Another metric time cache that would be upstanding if the was more time for those in charge to look after the area. Could see this been a beaut area. How it has changed in the short time period of of first visit to collect the info needed in November to take home and work a GZ before heading down here and finding the cache. Still was glad that some still cares enough about this place.

Enjoyed this gathering the info to solve this one.
It seems to be the trend for the local authority's in charge of these areas to let them degrade into a overgrown state so nobody uses them. With the play equipment and picnic shelter here it would be a nice area if it was looked after.

Thanks old friend - I will remember you fondly.
My first mystery - I made it deliberately easy and family friendly. Then I was told it was SOOOO easy - well that was a challenge!! LOL!
The cache has had its time and as Sarah Brightman says TTSGB!
I am archiving some of my metro caches, and am not adopting them out.

after standing in an ants nest, then slipping off a rock, throwing my GPS in the air and hearing it smack the ground (Oregons are tough!) it was an easy find once the GPS settled itself.
A very entertaining cache as R36 stood in the ants nest whilst checking his GPS!!
Wandered down to this one after finding Latham Car Park. Glad we did - I've never seen such impressive white water rapids in Canberra!
A quick bit of team work here on out journey around the neighbourhood this evening. We got a park close by but felt the huge temperature difference as soon as we got out of the car. This motivated us to get the clues quickly and after a short stroll MV came up with the find. I'm not sure how much of the area we were able to fully appreciate in the dark but the playground seemed like a great spot for kids.
Thanks,

Reperio at 2130. Arrived at WP1 with Team Rubik on a very cold night, and we were looking forward to completing this one as fast as we could to return back to the car. The clues were found, and once GZ was calculated, we strolled over where we found the well concealed cache.

Was typing this cache logs as soon as computer stuffed up and went back a page.

This has been on my to do list for quite a while, so it was good to knock this one off. Mind you, I made harder work of it than I needed to.
First got to GZ and did the sums, then realised I'd only printed off one page (I don't have an iphone, still geocaching the way the cavemen did) and didn't have the formula to plug the answers into. Had to phone home to get that, and then came up with the final GZ. Hopped in the car and drove, found GZ at the side of Ginninderra Drive near Charnwood?!? Didn't take a genius to realise I'd fouled something up drastically. A quick rethink and replugging of coords, and realised the real GZ was some way back the way we'd come.
By the time we finally got there, it was quite dark. Fortunatley, injuryman had his little compass / light contraption that saved the day (or night, as it were). So signed the log and headed home for a well earned glass of red on a cold night.
Thanks SS!

Give me bit headache but give me a relax at GZ. Stay there for while... Lovely view... SL. Thanks SecretSquirrel-BJC
A little bit of searching and calculating here and there and everything worked out just fine, thanks SecretSquirrel-BJC. Took the geocoin.
Another nice playground and park that is not being looked after. There seem to be so many of these...........
A nice place to hang about and find the details but watch out for the KILLER ANTS! They literally attack!

Nice easy puzzle in a lovely park, and for added entertainment W6R performed the bug dance as the killer ants attacked from all sides swarming up his leg to take refuge from the rain inside his trousers. With ants removed we solved the puzzle, logged the cache and moved on quickly. (Why do I never have a camera when I need one).
This one took a while, I spent ages looking for a "missing" plaque near the first waypoint before I realised what was going on. Though once I got the GZ, I found it almost instantly.
Looks like I'm only the second visitor in about 2 months, I think I should take the geocoin somewhere more popular.

EDIT 3: Thanks rbirtles, think I'll hold onto it and, if I can find another, use them to create a multi.

Sent you an email Sterlk - this geocoin is actually a pathtag. It looks like you have already logged it via pathtags.com so it is now yours to keep, swap or place in another cache. Cheers!
A nice easy place to get to but after calculating GZ I started to question my counting skills as it put me in someone's back yard. Time to go back to year 2... Went back to park and evidently it was not my counting skills in question but actually my reading skills [:0]. Got to GZ and had fun poking around a bunch of rocks and blackberry until cache/s were in hand. One of the easier SS puzzles to work out... Cheers and thanks for the cache!

I was actually feeling a little disappointed as I did this cache. Not for the cache itself, but rather the whole area. The grass is is WAY overgrown and looks right ready to burn. The playground seems like it is basically forgotten, which is a shame because it's a pretty spot.
I enjoyed doing the cache however (apart from being attacked by VICIOUS ants at one point) and found the hide challenging to locate.

Enjoyed this one, spent some time wandering around and climing up and down big rocks as out GPS was not very accurate today. Eventually fond it no where near where I started looking. Some snakes in the area, but they weren't too interested in Geoferrets and I. Dropped tracking coin.
Found with muggle daughter visiting from Victoria, she is now off to buy a GPS !!! TFTC. NanPop
Hmmm.....no luck on this one. The puddle gang are demoralised....and scratched from the sharp spiky plants everywhere. Puddle-teen got bit by ants too and was somewhat angry.
Lots of muggles incl muggle dogs who no doubt thought we were amusing.

Really enjoyed this little one- shame my daughter wasn't with me and isn't a couple of years older- I'll have to remember this place.
Calculated everything then got to GZ- seemingly endless caves and doors! After a bit of wandering around the cache location revealed itself- lucky the thorns aren't any higher! TFTC!

Sara identified that the GZ for this cache was in the area we were currently exploring for other purposes so I quickly went to work trying to solve. While the dogs wandered through the rambles I signed the log and was quickly on my way again. TFTC
A fun cache, despite the cuts all over my hands from the blackberries! Cheers.
Found with Badja Jnr. This is close to home but I seem to never get around to these closer ones but I did this time.
Geonewbie 9 yr old enjoyed solving all the questions and learning about GPS and waypoints and geocaching.
Found with few scratches.

It took a few goes to get this one, with wrong coordinates (the number of platypuses there might be debatable), a never ending parade of muggle who just wont leave, a jumpy GPS, and thorny plants all making this difficult.

Found all the info at WP1 fairly easily, but miscounted one thing and the GPS wanted me to walk into the middle of a very busy street.
Figured what must be wrong and - aha! I didnt consider that!
GPS was a bit shaky at GZ so had to walk around a little before making the find, scratching my legs up nicely

Normally I shudder when I see a SecretSquirrel mystery but this is very different. A top little cache in a nice area that I'm sure would be great for families with young kids, except for the GZ, the blackberries have taken over....
Thanks SecretSquirrel for the cache in a nice area.

Nice to do a mystery masquerading as a multi as no prior research needed here. A pleasant little walk around the park and a well hidden final cache that took a bit of finding.
Thanks Secret Squirrel

An easy multi and a quick find was just what we needed to lift our spirits after the long drive and arrival on a hot afternoon. The heat seems to have kept the kiddie muggles away too which was a bonus. Thanks indeed SS and plenty more logs to come yet.

I feel like I have met you already, been doing so many of your mysteries in preparation for this weekend trip. Not sure that this one is quite a mystery, but it was fun.
The questions looked a bit bizare, but so is the play area.
We did all out calculations and made the short walk to GZ.
Thanks, Robmc..

After having this one on my to do list and so close to home, we finally got around to completing it.
Ju and I used to ride here all the time when she was learning to ride and we would always stop here for a play, so with Ju and now So and the Geogounds in tow we headed out on foot for the listed coordinates. While I got ready and gathered the necessary working out apparatus the Geokids had a play but then it was down to work.
They both had a blast gathering the info required for the calculations and once I had a likely GZ identified we were off to find it. As usual Ju's Eagle Eye's were the fist to spot the cache's hide within seconds so after retrieving them we took them to the nearby convenient location to make the necessary swaps and log entry.
The Geokids absolutely loved the shell's to swap for and each picked out the 'best' one there. Thanks SS-BJC for a cache that the kids loved. (and I did too)

Attempted this cache acouple of months ago, and came up empty handed, maybe if I didnt put my hand under a rock and came up with a hiss instead of a cache. Lucky I came out with all fingers!
After making contact with the owner to see if the cache was still around I went back to what I thought was gz. Had a look around and nothing. So I did the puzzle again and came up with the same numbers. So off I went again to what I thought was gz. A quick look and had the cache in my hand. TFTC and the hunt

After an enquiry, I checked that the cache is still in place there - gave a couple of blackberry stalks a snip...
we rode up to a point and parked our bikes. at that point we were confused as to where all the places in the clue were. did a bit of walking and found them.
When we rode up on this one I thought we may have trouble due to a rock that looks like there used to have a plaque of some sort on it.
But, we just took a look around and everything turned up elsewhere.
Quite the uh, pointy, little cache hide.
Thanks.

One thing that’s always intrigued me about native cuisine is when you read our history it seems everybody used to eat anything they could catch or shoot. Then at a point in time this all changes and we only read about people eating introduced animals. There where never any complaints about taste or nutrition value the only clues seem to indicate the switch had more to do social standing or snobbery?
Think I might apply for a government grant to find the answer.

Took Mum and 4 nieces/nephews aged 6-9 years and had a great time. What a wonderful cache with kids. This was their first exposure to geocaching and they are hooked. "Aunty Nik, I wish we would get one of these GPS thingies. They are lots of fun." I think this was the most fun cache I've done. We followed it up with "Close to a Creek" and requests for more caching on the weekend. A real hit all around. It's so exciting to get kids excited about being outside! T shell, L Cassie the Bug TB. The name of this cache has appealed since the day it popped up, so we were pleased to be able to do it today. Final out of only six when our day was cut short unexpectedly, but we managed to squeeze this in. A Squirrel puzzle that I can solve (because it was designed for children? ) We enjoyed counting, and found the cache not quite where we thought but quickly nonetheless. Nice spot, thanks SS-BJC. What!? Another Wombat Stew in Canberra! I was most surprised to find this here. Caching has brought me to this park on several occasions now & I keep discovering somewhere new. Found the coords relatively easily but the cache proved to be elusive - more of those rotten blackberry brambles that I learned to love (?) at Bundy's Revenge. Given this was meant to be kid friendly I decided I had to be in the wrong spot, so I widened my search area until I was way off course. When I returned to GZ the cache was there - no idea why I didn't see it the first time! TNLN TFTC.

Huxley (use TB1NGXG to reference him) the geohound and I enjoyed this cache immensely. Whilst allrounder and Shadow! were off to tackle the metrogain, we had our own rogaining adventure. Okay. We went caching.
Fine.
Loved this cache's simplicity along with the fabulous area - perfect for the pup (who met several other dogs today, one of whom he had a good play with). Once our caching work was done, we explored the creek area a little for fun, but had to keep an eye on the time so that I could get back in time for coaching basketball.
TFTC - TNLN, but snaffled the Canadian Forces Geocoin (it's a beauty!)

Had muggle trouble here. Found the clues easy enough, but my GPSr didn't point to any likely hiding places. Checked again and then found a really likely hiding place, well away from the coords but perhaps not really kid friendly. Frustration then took over and I was on the verge of giving up and started just looking at random and found the cache well away from where my GPSr was pointing. Left The Mighty Shark GC.
Is the plural of 'platypus', platypus, platypussies, or platypi? Good cache and a few others quite nearby.

I worked out the coords of the cache while the kids played in the playground. Things were a little confusing until I started wandering around a little.
Found all the clues and wandered over to GZ. Had the cache in hand presently and the kids chose shells while I signed the log. They left a few small toys and took a couple of the shells (one of which my daughter promptly broke when she dropped it while I was putting the cache back ).

hmm second time to this area recently, this visit was a lot more productive. Good use of the clues available in the area on this one. It might just have been me but the co-ords I worked out were out by approx 8 meters, there's been a bit of rock and roll around the calculated GZ so maybe not only I have found this to be the case. Never the less the cache is within the normal radius and should be an easy enough find for experienced finders.

Nice little puzzle in the area and I agree, that place was meant for a cache!.

Found with frebbles. Just made it in behind mtbikeroz. Weird how we suddenly keep coming across other cachers, but it's nice to finally meet some fellow cachers! Great cache, and a great hide. TNLN TFTC
How fortuitous, I had to be up at Dunlop tonight. And this cache appeared yesterday. Left a few minutes earlier, got to site, did the maths, walked to cache – all in the dark I might add, found the front door easily, then sat down to write the log in the moonlight.
Just as I was doing this I suddenly became aware of something creeping in towards me – the evening mist was rolling in, eerie, and quite pretty in the moonlight. But, then I saw them, fellow geocachers creeping up on me in the dark, hayleylou with frebbles, coming towards me with their glow of the gps screen in the evening mist. Nice to meet them.
Signed log, took Geocoin, then off I went to my appointment in nearby Dunlop.
This cache reminds me of the VERY similar one down in Isaacs. TFT(moonlit)C.

FTF at 22:25. I found this new listing as I was logging my finds from earlier in the day, and decided to take a punt that it still had not been found. Hopped into the Stealth GeoBeast and raced up the Tuggers Parkway from Wanniassa, got to WP1, did my sums, found the cache, and the logbook was clean! A good, unambiguous puzzle SS-BJC (I've had some lately that could be interpreted in several different ways), coupled with a very neat hide (seemed almost made for a cache). It was cold and damp out there at that time though, and I could barely feel my hands by the end of it all.
