Staying at Dickey Flat campground, waiting for a group of scouts to complete their Waitawheta to Karangahake walk. Printed the recent posts to give us hints, but nothing to be found. Again reading all the posts, we climbed higher and around a bit, checked every conceivable rock and tree, but alas. Was about 2-3 deg C in the valley so glad to get back to the caravan for hot chocolate. With miniAG.

Staying at the DOC campground & walking along the trail we grabbed a few caches on the way. We searched for ages for this one & no luck, headed back to the Camper & researched through logs & photos (which we had downloaded as no ph reception here) & headed back today & searched again seeing hint items etc.....but still no luck....bugger
Being an old cache this was an important cache for us to find. Even though it was hot and humid I enjoyed the walk though the bush (including a slight diversion to look for another cache -no luck). It didnt take long until my shirt was we through and I had to use my skirt to clean my glasses. At GZ I had the role of health and safety, especially when TwigNZ was near places where it wouldnt take much for his feet to be in thin air. The other 3 climbed as per the hint/what logs said without luck. Our previous finder did say the area looked different to when he found it. Still they looked until TwigNZ decided one more climb and then that would be it we would leave. That last look was the one -he found the cache. Smiles all around and a big hug when he returned to the path.Day 1 of The Wellington Anniversary Weekend tour with Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, TwigNZ. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, puzzles we have solved and ones with a D/T of 2.5+/2.5+ for the [GC30AD8](http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC30AD8) DGSC Challenge (West Coast) challenge. Of course, there will be days of laughter, no doubt at my expense .During our time here, all found caches were signed as MINT, regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us have found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache ags.
(# 8627) As it is a long weekend in Wellington I took a caching jaunt up to the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with TwigNZ, NZ_B and Itchyfeet2020. Stayed in Tokoroa which was the centre of the caching universe for this weekend. Day 1 was going to Waihi and Te Aroha. This was one of our targeted caches due to the age of it. We had a pleasant walk to the GZ then we had a clamber up the slope. There were plenty of hiding places and find it we could not. We were about to grudgingly depart empty handed when TwigNZ went u for a final look. Soon a cry of success was heard. The log was duly signed and he was greeted with a group hug.Logs were either signed MINT (being our initials) or Mr-Mcgoo.Thanks ags for bringing me here.
What a experience! This was a key focus of today. Having arrived at the base of GZ we had a prior finder with us, who helped guide us up. Having said that after failing to find it we expanded our search with three of us. After nearly an hour we had all but given up and resigned to our fate, when the last final surge took TwigNZ further up than he recalls. Well we didn't actually expect him to utter those magic words - but success was had. What a find! He did get a hug when he got down.
This was the last of the 'old school challenge ' caches we needed, so we were keen to find it.
I'd read a few previous logs, so had an idea of roughly where it would be, but knew it could be challenging.
We arrived here and immediately started the scrambling around. The general direction of the route up took as to some large rocks which with a stretch of the imagination could be what the hint referred to, but despite an extensive search, we found nothing.
So we gave up and headed off to do the lab caches at Victoria Battery. Keen to find out where we were going wrong, I messaged a previous finder, and his description sounded like a slightly different area from where we were, so we headed back for attempt number two.
Mrs rattll got to the height suggested, and then spotted a possible spot a little further up and much to our relief, there was the cache.
Being slightly precariously balanced, I handed it down to mr rattll to do the signing, and then returned it to it's hiding place.
Yay, that's the 10 Oldest caches in the north island found.
Thanks for setting this up all those years ago

I was in Tauranga playing bridge after which it was time to get a few caches. Found with Kiscardi. A great place. Thanks
Delighted to grab this old cache today. that is 8 down for the old school challenge. Hal2929 went up after we decided some climbing was needed and quickly yelled found it. Yah.
Love these old cache. Enjoyed a pleasant wander into the area. Thanks for placing and maintaining for all those years

I have been itching to get this cache for a few years now, I made an attempt June 2020 but failed after a long search.
Today, I made a point of coming here quite early to see if I can find it. I was armed with info from 2 previous finders and was hopeful of a good result. But as I parkedup in the carpark, I realised I had no reception and to top it off I hadn't loaded the info from the 2 cachers, so back up the road I went to get internet service, loaded up the info and took screen shots so I would need service at the tunnel. Sorted.
Back at the tunnel, I could see a pathway up a meter ort so to the left of the entrance, followed that up and soon found what I thought was a perfect hiding spot with a large rock, and smaller ones hiding under it.... yes, it was the cache! Whoohoo, I think I found it within 5 mins of arriving. Howz about that. So glad... then I realised I was being watched, climbed back down, (rather slid) and I came clean with the 2 young lads there. Told them what I was doing, and one said to the other: "We are soo missing out on this fun". Damn right you are. So hopefully they'll look up the geocaching page.
Then I wandered back to the swing bridge and found the cache there, awesome day.

NZ MEGA 2020 (in 2022) road trip - Day 9
After spending a wonderful week in Auckland, with so many highlights, it was finally time to start the long trip home, even if I was breaking it up over 2 days as it would mean about 900km of driving in order to try to visit a whole host of caches that I've wanted to try to find for ages.
This was one of those caches, as it's one of the 10 caches needed to qualify for GC325CX Old School Challenge (North Island) and I'm so close to achieving it.
It's also a cache I've been kinda dreading looking for, the fear being that I would make the effort to get here but not be able to find it.
I needn't have worried. At the risk of sounding smug, I located it in about 30 seconds. Luckily for me there was no-one else around when I arrived at the start of the tunnel, so I was just able to go for it and guessed right on the best route to take. Looking back, I'm not sure the Hint is very helpful anymore.
Just happy to get this one under my belt, with the added bonus of then exploring the tunnel itself and getting a nice surprise when I got to the far end. Definitely a place to come back to and spend some proper time here.
Thanks for bringing me here. Definitely worth a FP from me.

R and a muggle friend climbed up to look for this one while H directed from the track. We went a bit far afield and was about to wrap up our search when R stumbled upon the contained. Thanks for the cache.
Sure tricky! Higher than I thought, but lower than we tried. would have been nicely visible from the ship 20 years ago.
We had a nice stroll along the river up from Dickey Flat Rd.
Thanks for the hide Kerry & Christine and thanks for maintaining it, ags.

Had to come here to get this oldie for the north Island old school challenge. Pleasant walk from Dicky Flat and once we had a look at the tunnel the hunt was on. Getting a good fix on where it could be proved fruitless so I gave up and just went for it. Want too comfortable scrambling around up there and found lots of potential hiding spots that were all empty. I figured I had gone too far up and started back to lower level going over every spot again until - wait a second - ohhh that could be it. Yes it was!
Glad the search was over. Had to stay up there a bit longer to sign the logbook, take a couple of photos and gingerly made my way back to flatter ground, legs still shaking as we crossed the bridge to look for the other nearby cache.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!

Loved going through the tunnel. Didn't like the scrambling around up here. Thought it was going to end badly. But eventually an easier way up was found. It was a long way up but again persistence has paid off. 100% success rate on the tramp today. Tftc
Spent 5 minutes scoping the area per instructions to no avail. Went for a clamber while D did further research in the logs. Was elated to find the cache 5 minutes later! Hint: I agree with the logs saying the DT is overrated. Returned to the boat and walked the keel, but couldn’t see the hide from there — might have been some growth in the last 20 years Admired the tunnel & ancient pipes. Thanks for the (now) old cache K&C + AGS, another for my Old School Challenge!
We were apprehensive about this cache, having read previous logs talking about very long search times. Fortunately B took the right path straight away and I was mightily relieved to hear his whoop of triumph shortly after! TFTC Kerry & Christine!
Having been in Hamilton for the night it's now time to make my way (the long way) back towards Wellington. This is my third visit here, however the last two times the carpark had been overflowing but today I was one of only three cars. My walk to the location was quiet with no one around, and during my first hour of searching I didn't see a single person. Whilst that took some pressure off, it didn't make it easier to find. Up and down and up and down I went. I went way higher than necessary, I went wider than necessary, and still nothing. I was reaching the end of my available efforts when finally, as I was standing in just the right spot, looking just the right way, my tongue was at just the right angle, and there it was! Very happy to finally get this one done. Cache was safe and dry, and returned to place ready for it's next victim.
I wasn't the brave one to clamber up, thanks drnz4u for being braver than I. Busy muggle day for looking sketchy in the bush
I decided on the spur of the moment earlier this Sunday morning to shoot down from Auckland to walk this Waitawheta trail, mainly to get the oldie cache 'Waitawheta Pipeline'. I started from Dickey Flat campground. I knew the weather was going to be dodgy, and possibly raining the whole way, it didn’t but the river is really swollen after the heavy rains over the past few days.
No go for me today, I should have approached this cache first before I did the others. Instead I was fighting bad light and it was about to get dark, then it started to rain... that put a damper on things. Thought I was in the right spot, but after 30 mins couldn't find it.

Had a good look with Osrith with him doing the hard work and me looking like I was working towards this cache but after a 9km tramp I was sore and not bothered. We think we know where to find this but neither of us had the inclination today to take those extra steps. As this is such a beautuful area to tramp we will be back for another go one day.
Pretty difficult find I must say. Went with Line_Moh, DanverKruss, Elviraxx and IuryBR. It was Elviraxx who was brave and took the altitude to find the cache. Well done, we went back not feeling defeated.
Nice day today visiting the Dickey Flat and nearby area with Line_Moh, Danverkruus and Elviraxx, plus a Muggle friend, who actually helped us to find some caches. This one was the most tricky, we all were looking for the really wanted container, but it was hard to find it and in the same time pretending to the Muggles that we were doing something else but Geocaching, after a while searching without success, we decided to go to the River eat some food, enjoy the place and come back to the GZ again to find it. It was Elviraxx who decided to follow exacly what is written in the description (the Hint didn't help much) and elevate her searching area till finally find it, after signing as a group IDEA, we moved toward home with a big smile in the face and in the map. Before leaving the place, another stop for eating and find the cache by the camping site.
Really nice place to visit and search for some caches.

All 5 of us to find this cache just before heading out to the waterfalls - IuryBr, DanverKruss, Elviraxx and Vibha. This proved to be very challenging and we just couldn't ward off muggles - too many of them. We were getting hungry so we decided to head off to the falls and have our lunch and smash this one on our way back.
And SMASH we did! After a good lunch and a good show of jumping skills, we head out and this time it was Elviraxx perseverance and mad climbing skills that saved the day! Hurray!
Signed off as IDEA <3

I took the opportunity to look for this old cache and 101 (Waikato) while staying in the Waikato for a few days. WIth the last find being 2 years ago and 4 DNFs since then it was with a little trepidation that I enbarked on the walk to this cache! The wallk itself is very pleasant and interesting, only taking 15 min from Dicky Flat. I caught up to the muggles ahead of me as they faffed about getting ready to go through the tunnel, so I followed them through then came back to search.
I had done my homework and gleaned all the info I could from prevous logs, including some comments about the cache being in a less steep area. I climbed up roughly where I thought I needed to be and poked about for a while without luck, but having to duck occasionally as I was in view of muggles approaching the tunnel. I got a bit fed up and was going to call it a day, so started making my way down to a relatively flat spot, when I looked at the track and realised I was probably right on the waypiont mentioned in the cache description. A quick look up the hill revealed a glimpse of blue almost in plain sight! Don't know how I missed that on the way past initially. I think it's fair to say the the size and D/T ratings are all overstated! I'd describe it as a small with a D/T of about D2/T2.5.
Thanks for the adventure and for keeping this old cache going. Only two more old NI caches left before I can complete the NI Old School Challenge. Perhaps I should get a move on since the challenge cache is my nearest to home unfound!

Had a pretty good look, no luck, but perhaps we were in wrong place, or, recent flooding has swept it away? Thanks anyway, love this area!
Picked up the kids from their grandparents and decided on a walk through the Karangahake gorge. This one with its age and D/T rating was disapointing to not get. We managed the tunnel with the camera flash on phone, thanks Mr 13. Upon return home and reading properly the logs I know where we went wrong. Bit tricky, but we will be back as I still have more to find.
I'm travelling around NZ for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my guide-book. Today my main goal was to find the 2 old caches in the southern Coromandel-region. Both of these caches took forever to find, so I only ended up driving from Auckland to Waihi today. I'm really glad I was searching for these 2 caches, because they took me to a beautiful place. I really enjoyed the scenery in this area.
About this cache:
This cache was on my to-do-list for the old-school challenge. I was a bit nervous about it, reading the logs, so I was prepared for steep. Unfortunately my mind was so prepared for steep, that I went for the steepest place, and searched every tree for about 1,5 hour. Just when I was about to give up, I tried a different area, which wasn't steep at all, compared to where I had spent my last 1,5 hour, and I could quickly and easily locate the cache. This trail was really nice, wish I had time to walk to the end and back. Thank you for showing me this beautiful area, and thank you for keeping this oldie alive. Greetings from Norway

Today's program is the Karangahake gorge including all the mining history along the way. It is interesting to see how fast nature takes over when the influence of men is gone. So many buildings are gone and overgrown and all that in a relatively short time.
The trail presents a lot of different types of trail and we started the easy way along the river Whaitawheta with a good path, tunnels and of course geocaches.
After climbing down to the river, now was the time to get uphill and find a cache there.
It took a while to find it but we managed after lifting the right rocks and putting your hand off the cache.
We missed the possibility of scenic views over the river, but you cannot have it all.

I scored some ridiculously cheap flights to Auckland, and that means one thing - geocaching!! i had some specific caches in mind, so I hopped into the car at the airport, and did not stopped until the K gorge car park. I have been through this area a few times previously, and always thought to myself that I will return one day and go for a walk. Today seemed like a perfect day for it, and walking I went! I had to survive in my hiking boots for the whole weekend to have suitable shoes for such an activity due to the seat only fare (I have perfected my packing technique since then ), but the cause was certainly worth it! I really enjoyed the walk! Quite obviously this one was the main target, but when I got to gz, and figured out where it will be, I could not believe the slope! However, when there is a cache there is a will, and I was soon right up there Thanks for placing and maintaining this one!!!
I walked from Dickys flat out to the gorge and back today to scout the area for a trip I am running next week. I grabbed this cache on my way back with the help of my new GPS. I hadn't researched the Geocaches along here and was pleasantly surprised to find such an old and still active cache here with a nice interesting Terrain and difficulty ratting as well. It was wet so there were no muggles to worry about, but it did make the scramble a little more difficult. Took a little while spot which made the discovery all the more rewarding. Thanks for providing a fun challenge and for keeping this cache alive and well for such a long time.
Too tired the last time was here and mis-reading the clue had me pointing in the wrong direction. A hint from a friend and I was back today for a quick, if somewhat scary, find. I think this is my oldest cache so far. TFTC.
We came over to walk from Dickey's Flat round to Karangahake Gorge and back with Pinocchio59! Was a fun afternoon walk
We came over to walk from Dickey's Flat round to Karangahake Gorge and back - great walk enhanced by picking up a few smileys here and there. This one is great - I thoroughly enjoyed the exercise required here, scores a favourite from me
Extremely cunning placement ...I only figured out the clue after I found it ...the track was very busy to day so had to wait for all the muggles to go into the tunnel....then I felt free to search....the GPS being my best friend today taking me to the spot and I soon had the cache in hand and signed thank Ags for looking after this wonderful placement and it's awesome to see a cache still going great work keep it up I appreciate your efforts a fav from me
I came here a while ago, but searched in another spot lol. Had talked to a couple of cachers who said they couldn't find it after having found it previously so hadn't been back (why did I listen to them??). Saw it had been found recently so had to return. This time the seach didn't take long at all, once clue located. Loved this cache and challenge. Even the hordes of muggles didn't interfere with the search as they were intent on their own challenges. Thanks for this great and old cache ags.
Camping at the nearby Waitawheta camp. Out with kakesnz and muggle friend. Spent some time scrabbling around until we found the lost logging pen of previous geocachers. This was the clue that lead directly to the hidey hole. This is now my second oldest cache fined. Thanks for maintaining ags.
Staying in Karangahake Gorge and out for some caching & walking with mojitoma and a muggle friend. This was our most difficult find of the day and it was only after the pen lost by a previous cacher was found that GZ was spotted. TFTC
Once ApacheD and I had set up camp we proceeded to do the loop track and find all the caches on the way. We made our way on to the up turned boat and looked to where we had to go. Once we found a way up to GZ it was a fairly quick find and we managed to get down without injury.

Today we hiked in the gorgeous gorges. First we hiked the Not the HRT Walkway on our way back we took the Railway Track and then we hiked the Waitawheta Pipeline Track.
The hike on the Pipeline Track is awesome. Interesting locations combined with beautiful landscapes and nature.
This cache is located at an awesome spot of nature on both sides of the tunnel. We loved that spot! On our way we first did not go for this cache but as we loved that spot so much we decided to go for it even though here might be a chance not to find it and spent power searching it. But it wasn’t like that. The cache was quite easy to find and we found it right away at 1:40 pm and we were happy that we did. Even though we might lost our logging pen there .
Great cache that shows again that the old caches are often the best.
Thanks a lot for the hide.

Last time I was here was about 5 years ago, and I logged a DNF... actually I logged 4-5 DNFs in the gorge. Granted I was a pretty new cacher then. Today I bring sveppi back while on holiday trying to use the extra 1000 finds worth of experience and a more recent technology GPS to have another crack at them, plus some new ones that popped up in the mean time as well.
This cache I spent hours picturing in my head where it might be after I returned home and read the description, the hint and the logs properly. After so long I pretty much knew where that would be. When we arrived I stood on the boat to get a good reading ont he GPS, re-read the hint one last time, set the pack down so I could search un-hindered and headed straight to where I thought it should be. Didn't even give sveppi a chance to figure it out for herself. Found it pretty much where I had imagined. So glad to finally lay this one to rest, and so glad this one is still alive after 15 years. So, our mission of the day was to find this cache and lay some DNF ghost to rest from fanfan-77. I'm still figuring out the boat bit (ah yes I get it) and then there is a "found it" from above. Cool. Nice spot for lunch too. Great to see an old cache still in play. TFTC
Todays Road Trip for us and Squirrel Nutcase was to attempt the Waiawheta Loop Track. Left home about 7am and finally got home about 8pm with mission accomplished plus a few extra caches in between.
3.35pm - Able to walk through tunnel abled by light on GPS. Read description and soon knew where we had to go, spotted blue on container in its hiding hole. Great to claim this old cache. SLTFTC

A very long day of walking ahead... With Gap (of Fap and Gap). We've been wanting to clear out the concentration of caches in the Dickey's Flat/ Karangahake/ Waitawheta areas for a while now.
This was one of those must-do caches... We relied on the light of Gap's gps to navigate through the tunnel... Finding the cache was a lot easier than we anticipated, thanks to it being partially visible. It's a buzz to finally log this oldie... TFTC and for keeping it alive.

It was time for me to do the big loop walk starting from the main Karangahake carpark, up the Crown Hill track to the Dubbo and then back down, with a few ups and downs on the way.
It is good to see that this old cache is still going strong. I wonder if the cache owners are still around?
Cheers for the cache.

Maybe we first need to read the whole description before looking. We first checked the whole tunnel (twice) with a flashlight....hmmm it would have saved a lot of time. Was amazed that there were even some tourists walking with only the light of their phones.....on their jandals....
The cache was difficult and almost wanted to give up, just by a last glimp to look from another angle..to found something that looks like....yes it is...found it.....jippppppiiieee

Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Mallorcatommy and I were travelling through the northern island of New Zealand. What an amazing, breath-taking landscape! On our way we did some nice walks, enjoyed ourselves and found great geocaches. Thanks to all owners for nice hiding spots... We wouldn't have been to a few places without these little boxes!
Thank you!
Thank you!
717 Over cleaning caches in the valley I had missed or struggled to find. This one had me scratching my head. GPS was doing a merry dance. 4th visit. Not that I am complaining lovely walk. This time recent activity made for easy find.
Found on the geo-walk from DIckey's flat as the first find for the Anti-Clockwise group. Miss Jacksonz was useful for clambering up and helping with the find. Then onward through the tunnel.
Found with anti-clockwise group during the Waitangi BBQ weekend. Sent Mr up to the sign this log, tftc
Found this cache with the group of cachers walking along the track in the anti-clockwise direction on the hike organised by Greenblat and KiwiLeon for the Dickey's Flat Camp-out Event. A few of us scrambled up to make the grab and to sign the log book before we soon headed along inside the stretch of tunnel towards the next cache. Thanks for the hide!
A sub-group find (ie, those of us who had not already been exploring in the area) of the anti-clockwise group heading towards Karangahake. A bit of physical effort was required to secure this one. TFTC
Was staying at Dickeys flat, and are part of the "Clockwise 17" group. This was my last find for the day, after our walk along the Dubbo 96, then Level 7, and then return via the Pipeline track.
Made the climb up to GZ to sign the log! nearly lost the pencil, but spotted it in the leaf litter and returned it to the cache bag! phew
No cachers were lost or injured (I think!) in the retrieval of this cache. Although it was a bit tricky coming down, when other cachers were trying the ascent, so we had a bit of a traffic jam
Thanks for the hide and the adventure. Last night we had been through this way for a night cache, and got to see glow worms at the entrance, and in the roof of the tunnel. Thanks for the hide and the adventure.

A quick little scramble on a hot day. Was part of the "Clockwise Team 17" staying at Dicky Flat. A very interesting a beautiful area. Lots of people having a dip today to cool off. TFTC
Probably the highlight of the day for me and it was the last cache of the day as well. Was lucky enough to be out with the event mob which meant the location of the cache was pretty straightforward, but as everyone who wanted their name in the log had to get up there to get their name in the book I was keen as to make the quick scramble and sign in officially. Felt deceptively steep but everyone got up and down in one piece (to my knowledge). Cool old cache and enjoyed reading the logs for this one - TFTC
Was really helpful to be with the group for this one, as just the climb was enough without having to move about. Tftc.
Wow ....can't believe how long this cache has been here ! Was initially worried about terrain rating but others convinced me it was just a wee scramble up ...and so it was !
Was cool fun going through the 50 m tunnel ! Lucky I remembered my torch ! Thanks COs

Logged as part of the "Clockwise Team 17" during the weekends event nearby stopped for a swim while here beaut happy caching
Attempted this one in good company with a couple of experienced cachers but it took a good search to locate the goods. Always great to find an old and early NZ cache TFTC
Found with alpenmilch80 after the BBQ for the Waitangi campout event. A quick scramble up the hill and the cache was soon spotted. This one fills a placement month for me too, so an added bonus!
Thanks!
Thanks!
After a DNF last month I was back in the area today for the BBQ and Campout event.
Teamed up with C&D and RM.
While they were searching in an different area then I was before I scrambled up again and on the way down I spotted a likely spot and something blue shining through. Must have been the light of that hour.
On the way down we run into some muggles coming out of the tunnel while we mentioned something like " the track over the top is also fun" were the responded " didn't know there was a track up there". we left it with that.
Thanks for a great cache.

Out for a bit of an explore after dinner with HKCB, Mike-Miss & 11hpg11 who were staying at Dickies flat for the BBQ camp-out event.
Unfortunately I didn't have suitable shoes on for climbing so had to stay at the bottom, managed to convince them to put my name in the cache.
The following day when with the anti-clockwise walking group, we stopped here again for those that hadn't already found it.
I felt that I should really clamber up this time - so I could truly claim the cache. Ended up being the one to actually find the cache as well. TFTC

On the way to GZ Slieschke and I bumped into a group of geocaches. After a bit of discussion we convinced them to come back with us and watch us climb and slip. TFTC
I know that we were coming here for the event but this was the one cache that was on my radar beyond all others due primarily to its longevity to the area.
I headed down here with rosmar and KiwiLeon in the late afternoon to see what we could see. Following a debate about what the description meant we began combing the above terrain. And an adventure that was also, Just needing to keep one's footing while wearing cache appropriate jandals was not my brightest idea.
Following about 10min search a wide area we had pretty much worked out where it wasn't and just as we were to revise our thoughts we hear "Hang on, Got it" Yeah to KiwiLeon and his diligence.
Great to have finally knocked this one off the grid, but am sure I will be back soon as I see more have been published in the area
thanks for the placement

Headed out for a post BBQ walk with HKCB and 11hpg11 to try and find this one. Once at GZ we scrambled up the bank and started searching. After a few minutes, 11hpg11 came up with the goods, signed the log and headed back to the campout event. Nice to get this one sorted, TFTC!
Went for a bit of an explore after dinner with a couple of other cachers who were staying at Dickies flat for the BBQ camp-out event. Having looked here previously for the cache without any luck, we thought the multi eyed pronged assault might do the trick. Also a hint from a previous finder made the clue make a little more sense to us. Glad to have final found this as this was a cache I was hoping to find this weekend. Thanks for the placement.
Came out here with Mike-Miss and HKCB, determined to make a find. We had a little nudge on what area to search as this one could be a little tricky. We searched around for a little while and then I noticed something out of place, and the cache was inhand.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! Third time a charm, did some satellite analysis and it worked. Found within 30 seconds of arrival, it was just outside my previous search zones.
Came by last evening but daylight was getting on so didn't really try to hard for a find. I'm camping at Dickey Flat and will be back here. Returned the next morning and went round and round for a while before things clicked and the cache was in hand. Oh, that took a while. Good one! Cheers for the cache.
while the others swam at the other end i rushed back for a look, its a hard area to search and i never got a good GPS signal, so im not surprised at my no find.
We couldn't get accurate bearings from bow but after a long hunt my friend spotted it. Good challenge! Thanks
Found this tricky little one after a fair bit of hunting around, and a bit of luck. Our gps coverage on phone was sketchy even when on the boat, but happy we managed to tick this one off! Great spot. Tftc
Great one! Just great! What a stunning walk! First I was wondering why T4 but I didn't expect the cache to be there where it was
Thanks for showing! This for sure is a favorite point too!

We did the pipeline walk on a rainy day and enjoyed it. Great views and a awesome location to hide a cache.
Thank you for showing us this spot.
Thank you for showing us this spot.
This one took 2 goes. Once before lunch but without success. Then after a nice lunch by the bridge a second attempt found the goods. The clues were spot on, TFTC fav just for the longevity of this cache.
Ce coup là, merci friwinz les derniers mètres étaient vraiment très raides il a fallu sa jeunesse et sa condition physique.
I have tried a few times before to find this elusive cache but today I came back having read all the previous logs. Persistence pays off and I had the little @*&%$* safely in hand. TF this tricky little hide, it gave me a real sense of achievement when I eventually found it.
Took us a while to work out exactly where to search despite reading the description several times. Eventually got stuck in and after several attempts I finally saw what we were looking for. Well worth its 4/4 rating & glad to have ticked another box off on our D/T grid, something I've not achieved for a long time

Found it today. If you follow the cache discription, you will find it easy, tftc
Had an idea where to look, but was a bit slippery for a thorough investigation. Maybe next time.
A DNF for us unfortunately. I braved the two swing bridges, which sounds easy for some but as I don't like things moving under my feet nor heights it was an effort to steel myself to the rising terror. Much easier on the way back, though, and didn't understand why I would think I could have been afraid. LOL We looked and clambered over the boat and other such things but no luck for us this time. May come back in the summer with the caravan and stay the night at the DOC camp. Thanks for bringing us here and making me walk the swing bridge.
Thia ones been on my list for a while now. Finally had a chance to head up and spend some time looking for it. Great hide and location. Awesome cache!
Went for a refreshing swim on other side of tunnel after waking to the karangahake summit, rest of group continued back to tent site for dinner while I stopped to find it, didn't take too long - enjoy ones like this!
TNLNSL Thanks
TNLNSL Thanks
Walked down from Dickey Flat in an area I have not been in before. Took a bit of searching, but after the initial stupidity of not considering the terrain difficulty, it was soon in hand. The hint, combined with common sense, saw a nice resolution to this challenging cache. Went through the tunnel and it certainly helped having a torch. It's a little uneven and wet through there. Mind you head. I have logged this cache as part of 12-12-12: A Challenge? http://coord.info/GC42CNY TNLN TFTC
