November is the month for off-road caches so Peppa and I have come to the northern Sunshine Coast area for some 4-wheel-driving fun. With the prediction of lots of rain in the lead up to today, Miranda was packed with all kinds of recovery gear, most of it still in its original packaging. The evil series has been on my to-do list for a few years so I was very happy to be finally here. Having a great time bumping our way along the power line track, maybe we should have put Peppas coffee in a sippy cupNo problem finding this cache. Thanks for the fun Scrub Bull and Scrub BullFind #4762
Davinells had a plan it involved a dirty weekend in and around Nambour, Eumundi, Cooroy, Pomona and Imbil Concentrating on the off-road vehicle attribute means were in Miranda going places only Miranda can We only had to refer to the owners manual once during a huge day of caching thats a success Im sure theres a carwash in NambourDavinells has been banging on about these caches forever, so its good to be finally hereThanks dahumbug my coffee from Pomona is still hot, although it is no longer completely inside its cup
One of the many stops on my early morning adventure with dixie_gooner.
Reading a previous log which mentioned ‘finding the cache before even starting to look’ - I asked the question of what that meant. We’re here aren’t we? We’re looking for it?
Until there it was - in front of us before we had even reached GZ let alone begun our search.
Another one in the kitty and a successful venture.

I am on the final day of a 5 day roadtrip with Marcussjd9 and we stayed overnight in Noosa. We got up early so as that we could grab a handful of caches before we had to check out.
We were just arriving at GZ when MJD9 asked what qualified as finding a cache without looking for it. At the same time I spotted the cache and explained that, that qualified.

11:02:00 AM. Happened to be in the area so made a quick detour to the cache. An easier find than we expected. Log signed. Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull.
When we were at the Rutherglen Mega, I spent a lot of time logging each cache. So, today I am trialling a template for logs.
Got this be on second look. A good hide almost in open!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Scrub Bull

Our walks through this entire area today had been devoid of any other people.
It was peaceful and there was literally nobody else around.
So, when we arrived at GZ, it was such a surprise to have three cyclists riding past, just 18 m from GZ.
We said hello, exchanged greetings and then they continued.
It was then time to head into the bush and find this one where all is safe and well. Name added to the logbook.
Thanks Scrub Bull

While cruising around the yurol forest on the e tredley, this cache was next up on the hitlist.
With such a unique d/t i have now only found three of these.
A relatively quick find of another big ass ammo tin, log's a little damp.
Thanks scrub bull for the adventures in here.

I come to Cooroy every second weekend to do changeover with the kiddos mum, but I never seem to be able to get these. Either I'm in the wrong car, or it's raining, or I just ran out of time. But today I left early, in the right car, and wasn't too wet. I was in the forest picking up some of the Evil Series (ran out of time to finish it)
Entered the state forest along the power line track, that started as a nice easy drive before really making me pick my lines up some of the hills. I wasn't worried I wouldn't get up, I was afraid of falling in some of those drain holes and never coming back to the light. But I survived and had a blast.
This one was found with very little fuss, the cache itself was a bit damp, but I mean it's in the forest so what can you expect. All in all though, everything was ok. Signed log and replaced as found, onto the next one.

Day 3 of our weekend geocaching adventure with RoddyC, hatzofff and Snickersallan, we are continuing our adventure by 4WD today. Hubby came up for the day and is driving us around the caches in this area.
Unfortunately the hope for dry tracks were dashed by the storm that went through the area last night. Most tracks were still accessible but did make for an interesting drive. Our 4WD is quite capable and hubby a great driver so no problems.
There has been some tree felling around the forest but managed to get to this one easily.

This being our last day of our stay in the lovely Pomona area and hoping the heavens are not going to open as they had done so last night. Turned out to be a nice but cloudy day and our mission was to complete the EVIL series and a few other caches along the way.
We were expecting this one to take a long time but we managed to find it in a timely manner.

I contacted GeoNayfee and said I was looking at doing the evil series of caches at Pomona and a couple as we passed. It’s an early morning trip as I want to be home by mid-afternoon, not a big day, but we are going to have to leave early. Yeah sounds good and with a leave pass granted we were off. A 4 am start for me and a pickup along the way saw us arrive in Pomona by 6.30 am. To keep my cache a day and my trad a day challenges going we picked up a couple along the side of the road first. A short stop for some breakfast and then we were off caching the evils or so we thought.
A wrong turn into the wrong forest saw us doing some 4 wheel driving on some very turned up tracks and then, oh shoot, we were stuck. With all the rain and mud there was no way of getting up that hill in the clay…. 2 hours later with the ruts filled in and the centre mounds dug up, we finally got out, only to find the next issue ahead and then the next. 3 and a half hours later we were finally out and back on the right path. Hmm so much for the early caching day.
OK, then the day picked up and we were off collecting all 6 of the evil series and a few trads in the area as well. It was a fun filled day, I can see why the names of the caches came about, that landscape in certain parts was just pure evil. Plants that reached out and grabbed you, grass that was 6 foot tall, trees falling beside us, vines with 2 inch long thorns and then there was the walking in creek beds and water crossings; what an adventure.
All in all it was a good day, I think I made it home around 630 pm, hmm early day lol. Thank you for the puzzles and the caches, most are still in good condition with some needing a little attention of broken lids or damp log books. I have given 3 favourite points to certain caches, thank you.

Chamad got in contact with me yesterday to see if I had any plans for today, which I didn't, but I wasn't sure if my partner had anything planned so I had to double check with her since she likes to make plans at the last second, but luckily I got the all clear from her and was able to tag along with Chamad for an epic adventure up to Pomona. Huh, where the hell is that? I had to ask where that was because I've never heard of the place before, so I checked to see where we were going. "Wooow! That's a decent trek! But with most of the target caches being off road we decided to take Chamad's beast because my little Broom Broom wouldn't make it over a tiny pebble on a good day.
The day started extremely early and I'm NOT a morning person so it was rather difficult to get out of bed at that time (4:30am), but after some food and a decent sized coffee I felt more alive and ready for the day ahead. I meet Chamad at my local shopping centre, left my car and we made our way to Pomona.
Our target caches for the day were the Evil series and wow, they were evil, the whole area was evil. Getting bogged for several hours, walking through spider webs and getting whipped in the face by strange plants that cut up my face. Yeah.. It's an evil place that's for sure, we also picked up several trads along the way as we made our way around the area.
All in all, despite the blooded face and getting bogged it was a great day out today. At times it looked like it was going to rain, but thankfully it didn't, the tracks were already soaked with water, so we didn't really need anymore.
Thank you for placing these caches for us to enjoy. Some were more evil then others, but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience here today.

Today I conquered the Evil series. I was chatting to another geocacher last weekend. Was told they weren’t to hard to solve. To back that up, I started solving one of them when we were talking. A few minutes later had it solve. Then I just started laughing. She look at me to see what was funny. I told her I just finished solving it.
4 days later had finished all 6. But that’s just me, 3 of them were just causing me problems. I was using the wrong solver program. Now that was the easy part.
I check will Grannysmith1947 if she would like to come along us usually she said yes. We bought along Miss Millie. Maybe we shouldn’t it turn out to be a National Park whoops .
So the day was planned to pickup 5 traditional and 6 mystery, found fist traditional at 8.40am and the last mystery was found at 1.40pm. One we had to MAF because that one was causing us problems.
Oh, that wait awhile caused us a lot of pain. I am glad that I read some of the logs. I went up with long pants on. But should had wore long sleeve to. And maybe a helmet as well. I came away with scratches behind my ear. Ouch.
I will not be going back. Lucky I have a 4wd because I needed it with all the wet tracks.
After them we grab two letterbox so that now 50 I have collected. Now only have one letterbox left on the Northside of Brisbane a few Southside and all clear up to north of Gympie. . And I cleanup two DNF I had. So 15 caches for the day.
Sorry for a generic post.

On a walk in Yurol today, ticking off the last caches in this forest. Now my map is all yellow smiles ️. Classic SB hide, this one. Thanks for all the fun and discovery!!
Heading north today to clean up the Evil series in Yurol State Forest, knock over a milestone in the process and then clean up at a local CITO. I got a nice early start - a few caches around Cooroy , some great coffee then I hit Yurol State Forest. I still needed a few caches to make my milestone align.
The track in was greasy, so I was glad of the 4WD, though taking care - Crooked Shaz has told me not to bother coming home if I scratch or ding her car.
A nice quick find here. Thanks Scrub Bull

Yesterday while picking up the Bones series traditionals with Wayn0 the D/T rating of these hides caught my attention.
Last night I set about solving them. I surprised myself that within 15 minutes I had coordinates for the series. Either I'm becoming more familiar with puzzle types or it wasn't as easy to plug info into decoders 10 years agos when these were placed. Having said that I've found plenty of D1.5's that deserve a higher rating so I was happy to get out today with Wayn0 at the wheel of the sure footed Suzuki Jimny and make the finds.
We parked up within about 100m of all the hides and bush bashed through the undergrowth with the 'wait-a-whiles', leeches and ticks taking their payment of blood (only 1 leech and 1 tick for the day - a first for me, adding to the adventure.)
Sidetracked from the mysteries to collect this one. Always like an ammo can.
Thoroughly enjoyed the series, it was satisfying to collect the challenging hides.
Thanks for hiding.

Found this one while targeting the evil series. Parked within 15 m of the cache and it didn’t take too long to spy it’s hidey hole. We had an amazing time driving all over Yurol SF. We didn’t see any other cars. Had to reroute and take alternate tracks due to the huge mud puddles blocking the way. Fallen trees didn’t bother us. We just drove straight over them!

This piece of bushland had been earmarked as it contained some DTs that both vennfamily and I were chasing.
After walking in circles in this lovely bushland it was vennfamily that made the find (luckily I found the first cache of the day else it would look like I had just come along for the drive).

I have had the Evil series solved for some time and needed two of them to complete the second loop of my D/T grid. Today was the day that I decided to head up and find them. Vegan Cachers, although having done the series previously, offered to join me and, at the last minute, nikid1 announced her availability to join us as well. We got through the target caches in quick time while having a lot of fun and even managed to grab a few bonus caches on the way home.
After collecting the first half of the series, it was time to collect one or two of the traditionals that are here. We arrived at this one in no time and I had a quick look here and there before searching other places. Then I noticed a sly grin on Mr VC's face. He had found this one previously and wasn't telling us where it was but I could tell that I had missed something so I backtracked and found it in the first place I looked.

There's nothing like a Scrub Bull cache and today whilst driving past the Yurol I had a little spare time and thought that I might grab another one of these forest caches.
After a load-up of the GPSr, this cache was looking pretty good. Upon looking a little closer at the satellite imagery on the phone, it looked like it could be done in the car I had and time that I had.
Out I went onto the dirt tracks and was glad to see that the rain a few days prior had all dried up and allowed a nice and safe 2-wheel drive. With a dust cloud behind, I was soon where I needed to be. With the car parked at the geopark, I quickly disappeared into the bush.
En route to ground zero, there was one spot that just cried out for a cache. With closer inspection I was glad to see that my suspicions were correct and there was my favourite type of cache container waiting to be found.
With my name added to the log, I placed this ancient cache back home to await the next lucky finder.
Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull. All is in perfect order here.

Our second for the day, having a good walk through the forest. Thanks Scrub Bull
It had rained all night and with the morning it showed no sign of easing. We had solved these caches early in our caching life but had always assumed that we would have to climb hills and walk Kms so had avoided them on every occasion. Today we were all geared up for a fantastic and Evil adventure with dahumbug who had so generously offered to ferry us around the area. When we met up we queried the state of the roads but dahumbug assured us that his 4WD (and his driving!) could cope. So off we went for one half of one our best day's caching. Picked up the traditional caches in the area before our final onslaught on Evil 5.

Saturday. Slow Puncture was on the road again with Linden/6 to get some more needed caches in the Sunshine Coast hinterland area.
This one was off the beatedn track, yet was a quick find when we got to GZ. The container is in good condition.
This was the 7th out of 11 caches we found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]Scrub Bull[/Blue], for bringing us here.

Another day of crazy caching planned with KC of Slow Puncture.
Having solved all the necessary puzzles we were ready to hit the trail.
The Evil series was our target list with, hopefully a few extras along the way.
A nice quick find here.
All in great condition.
It certainly is lovely in this neck of the woods!

We attempted this cache on the return trip for another cache in the area.
This cache was found fairly quickly, log book signed and the cache returned as found.

I had been nearby to grab another cache so since I was without 4WD decided to take the walk to this one and have a look. Turns out I think I could have driven pretty much the whole way in my car, but a walk is always nice.
It took a little to get to the cache but nothing to tough and soon I was taking a look at GZ. I checked a couple of spots before spotting it in a more obvious spot and soon had my name in the log and heading off.

Bad gps coverage under the tree canopy required us to head back to the road to take bearings a couple of times. Finally got the spot and the young fella spotted the cache right away. Thank Scrub Bull
Out with 5Meerkats bashing around the back blocks hunting the Evil series. We took a quick diversion to grab this one, a nice easy find in a great location before getting back to on target. Thanks Scrub Bull
Parked 30m away and shuffled the wrong way first. Then took the cache from the wrong side. A leap over to the easiest side and the cache was easily in hand.

Off on a caching adventure with Nyssaflutterby.
It was shaping up to be quite a hot day today and I was glad that trusty Spangle helped us get closer than we thought we could go, on most of the Scrub Bull caches. We biked or walked the rest of the distance to the caches!
Since we were in the area anyways, we couldn't pass by without collecting this one!
A bit of a wander around GZ before Nyssa laid her hands on this one!

Team DNA and myself were on the mission to tackle the EVIL series, we noticed this one in our travels and traveled the extra few metres to create a smiley. At GZ, after a small hunt I spotted the beasty. We left our marks and then replaced the cache as found.

We were out today with Fangsoki and Sweet_bee and were set for a great day out in the area This one was next up on our list for today, and we approached carefully, and made our way quickly to GZ After a short walk, we soon spotted the cache, and added our names to the logbook Without any fuss, we returned back to the car, and headed off in search of a few more around the area

So it wasn't just the Captain who got covered in mud due to the "log throwing caper" hmmmmm...
Anyway, all good fun!!
At GZ with so many searchers, cache was quickly found.

Getting to this one was an adventure. A deep muddy hole in the track certainly caused some entertainment as the cars in the convoy made their way through, or tried to... I managed to get splashed in mud despite being well away from the action, and the mud that stuck to the cars kept finding its way onto things every time you brushed up against them. All part of the joys of caching. The well hidden cache was soon located with the assistance of all the searchers in the group. Tftc.
Found as part of a group attack in the area today. A nice big cache so left a TB for the next finder...off for some four wheel driving now. Thanks Scrub Bull...a nice start indeed.
This was the fourth cache for our motley crew today. I was spending the day caching and four wheel driving with Captain Terror, Fangsoki, Agap2, P`Prime, Crew 153, Herbz, Swellerfungus, Jeff from SeffnJarah and KJTJMJ.
However it took us a while to get to this cache. There was one part of the track that was quite moist. Fangsoki jumped out of the Canyonero to give Captain Terror and I guidance through the mud. The Captain, as always, perfected the maneuver and we were soon on the other side.... unfortunately the Herbz mobile wasn't as lucky. It got a little bogged... Mr Herbz managed to reverse it out and it was up to the rest of us to get him across.
Captain Terror, Agap2, P`Prime and I gathered wood to put under his tyres and Fangsoki readied the snatch strap. P`Prime and I got in a little bit of trouble from the Captain at one point as we threw a log down and mud splashed up and covered him head to toe.
The Captain managed to pull Herbz out using the strap, then the other guys managed to drive through using our wood for grip. We were eventually at GZ and the cache was found without any other problems. Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull.

I had been invited to join Net88 and a group of other cachers on a run on the Evil caches to complete her D/T chart.
Our progress along the track was delayed by a gigantic pothole which had to be negotiated.
Once we had that behind us it didn't take long to get to the cache and have it signed by the masses,
Thanks Scrub Bull

#253 @ 11:39am - Since it was my birthday weekend I decided I wanted to finish off the Evil Series and the surrounding caches. We packed a lunch, joined up with some friends and off we went for the day.
This was our third for today. I tried to convince everyone to have some fun driving through the mud but after eatmorchikin's incident it's probably a good idea that we didn't. TFTC Scrub Bull

Well we have a story to tell about this one! We were about 60 mtrs away from GZ when we became completely bogged in thick sticky clay like MUD. Yes, I could barely squeeze out of my door as the thick mud was up over the kick board. We drive a Holden Rodeo 4WD so getting bogged shouldn't happen. Wheels were spinning and we were going no where. After trying various bits of wood etc around the tyres Mr EMC decides to inflate his tyres a bit to get a bit more ground clearance. The under belly of the car was just sitting on MUD. He tells me this will take 10 mins so I said I was off to find the cache. Left the kids in the car and off I go. The cache was found in seconds and as I was walking back I see a van driving along towards our bogged vehicle. I was thinking how are they going to make it; well they obviously can't whilst we are stuck but I couldn't see them getting through. Anyway, it was the nicest couple in the car and they helped to tow us out. We were so thankful. How fortunate was that. You can drive these trails for a whole day and see no one, luckily they arrived at a very appropriate time. Must be good karma going - I rescued two dogs yesterday from the centre lane of a 3 lane highway to save them getting run over. I stopped in the middle lane, opened my door, called these dogs (which thankfully came over to me) and dragged them into my car and then had to drive off and find their home. Thanks for another awesome cache.
Out hunting Evil caches with WTF21 and were also finding the traditionals as we went. We stopped the truck just before the mud pit heading into this one. We hiked 600m for a DNA on Bryophyta, before attempting this one on the way back. Searched all the obvious places without luck, but then Dr THR found it hiding in the open. It's interesting how well something so big can hide so exposed yet hidden. TFTC Scrub Bull.
Ok we had gone ahead and bought the 4WD – no, not a Jeep and I was itching to try it out on some suitable terrain. With a couple of 5/5 D/T rated caches on offer, the EVIL series in the Yurol forest seemed the perfect choice. No convincing was needed to get ‘The Hunting Rabbit’ interested in coming along as this was a puzzle series we had solved over 18 months ago.
We worked our way down from the Northern end with Mrs THR showing her uncanny knack of making quick work of difficult finds picking up Evil numbers 1 to 4. Great hide at Evil 1 and a favourite point there
We made a quick side trip out to collect Woodland Wonder while Mrs THR had a rest in the 4WD and this time THR made the find of a very well camouflaged ammo box.
No luck at Bryophyta – all we got was wet thanks to the rain that had now settled in we both agreed though that the D/T on this cache is a bit underrated!
Next it was time for a Cooroy Coffee. Finally I made a find! Loved the cache container here, didn’t expect that at all – another favourite point.
Live Wire was nice and easy in the middle section before tackling the 5/5’s. This time I was the lucky one to make a lucky very quick find of our first 5/5 cache at Evil 6 gotta make that a favourite!
Heading on along the now slippery and muddy track to Evil 5 we met up with ‘dahumbug’ who had come out to see how we were progressing. I’m happy to admit that without his help I doubt we would have ever found the cache – terrible reception in the scrub made GZ very difficult to pin down and the cache location.... lets just say that was darn EVIL!!
All up, a great day out 4WD’ing and caching with The Hunting Rabbits.

This was Operation Yurol Forest with Papa Smurf 12 and Kiki97. These guys introduced me to the Evil series a few weeks back, not long after I started caching. On that day we had found all the clues to the Bones series, and they threw Evil One at me to solve in 5 minutes flat... Which was easily done. After that day, Us three were always threatening to come back and finish the series. I definitely have to say that Evil One is the best, and Evil 5 was the hardest to find.

This was our fourth cache for the day, and the DT rating had me a little excited. We found the right track to go eastbound past the driveway to private property. This was while we were in the north end of the park, and set about tackling these caches from the top down. After we set upon the trail, it was not very long before we were at GZ and the cache was in hand.
Always the pleasure Scrub Bull.

This was the seventh today.
Out with Brother Colin finding a few in the area that had eluded us in the past.
Finding the right road to this one was the easy bit, negotiated a couple of rough patches that were very soggy during the earlier months of the year.
Parked up on the side, short walk put us at the GZ, then the hunt began.
A while later, cache found.
All good with the cache.

Out and about today with Sweet-Sour looking for caches.
After lunch and a hike up the nearby HILL we went looking for easy park and grab caches.
We parked about 100m up the road as the ute was not going to get past a particularly rough section of the road.
After much going around in circle for awhile the cache was found
We both looked at it and did not recognise the suspicious....
A good dose of cache blindness for both of us.
Thanks for the cache.

It had been two decades since my school days in Pomona so I was keen to check out the area again and of course some of the caches.
I met up with Fangsoki and PPrime in Brisvegas. With backpacks packed, puzzles sorted and the trusty Fangsoki 4WD geomobile fuelled up we were ready to go.
Find number 13
The Fangsoki geo-mobile did a great job taking on the muddy track. We churned through a particularly challenging section to get to this one without any problems.
Thanks for the cache Scrub Bull. Cheers!!

Having climbed the nearby Mountain, and having climbed the nearby Mountain again, Radnoski and I, under the gentle support from Mister Fangsoki in his Powerful Purple Paj were heading bush for some of the local question marks. On the way in we stumbled over this wonder in the woodland (see what I did there?)
