The final cache for the afternoon, I startled a wallaby on the way down through the grass. Was accompanied by a Rufous Whistler at GZ. A quick find, though the mozzies were pretty relentless. I grabbed the TB that wasn't properly logged into the cache, and went on my way. Thanks jg047!Today is day three of our holiday in Hervey Bay, and today I did a mixed day of shelling and caching around Point Vernon. Mainly targeting the East and North sides for shelling, then heading inland to clean up the rest of the caches in the area. I finished up the day finding a few in Eli Waters, before returning back to homebase. A productive day out indeed on both fronts!Heading north on a 5-day trip to Hervey Bay with the family has allowed me to go out and cache the surrounding area. I was able to cram the tredley into the back of the warthog and travel north, stopping a few times. Once to maintain a cache, and another to find a cache. I finally set sights on my destination, Torquay. Over the course of the few days I had, I cycled the new rail trail series of geocaches, did a combined day of shelling and caching Point Vernon, took a drive through Booral and River Heads, travelled to Howard, Torbanlea, Toogoom and Dundowran. On the final day I spot cached as I made my way south, stopping in Walligan, Susan River, Beaver Rock and Owanyilla. I then fought the southbound traffic for a while, then detoured via Yengarie and through Tiaro back to the sunny coast. All things considered, a great holiday and a productive one for geocaching! a MASSIVE thank you to all the COs that I found the caches of along the way!
Out for the day caching with ToucanKB and Danielle46, signing as KTD. Nice stroll to the cache. Fast find when there. Tftc.
Out enjoying the morning and headed to this cache. I love the places we go while geocaching. Found the cache. Signed the log and returned to where I found it. Thanks jg047. All good with this cache.
Came to Bundy for a few days for CCC's (YOF) event and an overnight stop in Maryborough on the way home.Detoured along this area, eventually, after google maps lost the plot yet AGAIN!! What a cwazy wabbit that is!! Quick walk in and find. With no planning at all, I arrived at low tide so nice and dry and no sandfies. TFTC
Currently staying at Hervey Bay, today we decided to pick up a few caches along the way and this was one of them.
Enjoyed exploring the area, and your cache was one we found along the way.
Many thanks for placing this cache and adding to our geocaching experience today.

2/4/2023 Find #5997
Day two of our Easter Holiday trip, and we were starting the day by heading from Maryborough to Hervey Bay to grab a few particular caches in our list before continuing our journey to Rockhampton and finally stopping at our week’s destination in Yeppoon.
A quick stomp in to the bush and we were surprised to see a number of rather large bunnies here. Sooo cute! But they hopped off before I had a chance for a photo opportunity.
Cache found and signed as Yep23 for the group of us to save time and log space.
Thanks for the cache jg047.

On a day trip to Hervey Bay, we couldn't miss not finding this one. It was a very pleasant cool day with no pests around to bother us searching at GZ.
Thank you jg047 for maintaining this quite old cache, it was a pleasure to find

I have eyed this cache off for many years but read never keen to fight the mosquitos. Someone mentioned that this is an oldie, so that heightened my desire. This morning I decided to pile on the insect repellant and go grab it before my shower.
Cache was quickly found and I can't say I encountered and critters - other than what was on the container. Frog- like, spider-like....I clicked it off too fast to get a good look!

I have always avoided both the Eli Creek and Ibis Surprise caches as I am not a fan of mosquitoes!!! However I am working toward my 700th find and running out of options in Hervey Bay!! So today I took an early morning adventure to these two caches in hope that the mozzies would be having a Saturday morning sleep in!!! How wrong I was!! They were everywhere!! Anyway both caches were found and I am happy to finally have two yellow smiley faces on the map at Eli Waters!!

A lovely sunny day around Hervey Bay in the company of Grey Nomads. Fish ‘n chips and ice cream and, naturally, there were a few geocaches.

Figures, old caches usually survive in out of the way places or mozzie populated neighbourhoods. This cache fell into the second category, right next to a creek infested with mozzies and their smaller sandfly cousins.
Entering the scrub, it was a short bush bash to find the cache. No mozzies but there were a few welcoming sandflies. Glad to find this cache reasonably quickly and get ourselves away, thanks to all for keeping this oldie active. Now it's beer o'clock!!

Part of any trip has to be gathering up any older caches we come across as part of a larger challenge.
Team JAGT (or some other acronym of our initials) was out today gathering caches. Old cache to finish our day. Thanks for replacing!
10.00 hrs. I have replaced with a new container and logbook in the same position. Maybe the high tides and some flooding has washed it away.
I also dropped a Tiny Geocoin to continue its travels.
PLEASE COVER WELL TO KEEP SAFE.

Coordinates definitely take you to where it would have been. A fun little trek through some bush and near the creek!
Like the last entry. Found the location. Checked all surrounds. Definitely appears to be missing. . .. grumble grumble.
No! Tragedy! A DNF even after the last finders provided an exact photo of the cache and location. We found the spot which was the only likely place in the area but is was vacant. We checked around on the ground in case it had become dislodged but we walked away without a find. Grumble, grumble.
Nice little walk through the bush, except for the mozzies. Easy find, TFTC.
Oh, your pen is dead.

Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that i can claim the finds or not as the case may be. TFTC.
29/6/21 Staying in Harvey Bay catching up with my Parents who have travelled here for a visit. I am on holidays from Mackay. Beautiful sunny weather today. TFTC SL
In April 2013 we logged this cache as a DNF, today we rectified this DNF and we are very happy to have a smile in this position. A favourite from us for the cache still being out there for such a long time. SL TFTC
After a lunch at Pialba, we headed out along the coast to get those caches there.
The area has grown a lot. The Rosentreter Lane now a big road.
The area around GZ still nature, but for how long?

My daughters first day in grade 1 at one of the local schools so I made the yearly trek up to make sure I see her before she starts school and then there when she finishes school. The eight hours in between in filled with caching, gymming (perks of being at a national gym), and swimming down at the beach. Eventually I'll clear the area out, she made be in grade 12 by then however. Found a total of 12 today and this was cache 4.
Brand new estate which is home to some very nice houses, a lot nicer then my country cottage anyway. Parked up on one of the vacant blocks as close as I could before grabbing the GPS, phone and a couple of pens, and trotted off onto the flats. The cache was quickly found and it was nice and dry which was a great surprise.
Thanks for the cache jg047, the cache is in great condition

TFTC. Our time on the Fraser Coast/Wide Bay Area is coming to a close. Today was a good day to attempt some of the caches we had left ,for one reason or another. A good outing 10 finds and a couple of DNFs. But we will be back at some stage.
Looks like a new estate here. Found no problems. Many thanks jg047

An other one in scrub nowhere in particular. But at least it wasn't hidden in rubbish on the ground. Don't you hate that ? A good hide so long as people put a bit of camoflauging back in place. TFTC jg047
Looking for something to fill in time whilst not studying, it was suggested that I finally get around to logging THOSE caches long found but never logged. Some even have funny stories of being visited not only once or twice, but a few even have had a third or fourth visit before realising I've been there done that. The date is as near to the correct day the cache was found. So sorry for the generic and late log.JABs.
This was our first ever find.
Took something and left something. Thanks for the cache.

I had been out early this morning on the geocycle and found a few. I was now in the geomobile and making my way home - on a very circuitous scenic route.
A bit of a dumping ground near GZ.
I walked much further to this than I needed. A lot of development going on around this area. The new roads were not on my Nuvi, nor the Oregon.
It was a nice morning for a walk. A quick find at GZ.

Travelling around Australia and currently staying in Hervey Bay, Queensland for a few days .
So very hot here at the moment. Its been airconditioned caravan or airconditioned car! BUT today we changed that and decided to head out on the GeoBikes for a few hours. Interesting to see the area being transformed ready for the weekend Ironman competition.

Just could not help myself, had to find a few
Had tried to find this one several times over the last 4 years, just couldn't find the right entry point.
An easy find today, it is only about 10m from a new housing estate, you may want to check this out and possibly move it's home.

Thankfully, I had looked at google maps earlier today and noticed that the shortest route here may not be the driest. I deteremined another path here and was bang on the money. I found the cache without too much drama, and made a couple of CITO atempts on the way out. Thanks for hiding this cache. It's in good condition and well hidden. TFTC
