Well after a whirl wind tour of Tasmania to help with 3 challenges that Im working on, I got back in late Tuesday night then packed the Geowagon and headed off to SA early Wednesday morning to attend the Leap Year Mega and to also tick off some LGAs along the way as well.Well after crossing the border and staying in Millicent, Wellington, Cape Jervis, Kingscote and then in Adelaide for a week and an half Im now safely back in Victoria on home soil. The Leap Year Mega was a great event and I had a ball and another Mega to add to my list.Stayed in Nhill last night as Kaniva was booked out for a wedding and now to make the final trip home. After attending a Wedding in Dimboola I continued down the Hwy.I called in here and soon realised that you cannot drive into here anymore so I parked at the gate and headed in.I followed the track around and arrived at GZ.My GPS was not happy but I eventually spotted the cache and added my name to the log.Now I better hurry up and get to the events. Thanks 2Dudez TFTC.
Camping at nearby camp area, we set off on jetskis to explore the lake buy water. Nice easy find tftc
Today we explored Ballarat and surrounds using geocaching as a guide. We enjoyed travelling through the countryside and visiting new, to us, locations. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
We thought we would have a look at this while we were traveling back towards “town” during the Great Victorian Cache Crawl from Ararat to Ferntree Gully.
We got to the dirt road and the road was a mess. Then we spotted FUF009, who was on the point of leaving. We were thinking the same thing, but we were all happy to walk the odd 800m into the Point.
It’s lovely to have a chance to have such a wonderful CO all to yourself and have a great chat. Thankyou Simon.
We arrived at GZ and we spotted a young group who were fishing under the tree in a very relaxed fashion.
They probably owned the small 2WD car with P plates that had driven where we us older experienced generation judiciously decided to err on the side of caution.
The cache was quickly spied and before long we were walking back to the cars and on our way again continuing on our cache crawl.

Out on International Geocaching Day.
Following the trail of events across the state.
5am start for me let's see what time I get home.
A lot planned as I'm hunting down 11 GC icons along the days travels.
Detoured off the main Rd to have a look. Was going to leave it for another day. But then Riddle pulled up beside me. Well off well went. Got to GZ where I made a quick discovery. Signed the log then headed back to the cars.. glad to have finally gotten this one.

Went for a nice little walk to this one today. There are many people camping by the lake this weekend but luckily no-one near the GZ. Great to see so much water in the lake and a fantastic spot for a cache. Thanks for placing this cache for us all to enjoy.
We are in Ballarat for a few days to complete the GeoTour. The access roads to Sawyers Point proved to be interesting - a little water, mud and deepish ruts in places. A couple Of spots where the car wanted to go sideways! Anyway we drove as far as the we could and scambled past the pile of rocks and the orange mesh blocking the track. A quite walk to GZ and a surprisingly quick find. Thanks to 2Dudez for the access challenge and the cache.
Due to erratic weather locally, and a “Doesn’t care” attitude of the local council, this cache will only be available by foot for an unknown amount of time, as the vehicle track is eroded and has been closed off to all vehicles. There are no signs to say pedestrians can not enter the area, and it is only a couple of hundred metres from the blockage to the GZ.
Well . . . there's plenty of water in there *at this point in time!* Fortunately the water was NOT near the cache so finding it did not require wetsuit/snorkel (or aqualung "stuff"). After a bit of rummaging around the rocks I found the cache so I ("me") can log offically it (which is why you are reading this) and Mrs B (who issues commands as to where I should look) can also log it as found. Got it?

It was a bit of a wet and bumpy ride to the cache site after all the rain we've had, we found the cache and enjoyed the view of the water, quite a few campers around who must have got a bit wet yesterday and today.

A good detour here to find a cache
Plenty water in the lake
And a few campers nearby on the way in.
(Why is there a 'no camping attribute on the cache page ??)
I bounced the geomobile past the Harvees,
and got close 'nuff to GZ.
Time for a stroll
Along the way there was the usual signs of redneck activity
Rednecks just can't go camping without a chain saw !!
How ironic that the revegetation programme many years ago,
is now fueling the redneck's oversized campfires
I wandered onwards,
past the immense piles of toilet paper,
and reached a spot that could only be described,
as having a nice view,
unless you are looking for a geocache [:o]
Yet after a minute of scrambling later,
the cache was spied
Oooh !! We do love ammo tins [:X]
TFTC and tour of the lake shore

After having lunch in Beaufort I slowly made my way to Ballarat finding caches along the backroads.
Made the drive into this cache was an experience, the car isn’t made out for rutted roads, I got within 180m and walked to GZ, a great and amazing place at GZ. Cache was a quick find and is all good

TFTC. Thanks for showing us this side of the Lake. Would never have come to Sawyers Point unless there was a cache there. A relatively quick find. Need to resort to a rock to prise open the container. A peaceful location once you get along a challenging track in.
An interesting place to come, there was plenty of people fishing around the lake today but there was not a soul where we wanted to be. Love these containers they have room in them for loads of swag. SL TFTC
On a few occasions, Ninny Muggins and I have tried to organise a day of caching, but other plans have always got in the way. But today the plans came together as we made our way to Beaufort to Celebrate International Caching Day with an event and some great caches around Beaufort. All 30 caches located with no DNF’s on a perfect day with blue sky.
Ninny was awesome navigating all the large wet obstacle on route to GZ.
After a quick search and good cords the cache was quickly located giving us time to enjoy the lapping waves on the waters edge and the setting sun.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the Cache 2Dudez

Well. The road here was certainly and adventure on its own. The final location was beautiful and the sound of the water was relaxing. Tftc!!
Find #2160 for me. Found at 3pm while visiting the area from Bendigo. After previewing the cache location on Google Earth from home, I could see a track going very close to GZ but I wasn't sure it would be suitable for my 2WD so I was prepared for a walk. As it turned out, I decided to park the car just off the main dirt road still about 750m from the cache since the track in was very sandy and I didn't want to get bogged in it. Although this was 750m from GZ, that was as the crow flies across the water. In reality I believe the walk skirting the lake shoreline was closer to 1km but totally worth it. Loved the lake and the tall wind turbines spinning in the distance on the other side... Once at GZ good coordinates led me to a quick find. Wow, so many great comments in the log-book, so I took some photos of the more interesting stories. I didn't realize the cache was so old! While flipping through the log-book I heard a 4WD drove right past me but there was no way they could see me from where I sat nicely hidden from the track above. Nor could I see them. Thanks so much for bringing me to this wonderful location today 2Dudez and thanks for the cache!
Found today great cache, took a little to spot but we got there in the end. It brought back memories of my father making me climb down the rocks to fish at burrembet great memories
Took the geofamily and the daughter's geodog for a drive this afternoon to try to find this cache which I've had on my AUSmer list for a long time. It's also been nearly 20 years since I've been to this side of the lake to do some tree planting along the lake edge for the city council. And even longer since i came out here to fish with my late grandfather!
In the heat of the afternoon we made our way to the GZ easily in the 4wd and it wasn't long before i found the cache nestled in its hide. And as soon as i started signing the logbook the rain started . Very quickly we all raced back to the geomobile and got out before it was too wet. By the time we hit the bitumen it was fairly torrential so we made it in good time.
Thx 2dudez for placing a cache out here and bringing back many memories. Cheers

With no other excuse to be here than to pick up a smilie, geoson and I left it til the school holidays to make the find without muggle husband. It's a beautiful Autumn day, too nice to be inside! TFTC
Yay. An extended search and gps telling me it was in the water, falls and bleeding we found it. Worth it.
Taking the motor home where I shouldn't, wet getting in grabbed the cache as the rain
decided to let go,panic set in ran back to the bus and returned to the black stuff.
Thanks 2Dudez FTC.

11:48:00 AM. Out to pickup a few caches before we leave the area on a cool day. We took the drive in quietly along the track. Got chased for a bit by a couple of local dogs. At GZ I started a search and ended up back roughly where I started before I found the well hidden ammo can. Log signed and cache rehidden. Thanks 2Dudez for placing this cache.
Found this cache reasonably easily. I liked the hint - thanks for the rememberance of dak's emu mob.
An afternoon of caching saw us (me, hubby, 5 & 6 year old geokids) heading to some of those caches which we just hadn't managed to find yet. A cool spot over this "other side". Pity there is no water. Never the less the kids and hubby explored the dry lake bed looking at the dead carp! Lol. Many thanks
The kids, the dog and i really enjoyed finding, Nugget asked me to favorite it so i did. GREAT Cashe, great location!
out caching with geodaddy. like the cache very much one of my favourite caches. thank you for the cache thank you very very much for leting my daddy and I find that cache.
Have the GeoRetriver and Geo Recuit out for the day. The kids love these ones. Thanks for the hide and a great day out.

En route from Ballarat to Mt Beckworth, we noticed a little green box sitting on Sawyers Point. It was our first visit to Lake Burrumbeet, it is much bigger than we thought. It has some water at present, but is certainly not full. The sun was starting to break through the clouds, making this secluded little spot a delightful place to be. Accurate co'ords had us opening the trusty container very quickly. Eight years on this one is a stayer!
Our thanks to 2Dudez for bringing us here.

After a month tucked away at home/work, it was really great for the two of us to be able to get out and about again, particularly on such a lovely spring day. Decided to go to Ballarat to spend some hard earnt cash, and we eyed off this one for the way home. In fact we've been eyeing this one off for the way home on many other occasions since we started caching, but each time it would be just too late.
Today we not only had enough sunlight left for this cache, but also for a newly published cache down the road, so we ended up with double the fun.
What an awesome secluded little spot. We had no idea it was here - yet again caching has brought us somewhere we otherwise would never have known about. Chunk thinks he might have to bring some rods back one day this summer. We noted in your photos how the lake was dry back in 2007, but today there was water up to the rocks edge. Cache was in good condition and found easily.
TFTC 2Dudez.

A day out was planned and I was a late tag a long. The plan was to tackle a few unloved caches, one being one day before two years in some the beautiful area of Mt. Cole. The day was a successful one, claiming four unloved caches for the day. It was a beautiful, sunny spring day that started at 8am and a late arrival at home of 11pm with some great company and plenty of laughs.
theTritonz and myself had this as one of our targets today. After enjoying the day in Beaufort it was time to head home and also grab a couple more. This was definatly a tough one to get too. The 4WD had it's work cut out for it. Hate to do it in a sedan. A quick find once at coordinates. Stamped and replaced as found.

Found with Mi5sie and Mummymonster1012, on a lovely day out enjoying the good weather and good company, and it wasn't only the geokids having fun and exploring, we all had just as much fun. Didn't realise you could get to this area of the lake, such a lovely place, and apart from a lone fisherman who was far enough away he didn't even see us pass him. thanks for bringing us here, TFTC
Found today with Cherad and MummyMonster1012. Thanks for bringing us here, I didn't realise it was possible to come to this side of Lake Burrembeet. A very pretty area and a great view. Only a lone fisherman further along, I hope he had luck. TFTC
Enjoyed finding this one and kids loved the ammo tin and contents. Did some swaps and also took trackable. Tftc

I stood here for a while enjoying the view, what an amazing place for a cache. I'm a believer that the best caches require a dirt road to find and I was not disappointed. I would have been a little worried if the weather was wet though! What a wonderful spot, thank you so much 2Dudez for taking the time to place this cache. Definitely worthy of one of my favorite points!

Sent Nards down for that one. He spotted it quick and had bit in hand. Left a TB. TFTC.
Found with SupaWitchMing, a great cache, good size, enjoyed the scramble for this one, a little different.
I signed the log, and didn't have any swaps on me.
The track to this cache has not been maintained, and my expert driver in a small car had trouble avoiding pot-holes, which would swallow a large cat.

Have never been over this side of the lake so your cache prompted a look just as you wished.
There was some water here today but it was very low.
You know how much I like these types hides. I wish there were more of them. However do you know how much I 'love' this terrain. Fortunately it was early today so not too hot and the cache was where you would expect.
It was quite scenic here and would be even better when more water fills the lake. Let's hope.

First of the day for 6hinemoa2 and myself on the way to the Beaufort Bash. Thankfully it was dry weather so we were able to drive quite close and with only a short stroll, 6h2 made the rocky descent and quickly had this cache in hand being very mindful of slithering things.

On the way to some bushwalking at Little Desert with Bienvenu, we decided to take a break here and open our caching account for the weekend. Road was a bit slippery in parts but we got through in a 2WD by taking it carefully and trying to avoid the potholes full of water just in case!
Great spot when we got there and we found the cache easily enough after a few minutes at 12:10pm. Drove out a different way by following the road closer to the shoreline, and it was in better condition.

Suscoe was cleaning up a number of caches from the to do list today and this one was found around noon on a beautiful Winter's day.

A nice walk in to GZ and thankfully a very quick find was had.
Log signed and then suscoe took in the amazing views across the lake.

TFTC. Needed the help of the able bodied Tritonz to fetch this one for me Thanks guys.
It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll. So when visiting Sawyer's Point take food and drink for the trip. Yes you are right 2 Dudez, Lake Burrumbeet is a big lake. ALways seemed a bit further to drive , bit further, just to get there. Then GZ was spot on except it was over the cliff face. (Just a little though). Nice Hide. Love a good ammo tin! But no trackables today. And I did not bring any... anyway Took skippy keyring and Left 888 keyring. TFTH 2 Dudez.
GPS was saying zero....where are you! After a scramble around soon found the nice container. Pretty easy spot to drive to on a nice day. Glad this one is on that side- lots of muggles as first drove in. Thanks for bringing me here.
Found this one on a lovely winter's day while I was going home to St. Arnaud, the long way (caching as I did so).
The track in was in good nick, although a little wet in patches.
A nice easy find in a quiet part of the lake area. I haven't been out to Burrembeet in years. The last time I was here I was trying to catch fish.....I had no luck.
But today was different. Looks like catching caches is a more successful past time.
I walked straight up to GZ and found this only seconds later. TFTC

Due to current roadworks on the Western Highway, we would suggest approaching from the Carnagham/Trewalla Road. We were able to drive up very closely to GZ. What a beautiful spot and a stunning view with lovely old trees. A lovely cache for our 300th find. Lots of photos for Motndarg too. Thank you for bringing us here. We will be back.
What a top spot. Not been here before but will certainly return for an R and R day in the future, but not in the summer - would be too snakey for us!!!!!

Due to road closures, we had to make a massive detour. Arrived at GZ, but decided to go via the rocks on the edge of the lake. Dis I mention we also did this at night? Yeah.
Found cache, signed log. Took nothing. I liked the video case for trackables, sadly there was nothing inside.

Today was a cold and rather breezy day but wanted to end it on a good note!!! We did!!
The track in was wet with quite deep holes full of water and slushy mud. On the way in, two
dogs from a house decided they were going to eat the wheels until they were splashed with
water and mud....they then retreated!!!!
What nice views to enjoy and of course a few pics were taken as well.

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our second day of caching and it was to be our biggest day and fullest day too. Into the afternoon caching now and the weather had cleared up nicely. Our most westerly cache find and a nice trip out to GZ. Followed the tracks past some quad bike riders then through the fence until we made it to GZ. Plenty of water in the lake too. Cache found in a nice and peaceful location. Thanks for the cache. A favourite for me for the spot. Dropped off a couple of coins too.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our massive Saturday run, which included both day and night caches. Lunch was a picnic in the bush at one or our cache stops. A night caching run was undertaken after a rest and dinner.
Nice walk up the hill and cache located in good order. TFTC.

After a successful Friday evening to start off the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” with 34 finds on the first day the Saturday was always going to be a day of superhuman effort. It started early with a run heading west and south, only to finish the day and night with a run to the Northwest and North. A great day was had by all because there was some good 4WDing and the weather held out for the day with only one notable shower. A total of 98 caches were collected today, and it shows you how quickly a cache can be located with so many searchers. This cache was one of them. A walk up the hill and the cache was found soon enough. Thanks for cache #94.
