What an interesting history lesson. Of all the things to put in a can!!A quick find and a bonus TB to join me on my travels.TFTC matmobKeep smiling
Day trip to Robertstown and Eudunda area grabbing many multis and others during the days caching. All caches in good condition unless mentioned in the logs. TFTC
On our travels we stopped to grab this cache, what a wonderful view over the hill definitely worth the drive, a nice quick find, thanks for placing this cache
A Sunday drive with the Muggle Wife up north of Kapunda and surrounds. Her interest was the wildlife and stopping at sacred sites and other points of interest to read plaques and enjoy the scenery. Mr Adder also admired the abundance of accompaniments to roast potatoes and gravy.
All caches were in good condition unless noted otherwise.
.
An old processing building that we would have known nothing about if not for this hobby. It could probably be rebuilt for it's purpose nowadays with the return of the hoppers in abundance.
Thank you for the cache matmob Find Number 9842 on 10/07/2022

Quick find. There needs to be more rabbit canning, currently there seems to be a excessive amount of them hopping around.
The JAMS team (( JJ52, Allister W, Mogni, and sir_spectre ) plus TallBikeStan for this trip ) are headed off to the 20 th JuneLongWeekend Event in Clare. As you would expect extension poles, blow up kayaks, waders and ladders are in the car. I am sure every one else takes 11 hours to reach Clare from Adelaide, i am also sure via Burra is the logical to Clare . There was many photos taken of the fun times we had, even involving a ladder in the creek and of course many dirt roads ventured down. All caches for the weekend where stamped as JAMS and some more caches where placed on our travels. The missing JAMS member Michells&hound joined us in our B&B in Clare but didn't join with us for the JLWE game. The weather slowly got better over the weekend. It's good to see some gadget and creative caches around Clare that are permeant and not temp game caches.

While spending a month in Eudunda we have been finding a few caches when we have some spare time.
Many thanks for the hide matmob

The eldest of the Famous IV grew up in Eudunda but doesn't get back that way too often these days. But today I had some business to attend to so took the time to look around, take a drive through some smaller localities, grab a sausage roll at the bakery (the rest of the main street looked very, very quiet with more shops closed than open) and grab a few caches. On the way back home stopped and got a few caches around Kapunda. TFTC.
Eudunda trip with the geo-pup, day 4, Eudunda to Robertstown
Great history, sounds like they needed canned heat! Fave from us.

TFTC It reminds me of the late 60’s when the old meat cart used to come around & mum would purchase some fresh rabbits for her stews. Can’t remember rabbit ever being in tins but the fresh ones were yummy
We love getting off the main roads to see these interesting locations. We’ve eaten braised rabbit casserole and rabbit tereen but never tried the canned variety.
After the Tour de France series JJ52 and I headed back towards Eudunda and to find petrol. We stopped to pick up a few caches to ensure JJ52 got to her 120 for the day, think we did a few extras too.
Had to take a picture as muggle drove past just as we were about to retrieve the cache. TFTC interesting spot

After completing the Tour de France series with Michells&hound we decided to come up here on our way to a multi ending and as we were driving past we stopped to get the cache. [^]
Had no idea they ever canned rabbits. [?][?]

Yet another Puzzled Puzzler's Tuesday caching adventure. Oh dear..we are a little light on for crew today. Just me and Mrs. SA Sewer rats. Never mind..we have a plan to find some unloved caches and get Rat qualified for an unloved challenge we want to do later in year. [8)]
The target caches were all up above Robertstown, so of course we took the long way, detouring to some unfound caches along a circuitous route.
I remember my old uncle Arnold used to trap rabbits and it was a real treat to have a rabbit curry. Times have changed. We found the cache and thanks for the memories.

Brisal5 and Mrs SA Sewer Rat set on a lovely sunny day of caching.
WE had to targets for the day.
One was to get Mrs Rat to Qualify for Unloved cache Challenge in Victoria.
The second was to get her to the 28 caches to get her last Hidden Creature.
By end of the day Mrs rat was 4 short for Hidden Creature, and qualified for the VIC challenge.
A quick find for us today.
Thanks for the history. Tftc

Quick find doing the driving tour! Thanks to the post office people pointing us in the direction
After driving out to Eudunda to be part of the street party we arrive to discover the booking wasn't confirmed so we decided to cache the area instead. TFTC
Quick find on Australia Day. Unusual, to say the least, canned rabbit. Probably better than a lot of stuff we eat today. TFTC matmob.
A couple of days out from the SA Mega and I was on a run around the area grabbing a few caches. No real problems with any of them and the ones I attempted were in good shape. I think I will need another week to make any sort of dent in the numbers around here though......
Thanks for this one......
Thanks for this one......
What a fun day this one was! 35 smileys including 2 FTFs while out with Dennisc52 and earthlight for a fantastic day.
We had planned to get to Clare to locus caches but instead we found ourselves at Kapunda and Eudunda
Such is geocaching
Hmm, I have had belted bunny, roast rabbit, rabbit stew but never canned rabbit!
We dodged quite a few bunnies today but there was one that just didn't move quick enough to dodge Harry's tyres.

Great Location, Easy Find, Had no idea there was a Rabbit cannery here, Love the history around here.

What lovely rural country side, much more enjoyable driving round the backroads admiring the views and livestock than doing the mundane metropolitan caches.. Thanks matmob for the cache.
Another great location to find a cache on a beautiful day.
Had a great day caching today and this was most definitely part of it.
Thanks for bringing us here.
TNSL - just for something different left an Australian Penny 1948

What do you do with canned rabbit!
No rabbits (canned or otherwise) were seen but I was watched by some sheep...

On a visit to Eudunda (as a 'guest' of some relatives in a way) and decided to take the mob (adults and kids) on a Geocaching day in the district and had a hoot of a time. Finding this cache was one of the enjoyable experiences of the day. Imagine half a dozen kids scrambling to look for a cache and four adults in their thrall! Cache was quickly found by small hands. TNLN. With 'The Comrades' and their helpers. Thank you to 'matmob' for the cache and its location.
Found it!
As many of our relatives are from this area,
There's a good possibility of being a part of the venture,
Even if only being some of the trappers!
(We did keep the tradition in my childhood)...
Nice spot and a good hide,

May be the cannery can make a comeback as the increased sightings on the roads showing increasing numbers of rabbits every year TFTC
Found quickly on a fantastic day of caching heading up to Burra.
Thanks for yet another cache matmob.

Had this in hand lickity split, unusual history, thanks for bringing us here!!
Found while out on a caching adventure with some Adelaide Hills Geocachers.
Thanks Matmob

The tuppaware container was in really poor condition with the lid gone and logbook dissolved in a pulp at the bottom. Replaced the container and the logbook.
Cache and contents were scattered. No log book found so left a tempory few sheets of paper. Cache has no lid, so we covered the best we could. Thanks
Hard to work out where it was as it had been split. Moses on the move tried to repair!
Elmer Fudd could have landed a job here, or maybe not.
Nice quick find, but I don't think the container has much life left in it.
Thanks matmob.

Can’t get over how green and lush everything is around here! Very hard to imagine canned bunny being a big seller but with the right marketing, who knows? As mentioned previously lid of container is cracked. TNLN. Cache #760.
Bunny hopped out of the car to the cache location and found all the contents abath with glee or was that slime?.turned container on end, drained it and dried logbook.Lid has a crack in it and will leak in more water,I did not have an appropiate container to replace it with so returned old one and placed rock over lid.tftc
Found on my second day caching in this part of Australia. My thanks to matmob for the cache. I remember eating them fresh when I was a kid and chicken was expensive.
Hmmm, an interesting place - Canned rabbit!!
