I like these kind of caches. You get a bit of history, I had a lovely picturesque spot to work out the coordinates and the cache was located exactly where I had planned to go. Nice hide.
I solve this on my 1st visit to Southland after I started caching (?2yrs ago)- but hadn't made the time to find it before today.
A lovely walkway; no idea who this Roger Sutton was.
Cache container was squashed and no longer round; managed to unscrew the lid and retieve the contents.
The log was slightly damp; I returned it to the plastic bag and sealed it, should be OK now.
TFTC.

A lesson on Invercargill history and a lesson on how to use our GPS!! Hadn't had to use this function before, took a while to work out. VERY windy, but managed to not lose any monstas in the drink
We enjoyed this one, some good info on the area and a top walk. Picked up our first geocoin. We'll move it on to a special spot soon.TFTC
Dropped off Geocoin

TFTC our first multicache. Had fun but no trackable here as listed on the page Thanks anyway!
Did this with my mother on mothers day. Nice day for a walk. Got the coordinates but they were out by a bit and in the water. Looked at the hint which helped. Tftc
1020hrs was out walking with mother and was thinking that I needed to sort out the co-ordinates for this cache. I remembered the hint and was walking pass one and thought I would have a quick look and hey presto there it was. Thanks for the cache pipedream. I love your caches!
@1121 What a wonderful walkway and area to visit. I had some most enjoyable company with me when I completed this, thanks "dreamer".
A unique and very clever cache container.
Thanks pipedream, for this and for your hospitality.

Worked out the puzzel a couple of days ago and today had the oppertunity to get it. Very impressed with the cache placement.
Actually found this cache in June 2008,but not logged. Passing today,so signed again and logged.Always a good walk.TFTC
Wonderful view. Took top, added koala. Geocoin plastic case there, but gc missing.
Worked out co-ordinates easy and off we went. The wind came up a gail which made it very challenging but fun
very cool walk, a few muggles and swapped a 10c nz coin for a pirates coin, tftc
Searching this cache I'd a nice and interesting walk. The cache itself was easily found.
In: TB "Trabbischlüssel" ( engl. "Keys of a Trabbi"). The Trabi what is short for "Trabant" was a label for cars in the days of the German Democratic Republic. Actually it doesn't exist anymore - like the Railway of this cache.
Out: nothing

A great little multi. Completed the recovery in light rain. Great boardwalk around the estuary. TFTC
Found it on cold windy night. co-ordinates put me in estuary but clue helped. My 50th find!!!
Cold, wet day and my pen froze. Must have transferred some no's wrongly as coord out but found cache from description. TFTC.
A quick re-visit to drop off the GC I brought back from Te Anau last weekend. The mish to visit scenic spots.
This was my favourite cache find yet. The estuary is very enjoyable by bike. Went along with a no-longer-muggle friend!
Cool multi and easy find, enjoyed with hubby and daughter. Nice walk around the loop. TFTC.
Answers all stacked up, although was quite a walk....luckily had a few hours to fill between flights.
Thanks
Thanks
I found this one, but only by using the hint.
My puzzle answers took me WAY off course and was pointing at a spot in the middle of the lagoon!

First find of the day on a blusteringly windy day! Difficult to walk at times but we got there. Had fun with trying to find the answers to the questions and hold the paper in the wind. TFTC
Started this one the last time I was in Invercargill but due to time had to leave this multi. this was 1st on my to do list on this trip south. TFTC
Nice loop walk - hadn't been around there yet. Took toy action man and left polished paua piece. Thanks.
found without any difficulty. was quite windy and started raining on the return journey. TFTC.
Found with Imgettingannoyed during our 3 n half week NZ mega cache mission!!
Great Multi. Thanks for giving us an excuse to explore this area. I had lived here for a few months a couple years back and not really had a proper look at this place.

Came back to cache to drop off "Fern the Pukeko" Which we pcked up frop the Huka Falls at Taupo.
Stopped off and got this one while taking the kids on a bike ride. Have known where this was for about 2 months but didn't get around to it until now, although original coordinates had me in the middle of the estuary but no macro in there.

Last of the day… Man you got to like the deep south… still enough light to make the find at 10:00PM. Thanks for the history lesson and an enjoyable late evening walk along the boardwalk.

Really nice walk to find the cache, great use of the information boards for working out the co-ordinates. The whole family really enjoyed this one. Thanks.
Fascinating information at the start point. This was a very blustery walk and we appreciated all the hard work that had gone into making the path. Saw a number of black swans - some with cygnets!
Thanks Jacqueline and Peter #2203

Found by the Chefs Team on one of Grandads torture walks, It was very windy today, it will be nice when the park is finished, but will not get to see this until our next visit to NZ and Invercargill.

Enjoyed walk, even though completed with a cold wind!

Found it! As below. GPS (Magellan Pioneer) actually did start working today, but never locked onto its satellites the whole trip so it was a waste. Used some initiative and guessed the missing number from Stead Street question because it fit when I compared the end result with other coordinates from around the area. Then I tapped these into Google Maps and saw a promising overview of the cache area. Grabbed the clue, as I'd need it without a GPS. Biked down to old wharf and confirmed the answer to the question ... had a glance around, saw a probable hiding place and found cache at 6pm. Phew. Thanks for the geocache! Hope my methods explained don't sound too shortcut-ty though.
Got as far as answering all questions except the Stead Street bride one. Being pressed for time (it was night and I had a 50 min bike ride ahead of me) I thought I could find this info on the Internet: I was wrong. Was going to guess possible numbers and make their corresponding waypoints, then try convert them into UTM (the GPS does not allow modern measurements of lat and longitude). This is because it would save making two cycle trips to the area. But things got worse. Only in Southland for a few days and didn't expect to go geocaching but was given an old GPS by my uncle, which only just worked to find 'Detention' but failed the next day. And the next day. It must have finally died as it won't find any satellite activity whatsoever.
Came back to pick up freezer mouse to take him to a new location. The first time we came to this cache we didn't know what geocaching was all about, we have a better understanding now so decided to help this little mouse out.
our first cache found although the wrong co-ordinates from Theresa didnt help. lol
Found under profile Theresa01 but have since changed profile name so re logging find.
Our first cache find, although I did write down a wrong clue which was interesting but found it all the same. Nice walk on a very nice day. Didn't swap anything.
Did this one in that awful southerly buster. What a challenge! There was one area I was not able to cross because of the wind, but it was spectacular watching the water patterns as the wind gusts dumped themselves at those poor black swans. TFTC. Dropped off Freezer Mouse #1 to continue his journey.
Now have my own log in but was out hunting with Annie and PB. Lovely walkway with lots of wildlife!
Well - PB was the expert at finding the information for this one for sure!!!! Annie & Little Sis had no show! We did a bit of a shorter walk to the final thanks to Little Sis's local knowledge, and made a quick find. Had to wait for a few different sets of muggles to pass by to complete our mission. TNLN TFTC and for the introduction to this area of town!
Good puzzle and interesting walk though the estuary has obviously seen better days.

A gorgeous Easter Sunday! What a better way to spend it than a leisurely bike ride with the kids. Lots of muggles around but we were ultra careful! No swaps!
Beautiful walkway. Although it was a very hot day, we loved every step of this walk. Thanks!
Our GPS put us in the middle of the water, didn't think we had to go for a swim so we used the clue and found easily.
Took Westpac Rescue helicopter wristband, left a bouncy ball.

One of the many caches we did during our holiday in New Zealand. Many interesting places seen thanks to all the caches. This site however needs some cleaning.

Great cache. The walk is a real asset to the city. Had often walked the other end of the track (near the "Dentention" cache when I lived in Invercargill but this part hadn't been completed then) used local knowledge to take the short cut (had solved the co-ords 2 months ago on a previous visit but lacked the time to complete the cache) though I ended up walking the entire loop with the family in the afternoon. TFTC!!
Had to take my dad out to try his new toy - a GPS. Was a good warm morning when we did this just after 9am....So what happened to the good weather for christmas???

This was the 7th and last one for today. That makes 15 find and 1 DNF for these two afternoons of caching.
I must have written down a wrong number for F as my GPS put me 88m away from the cache. Using the clue and as I had just had dinner at The Lone Star Restaurant where their meals are monsterous I had to take a short cut and not
walk the track. There were no muggles around but boy the sandflies were numerous and were out for dinner.
TNLNSL.
Cheers for the cache.

Great wee cache, Geo the Dog enjoyed the short walk, to the cache wee drove so far then jumped the ditch on to the track.
Many Thanks Bitsprayer

A very pleasant evening walk from my Motel in town (about 2.5 hours there and back. This is going to be a really nice facility when its all cleaned up. TFTC
I recall coming to waypoint 1 to find another cache about two years ago. On a flying visit to Invercargill so didn't really have time to walk the loop. Suspected there might be a closer access point and sure enough, there was. Really interesting walk out over the water.
Nice walk on a sunny winters day. Lots of other people about so some stealth required but not to hard. GPS co-ords spot on. took measure tape left large marble.
It didn't take long to find the required information. It was raining, so I used at shortcut, and found the cache quite easily. The rain stopped, so I continued around the loop. The area has changed considerably since last time I visited, many years ago. It's great to see the area being put to good use. Cheers, Donovan.
Completed this cache after breakfast and before picking brother up from plane. Lucky the cache was a quick find and the walk no longer as we had a tight schedule to keep. TNLN.
Very windy day. Cycling over the boardwalk was interesting.
All the smooth surface has been ripped off the track by the recent winds and high tides. The recent load of soil dumped by the cahce has not buried it.

Nice easy find. TFTC pipedream - I've walked this area a few times in the past but hadn't realised the loop track had been completed already. Good to see it being well used.
