Wow. What a journey. After finding a suitable entrance in, we decided to go off roading up to the large electricity pole. After hopping out of the car, we trekked along the path until we found in side track. We then ventured deep into a there, lots of rubbish and a rusty washing machine passing by us. The direction our gps was pointing us in was totally overgrown, so we made the decision to bush bash through while crouching down. We found the trig and cache. Nice fun and stressful at first find! Found with EjsDad and 4 other people from the fam.
Thanks, was an adventure finding this one, be prepared for some bush bashing! Was able to 4wd close to GZ via entry from Urara Lane. Found with whereizej.
Grahame, broke my way through the Lantana to find the Taree Trig totally overgrown. Cache box is cracked, will replace it on the next visitTrainsport
A trip to cache around the mid north coast of NSW via the southern tablelands. TFTC.That was more than I expected. I park down on the reserve and walked the 550m up the hill. No problem. Nice bike. The closer I was to the cache the thicker the scrub became. I was literally 2m from the trig before I spotted it. After signing I decided to exit the same path. Better the devil you know.
Heading north we picked up a few caches along the way and this was one of them while staying at Taree.
Got this one while doing a GA trip point. Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I enjoyed this drive to the WP's and did some backtracking until we got the correct way up, Geoian at the wheel! We parked near the cache and then walked to near GZ and it was just covered in lantana. Back to the car to get covered up so as not to be cut up. Soon found the rock pile with the trig point above it. A bush bash to it but we found it. A fav from me.
One of the best of the weekend. We will always drive to any cache that we can, so we gave this a run. We got to WP1, and think we headed the right way, but most of the way to WP2, we came to a junction, right behind some houses. Hmmmm. We did see another way, back at WP1, and after reading some logs, we decided to go back, and follow that track as suggested to the fenceline. Only a couple of technical spots on the climb, and we were soon at the top. Chose to go away from the fenceline, and follow the track, and we came to a clearing where we parked, which was 50mtres from the cache. Had a scout around, and its all Lantana. Went back to car, got covered up, including gloves, and off we went, into the thick of it. Soon had rock cairn in sight, with the trig point above it. Cache could be just spotted through the lantana. A bit more bush bash, and had cache in hand. We left a pretty good trail. but it wont last long. TFTC. Fav from me. Would have been a great walk.....
Time for Another Alfyboy Adventure. Left the wife at the pool while staying in Harrington and had around 4 hours to cache around Taree picking up some caches and mysteries.
This was set to be the last cache for me to collect. The information and additional coordinates almost had me more confused on where I was headed. So I added them into my phone pakred the car and set off. Now it was a hot day today, with the sun blaring down on me, felt like mid 30s.
I could get to WP2 as the coords were weird, but I then switched to WP2 and followed the compass. Then found the power lines and made my climb. I then found another trail and got to WP2 ok.
Then I set GZ as the target and chose my entry point. Yes I found the lantana and wearing shorts and T-Shirt was nicely scratched during this final approach. But I must continue, so I kept going until the Trig came into view. Well done for finding this for a cache hide.
Saw the cache not that well covered and SL. Replaced it a little better, then had a drink and made my way back though the sun and heat to the car. Nice little adventure and a FAV for the journey and GZ. TFTC.

Found on my second attempt! Had to bush bash up a watercourse on a slope to get to waypoint 2, so maybe I didn't quite interpret the instructions right, but I got there in the end.
The cairn itself isn't visible from a track, so don't be afraid to bush bash when you get near.
Also, there is no longer a pen in the log (and I forgot mine this time ) so I couldn't sign.i have attached a photo of the cairn for proof.

Found second waypoint and followed north path as per directions, but couldn't see the cairn anywhere
Not sure about the Lantana bashing either, didn't see an obvious place to try and push through it to find the trig.

I came for the trig and there was a bonus cache right there. Hey GC! I enjoy reading your logs of the trigs in your area. So many have only been visited by you. Gives me hope!? Will log the trigs when I get home. Tftc.
Wow,amazing it hasn't been found since 2016,anyhow this evening I parked the truck up at tradelink and walked down the road to a big sign saying the land was DA approved and this was where I entered went down that track for a while till I came to another track, turned right went across a dry creek bed then up the hill to a fence, turned right again towards the power lines and from there easy peasy, this was a good one,why is no one going for it,however if the next finder sees this log it could use a new container as the lid has perished and has a hole in it and it needs a log book,I signed a piece of paper.Really quite enjoyed this one.TFTC.
Found it. I had to hack thru the lantana to the site and then I found there was a nice clear path out. Really enjoyed the adventure GrahamCookie. I love geo caching as where could you find such interesting spots if you didn't have geocachers to show you the way.
It seems a pity that people in the past went to so much trouble to install these trig points and now they are all overgrown and useless.

Out for a quick walk through the bush heading out with the extra banana and our sons making this a boys trip sorry L the walk was easier than we have had in the past due to walking trails every where. Except for the last 40m or so due to the Lantana oh how we hate lantana this made it the first time A had a close look at it which hw now agree's with me about lantana
Wow! Tftc. First to log in over a year!! Was easily found after fighting way through the lantana. But a great little trek so close to town.
We followed he power lines on mountain bikes to get access fond easily with the compass TFTC
Well, finally got here! Tried a few mountain bike style trails, and some went behind the houses behind Bushland Tavern. Eventually came to a spot I had to get off the bike and push up and through. Then onto another fire trail.
Took the bike just off the track (about 45m from the trig), and soon saw the older style trig.
Cache in hand, while the other was swatting mozzies.
Left another ziploc bag, and a mini pre-op marking pen; concept the same as a correct site marker, just a different name.
Took nothing.

Well....all we can say is "We definately did some unnecessary bush bashing today"
Took the wrong road in, or maybe the right road, but got impatient and decided to cut across country.
Next time V wont wear thongs!!
Just grateful there weren't any snakes haha, thank god we only come here once!
TFTC, It was a cool view of Taree to be sure.

Loved the walk through the bush to find this one, think I took the long way round tftgf
We drive to taree with my good friend for 3 days from Central Coast... We find caches all the way...
Great little cache rode up on the motorbike with my dad, only about 10 minutes from my house! found the trig point within 2 minutes and was a pretty easy find. i was more delighted to find out that there was a trig station up there than actually finding the cache! TFTF
10 minutes of serching and found it; thanks cookie maagnificent view , time to find the next one! sincerly Timmadcatt
How good is this, in caching terms. A dnf a while ago to us, and now 9 logs on the page without an actual find log, yeeeew (whatever that sounds like;) Found as the climax to a very busy week. I had just signed a job up in town today so couldn't wait to have another look for this one, seeing it back online(THANKS COOKIE!) Bushland drive was out of action today so I treked(drove) in from Flametree Cl(I can here Cold Chisel in the background as I was turning in here). I only drove in a little bit more than last time so had to make a quick 250m run uphill, through the scrub. Once I was much closer after bushwhacking, I found many more tracks with car tyre marks on them. You must be able to drive much closer than I did. Anyway, I stumbled across this old decaying trig point that looked like it was just about to tumble over. When I removed the cache a massive spider that looked like a funnel web ran out and scared the life out of me. I didn't think they moved that quick!
I was a bit dissapointed that my geobag was in the car, as I had to leave all the great swaps behind today.
Cheers Cookie, from Browngang

1313 Dropped by and replaced the cache. Another 1 litre Sistema container.
WP coordinates are good.

As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
Will try, and get out there (sooner than later) to check on the cache. Have a few to replace with the floods earlier, so will include this one to check on.
We started some serious 4w4ing when we came across a dead Nissan patrol in a creek crossing. That was enough for us to start walking. We gave up with 250m though. Geokids gave up the Chase. Thanks anyway. We'll be back when it dries out a bit. Cheers from the Browngangx3
Wow what a great 4wd in urban taree!
We had no idea this lanfmark was here - an excellent spot for a cache.
Thanks Grahame Cookie

15:15 - Nice walk up the hill. The cache is half full of water and I removed several items that were either rusty or rotten and tried to dry the log a bit in the sun.
While the geowife was showing dogs at the Taree show today, my goal was to log 10 caches on the 10/10/10. This was cache number 2. Parked at the listed coordinates and followed the directions to the letter in getting up there. Don't know about it being a muggle-free area though. When I got up there I found a freshly burned-out Commodore. I could still smell the fire and feel a little heat coming off it. So I notified the cops and the conversation went something like this:
Me: Hey I've just found a freshly burned-out Commodore at the Taree Trig while I was bushwalking.
Cop: Gee and I though we had all the car thieves locked up. What's a Trig?
Me: It's one of those thing surveyors use for working out where they are. Its up a small hill north of Bushland Drive. I think you'll need a 4WD to get up here, or a Commodore if you don't intend on bringing it back down again...
Anyway I finally got him to understand where it was and he was confident they would find it.
Now as to the cache, I found the coordinates about 12 metres out, but it was no issue with the hint employed. Unfortunately the cache hasn't fared too well in the recent rain and it is quite waterlogged. I had brought a TB with me to put in, but thought better of it in the end. I think a water-tight container or at least a bag for the log would be good.
Thanks Graham Cookie!

Found at 2.20pm GAFF1. Took the Suzuki as far as could be taken - fallen trees across the track stopped the vehicle from going any furthar just 220 metres from GZ. As GZ was approached it looked like there was a track that came up from another direction which would have been ideal! Then just 50 metres away from GZ a dive into the bush and suddenly the cairn was found, but the GPSr said to go on another 19 metres. A quick look in that area and it then back to the cairn where the well hidden cache was found about 8 metres from GZ. Thanks Graham Cookie for showing us this spot.
Great little trek.
Cleared the lantana from around the cache fo a bit easier access
Took bouncy ball Left Scout cloth patch

I had been planning to try and find this cache for a while as it is so near to town and potentially a good mountain bike ride.
Now having found it I can't believe how close I have previously passed to the cairn on my bike without knowing it was there.
Took nothing, left nothing, fed the mosquitos. Thanks for another fun cache, the view back towards Taree and over the Lansdown Escarpment is well worth a look.

What a magnificent old cairn. Most of these have been replaced by new concrete ones.
Perhaps the lantana scared away the formworkers.
Luckily for me recent fires have taken a lot of lantana away, so found this one pretty easily.
Nice walk too.
Took "Mighty Reds Magical Medallion"
Left PST bottle opener
Thanks GC

I try to keep an eye on my caches; and now that I'm back from Cairns, with a pocketful of Travel Bugs, thought I'd give this cache a boost. Bringing through: Ikey, Sir Cache-a-lot, Silver Fern, Raffles Rules, Forever Scotland, and Bridge2Bridge ingot. Also Baa and Oink geocoins.
Left a bouncy ball and Mighty RED's Magical Medallion! Travel bug.

The walk up the hill started innocently enough. Just some soggy ground and light overgrowth
But after turning east and starting the real ascent the scrub got a bit thicker and the lantana began to appear.
The last 50 metres or so turned into a hundred and fifty metres as I circled around trying to avoid the worst of the dreaded weed [:o]
But at the top of the hill, hidden in the lantana there was the goal. A long lost trig point
There's not much call for these trig points anymore it seems.
Long gone are the days when this one would have stood proudly on top of a cleared hill top for all to see
Now it is visited only by the occassional curiosity or treasure seeker using the very technology that rendered the trig point obsolete [:o]
Poking around the cairn, I was amazed at the seeming lack of a cache to be found.
But after 10 minutes or so I finally spotted the thing. Camoflague does seem a bit of overkill up here, but it sure was effective [^]
TFTC, I then had to find my way out of the jungle which took me longer than getting in

Been wanting to find this one for a while but haven't had a chance. And so while my dad's on 4 months long service leave and I want to practise with a pack on for a barrington hike, this gave me a good excuse. Besides the grass being overgrown it wasn't to hard walking but getting the cache was the hard part. But I got it but when I sat down to log it I started to feel the pain of the cuts, the warmth of the air and the mosquito's biting. So when I got back to the car I felt alot better.
Took Ntohing

1600 Came along with younger son. The mosquitoes are bad, and the lantana is enjoying the wet summer. Don't forget to bring a large stick and the insect repellant.
Surprised that there was another log entry there (2nd) that I had not seen, or logged yet.
Brought through Dr Quack and Pin & Plate TB's and the Finnish/japan geocoin for some mileage.

WOW! This is not for the faint hearted, the last 50 meters is like trying to enter a fortified castle, with thick lantana guarding the entrance and a plague of blood sucking mosquitoes waiting for any victim foolish enough to get close to the treasure. Getting to the power lines is easy after a good climb uphill. You don't just need the gps to find the cache but it also comes in handy to help find a way out Thanks Grahame I never knew what was up here till now.
This was an awesome veiw 25years ago when i used to hang out in this bush, it has definately changed, the mozzies are still the same though

Nice cache, have never walked in the area before. Very wet after the rain. Yes it is very hard not to get some scratches. Travelling light so TNLNSL & TFTH.
