Great little multi to knock off before mahjong! Didnt read the sums properly so had trouble adding things up but once I reread and reread I managed to tick all the boxes. Nice little hide, took me a few minutes but nice quiet day here. Many thanks for the cache Edvern.
A correction made to instructions for waypoint 6=b. The orienteering plaque number has been changed. All good to go now.
Doing a bit of a whirlwind trip around the North Island - Lower Hutt-Palmerston North-Hawera - to see friends and family. Have my eye on a few caches to fill in my "months hidden" grid, this being one. This multi took me way longer than it should have. I just couldn't get the numbers to work. Eventually I was able to get some likely coordinates and I headed to the location. Cache was a quick find once I waited for some muggles to walk past with their furry friends. Thanks for the multi and the cache.
TFTC. It took me for mice walk around me the park, even took me to a few places I havent been before. I couldnt sign the look as I didnt have a pen, but I will definitely come back with a pen next time.
Whenever we visit Palmy we always end up at Victoria Esplanade, it's a great park. Enjoyed this multi cache - clearly worded so it was easy to gather the required info at each waypoint. A nice hide at GZ too. TFTC
I had a lovely walk around the park collecting the information on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon. Gorgeous spot! TFTC
Good spotting JoeyGE0 finding a previously missing tiny tube on the ground! Checked today and took it away plus the old, full log book. The hide remains as per the hint and good to find this log book is dry with more room for visitors.
Had fun walking around the esplanade. Took approx an hour to complete. Just about to sign the log an noticed a sad old bison tube on the ground, so there ended up being two containers! I have returned the bison tube back to its spot and put the replacement container at the base of the post for collection.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache back as found, TFTCSL. Thanks edvern for this Multi-Cache. Thanks for helping us get one step closer to our next milestone.

A nice little multi cache and good hints made this a quick find of this nicely concealed cache. Thankfully the area was all very quiet early New Years morning. TFTMC

I couldn't find the info at WP1, and didn't wish to spend too long hunting around the playground, specially not when drawing glances from parents. I used the checksum to work out the answer for h.
A spring (damp) morning in the Esplanade. Had a great time gathering up all the data, it's an amazing park! FP from me. Cache tight to extract, but got there eventually. All good. Tftc!
Yay. Finally nailed this one. Thanks Edvern for your advice. Glorious summers day with lots of muggles around, thankfully not paying any attention to me! Tftc
Got here early did the treck then messed up the actual entering of them, the reason why I standing in the middle of the sports field. Back to note book & quickly identified the fat figure error & a quick fins.
Awesome hide, & 4.41km walk I did, oh yeah that included a detoured check out another cache on the way.

Great wander around. Was here day before yesterday with my parents and we did the AL. But i returned alone today to do this one as it had a bit more walking. Lovely spots to visit, weather is holding and a great little hide at final. TFTC much enjoyed.
Ms_KR and I went for a walk through the park after dinner picking up the required numbers from the waypoints. Ont he way back we made a nice quick find at GZ. Cheers. Last for the day.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. A day to drive from National Park to Palmerston North today, following the Whanganui river down from Pipiriki. The weather was great for caching, not too hot, cold, windy or wet!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Lovely spring evening for a stroll around this huge park. Hopefully Christchurch will have a similar area along the river one day. It's day 26 of the tour and the holiday nails just got the chop. Luckily I had the torch and KR had the tool. Tftc
Little corgi dog and her owner was nice to see them on there walk got to play with the dog and give it pats as I was looking found once they where gone tftc
Day out with sis and partner arrived at gz and had to sit and wait for muggle and corgi to leave before finally getting to cache great spot thankyou for the walk around
Loved the Walk around the park with my sister squishysgirl and her partner managed to complete complete my daily step goal and got to pat a Corgi while we wait for her muggle to move from final location tftc
It was enjoyable to walk around the esplanade today especially as it was fine - over the last 2 weeks there have been more days caching in the rain rather than in the sun!! TFTC opted-out user.
Been in Palmy for a few weeks and trying to keep a streak going. Enjoyed collecting the information for this cache last week. Always good to spent time in this wonderful park. Today just had time for one cache and decided to look for the final. No problems with the specific hint. Nice hide and glad I haven’t cut my nails for a while. Thanks edvern for the smiley.
must admit squirrel nutcase had done most of the solve for this multi before i caught up with him.
we have visited this park on a previous trip. area was very busy then but not today.
couple of people near GZ when we approach but no problems with final.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and family... We ditched the family - they wanted to go to the markets and shopping, and we wanted to go caching - an easy solution...
The dog and I were left on our own for some time, so we decided to attack two Adventure Labs and this multi. We totally enjoyed ourselves, walking all over the Esplanade and discovering lots of interesting places within the park. We played things tactically and never needed to cross the same paths twice. By the time we were nearing the last stage of this multi, Gap joined us, and we ambled up to the final together.
There were a couple of people nearby, but they moved on as we sat and waited. This hide was well concealed... Admittedly, we don’t often enjoy big multis, but this one was fun, right to the end! Thanks edvern and TFTC.

Sadly after my walk through, finding the required information, I was unable to make the find here. I can see exactly where the cache should have been, it's very obvious. Had a look through the foliage at GL also but I'm certain this has gone wandering off. This DNF icon will remind me I need to come back to this though.
Either way, nice to return to this park after many years, and look forward to returning. Cheers, edvern!

One of our favourite local parks, it has it all including small walks in native bush which includes tuis, fantails, kereru as well as many ducks and ducklings. This was our sanity saver walk area during our local covid lockdown. We enjoyed doing this multi, even with rain showers, (although felt sorry for a local wedding party) but cache final was an easy find. Gardens are just looking beautiful, which included the camellias and roses currently in bloom.
I thoroughly enjoyed doing this multi, I knew it was going to be time consuming and I had plenty of time to be consumed! It always pays to read the cache page properly and especially C:geo. I was not heading to all the WP's in a logical manner, I kept missing ones that were close to just where I had been and I had to return from the other side of the park. But it was a gorgeous day for it.
I had my e-bike in the car and yet never used it, instead I probably took much longer driving around. I had no problems finding the info and the check sums worked first time. Stoked about that.
Loved the mini railway, next time I'm in Palmerston North I'd love to go for a ride. Also I shall go for a ride on my e-bike along side of the river.
Thanks very much for bringing me here edvern, loved it and a FP from me.

What a wonderful journey you took me through the esplanade and river bank. Now that I have got home I see what letter each way points corresponds to! My total led me 33ks away so knew I had miscalculated. Plus the check sum never added up. I will make time this week to check it out.
Being my day off I planned another wander down to south Palmy today. On the way I got side-tracked by a FTF opportunity - accomplished!
Previously I had been looking to recreate an early geocache that was in the area. Having found an ideal spot 184m away from GZ (according to the old WPs) I was all ready to submit for publication when edvern corrected the WP errors, and I'd actually placed my geocache virtually right on top of this cache. Well 3m away to be accurate. So back to my drawing storyboard.
So I'm down here. First attempt at another nearby cache was a DNF, so to cheer me up I know this one is an easy find - if one knows where to look as edvern had verified the cache was here. Not as auspicious an occasion as my first visit to coincide with this geocache's birthday.
I must add I see the previous finders didn't sign the log, so my 199 days between finds stands. TFTC edvern. Have a FP for keeping this thirteen year old geocache going.
*(I'm still looking for somewhere to place my tribute geocache!)*

Found on a nice afternoon. Found with my girlfriend and a great hide! TFTC
Many thanks to Phronimos for pointing out errors in two waypoints. All corrected now and ready for visitors.
This one needs to be checked out now that the Esplanade open to the public again, will attend to this as soon as conveniently possible.
A lovely day for a pleasant wander around Victoria Esplanade Park. Unfortunately after all that wandering I was left wondering about the location of the cache. I realise the CO checked the cache back in January but there's only so many places that can be Oruvaq naq gb evtug bs frng *and* Cynag senzr **and** 80pz nobir TY.
I'm pretty sure it's not there.
I'm pretty sure it's not there.
We had no trouble at all with the clues. The post is still missing but the number can be found on the nearby bench. The hints matched the GZ but despite searching for a long time we could not find the cache - the only dnf today.
While I saw this had D 3 rating I found it slightly more difficult as a couple of wAy points were ambiguous and another wasn’t there ...as others have noted....it was a matter of finding as many WP as possible then sitting down and trying to work out the answer...eventually I got there and the check sum added up but it sure took a long time and I guess some local knowledge would have helped a lot...at the final the well placed cache was soon found and log signed the easiest part of the mission ...thanks edvern for the time and effort put into setting this cache it sure gave a good look at this great asset Palmerston Nth has
That was a mission. We arrived to go into the hothouse but it wasnt open for two hours so mmm well this multi will do. So off we went I can understand the frustration that others had, but perseverance paid off. At one waypoint where there was supposed to be a seat but nothing. After a wander around I found a seat and used this information. At another waypoint there was no post with number on for the kaihikatea. However using the check sums were could figure out the missing info. After that another walk and cache nicely hidden. Thanks for the long wander around a beautiful park edvern.
Now that the Wildbase is completed and open to the public on some days this multi has been updated and hints improved where necessary. All checked and good to go. Enjoy!
Completed getting the half the information required yesterday and came back today to find the rest of what was required. Had a great time wandering around this amazing park which seems to have everything. Cache was soon located and many thanks for setting this up. Fav point from us
Had a little spare time this afternoon so decided to head out for an hour or so for a few caches. Had searched for this cache a few times on previous trips to Palmerston North. Once the CO pointed me in the right direction I spotted the cache straight away. Thanks for the multi, and the cache.
Changes are happening in the Esplanade with the construction of the new Wildbase.
In the meantime I have provided answers for two waypoints that have been causing some problems, see information at the final coordinates for the helpful tips! Helpful tips: c=8 and g=9

I've managed to contrive to spend so much time in and around Palmerston North over the last couple of months that I am managing to get around to tackling all those caches that I have been looking for a while but hadn't managed to have a go at before.
So this weekend, I had been staying with friends in order to attend the nearby Social Butterfly event yesterday, and today I decided that I really wanted to target some Multi-caches as I tend to mainly concentrate on Trads and Puzzles, but definitely want to get more Multis in order to qualify for some of the Well Rounded Cacher challenges available.
Having parked up as near to the children's playground, I started what would be a very nice walk around this park. I had no issues getting any of the information until I came to Number 3, which confused me for a bit. Then also at number 5 where the complete absence of any sign to take info from meant that I had to rely on getting everything else right and the use of the Checksums to work out what c and g should have been.
But obviously that was enough, as I was able to make a quick find at the final GZ. Being a Sunday morning, there were few people around to disturb me whilst I dealt to the appropriate caching administration, after which I was able to replace everything as it was found and then back to the car to head off to the next one.
Thank you taking me to parts of this park that I hadn't been to before.

Spent a joyous day at the Esplanade solving the various clues for this cache. I wasn't able to sign the log the same day however and resolved to return in the morning to find and sign. Didn't take long to find once at GZ. TFTC.
After a nice trip around in the garden this was discovered without difficulty. TFTC from Norway!
We love this park and often visit it when in the area (not very often as we are from the UK). However, we have been here a few weeks now and have been picking up the waypoints when visiting. A couple to do so went for them to finish it off. The co-ords. looked good but unfortunately someone was sitting close by. We dropped into the cafe and on our return the coast was clear. Armed with a very useful hint the cache was soon in our hands.
#141 Found with my mum Gr33nslime and perhaps my dad JimmyNZ. Trying the mass logging thing with GSAK hence the really general log entry!
Out with Gr33nslime and DangerSAM this morning for a fun walk around the park. DangerSAM even got to feed the ducks. Great little multi to do and it was an awesome day for once to wander around, enjoyed the sun while it lasted. Been meaning to do more multis of late and today was also a dot day so made an effort to get out with the young cacher. He now fits in his back pack and was very content to examine the numerous trees and park attractions on the way. Thanks for the cache it is well laid out and the final is very nicely hidden. Very well crafted container and log to, still bone dry.
# 896 A lovely Waitangi weekend day for a walk around this lovely Palmy asset with JimmyNZ and DangerSAM in the Macpac possum on dads back. I am so familiar with this park but it was lovely to have another excuse to get out and admire some intricate details of it and to visit all the corners. A very well thought out multi, and a very carefully crafted final cache container - i wish all micro caches were this easy to extract and sign and in such bone dry condition. gets a favourite for me, thanks for the cache edvern. Finally i have all the caches in this park!
Great cache experience. I actually worked out the co-ords a long time ago, but got around to making the find on this trip to PN. Plant frame no longer grown over it seems. So cache easily spotted. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. BJ25.
What a beautiful night to visit the esplanade and have a big walk around to get some exercise while also using my brain to solve a multi we got to the final destination to claim the cache, the cache was all good here signed the log and replaced as found thanks for placing the cache in this beautiful enviroment . we decided to continue walking on such a cool day and maybe find another cache.tftc
Did today with The Wandering Dragons, Crystal Fairy, MycroMan and Violet Butterfly on a big day out towards Palmerston North. Thank you!

Cache # 3,370 - Last one on a big day out in Palmerston with Crystal Fairy, MycroMan, Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. This one took a bit of a while, and there was a lovely twist at the end of the calculations. A nice hide at the end, and was glad to have had such a lovely tour of the park. Thanks for a great multi! TNLNSL. TFTC!
Last cache of the day. In between the way points, we caught the train, found a multi, played some Pokemon Go, played in the playground,. Grabbed the final (btw the hint should be updated to remove the word "overgrown" as there was nothing growing there). Did with Mycro Man, Wandering Dragons, Violet Butterfly and Astro Hunter. Started to pour with rain about 2 minutes after finding the cache and about 10m from reaching our car, which ended our caching day. Thanks for a fun multi.
It's 10-11-18 we have just done the virtual and the traditional and looked at starting this multi only to find out that I had completed this one back in 10-09-16 with scoria back when I went by the handle of DDT-T42-24T and I had not logged this cache
So this is a very late log 2 years and 2 months late {:)}
So now that has been sorted we are off to start the near mystery cache before going to MGC: GIFF 2018 (Manawatu) event
Thanks for the cache

Out with DDT-T42-24T at the esplanade doing the multi's.
This was our last multi for the day, a good way to round it off.
This was our last multi for the day, a good way to round it off.
Very early start to the day, 4.30am wake up and leaving the house just after 6.30 fill the tank pick up sunju and we are off, our main goal today was to grab some multi's and ? caches that we both hadnt found, and a couple of standard ones finishing up around 5.30pm it made a very long day, we walked what felt like many kms getting lost/answers. - feet are getting sore and needing a much needed drink, did with some others that we had in this area. tftc (so many kids out playing pokemon)
After many years of visiting this park with the kids I had not explored all these places we went today (caching with Marisa&Kaleb). What a shame - I feel like I short changed the kids lol. Took a good 45 minutes but a lovely day with no wind so it was well worth it. Only found one waypoint that suggested two possible options (in our opinion). Plugged in the first choice and bingo! A very tidy hide. Lots of children in the park being school holidays (far too busy to pay any attention to weirdo's wandering around with cell phones - very grateful for Pokemon) but no one to be seen near the final. Many thanks for taking the time to place this multi - it must have taken a while. I am going to give it a favourite as it was a lovely walk and well thought out/placed cache.
Came back late today in the hope that the gardener had knocked off. No problems this time and quickly located the cache. Thanks for the excellent multi and making me explore the esplanade. TFTC
Have completed the waypoints and made it to GZ. can't search due to muggle Gardeners working on garden directly in front of cache site.
Lots of people out today staring at the phones. Pokemon go I suspect.

Found on a beautiful Sunday evening after the heat of the day. We did the way points in a random order but it worked all the same! Nice and easy to work out the numbers and a very enjoyable evening walk. We even stopped to feed the ducks too! TFTC!
Checked the container, and added a micro insert inside with a waterproof log book. Hope that helps overcome the problems with dampness. Ready now for visitors!
Found it finally!!! Took several attempts to get all info and couldn't go and get one in playground because of the sheer number of people there. Found at gz easily but logbook was too wet to sign. Tftc

Thanks for the nice tour of the Esplanade! Had to re-read one clue and consider the difference between a seat and a backrest. The log is damp but write-able; the container is cracked so that may be it. TFTC!
We were out with the family today visiting the Esplanade..walk through the rose gardens, visit the birds in the aviaries, feed the ducks at the pond, visit the conservatory, visit the childrens playground..my granddaughter LOVES the Esplanade! With the strolling we also visited the various waypoints and put the data together after lunch at home.We called back later in the afternoon to visit the final for a quick find and another pleasant pause to enjoy the surroundings..thanks edvern for a most interesting cache!
Yay, finally found it! Have done this over a few days as a certain toddler kept wanting to play... Nice spot for the final cache. Thanks
Found the way points over the course of a couple of visits, and the final cache in a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon after a nice train ride. Tftc
I found the clues for this multi about a month ago but unfortunately there were too many Muggles working in the area for me to be able to retrieve the cache. In the area this avo so it made sense to grab this one while the place was Muggle free. Log was a little damp - tried to dry as best I could. TFTC

Thanks Swissfamily1 for pointing out the missing sign. Waypoint 5 has been updated and all good to go now.
Finally been able to do this cache Miss Swiss & I went for a zooming walk around the waypoints. Thanks for a well thought out multi. We had lots of fun. Got our result & then were stumped...seems I'd misread a waypoint another day & had an incorrect figure! We put on our Geo hats and used the hint to help us track down a possible gz.
We pretty much figured it out but muggles were in the way :/ had to wait a bit & get the rest of the family for some distraction & soon had cache in hand.
Then we went back & found the correct details for one of the way points is missing but Mr Swiss knew the answer.
TFTC it was good fun

Found yesterday, had an awesome time on this one. Awesome, have to PPP back and log the log book. Phone went dead as we entered the middle of rose garden luckily we could see the intended GZ and after about 10 minutes the geo was complete. Would allow 1 1/2 hours if u want to enjoy this one! TFTC!!!
Thanks for the hunt Edvern! I did most of this with the kids a few weeks ago and because we found a footbridge with 36 planks we almost ended up knocking on some-ones door opposite the Lido!
Today I used the co-ords I was sure of (abcd) to walk a line until I found the hinted area, and the cache was soon in hand - Yay! And what a peaceful and scenic place to spend some time after work

Grabbed the information for this multi last weekend while on a bike ride with the Jr. Cachers but decided to save the find for another day. Happened to be in the area today so it made sense to find the cache and tick off another dot-day. Quick find at the final by Jr. Cacher #3 and keeps our finding streak going. There was condensation inside the container and the log was a little damp, despite the recent fine weather, however the waterproof paper could still be signed. Tried to dry things out a little before replacing the cache. Thanks edvern.
Thanks. Took a while to get to it as joggers appeared at the most inconvenient times!
Thank you edvern for this most enjoyable multi-cache! I spent 3 hours looking for the cache with my son Godispojken, my friend, her daughter and the daughter's friend. If you take breaks to play at the playground, dip your feet into the river, have ice cream and feed the ducks it actually takes 3 hours. Perfect school holiday activity! TFTC
This ended up being a good walk all over the esplanade area gathering the numbrs. Found quite quickly once we got there! Tftc
