first thing in the morning. White Heron's along the shore and an Osprey in the air. Magic. Spent quite a while at GZ. One stump crumbled and fell to the ground at my first touch. The other more likely stump is pictured. Magical lagoon. The reflections were inredible. It would be good if the cache was replaced. Well worth the visit.

Thanks for this cache. We put the GPS in a plastic bag, hired kayaks at Boreen point, and paddled off looking for somewhere to explore. This cache showed up as the nearest unfound so off we went. A hour of paddling later, we pulled up on the bank and went in search of the cache. After a bit of aimless wandering, the GPS settled down and took us straight to cache. The log is still dry and in good condition (and the FTF pin is still there). All that was left now was to paddle back to Boreen Point (against the wind [xx(]). Thanks for the adventure and thanks for the cache.
