Pulled into Etty Bay for two things…..cassowaries and caches.
No problem with the nearby Earthcache but we didn’t spot this cache, even after speaking with a previous finder.
No luck spotting a cassowary either
Beautiful bay though so we’ll revisit one day.

DNF Didn't really want to be digging around in wet leaf matter to potentially find this. Either I am have a kid look or it's not there.
We stopped in here for lunch after exploring the area, we managed to see 2 cassowaries while we were here. Tftc bluelens ️
Found with the rest of the MummaBear and the cubs gang, while in town seeing the family and attending a funeral.
Many thanks to Ballbag and BumbleBee for the cache placement and a maintenance

Etta bay is so beautiful.cache was easy to find, logs etc damp but I didn’t have any spares in me. A few little treasures to swap and a dirt old, single use face mask-seriously (I threw it out)!!
Thank you for placing this cache at such a beautiful place.

Found 08/10/2022 - it’s not in a black and yellow container anymore. Left trackable MTV55E
Found on 29/09. Catching up on logs.
Nice and easy find on a beautiful day. Unfortunately, didn't see a cassowary, but the water was very clear and perfect for a swim.
For those that use the spoiler photo (although you shouldn't need it), be aware that it is a little outdated, but still recognisable.

During a walk on the beach we actually saw a cassowary earlier. We are totally happy.
And we also found the cache.

Nice quick find. What a gorgeous little place. Came to spot a cassowary ( no luck) but very happy to see there are a few caches here
Our easiest find yet. Quite exposed to walkers by so tried to conceal it a little better with some leaves. Gorgeous spot for a picnic lunch.

Dried this one out best we could. Took out the wet wad of paper and left the log book in there. Added a few goodies. Found while on our chasing waterfalls adventure north. TFTC
On a wet day, we came for a drive here.
We are hoping to be able to spot a cassowary, but not sure if we will be lucky or not in that respect.
We were however fortunate to earn ourselves a smiley here.
Thanks bluelens.

We are gradually travelling North from the deep south, ACT, after attending the Townsville Mega. It was a relatively miserable day so when Pa suggested going for a fish n chips lunch at Flying Fish Point what would a good geocacher do? Of course I agreed and after finding a couple on the way, we pulled up just near this one. Pa excelled himself with a quick find here and passed me the log to sign. I do have to agree with the previous log that it is slightly more difficult than a 1.5 if you have any mobility issues.

Found but co-rods were all over the place, logs are damp, terrain tricky if you a senior with some mobility limitations , sl, tftc
Day 1 of the trip to North Queensland with Loci612!
Another beautiful beach and location! Took lots of amazing photos and we were even lucky enough to spot a Cassowary!

**This Cache:**
After finding the Earthcache and spotting a wild Cassowary, we decided to finish our visit to this bay with a traditional!
The place was very busy today, but thankfully they were all on the sand and facing the ocean! So grabbing this cache proved to be no problem thanks to it's good placement!

**Today:**
Day 6 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event!
After a night spent in Townsville, it was time to head further north before the mega started with **taytayy1**!
We spent the whole day driving up to Cairns, stopping at touristy places along the way and seeing a part of Australia we had not visited before! Managed to sneak in just 5 caches whilst sightseeing! We swam in a spa pool, saw a Cassowary on a beach, visited a lookout or two and did a couple small walks! A beautiful part of the coast to explore!

Found with NutCacheBNE and a new friend. Added a few more to our day out, but was working the extra drive.
Signed and replaced as found. Many thanks for the cache. Also spotted a cache-o-wary wandering by.
1MinnieMoo and I went for an afternoon drive to grab this one while staying in Innisfail.
No cassowarys for us today - but we still enjoyed the quaint little beach area. 1MinnieMoo soon bought the cache to light. It was very slightly damp - but still very usable. We signed the log and rehid the cache as it was found.
Incidentally, this cache is the 627th oldest active cache in Queensland

Having begun our day at 3am leaving Mackay, Fangsoki and I made our way to Innisfail, our next stop in our far North Queensland adventure.
We checked in to our accommodation for the night and took a little break, before heading out to one of the local establishments for an early dinner. Then it was time to find a few caches before retiring for the night.
I was a little hopeful we might spot ourselves a cassowary here this evening, however no cassowary appeared here for us today.
However the cache did, found nice and safely tucked away.
Might not have got my cassowary, but I did get a smile nonetheless.
Thanks for the cache bluelens.

This would have to be one of the prettiest locations, could imagine whiling away many a day on this beach. Thanks for bringing us here. The location alone deserves a favourite. Tftc
Great place on the beach. Was abit wet when looking so I sent the boys in. Excellent find. Thanks.
Using geocaches today for a tour of the area.
Very nice spot and a visiting Cassowary only added to the experience.
Thanks bluelens for creating and placing this for us to enjoy.

Staying with friends in Japoonvale and came here for a drive. Didn’t see a cassowary!! Log nice and dry. Thanks blue lens for the cache.
TFTC, all dry, thanks to Dunmowin double bagging the log. So much rain of late, but the area still busy . Managed to grab while it was raining
Grey nomads, currently spending time caching in far north Queensland. Finally moved along from Cairns, and spending a few days at Bramston Beach. What a beautful spot to park the van. Out caching, Innisfail and area. Only two to find, this was the second.
We had lunch at Etty Bay, beside the swimming enclosure. After lunch I started to go and look for the cache when Mr D called me and said there's a cassowary on the beach. So with everybody watching and photographing the cassowary I took the opportunity to find the cache
Which was easily found, but the container was full of water - apparently again. So back to the picnic table, emptied everything out, removed the mouldy things, dried everything else,
The old log book, I placed in a small zip log bag, and I placed a new log book double bagged. I left a small travel bug who wanted to have a holiday at Etty Bay. I hope he enjoys his stay.
Thanks bluelens for the hide

We stayed for a few days on this camp site and have seen Cassowaries roaming along the beach on a daily basis.
Log just about wrecked so I took the time to maintain, with another piece of paper. Double Ziplock securely coded. TFTC
Had a couple of chops at this one... at night whilst looking for reception and the next morning add I was able to park van in front of GZ whilst checking out. Lots of leaf litter and grass clippings and couldn't come up with the find.
Met old mate Cassowary the first night whilst I was fishing off the rocky point ... and then the next morning at my van whilst packing up... gorgeous old fella.

Dropped by this beautiful spot on the way to Cairns coming from Townsville. Spotted a crew harvesting coconuts just before we parked at the beach. While relaxing by the beach I was fortunate enough to chat with a local lady who knew the coconut crew and was kind enough to give us a couple of coconuts . Just as the geo wife got back from completing the earth cache, I spotted this great little hide, while everyone was at the beach. Signed the log while everyone was distracted. TFTC Bluelens. What a beautiful part of the coast.
Tftc bluelens, thanks for bringing us back to Etty, hoping to see a cassowary today and did so near Wongaling Beach. They were hiding from us at Etty. Cache found as all the muggles were looking the other way gazing at the fantastic views of the bay.
Not too many muggles around and we were able to have a good look. Garden has been mulched and tidied, so a bit container maybe gone??.
We knew it was there as we had spotted it previously during an unsafe time to log it. ️

Were so many muggles here today, even had two cassowaries come through. Cache was easy but right next to some people. Tftc
Detoured off the busy highway travelling north to Cairns. Busy at Etty beach this afternoon, tourists, locals, cassowaries.. It was all going on. Thanks for the cache.
Day out with geo hubby and kidlets swimming and watching cassowarys - of course we're caching too. Found with Monkeyman007
Quick find here , log was very wet so left new log ,monkey swag and a TB .. found with Cached Up Mummy Jules on a day trip here
We saw the cache, but at the local club was a meeting going on and from their place they could have watched us perfectly. So didn't try and will do next time, have to come here again, an amazing place.

TFTC. Went to retrieve then made a hasty retreat as a cassowary was having a well camouflaged sit down only a few metres away! Waited a bit then returned for successful retrieval. Original log wet and new paper damp so double bagged it.
Quick find, even without phone coverage, and despite large number of beach goers, able to be sneaky as everyone’s back is turned. Log book soggy, but fortunately enough dry paper inside. TFTC
Travelling trough Australia we had to stop here watching for cassowaries and we saw two of them. Amazing! While waiting for them we searched this Box and found it quickly. Tftc!
Lots of muggles there, but all of them facing sea wards. A quick find with some bites of green ants. TFTC
Last time I detoured out to Etty Bay was in 1986 !! [:o]
I remember that it was a beautiful spot with a ramshackle caravan park
Well the caravan park is still there,
but not as ramshackle
But the approach to Etty Bay was through suburbia !! [:o]
At least the beach retains its tropical beauty [^]
And now it has a geocache to chase
I turned up early and found GZ almost deserted
So I got too and soon found the cache
But a muggle had been watching me !! [:o]
And wanted a taste of the cache !!
One peck and the muggle lost interest
So TFTC.
I headed off for a stroll along the beach,
only to be closely shadowed by the muggle again
"Shoo kid !!, I am not your father !!"

I spent the night at the nearby caravan park, a beautiful spot to camp. After setting up camp I walked across to find the cache and was fortunate to see both a juvenile and adult cassowary. The adult cassowary disappeared into the trees at GZ so I gave it a 10 minute head start then found the cache and put my name in the log book. Great spot for a cache. TFTC!
