Sorry it took me so long to archive this. A few people had sent me messages thru the site, and I gave permission to change the location to protect the kauri trees. I hope this finally takes care of the problem; and happy caching. Sincerely, Mamoose and friends
Following on from my recent DNF, I talked to another previous finder who confirmed that it was hidden underneath the large Kauri tree. We suspect DOC has probably found and removed this one. With Kauri dieback disease now being an issue, I think this cache should be archived rather than replaced.
Out for a hike with hotrodpete and 0B80B8. We worked out where the cache should have been, but couldn't find it there. Hotrodpete was a previous finder and confirmed it wasn't where he originally found it. If it was indeed hidden underneath this large Kauri tree, then it really should be placed somewhere else or archived in the interests of protecting this tree from Kauri Dieback disease.
Out for an evening caching with Hotrodpete and Vistra. First on our list was this offset and a brisk 30 minute walk saw us through Barge Park and up at GZ.
We were obviously at the right spot, as there were a couple of nice hidey holes in the base of the mighty kauri. No cache container to be seen though and I suspect it may have been removed by DOC in the interests of protecting this magnificent tree from the dieback disease.

Out on the 1st evening of a Maunu caching mission with Vistra and 0B80B8 to turn the undiscovered caches in the Maunu area into smiley faces on the caching map.
I had found this offset cache a few years back so watched while Pete and Travis searched around the Kauri tree for the cache. This time there was no luck in locating the cache, however I do remember where the cache was located when I originally logged it so can confirm it is no longer in place.
With the concern about Kauri die-back and the effort DoC is putting into trying to halt the spread of this disease I believe that this cache should be archived. It is no longer good public relations for caches to be located in the roots, or very close to, Kauri trees. My suspicion is that this cache may have been discovered and removed by DoC during one of their inspections of the local Kauri.

#631 11:20 am Great offset cache, although I think that it should be repositioned and no dogs allowed added to the attributes. TFT(multi)C.
We deliberately walked straight past here on our way up the hill chasing the FTF at Forest to the Sea. Stopped on our way back down, did the projection, and found the cache. Thanks for showing is this pair of brothers.
Great walk up the hill, the boy was very excited to swap his little something for a knight
We started from the Kamo end of this track, walking thru the Pukenui forest past other caches. This was the last one on the list to find. What majestic Kauri trees there are in this forest and amazing that they managed to survived the tree felling stage. They must have been babies during that phase to have been left standing.
Pete did the projection and we spotted the likely cache holder further over, so off we went trying to count steps, but as everyone has a different length stride, we ended up in different spots. Still we got to the general location, and it didn't take long to find the cache. TB out as its been hanging around here long enough! TFTC
Travelled a total of 9.75 km today, which took us about 5 hours to do.

Started the hike at Kamo through the Pukenui Forest with the family and Rednuam6 this cache being the last on the list before we got to Barge Park. TFTC
It was great to have an excuse to revisit the Brothers again and the Grandie and I had no trouble finding the well hidden cache. All nice and clean and dry inside. Log has some interesting reading and lots of treasure for the Grandie to check out; he choose the empty bullet case and every second tree or rock or root, horse jump and ME got "shot" on the way back.
We left a badge and a lizard.
I picked up Tigger TB, he has been there way too long and dropped of Della's Monkey, lets see if she can swing out of this serene spot.
After we packed everything away we found a plastic fish on the ground among the leaves and cones, it had been chewed a bit by and animal/possum, but it looked like it may have been dropped by a previous visitor so we slipped that in the cache too.
Thanks so much for keeping this cache going.

Finally made it to this great cache. First time we couldn't figure out where the track starts and then for a long time it just seemed too wet for fun. Today was perfect.. sunny and with the track dry and easy. Lovely walk and the kauri are magnificent. Amused to find about half the signatures were from non-geocachers. One did a great rave about how selfish we were and boring. Another wrote a note for SaltyCacheNutz and barney to tell her that dogs weren't actually allowed!!! signed by a pest control officer! All dry and full of nice goodies. Thanks a lot.
Found with butters*& kenny897 ages ago,now that I have a username & computer access logging now.TFTC.
Long walk, went straight ahead instead of following directions and went slightly off course, slipped down a bank and cut myself on some vine. Eventually found where i was meaning to go, finially got up top of the hill and found the very large puriri, GPS wasn't working so had a search around there for gz, as I thought it may have been, but NO. lol. Kept walking up the track and ...WOW. How could that be missed, well by tree cover obviously, Lovely trees, Beautiful.
As all the planters of this cache have moved overseas, thanks to all for just checking on it and making sure it's alright- it's a lovely walk!
Mamoose here with a note to note that there is a family who can maintain the cache for us locally. Ta!
Impressive trees, heaps of tui around today. We sat for a while and just listened to the Kauri leaves dropping all around us from this huge tree.Did with Kenny897 and Mitch.TFTC.
nice day for a bush walk, track was rugged from bottom of gully to the top, found the cache ok, awesome trees. trinkets in and out.

Enjoyable walk in to visit Teina and his big bro. No mud problems today, tracks were reasonably dry, many thanks for showing us this magnificent pair.

Thought we would check the cache on our way to look for "Crash Site Memorial"... Since Little Bro appears to be very infrequented, we decided to rescue the lonely "Cecil Percy" geocoin & move him along to some new scenery.
Turns out Little Bro has had one visit since our last; just not logged online; Nice to see there is now a proper logbook again. The carpet of golden kauri leaves was beautiful in today's autmn light; shame I didn't bring a proper camera

I have been to the park before to watch my horse in some pony-club events a few years back... but still had no idea about the 2nd field with the more permanent jumps! We had fun just checking those out, LOL We did wander on a bit further and finally found the track and proliferation of orange markers, as opposed to the one lonely one at the start of the field. Lost all GPS coverage in the bush, and we were so busy huffing and puffing we went all the way to the ridge and crossroads. Can't wait to try the track that leads all the way to Whau Valley! Finally we pulled out the notes and once we read them carefully, finding the cache was easy.
The logbook was not in the container, but sodden & gooey in it's bag at the bottom of the other bag. The contents in the cache were clean & dry so put an "emergency log" (sheet of paper in ziplock) inside dry cache, and left soggy one where we found it as we didn't want to taint & spoil the other contents.
It was a great walk! Nice to find a decent bush walk where our 4-legged friend is allowed. Thanks for the cache

ADV's coords helped tremendously to find the track. A great specimen at GZ. No luck finding the cache tho - maybe next time. Cheers - M@
Found on second attempt as you really have to read the clue, great trees and wonderful adventure. Magical place Thanks for this one. TNLN.
Knocked the bastard off!!!
Second attempt after taking the wrong track last time, and ending up on the other side of the gorge and not being able to cross.

Great first cache for 2008 for TT. Just loved the walk, although after a fair bit of overnight rain the grass was pretty wet. Thanks to ADV for the helpful co-ords, although the instructions work once you see the hole in the rock.
Wow these trees are magnificent, we so enjoyed this area. Wonderful! TFTC

Found the instructions rather vague in getting to the start of the track as there are two separate horse jumping fields, the second being very much out of sight from where I parked. Eventually managed to find it by simply heading NW, more or less.
Thoroughly enjoyed the walk though and the very impressive sight at GZ, well worth it and recommended. Orange markers are a little hard to follow in places, especially just after the stream crossing. I suggest others watch them carefully and ensure they are moving from one to another all the time.
Subject to owner approval here's a couple of waypoints that will help;
"hole in the rock" jump. S 35deg 44.250 E 174deg 16.226
start of orange markers S 35deg 44.111 E 174deg 16.123
Great cache, many thanks.

Loved the walk in the bush. Was worried with no GPS signal but it all came right. Out TB Many thanks for bringing us here, loved it.
Thanks for bringing us to this awesome spot in the beautiful lush bush. Enjoyed the walk even thou a bit slippery after all the rain. The Baby Bike TB, we picked up,wasn't much help negotiatng our way out! TFTC
Just confirming travel bug wound around a wee toy bicycle, has instructions to travel westward around the world to Vermont, USA. Cheers!
