The third day in Canberra and surrounds for the OzMega Geobash across the Easter weekend.Made my way to the event location for the first time today and enjoyed some of the festivities there throughout the morning. The afternoon was filled caching all over the place with a high priority placed on older caches to help fill Jasmer grids.Another day filled with an amazing variety of cache types and containers were located and with a large group the competition to get hands on the log first was high, with plenty of laughs along the way too. Thanks djtsj for placing Where Eagles Dare for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 16:54 on 29/3/2024.This is find number 8530 for me.
This was a cool cache! I liked the boxs little hidey hole at WP1, where I hightailed it over to GZ. The weather was quite nice and it was a nice little run over to GZ.Unfortunately the container at GZ was waterlogged, and as the (pretty snazzy!) ziplock bags werent sealed, water got into everything. But thats alright, the log wasnt too bad and nearly everything was either plastic or laminated, so I slung the paper log over a real log to dry out (the wind helped a heap in flipping through the pages until they were dry), gave the inside of the ziplock bags a wipe down and left them and the swag in the sun to dry while I read over the reading material. The morning sun was strong this morning, with a beautiful wind coming through, so the cache didnt take too long at all to salvage.Sadly I wasnt able to see the residents mentioned in the laminated reading material or their home I had a bit of a read through of the paper log which dated back to 2008 (and still has lots of room left for many more), and an early entry said they might have moved on prior to 2009ish. It would have been so cool to see back in the day I bet Thanks for the cache! It was a fun experience on a nice day
Visiting from Adelaide to see family for the festive season, and today its time to tackle more caches in the Wanniassa area including some puzzles solved in 2021 that I havent had a chance to get to until todayFound this cache and signed the log. Many thanks for the placement and the ongoing maintenance!
This was a really lovely multi, that had us taking on some great views along the way of this walk.
The waypoint lead us straight to what was needed, and we spent a good hour and a half meandering over the hills here.
Spectacular views from the trigger station at the top.

Came out for a little circuit with Ilmari_the_Red to collect Wanniassa Wander to fill a hole in our jasmer table, and collected this one also en route. A quick find. TFTC!
Lovely to pick this up today. Bit damp in spots after the rain but a very nice walk. Quickly found what was needed at WP1 and off to GZ. All good here and tucked back away for the next finder. Awesome to have this oldie.
Thanks for getting me out and about djtsj
Thanks for getting me out and about djtsj
Spotted a little sign at WP1 and found what I needed to move on. GZ coordinates had me right on the spot otherwise it may have taken a little longer. Thanks for preparing this Multi.

Lockdown has bought a totally different approach to caching with the introduction of homework! Much time for homework in fact. Therefore many more puzzles solved, both as a solo and collective effort. Thanks to my fellow geo buddies for assistance when needed.
And in between there are still some traditionals, though not nearly as many of them left these days
Logs all in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Thanks to djtsj for putting out and maintaining all of these caches for our enjoyment!

Out for a daily exercise walk with The Dog during lockdown in our local reserve on a blustery, warm day (ahead of the cold change). For such an old cache it's great to see everything in such good condition - WP1 was located easily and the necessary numbers found to calculate GZ, which I then collected later in my walk. Arriving at GZ, cache was quickly found in the first place I looked. Cache and log are in good condition. Thanks!
Was looking in a lot of wrong places for a while convinced i knew where it was. Changed up my search area and found soon after tftc
I saw no eagles as I wandered here, but did very much enjoy the walk on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The first waypoint proved no difficulty, whereafter I quickly tracked down ground zero.
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
After gathering the needed info i made my way over to GZ to find it guarded by plenty of roos.
I spotted something and soon had CIH thanks to excellent coords!
From here i started making my way back towards the water tank to the car.
Thanks for the cache

I really enjoyed this multi. I visited the GZ on my way back down the hill to the car. A cool location. Thank you very much djsj. A FP.

Having found our 'Namadgi' multicache far quicker than expected we decided to find this cache nearby. Lovely walk further up the hill where we met a mum and her three children out making the most of the day. That’s just about all the people we saw for the whole day. Quick and easy find. TFTC djtsj.
**Our Day**
Today there was plenty of endurance, cardio stress, body twisting turning, upward leg motions and lots of rock hopping - a good workout.
We climbed around the Wanniassa Hills for close to 4.5 hours for 8.7kms and 425m of ascent/descent picking up 6 caches including lunch up top. We were targeting just the one cache 'A Little Taste of Namadgi' and we weren’t disappointed as the NNP feel was there. However, it was all over after 1.34km having expected/wishing for a 2-3hr experience. What were we thinking - guess we are missing our beloved NNP. That said, we found other caches to complete that we hadn’t considered before today.
On the way home we stopped off at Mount Mugga Mugga to pick up another 2 targeted caches in less than a hour of walking over 2.4kms and 77m ascent/descent. It was very very warm in the sun ️ and out of the wind but very cool in the wind up top - Winter's coming.

Lovely walk, accurate coordinates and a nice hide findable by the kiddies! (With a little help!) Part of our #coronacaching adventure. Our first multi! Tftc!
The cache shares the same name as one of my favourite childhood movies... always good to reminisce about Clint!
No issue following the path and getting to GZ, but then I couldnt find it... and its a regular! I was about to give up when I finally looked at the obvious and sure enough, there it was.

A good little multi-cache here and some nice DT points to go with it! When we reached the final coordinates I thought we had something wrong, as there weren't many options for a cache! But with another closer look I noticed a sneaky spot it could be lurking and lo-behold there it was! Nice hide
Thanks djtsj! The safe hide has meant that this cache has had a long life

A nice straightforward multi. I didn't spot any eagles but then again the sun has set and it's getting dark enough to need a torch. Thankfully I brought one with me. Quite a few swaps in the final cache container making it a bit full actually. Signed the log and returned it to it's hiding spot. I've got more hill climbing to do. TFTC
Having collected the necessary details a few weeks ago, we headed out this morning to make the find. The cache is in good condition and we found it quickly. We enjoyed the walk to get here despite the cold (but sunny) conditions. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
After learning many of the tricks of geocaching by doing traditional caches, I am now going back and attempting multicaches. This was a nice straightforward one. It was laid out in a nice area and I was disappointed that there were not more waypoints to visit on the way to the final location. TFTC
PS I have been aware of the existence of these eagles for many years. And I often wondered how many commuters ever noticed the pairs of wedge-tails circling above them as they were gridlocked on their homeward journey along Erindale Drive.

The fourth find for the afternoon. It was a hot day for a walk. WP1 confused me for a bit, until the GPS settled and then I spotted something that revealed the final co-ords. Easily found. TFTC.

Wp1 was a straight forward well contained hide that had me off into a good direction. Limited places to hide a cache here of this size narrowed down GZ to another well concealed hide. No eagles today although I often spot them soaring while out caching but a large population of very active and curious lizards! They were very amusing and friendly! Thanks for the cache djblrts.
Out with AddictedGamer on a pre-dinner cache run. I expected to go further, but luckily as we had little time, thankfully it didn’t. There are a lot of dead kangaroos on this hill - smelly. TFTC!!!
Out with Dty73 on this lovely day. We had a look around but thought it was not there but as soon as we looked under stuff we had found TFTC!!!
The Omnia Monday evening walk took place on the ridge to Mt Wanniassa so I arrived early and sought out two geocaches. This one was a straightforward find, being more or less on the coordinates. I am not sure what the surprise was supposed to be! Thank you djblrts for installing and maintaining this cache.
No flowers, no animals no muggles. It was too cold, nevertheless enjoyed the short hike to GZ where after a brief search the container was found. TFTC djbirts.
A lovely walk though the Nature Reserve, with many wild flowers in bloom. And some not wild flowers. I took a large bunch of Patersons Curse home to put in a vase. Both the WP and the cache were found easily. A favourite for getting me here to see the flowers. TFTC djtsj.
Found on a nice Canberra afternoon, collecting a few caches around Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve. No eagles sighted, but I did see a little black bird that I didn't recognise. fire burned right over the top of this one, but the cache is safe and well in it's hole, as is wp1. TFTC djtsj
Found on a nice Canberra afternoon, collecting a few caches around Wanniassa Hills Nature Reserve. Decided to pick this up whilst on the mountain bike. WP1 was a bit sneaker, then the next bit was a quick dash and grab. Cache must have been feeling a bit warm when the burn-off was right outside its hidey-hole earlier this year. Lucky, unlike another on the hill. TFTC djtsj

Wanted to stretch my legs so decided to find a couple around this area. I feel like I took a long, unnecessary route but I found it. TFTC
F(H)ound It! 5:30pm
A nice after work meander with the Ridgeo-pup.
I followed the tracks as you suggested and although it may be longer it is probably a faster route.
Startled some heat-stupefied kangaroos out of the shrubbery and I'm pleased to say the RP is not as excited by the sight of them as she used to be. Thanks for the cache djtsj

#911. 39 days in a row.
I headed out for a few finds before my evening plans. This cache wasn't too far from the area I was heading to, so I went for a wander up and down the hills. Waypoint and GZ were both reasonably easy to find, although I didn't really see a particularly simple way to get between the two.

{53} I've been trying to do this for a while. Last week I was thwarted by lightning strikes. Today no problem with the weather. No eagles sighted, but I did see a little grey bird that I didn't recognise.
At GZ I had CIH in less than a minute. Happy with that. Lots of goodies in the container. TN LN SL.
Tks djtsj!

Found at 1225. When I read the title I was worried that there might be some serious hill climbing or even a couple of trees to ascend - after doing 10 multis yesterday and this being my 7th today my legs were considering organising a sit-down protest - but the walk to the starting location was gentle enough. I did wonder if I needed more elevation to collect the numbers, then I spotted what I was looking for.
On approach to GZ I first spotted the cache then the decoy, with the allure of the pile almost making me search it first before I remembered what I'd read in previous logs. The container was retrieved and the cache signed, with no issues found - thanks djtsj.

I was looking forward to a nature park stroll after work so I decided to swing by the area and pick up a few caches.
After grabbing the coords for the cache and a nearby nab on a traditional, I was off to GZ for this one. Once there I checked out one spot and then was thrown off by the decoy pile - so after consulting a past log I reached deep in for the nab! That one's not going anywhere in there! Signed log and replaced and then I was off for another Jeez the roos love lazing around nearby! Good spot for them!
Thanks for the hide, djtsj

Today my grandad and I went on a caching adventure around Wanniassa Hills.
We walked over to WP1 from the previous cache and found the container fairly quickly. I dialled in the coordinates and off we went towards GZ. The light drizzle had just stopped, so it was very refreshing walking through the bush without the hot sun beating down on us. The clouds stayed with us throughout the entire adventure.
We arrived at GZ and started searching. I found where the previous broken cache was (suspicious pile of rocks), so that was a decoy. I finally found the cache deep in it's hidey-hole and reached through the webs to get it. I signed the logbook, replaced and continued onto the next cache.

Out and about in the area so I had a go at this one. Found WP1 pretty quickly and headed off for the next stage. When I got to GZ I had to look around for a few minutes before I found a likely spot, and as I was retrieving the cache a lizard quickly sprinted away and startled me. Surprising indeed! Weird to be in that spot, I only ever see it from the road! Cheers!
8th of 10 for the day, found during a wander around Waniassa Hills.
Keyed in the coords and wandered off to GZ. The hide was totally obvious, probably the wrong spot too. I flicked through the logs and found one amusing reference as to how obvious the hide was (maybe from Utta, but using more adult language). Didn't see the nest as we headed back off into the hills...

I came over this way to pick up a nearby puzzle cache, and was surprised this one was so close. Hey, I have time, so why not have a look.
I had thought that I would be climbing up some unearthly hill judging by the name of it, so I was pleasantly surprised it was a nice easy walk (yeah, yeah, I know the cache description says that! ) through a mob of roos that scattered when I approached. Shame about all the rubbish near here - it would make a good location for a CITO event. SL, TNLN TFTC!

Gooood cache!!! The first hide was excellent. And nice views, for me anyway. The GeoSchnauzers are too close to the ground. We found the first stage, and then went for the second stage. TFTC!! ,

A return visit today to transfer the contents of the disintegrated old container to some new zip lock bags and a sparkling new sistema.
Bundled up the remnants of the old container and plastic bags for recycling.

Great little multi this: I really enjoyed it. I didn't have a replacement container on me, I'll try and organise to get back with a replacement.

Too good of an Autumn day not to be out and about. Great views around here, we had collected others around the area and so we decided to tick off as many as our legs would allow us. Nice little offset multi. Container and bag need replacing.
Found on an afternoon down in Tuggeranong. After getting the NT cache nearby, we walked up the hill in a part of this reserve that we hadn't been before. WP1 was quickly found once at the top. Loved the message written with the GZ co-ords, very true indeed. Walked down the hill then to get GZ, to easily find the remains of what seemed to be a well stocked cache. It's a shame that the container is smashed, because this was a very enjoyable multi to do. Didn't even think of bringing a replacement container, but because of the risk of this being archived by the reviewer in the next couple of months, we may take another walk here and replace it for the owner. Great tour of the area. TFTC djblrts!
Went past here today and found the cache in pieces in a plastic bag. Briefly flirted with the idea of replacing it, but I didn't have the right sized container on me. Besides the eagles have moved out and the cache owner hasn't logged on since June 2011, so I think it is time to clear this one out. If it is archived I will remove the containers.
Missed WP1 on my first attempt but then went straight to it on my second. Had just enough time to get to GZ before an appointment. Cache was laying out in the open. As others have been reporting for some time now, the container is broken, although the log was surprisingly dry.
This cache desperately needs some maintenance. WP1 is in perfect condition, but GZ is a disaster.
The bag was wet inside and I think the owner needs to look at maintaining this one...
Eight find of today. If the surprise at the end was that the cache deperately need some TLC, then yes, I was surprised.
451. I was surprised at the end, the cache was in pieces! But it was a nice multi, and the plastic bag kept it together. Thanks djblrts
Nicer spot at WP1 than GZ (in my opinion). Cache in pieces, but still OK in the bag. Thanks.
One of the local hides that we have been procrastinating on, only because of its proximity! Finally done. No eagles today, although this sort of weather is really better suited to lounging around in ugg boots and sipping milo than cruising the skies.
Although the morning was very cloudy, there wasn't any rain. No so in the afternoon. It was starting to rain quite heavily as we set off for this multi-cache but, as we were leaving Canberra tomorrow, we didn't have an option of delaying our caching. We were able to make a quick find at WP1. After a further 5 minutes we got to GZ where a quick find was made. The cache and its contents were in good condition. TFTC djblrts.
704. A nice stroll around this side of the hill on a cool winters evening. Visited WP on the way up and called in to GZ on the way down. The plastic covering seems to be doing its job. TFTC.
We have put the cache in a plastic bag until you can replace the box. The lid is broken and the container was home to spiders and cock roaches. Cheers
found with csfamily. cache container has a cracked lid and was not hidden very well. may needs some maintence
Enjoyed the walk and am keeping my eyes peeled for eagles! Warm day and a nice breeze to make it bearable. TFTC.
An easy find after a walk spotting many roos. The cache container lid is quite damaged but we had nothing to repair it with, at least everything was dry today even with the recent rains. TFTC.
Saw the magnificent bird while retrieving the cache, fantastic! The container is still looking considerably worse for wear, lid is cracked and while the contents were dry there is evidence of water damage. Fourth cache with the geo family today, now off home so the little one can have her afternoon sleep.

Found at the end of a lovely day's walk with the family, along with Cthu1hu and JessicaAU. Saw the Eagle overhead at the find. Took kids book (Lemon Meringue), left Jumping Bean. TFTC.
Last find of the day with geo_mum and Cthu1hu. Legs getting tired so was glad to find. Saw an Eagle and a butterfly on the way. T:Strawberry Shortcake book, L:Butterfly. TFTC
Found in the company of dagwoodmcd on a brisk Canberra afternoon. Nice area for a walk. Liked the hide at Wp1. As previous logs have noted the cache container needs to be replaced.
Thanks djblrts.
Thanks djblrts.
Neat hide at WP1. When we found GZ, as the previous finder had noted, the container is cracked. We drained the accumulated water, and when re-hiding it, tried to place it in a way that would avoid further water pooling inside the container.
We now get the reference to 'small furry animals', but did not spot the avian domicile. TFT(multi)C

Last Wanniassa wander for the day although I visited WP1 of this first. Box broken
